I Ran Away After Transmigrating as a Wealthy Daughter-in-Law - Chapter 9
Jiang Pan remembered Jian Yue’s phone number. Whether it was from the original owner’s memory or her own photographic memory, she had those eleven digits engraved in her mind.
So, one day, she saved it to her phone.
On that day, she accidentally dialed Jian Yue’s number. Jian Yue answered quickly, but unfortunately, Jiang Pan couldn’t think of a reason or a position to talk to her.
So, she just let it go.
Looking at the vibrating phone, Jiang Pan was confused for a moment.
Jian Yue shouldn’t know this is her number, right?
Then she thought, maybe not. After all, if Jian Yue really wanted to know, she would find a way.
If Jian Yue really knew this was her number, why was she calling?
While Jiang Pan was thinking, the call ended.
Jiang Pan: “…”
What’s going on? Is she still hung up on the original owner?
Or is there something else she wants?
She looked back at her phone, her expression slightly annoyed.
Jian Yue, don’t be a fool.
“Cheng Ci!” As soon as Jian Yue entered the bedroom, she saw her nephew with her phone. She immediately lost her temper, chased him out of the room, and ordered him not to enter her bedroom without her permission.
Cheng Ci was the nine-year-old grandson of Jian Guangtao’s friend.
It was Jian Guangtao’s birthday today, so the Jian family’s villa was full of people, including a lot of little kids.
While Jian Yue was greeting guests, Cheng Ci and a few of his friends had run into her bedroom.
Cheng Ci said, feeling wronged, “Auntie, you always used to let me look at your phone when I was little.”
Jian Yue retorted, “When you were little, you never touched my phone unless I let you.”
Cheng Ci pouted.
Jian Yue glared at him.
Cheng Ci, feeling scared, ran off with his friends. Before he left, the little boy didn’t forget to say in a sweet voice, “Auntie, I’m sorry. Don’t be mad. I’ll buy you some candy next time.”
Jian Yue gave a helpless smile. She looked at the children having fun in the living room and suddenly thought that kids were pretty cute.
She turned on her phone, not paying any attention to the fact that Cheng Ci had accidentally called Jiang Pan’s number.
Besides, it was just a string of numbers. She didn’t remember it and didn’t want to.
Jian Yue tossed her phone on the nightstand and changed her clothes to go downstairs.
It wasn’t just her who had a hard time lately; her father had, too. Because of her failed marriage, that piece of trash had caused significant losses to her father’s company, but all he cared about was making her happy as soon as possible.
And what had she done for her father lately? Jian Yue asked herself, feeling guilty.
Today was Jian Guangtao’s birthday.
Jian Yue stood at the top of the stairs, looking at her father downstairs, laughing and talking with his old friends. Her heart fluttered.
…The only person who truly loved her was her father.
She felt foolish for being so blind. Now, Jian Yue felt so pathetic. She had hurt the only man who loved her over and over again for a scumbag.
Why did it take her so long to realize?
Yin Li came up with a glass of red wine. “What are you thinking about?”
Jian Yue didn’t answer. She leaned against the railing, lost in her thoughts.
Yin Li took a sip of wine and asked, “It’s Uncle Yin’s birthday today. What gift did you get him?”
Jian Yue snapped back to reality and asked, “What gift did you, his goddaughter, get my dad?”
Yin Li said, “It’s a secret.”
Jian Yue smiled. “Mine, too.”
When she went downstairs, Jian Yue saw that Li Qi was also there.
Her family and the Li family had been friends for generations, but she and Li Qi had never become good friends.
Jian Yue remembered that in kindergarten, she and Li Qi used to share a lollipop.
How did they become “enemies” as they grew older?
Li Qi smiled and said she was happy for Jian Yue, for getting away from that scumbag and escaping her miserable life.
Jian Yue knew very well that Li Qi was trying to get under her skin, so she said with a blank expression, “The feeling is mutual.”
“?” Li Qi raised an eyebrow, a fake smile on her face. “Mutual?”
Jian Yue said calmly, “Weren’t you always with that piece of trash? Now that she’s gone, I guess a ‘congratulations’ is in order for you, too.” She paused briefly, then corrected herself. “Oh, no, I should say you two were birds of a feather.” She then smiled sweetly. “Enjoy the food and drinks. I have to go greet the other guests.”
Li Qi was stunned and speechless, watching Jian Yue walk away.
When did Jian Yue become so sharp-tongued?
Yin Li said, “Yueyue, she’s a guest. You were so mean.”
She said it with a smile on her face.
Jian Yue sighed. “I know, I was so mean.” She smiled brightly, picked up a glass of red wine, and downed it in a great mood.
Her stomach started to hurt about half an hour later. Jian Yue frowned. Was it because of the red wine? She put her hand on her abdomen and rubbed it, hoping the massage would ease the sudden pain.
But the throbbing pain grew stronger and stronger, and Jian Yue couldn’t take it anymore. She stood up from the sofa, planning to go upstairs to rest.
“Dad, uncles, everyone…”
Before she could finish her sentence, the pain in her abdomen made Jian Yue’s vision go black.
“Yueyue, what’s wrong?” Jian Guangtao noticed that his daughter’s face was pale. He hurried to his feet and held her. “Are you not feeling well?”
Jian Yue waved her hand, trying to hold it together. “…Dad, I ate too much. My stomach hurts; I need to go to the bathroom…”
Jian Yue couldn’t move her legs. She clenched her teeth, tried to suppress the pain, and quickly went upstairs.
As soon as she reached the bedroom door, she couldn’t hold on any longer. She clutched her stomach and slowly slid down the wall to the floor, letting out a shaky groan of pain.
“Yueyue!”
Yin Li rushed over and saw that Jian Yue’s face was ashen and her forehead was covered in sweat. She froze.
“What’s wrong with you?”
Jian Yue couldn’t take it anymore. “Lili, take me to the hospital. I… I’m pregnant. I just had a glass of wine; I think…” She let out a small gasp from the pain again.
Yin Li was completely stunned. “…Pregnant?”
Jian Yue didn’t answer. She was just thinking that she must have lost the baby. But she felt a strong sense of loss and guilt.
The next second, no, even shorter than that, Jian Yue grabbed Yin Li’s arm. “Hurry up and take me to the hospital. I’m afraid…”
