I Heard I Was the Scumbag Alpha of a Top-Tier Celebrity (GL) - Chapter 2
The heavy rain continued well after dinner. There were no streetlights in the mountains, so it got dark early. Gu Xin stood on the slope with her hands on her hips, her feet sinking into the mud, contemplating life while facing the dark slope below.
Ying Lu was a very perceptive director. This quality was evident not only in her films but also in her life.
One investor once joked that you should never let Ying Lu catch your weakness, or you wouldn’t be able to escape without investing a million or so.
Gu Xin didn’t invest. Mainly because she didn’t have the money, but unfortunately, her weakness had already been seized.
The passing PhD student saw her zoning out and asked, “Teacher Gu, aren’t you going to eat?”
Gu Xin suddenly realized: “Wait, I don’t think I’ve ever asked your name. What was it again?”
The PhD student stumbled over her words, perhaps not realizing that after all this time, Gu Xin didn’t even know her name.
“My name is Ke Muxun. Teacher Gu can just call me Xiao Ke.”
Gu Xin’s CPU was completely occupied by the three words “Yan Shuangshuang,” and she had no bandwidth to notice Xiao Ke’s look of disappointment. She nodded vaguely and said, “Yes, I’ll eat. Where are we eating?”
Xiao Ke pointed her toward Yan Shuangshuang’s building and ran off to get some utensils.
Yan Shuangshuang’s rented house had three floors. The first floor housed only two Omegas and a huge living room used for script discussions, while the other empty rooms were filled with the crew’s props and equipment.
For the research team who had just arrived today, their car had been recovered, but the mechanic was still in town and wouldn’t arrive until tomorrow. The only way to get up the mountain now was on foot.
Hua Ran quickly decided to ask the villagers to host them for the night. The team members would stay in villagers’ homes, and they would discuss work tomorrow. But before leaving, everyone would gather to eat a communal meal together in the large living room.
When Gu Xin walked in, everyone was chatting and talking lively. There were five or six tables set up. The atmosphere was thick with the smell of cooking, the room was steamy, and no one paid attention to the low-key Gu Xin entering. Only Hua Ran gave her an ambiguous look before turning back to talk to others.
Gu Xin casually sat at an empty spot. The food on the table was rustic. Every dish was not very appealing in color, but each carried a natural fragrance.
Gu Xin picked at two bites without tasting anything, then suddenly heard someone ask: “Doesn’t taste good?”
Gu Xin turned and found the tall Omega she had seen this morning sitting next to her.
He Xin’s appearance was that of a younger sister—a cool sister, somewhere between obedient and rebellious. She was fine normally, but when she didn’t speak and stared at people with her big, round eyes, there was a feeling that the child was plotting some mischief.
Gu Xin wasn’t one to read people’s expressions. She was used to being self-absorbed and only thought He Xin was a bit strange: “It tastes good.”
“I made it with someone else.”
Gu Xin tentatively replied: “Thank you?”
Her answer clearly didn’t satisfy He Xin, but He Xin switched the question: “Are you a scientist?”
“No.” Gu Xin immediately denied it. She genuinely didn’t consider herself a scientist. So far, her position in the institute could only be described as a general assistant, albeit one who dealt with advanced tasks.
She pointed to Hua Ran: “That one is.”
A hint of disdain flashed in He Xin’s eyes. She mumbled, “I really don’t know what she sees in you…”
The surrounding people were too loud. Gu Xin hadn’t heard clearly. She instinctively asked again: “What did you say?”
Just as He Xin was about to speak, someone suddenly squeezed in between them.
“Xin Xin, you’re here. I’ve been looking all over for you.”
Both looked up to see Zhao Censu, covered in sweat and radiating heat from running. A faint scent of perilla pheromones floated around him.
He wore a cheerful smile, but his body language was aggressive as he leaned his arms on the table facing He Xin: “Why are you alone? Where’s Shuangshuang?”
Gu Xin’s hand, holding her chopsticks, couldn’t help but clench.
He Xin pinched her nose and leaned back, her expression clearly showing disgust: “Sister Shuang went to rest. Your smell is too strong. Can you tone it down?”
Zhao Censu smiled apologetically. He made a gesture of apology: “I just finished moving equipment. I didn’t mean to. Has Shuangshuang eaten? Should I call her to eat?”
“She ate early.”
“Then I’ll go inside and check on her.”
“Ah? That might not be appropriate.”
“Are you going to let people eat or not?” Gu Xin put down her chopsticks with a clack.
It was then that Zhao Censu seemed to notice Gu Xin, feigning confusion as he looked at her, then back at He Xin: “Xin Xin, who is she? Your Beta friend?”
At the word “Beta,” Gu Xin finally looked at him squarely.
Gu Xin herself had no prejudice against Betas. In her mind, gender didn’t matter because she simply didn’t care. But this person’s tone was incredibly annoying, too full of Alpha superiority. Gu Xin didn’t know what he was so proud of. Mixed with his overpowering pheromones, it was the height of provocation.
She said calmly: “Want to talk outside?”
“Why should I talk outside with you?” Zhao Censu refused as if nothing had happened. He then stared intensely at He Xin, pulling out a box of painkillers from his pocket: “I heard Shuangshuang was hurt. I bought this in town this afternoon. Xin Xin, help me give it to her.”
“No need. We have a first aid kit.”
“Oh, come on, it’s a token of my sincerity. I spent all afternoon moving bricks just to get it.”
“Seriously, no need…”
Gu Xin stood up, facing Zhao Censu directly. She was, after all, a female Alpha, about half a head shorter than Zhao Censu, but as her dark brown eyes locked onto his, he felt a chilling sensation.
Her voice was faint: “Do you not understand Chinese, or is your hearing impaired?”
Zhao Censu’s face also turned cold: “What do you mean?”
“It seems you have a problem with your brain. Can’t you understand such an obvious refusal?” Her tone was genuinely bewildered, maximizing the sense of mockery.
Zhao Censu’s mouth became a straight line. His handsome face radiated coldness, and the perilla scent suddenly intensified, carrying a faint explosive feel—a precursor to an Alpha’s rage and a means of oppression against a peer.
The living room had silently quieted down at some point. Several people, unable to bear the aggressiveness of the Alpha pheromones, quietly slipped out. But Gu Xin seemed unaffected. She stared back at Zhao Censu with cold indifference.
Hua Ran finally noticed the commotion and warned: “Gu Xin.”
Gu Xin acted as if she hadn’t heard, saying to Zhao Censu with an expressionless face: “Don’t act like some inferior male dog, throwing tantrums and spraying piss everywhere. If you can’t control your stench, go inject yourself with an inhibitor. Does everyone here owe you something?”
Zhao Censu looked at Gu Xin for a long time, then smiled, his tone chilling: “You’ve got a sharp tongue. Come on, let’s talk outside. Don’t just be tough with your mouth.”
“Oh.” Gu Xin took off her jacket, handed it to He Xin, and turned to leave.
Zhao Censu followed her, even sparing a moment to smile at the people present and say: “Just a small private matter, Alpha business. Don’t worry about it, everyone. Enjoy your meal.”
After both had left, He Xin, who had been clutching her mouth and nose, suddenly let go and took a huge gulp of air.
“Holy shit…” He Xin held Gu Xin’s jacket like a hot potato. She stood stunned for a moment. Her mind finally caught up. She immediately got up and rushed into the room: “Sister Shuang! Those two are fighting over you!!!”
