I Heard I Was the Scumbag Alpha of a Top-Tier Celebrity (GL) - Chapter 11
Gu Xin had been working at this lounge bar for almost two weeks. The main reasons for choosing the job were its proximity to home, short working hours, and decent pay.
The pay became even more substantial after Gu Xin was successfully promoted to apprentice bartender. Gu Xin had a great memory and extremely strong practical skills. She could immediately replicate techniques she had only watched once, and the taste was almost identical.
The shift leader exclaimed “Genius” and immediately renegotiated Gu Xin’s hourly wage on the spot.
After only a week of hands-on work, the previous bartender had to admit that Gu Xin had mastered all the basic techniques. The rest of the flashy moves were just a matter of time.
“I really envy you. Whether it’s the customers or Janny, everyone likes you.” The person next to her was wiping glasses. Gu Xin was already used to this colleague, Cynthia, speaking with a half-jealous, half-snarky tone.
Cynthia was originally learning bartending, and Gu Xin was just a server, but now their roles had clearly reversed.
Gu Xin expertly shook the cocktail in her hand and slowly poured it along the inside of the glass, responding seriously: “Naturally, I’m good, so it’s normal for people to like me.”
Cynthia choked, then, knowing Gu Xin’s back was to her, rolled her eyes and set the glass down on the counter before walking away: “Janny called me. You handle things yourself.”
“Take care, don’t rush back.” Gu Xin unhurriedly opened another bottle of liquor and carefully sniffed it, not taking the childish workplace relations to heart at all.
Her working hours were from 6 PM to 1 AM. There weren’t many customers yet, so the shift leader allowed her to practice with some less expensive spirits. If the drinks turned out well, she could offer them to customers for sampling.
“Gussing~~~” Just as she was thinking, the person dressed like a dazzling butterfly, with a trailing wave in his voice, fluttered down next to Gu Xin. His heavy makeup required him to exaggerate his expression so people could clearly see his emotions. At the moment, he wore a wide, enthusiastic smile: “Hi, how are you feeling lately? Any leads on a proper job?”
“Not yet, still looking.” Every staff member in the bar had a nickname. This heavily made-up butterfly was their shift leader, a person of unknown gender, though Gu Xin guessed he was an Omega.
The butterfly winked his heavily made-up eyes at her, putting on a pitiful, delicate demeanor: “So, what are your thoughts on what I mentioned before? This place is quiet and pretty, and you’d have a beauty like me covering for you~”
The butterfly spoke stickily, but his body language was very measured, keeping a distance from Gu Xin. They faced each other across the bar.
What he was referring to was his probing two days ago about whether Gu Xin had any thoughts of working here full-time.
Gu Xin’s learning ability was truly astonishing, stunning enough to make people want to recruit her talent. Plus, although Gu Xin’s gender was Alpha, she had never been seen losing control during her time working here.
When she made a cocktail, it was like she was flirting—her indifferent gaze, unhurried movements, manipulating the cocktail shaker in her hands. Her actions were bold and dangerous, yet there was not a single leak—neither the alcohol nor the pheromones escaped. This extreme restraint made people desperately want to break her mysterious and contradictory aura and peek into whether her asceticism was real.
Coupled with the last time Gu Xin publicly handled a disruptive customer—politely apologizing while mercilessly administering a secret jab—it was enough to make the butterfly’s legs go weak.
This was the premium Alpha of his dreams.
The butterfly wiped away the drool dripping inside his heart, increasingly anticipating Gu Xin’s answer.
He was already fantasizing: If Gu Xin agreed, he would immediately report it to the boss, organize a uniform theme on Saturday, hand Gu Xin a white coat and gold-rimmed glasses, and have her greet every incoming customer coldly.
Wouldn’t that rake in the cash?!
“Ah, I’m very sorry, but I don’t have that intention at the moment.” Gu Xin’s words interrupted his fantasy.
She opened another bottle of liquor. Lately, she had been practicing a new move she saw online. The flashy cocktail shaker danced in the air. It might look overly dramatic when others did it, but she did it so fluidly and dazzlingly, as if she had done it a thousand times before.
The butterfly was greatly disappointed but had also anticipated Gu Xin’s answer. He propped up his head, pouting sadly: “I knew it. Our temple is too small to keep a Great Buddha like you. Waaah, what will I do without you?”
Gu Xin didn’t seem to hear him, shaking the cocktail for the final perfect arc. The shaker landed steadily in her hand. She poured the drink, creating a final, beautiful layer of color.
Gu Xin pushed the drink forward and politely said, “It’s on me.”
The butterfly picked up the glass and rolled his eyes at her: “Re-gifting.”
After downing the drink, the butterfly slapped an order ticket down in front of her: “Here. The boss personally ordered these. Deliver them to the upstairs private room. You can take them up directly in a moment.”
Gu Xin quickly glanced at the requirements and bent her head to start mixing.
A Long Island Iced Tea and a Tequila Sunrise. Both were classics, posing little difficulty for Gu Xin.
The butterfly watched her mesmerized: “Every time you make a drink, I feel like you’re so charming.”
Gu Xin slowly replied: “Although you are my superior, I still have to say, sexual harassment against an Alpha can still lead to a lawsuit.”
The butterfly froze, then became frantic: “I can’t take this! You’re so unromantic! Can you really find a partner like this?”
“Not only do I have one, but I’m married. So, Leader, you’d better not say things like that anymore. I’m afraid my wife will hit you.” Gu Xin raised the glass without batting an eye, checking the color, which was already very beautiful. She nodded with satisfaction.
The butterfly impatiently waved her away: “Yes, yes, I know you’re whipped. Go deliver the drinks.”
“On it.” Gu Xin picked up the tray and left, not forgetting to take the menu from in front of the butterfly.
After taking two steps, Gu Xin turned her head and said, “Although my wife hits people, she is very beautiful—more beautiful than a celebrity.”
The butterfly was confused: “What does that have to do with me?”
“Nothing, just emphasizing to you, Leader, that my wife is very beautiful. Bye-bye.”
The butterfly watched Gu Xin’s quick ascent up the stairs, stood frozen for two seconds, and finally couldn’t help but curse out loud: “Is she crazy?!”
What did his wife’s beauty have to do with him! Showing off her love to him!
Gu Xin was unaware she had been cursed at. She went upstairs in a good mood.
The second floor of this lounge bar was all private rooms. The lighting was dim, and the atmosphere was ambiguous, very suitable for hormonal AABB-OO to engage in private romance. Everyone could chat about romance, the wind and the moon, the stars and the moon. A single session would significantly advance the relationship meter.
Gu Xin walked toward the room number. When she reached the very last room at the end of the hallway, she knocked on the door: “Hello, your drinks have arrived.”
A woman’s lazy voice came from inside: “Come in.”
Gu Xin pushed the door open. She kept her head down, focusing on the drinks, and didn’t see the stunned look of the other person in the private room.
“One Long Island Iced Tea and one Tequila Sunrise. They are all here. Enjoy your meal.”
After marking two lines on the menu, Gu Xin was about to leave when she heard the woman say: “Xiao Shuang, come, try the craft of Boss Tu’s family.”
… Xiao Shuang?
