Married the Second Generation Fox Demon with a Baby in a Flash Marriage - Chapter 24
“Yes. Getting married,” Ye Xinyu answered firmly, her expression calm.
Ye Xinyu had thought it over—if they weren’t going to form a contract, marriage was the next best option. She hadn’t been home to see her grandfather in many days. The loss of her Primal Yin and her pregnancy were things she couldn’t hide forever.
If Hu Mengmeng were a pure-blooded demon, it would be difficult to explain. If her grandfather found out, he might take it upon himself to slay her. But now that Hu Mengmeng could seal her fox spirit bloodline to the point where even Ye Xinyu couldn’t detect her aura, it was different.
If she brought Hu Mengmeng home to meet her grandfather and took all the responsibility upon herself, everything would have an explanation. In recent years, same-sex marriage had been legalized, and while cases of same-sex couples conceiving were rare despite technological advances, they did exist. Her grandfather would be angry, but he would ultimately be helpless—the “rice was already cooked.”
Sorry, Grandpa, I have to do this.
“I’m only eighteen, how can I get married? I’m not of legal age for a certificate,” Hu Mengmeng blurted out, her face turning red. Just yesterday, she was an upright, diligent, and slightly naive freshman; now, she was about to have a baby and get married?! And her partner was the most famous person on campus, not to mention incredibly beautiful!
“That’s not an issue. We can sign an agreement—a contract marriage. Step one: the marriage. Do you agree?” Ye Xinyu asked.
“I agree!” Hu Mengmeng said.
The obsession left by her fox spirit bloodline made her fiercely resistant to any supernatural “contracts” with Ye Xinyu, but a human “marriage contract” was different. She felt a responsibility toward Ye Xinyu and the child; marriage was the best choice.
“Good. We can discuss the details of the agreement. First, we’ll meet your mother, then my grandfather. We’ll get the marriage certificate either this afternoon or tomorrow morning.”
“Wait, I can’t think clearly in this state. Let’s find a place to talk,” Hu Mengmeng said, scratching her hair. She needed to release her bloodline to get her head straight; her heart was racing, and she felt dizzy.
“Fine. There’s a restaurant on campus. We can talk in a private room there where no one will disturb us,” Ye Xinyu said. She also needed to brief Hu Mengmeng on the “do’s and don’ts” of meeting her grandfather.
They headed to the restaurant and Ye Xinyu ordered two juices for their private room. Once the door was closed, Hu Mengmeng released her bloodline and exhaled. Ye Xinyu sat down and looked at the transformed Hu Mengmeng. The girl’s gaze was much bolder now, staring directly at Ye Xinyu’s face, and her body language had become significantly more alluring.
As the fox spirit bloodline filled the room, Ye Xinyu felt a distinct pull toward Hu Mengmeng, as if the girl were a magnet.
“Sister Ye, does this count as you proposing to me?” Hu Mengmeng asked with a slight smile, her tone a bit flirtatious.
“This is a contract marriage for the sake of the little thing. If you don’t agree, forget it!” Ye Xinyu replied, her face cooling. This little fox… as soon as the spirit took over, she acted like she wanted to take advantage. It was annoying.
“I agree, of course. Marriage is much better than a contract,” Hu Mengmeng smiled. For the sake of the little one in Ye Xinyu’s belly, they were now standard “shotgun wedding” partners.
“I’ll go first with my terms,” Ye Xinyu said calmly, regaining her cold distance. “After we register, only essential family members are to be told. At school, we remain in a senior-junior relationship. Neither party shall interfere in the other’s private life. For the duration of the marriage, we guarantee physical fidelity and must be available whenever called upon. Once the child is born, if we don’t get along or have no feelings for each other, we can divorce at any time. Aside from stabilizing the pregnancy and nurturing the little thing, we shall avoid physical contact as much as possible. Furthermore, property division after divorce and child custody must be settled now so there are no disputes later.”
“Fine, I agree to those. It suits me too. We’ll sign the prenuptial agreement according to your terms. Just don’t let the ‘fake’ acting turn real and find yourself unwilling to divorce later,” Hu Mengmeng said, giving her a lazy, flirtatious look.
“Don’t worry. Your turn,” Ye Xinyu said coldly.
“My demands aren’t many. During our marriage, please do not harm innocent demons. Regarding property, what was ours before the marriage remains ours; I won’t take a penny from you. I will be responsible for the living expenses and nutrition for you and the baby. After the child is born, I will share the burden with you. If we divorce, we’ll decide who keeps the child based on what’s best for them, but the other party must have visitation rights and be allowed to take the child to live with them for periods of time.”
At this point, neither had deep feelings for the other beyond a sense of rivalry, and discussing divorce felt light and easy.
“I’ve noted it all. I’ll have someone draft a formal agreement later. If you’re okay with it, we’ll sign it in triplicate,” Ye Xinyu said.
“Ye Xinyu, how many people know about your identity as a demon hunter?” Hu Mengmeng asked after a while.
“Only three or four people on campus who are also from the Hidden Sects. No one else knows. Demon hunter identities are kept very secret unless dealing with fellow practitioners. The government also wants peace and stability, so demon appearances are usually covered up.”
“Good. My mom hates demon hunters because my fox mother was taken by one and never came back. If she finds out what you are, I don’t know what she’ll do. Don’t tell her for now. As for how we met… we’ll just say it was my fault. We met on the road and somehow…” Hu Mengmeng trailed off.
“Are you sure you can hide it from her?” Ye Xinyu looked at her.
“I’ll tell her at home after releasing my bloodline. We’ll only tell her once. Just make sure you don’t mess up the story when she asks.”
“Fine. Then I’ll tell you about my family. It’s just me and my grandfather. If you come to my house, you MUST keep your fox bloodline sealed. My grandfather hates demons—he’s the type to kill them on sight. If you’re exposed, I might not be able to save you. Also, I won’t tell him I’m pregnant for now, so don’t let it slip.”
“Uh, got it,” Hu Mengmeng said.
They finalized their cover stories for their respective parents. Hu Mengmeng went home first to prepare Su Mingli, while Ye Xinyu waited in the car with Huo Zhilan.
“Xinyu, why did you ask for your household register and ID?” Aunt Lan asked as Ye Xinyu got in.
“To get married,” Ye Xinyu said.
“Huh?” Aunt Lan was stunned.
“Aunt Lan, I’m sorry for keeping this from you for so long.” Since her mother disappeared, Huo Zhilan had been like a mother to her, managing the Ye family’s assets. Ye Xinyu told her everything, starting from the night of the welcome gala.
“She’s inexperienced and a hybrid; she doesn’t know much about the world. It’s hard to say who was at fault for that night, but I’ll teach her slowly as we live together. I can’t use my techniques for now, so postpone the current commissions. I’ll see if she’s willing to take them on; it would be best if she joined the Ye family. As a hybrid, she is half-human, and my Primal Yin was a great tonic for her—she’s already a Great Demon with nearly five tails.”
Huo Zhilan took a long time to process the fact. “Xinyu, can your body handle it? A demon fetus in a human body is…”
“She promised to help me protect the child. The fox clan has its own ways. Just keep this from Grandpa for now until I think of a way to tell him. I’ll take you with me now to meet the girl and her mother.”
Meanwhile, Hu Mengmeng dragged a bewildered Su Mingli back home.
“Mengmeng, what’s the emergency?! Business is peaking right now; if this isn’t life-or-death, I’m going to hit you!” Su Mingli fumed.
“Mom, it is life-or-death. You’re going to be a grandmother! I’m going to be a mom!” Hu Mengmeng said, locking the door and releasing her bloodline.
“What?! You brat, you’re pregnant?!” Su Mingli’s eyes bulged with fury.
“No, no, not me. I got someone else pregnant.”
“You… you got another girl pregnant?! How did I raise you?! You bastard!” Su Mingli was even angrier now. She broke free from Hu Mengmeng’s grip and unleashed a flurry of slaps. Hu Mengmeng just let her vent.
“Mom, are you done? Does your hand hurt? Please don’t be mad. I really didn’t mean it. No one taught me anything, and I have all these messy techniques in my head… I accidentally used one on a senior and… I don’t even know why myself. She came to me because she’s pregnant. I checked; it’s definitely mine. I have to take responsibility, so I want to marry her and raise the child together. The baby is a hybrid like me, and she’s very weak right now.”
Su Mingli’s anger was replaced by worry. She knew the dangers of pregnancy, especially for a hybrid. “What a tragedy! That poor girl… Take me to see her.”
Hu Mengmeng called Ye Xinyu. The car pulled up, and Hu Mengmeng went down to meet them. “This is Aunt Lan, she’s looked after me since I was little,” Ye Xinyu introduced her.
“Hello, Aunt Lan,” Hu Mengmeng said politely. Huo Zhilan was surprised—she expected a “vixen,” but saw a simple, innocent-looking kid.
They went upstairs. Su Mingli had tidied herself up and went to greet them. She hadn’t known what to expect from the “victim” of her daughter’s antics, but the moment she saw Ye Xinyu, she froze.
You brat… you brought back a goddess!
“Mom, this is Ye Xinyu, the person I told you about,” Hu Mengmeng introduced her.
Su Mingli found the name familiar. Then it clicked—wasn’t this the girl on the Wall of Honor? The piano champion, Student Union President, and Martial Arts Club President? The legendary “other person’s child”?
