Married the Second Generation Fox Demon with a Baby in a Flash Marriage - Chapter 15
Ye Xinyu could barely bring herself to look at the screen for more than a second.
She fast-forwarded through the footage. From around eight in the evening until just before midnight, from the moment she was brought to the poolside—it never stopped.
Exactly as in her illusions: a fox with ears and a massive tail, a woman bewitching to the bone. By comparison, the fox-woman was slightly taller and a bit more curvaceous than herself. The face in the recording was blurry, but Ye Xinyu already had a clear image of that face burned into her mind.
That vixen had shown her no mercy; her movements were aggressive and bold. And she… she had limply entangled herself around the creature. No wonder she felt so wretched when she woke up.
As the two remained locked together, the number of tails on the fox spirit continued to increase. Ye Xinyu knew exactly what the number of tails signified for a fox demon. She hadn’t expected that in just a few hours, this creature would transform from a “Small Demon” with one tail into a “Great Demon” with four and a half.
Clearly, while they were together, this scoundrel hadn’t forgotten to absorb her Primal Yin and cultivation for its own use, taking complete advantage of her.
Ye Xinyu’s fists gradually clenched, and her gaze turned lethal.
Toward the end of the footage, she saw the fox spirit dress her and hide her in a corner before leaving. Her expression softened slightly at the gesture, but seeing the girl leap five or six meters in a single bound and vanish in an instant made her eyes sharpen once more.
A Great Demon with four and a half tails… Ye Xinyu might have stood a chance in a fight before, but now it would be difficult. She could feel that her cultivation had dropped significantly.
Ye Xinyu stared at the darkened monitor for a long while, exhaled slowly, and then completely destroyed all the recordings between 8:00 PM and midnight.
When she emerged, Huo Zhilan had already finished confirming several matters over the phone.
“Xinyu, based on what you said, I’ve communicated with the principal. Among this year’s freshmen in the School of Media, there is a girl with a leg disability named Tao Tao. The victim, Xu Lianlian, is her roommate. Today is the start of the October holiday, and Tao Tao has gone home; she’s not at school. She has a close friend named Hu Mengmeng over in the Computer Science department. It’s hard to find people during the holidays, but their admission photos were sent over. Do you want to take a look?”
Ye Xinyu scanned the photos on Aunt Lan’s phone.
In the two photos, Tao Tao appeared pure and introverted—a very quiet-looking girl. Hu Mengmeng, on the other hand, was full of baby fat with round eyes, looking like a child who hadn’t grown up yet.
“The lighting was poor last night, but Tao Tao’s silhouette is somewhat similar to the first demon. Her strength is relatively weak. Have someone keep an eye on her, make sure they carry weapons, and report to me at any time. As for the other demon… it definitely doesn’t look like this Hu Mengmeng. However, have someone watch her too. I’ll find time to see for myself. For now, don’t alert them,” Ye Xinyu said, studying the photos.
While demons can change, their human “transformed state” is usually fixed with very little room for adjustment. The fox spirit Ye Xinyu saw in the recording looked nothing like Hu Mengmeng. Regardless, that vixen must have some connection to these two. Tracking them was the best way to find her.
“Aunt Lan, help me contact the Array Sect. I agree to the terms for that ‘Trapping Formation’ I wanted to buy. Also, buy as many talismans as possible from the Gu family—whatever they have in stock, take it all. As for the Tool Sect… see what Ou Shixing’s attitude is. I’ll agree to any condition other than marriage,” Ye Xinyu ordered.
The Ye family had wealth and influence, but only Ye Xinyu and her grandfather possessed the actual cultivation to hunt demons. Her grandfather was currently injured, and she had been the main pillar of the family for the past few years. In such a large clan, there were many who coveted their position.
With her strength diminished, she had to guard against enemies while simultaneously planning to capture that fox spirit as a Contracted Demon. Her “hardware” had to keep up. Great Demons have sharp instincts and high crisis awareness; ordinary humans are no match for them, and they can easily dodge bullets. Special measures were required.
“Xinyu, you’re planning to…?” Aunt Lan asked, confused.
“I want to capture that Great Demon alive,” Ye Xinyu said. “I need to recover for a few days. Tell Grandpa there’s something keeping me at school.”
In the university canteen, Hu Mengmeng finished her breakfast. Feeling “stuffed” by the suppressed bloodline, she hurried back to her dorm and released it.
Since the dorm was empty, she stayed in bed practicing the suppression and release of her bloodline until she was much more agile and faster at it. After a while, she grew tired and napped until a call from Su Mingli woke her up.
Her mother had arrived at the school.
Hu Mengmeng quickly suppressed her bloodline, dressed, and went out to meet her. Su Mingli was standing under the dorm building with a suitcase. It had been nearly a month; her mother looked the same, but Hu Mengmeng had lost a significant amount of weight.
“You’ve thinned down to a rail! Do you even have strength left? I expected you to help me work, not become a fashion model. You’re like a stick; your clothes look like giant robes! We’re going to waste more money buying new ones!” Su Mingli nagged. Her heart ached for her daughter, but her mouth was full of “complaints.”
“Mom, I’ve still got plenty of strength. Let me take the luggage. Let’s go to the dorm to rest and have some water.”
Inside the dorm, Hu Mengmeng set the bags down and immediately bolted the door.
“What are you doing? Why so mysterious?” Su Mingli asked.
“Mom, drink some water and get ready,” Hu Mengmeng said, handing her a cup. While her mother drank, Hu Mengmeng went into the bathroom, released her fox spirit bloodline fully, and then walked back out.
“Mom, look at me!”
Su Mingli looked up and froze. Hu Mengmeng had wanted to give her a surprise, but her mother’s stunned expression slowly crumbled. Her eyes turned red, and tears overflowed.
“You debt-collector! You actually knew how to come back… you finally came back!” Su Mingli choked out, suddenly reaching out to swat at Hu Mengmeng.
“Mom, what are you talking about?!” Hu Mengmeng was startled.
Su Mingli snapped out of it and looked at her daughter again. She was still a bit different from the person in her memories. “Mom, did you mistake me for someone else?” Hu Mengmeng asked softly.
Su Mingli regained her composure. She hadn’t intended to have such an emotional outburst, but looking at Hu Mengmeng’s face—which now closely resembled her past lover—she simply couldn’t control herself. She covered her face to hide her shaking shoulders. Hu Mengmeng, understanding the pain, reached out and hugged her.
“I’m fine… I just thought of your fox mother. Taken by hunters… I don’t even know if she’s dead or alive. Don’t mind me. Can you change back? This look is too conspicuous; a demon hunter will spot you,” Su Mingli said after a moment, worried.
“Mom, I can control it now. Watch!” Hu Mengmeng demonstrated the process of suppressing and releasing her bloodline. Her features shifted visibly. “When I pull it back, there’s no fox scent at all. Even a hunter standing right in front of me won’t know.”
“Don’t brag. You still need to be careful. Demon hunters aren’t as simple as you think.”
“I know, Mom. Once we find a house and move out, I’ll have you talk to the teacher to get a permit for me to live off-campus. I can stay with you and help with the shop.”
“Living together is fine, but you have to study hard. College isn’t easy. You’ll have plenty of time to help me later; you can’t escape work forever. By the way, how is Tao Tao? I told you to look after her.”
“Tao Tao said she went home. Mom… I have to tell you something. I think Tao Tao is a demon too,” Hu Mengmeng said.
“What? How could Tao Tao be a demon?!”
Hu Mengmeng recounted the events—leaving out the “details” of her encounter with the demon hunter—and mentioned how she had to flee.
“How can demon hunters be so cruel? A girl as good as Tao Tao… even if she is a demon, she’s a good one. You almost got exposed; you must be careful!” Su Mingli said. To her, demons like her lover were good, and she held a deep-seated hatred for hunters.
After confirming with Tao Zhengcheng that Tao Tao had been picked up safely, the two went out to look for apartments. They found a two-bedroom for 2,500 yuan a month—a price that made Su Mingli’s heart bleed, but she chose it for the convenience. Over the next few days, they cleaned the place and began looking for a storefront for the snack shop.
The area near the school was highly competitive. After four or five days, Su Mingli managed to find a tiny, narrow gap of a shop to rent. It was small, but it was a start.
Hu Mengmeng stayed by her mother’s side throughout. Because she kept her bloodline suppressed the entire time she was out, she never noticed that someone was following them.
