Married the Second Generation Fox Demon with a Baby in a Flash Marriage - Chapter 33
“Tao Tao, how do you feel?” Hu Mengmeng asked as she supported Tao Tao after ripping off the talismans.
Tao Tao was in tears, her appearance a mess, looking incredibly pitiable. However, there was something different in her gaze now—she was swallowing repeatedly. She looked at Hu Mengmeng with a trace of greed.
Before Hu Mengmeng could react, Tao Tao’s eyes turned entirely black, and black veins crept across her face. She grabbed Hu Mengmeng’s arm and bit down hard. Hu Mengmeng pulled back by reflex, leaving a row of teeth marks on her arm that began to bead with blood.
Hu Mengmeng grabbed Tao Tao’s wrists. The girl was struggling with immense strength; Hu Mengmeng had to exert herself to keep her steady.
“Tao Tao, what’s wrong with you?!” Hu Mengmeng asked in shock.
“I’m hungry, so hungry! Since you’re so good to me, just let me eat you. If I eat you, I can defeat them, and I won’t have to hide anymore! Hehehe, I haven’t seen such a tasty delicacy in so long…” Tao Tao said in her soft, lolita voice, but the words were so horrifying they made Hu Mengmeng’s skin crawl.
“Tao Tao, it’s me! It’s Mengmeng! Wake up!”
“You’re Mengmeng? Stop lying! Let me eat you; it’s your honor to become part of my body!” As she spoke, Tao Tao’s thin fingers clamped around Hu Mengmeng’s throat, her mouth opening to reveal elongated, razor-sharp canines.
Hu Mengmeng couldn’t just let her bite again. She pinned Tao Tao’s wrists and pushed her back, dodging her mouth.
“I’m hungry, I’m hungry! I haven’t eaten in so many days, let me just have a few bites!” Tao Tao began to cry, her voice soft and pleading.
“Tao Tao, I really am Mengmeng. Don’t you remember me?” Hu Mengmeng used an illusion, making Tao Tao see her in her human form. She didn’t dare retract her bloodline for real, though, as Tao Tao’s strength was far too great. “Look, it’s me, it’s really me!”
“Mengmeng… Mengmeng, run! Get out of here!” Tao Tao’s eyes flickered with confusion. The solid black receded, and she spoke with a voice full of pain and struggle.
“Why… why did you get so thin?! How could you do this to me after all the food I fed you!” In an instant, her eyes turned pitch black again, and her voice became raspy and furious.
“Tao Tao? What is happening to you?” Hu Mengmeng pinned her down.
“I fed you so much just to fatten you up so I could eat you! Why did you lose weight! Why?!” Tao Tao shrieked in rage.
Hu Mengmeng froze. Tao Tao fed me… just to fatten me up and eat me? I was just food to her?
Tao Tao didn’t care about Hu Mengmeng’s shock. Her wrists were pinned, so she kicked out with her disabled leg. When it hit Hu Mengmeng, it felt like it stuck to her; teeth actually sprouted from the leg, making Hu Mengmeng hiss in pain.
Hu Mengmeng shoved the leg away and pinned it. She realized that Tao Tao’s thin, disabled leg had turned a darker shade. It was shrouded in black mist, and a human-like face was bulging out from the skin, its blood-red mouth stretching wide as it struggled to tear itself free.
“Humans never tell a single word of truth! I won’t wait any longer, I’m eating you now! I’ll eat all of you! Humans, demons—you’re all my food! I will be the Demon King! Everyone will bow to me!” A raspy, foul-smelling voice erupted from that mouth, making Hu Mengmeng gag.
She had always wondered what kind of demon Tao Tao was; now she saw it, and she didn’t understand it at all. She had never seen anything so disgusting.
This can’t be Tao Tao! Was the old Tao Tao just an act? No, how could it be!
“What’s wrong with her?” Hu Mengmeng pressed Tao Tao’s arms behind her back and looked toward Ye Xinyu’s group.
They were all standing at a distance, behind the sofa and off the rug. Clearly, they had seen this coming. By now, Hu Mengmeng realized that what they had said was true—Ye Xinyu really was trying to save her.
“Heh, told you so, but you wouldn’t believe us. Go ahead, let her eat you!” Gu Yiying jeered from the sidelines.
“I’m sorry, I was wrong. I didn’t know it was like this. What exactly is wrong with her?” Hu Mengmeng asked humbly, despite her embarrassment.
Ye Xinyu looked like she wanted to vomit. She covered her nose and mouth, silent. Her gaze was so cold it made Hu Mengmeng shiver.
“I’ll have to trouble you,” Ye Xinyu whispered, turning to Gu Yiying.
“The wasted talismans and my service fee come out of your account!” Gu Yiying smiled. Ye Xinyu nodded. Gu Yiying walked over and lit a few more talismans, sticking them onto Tao Tao.
Tao Tao was still struggling with immense force. Because Hu Mengmeng wasn’t in her absolute peak state, she was panting from the effort of holding her down. Gu Yiying looked at Hu Mengmeng with surprise—it had taken several of them to pin Tao Tao down earlier, yet Hu Mengmeng was doing it alone.
Once the talismans were in place, the black mist was suppressed. Tao Tao twitched and moaned, her eyes alternating between confusion and clarity. She looked to be in agony.
“What… what do we do now?” Hu Mengmeng asked. She tried to probe Tao Tao’s condition with her spiritual energy, but the moment she sent it in, it was sucked away as if Tao Tao were a vacuum. She didn’t dare try again.
“I’ll tell you this: this talisman suppression is only temporary,” Gu Yiying explained. “Once the energy is used up, we’ll need more. Your friend is, in a sense, human—but also a demon. Neither and both. The thing inside her is called a Human-Faced Parasite, one of the most disgusting types of demons. They usually parasitize limbs, can speak, and eat food. Normally, they’re easy to deal with—you just trick them into drinking a medicinal soup made from spiritual herbs to kill them.”
“But this one inside your friend… it somehow found a way to fuse its bloodline. It has almost become one with her. Medicine won’t work anymore. Its body has dispersed through her flesh, bones, and blood. It’s even trying to seize control of her brain and soul. What we were doing was trying to block it from taking over so we could save your friend. Believe us now?! Your little interruption means we have to start all over again!”
Hu Mengmeng’s eyes reddened and her hands shook. She understood now: Tao Tao was being possessed. Those times Tao Tao told her to run—that was her own will fighting against that monster! She had left home because she didn’t want to hurt anyone.
“I’m sorry, I really didn’t know. Ye Xinyu… please, help her! I beg you!” Hu Mengmeng bowed deeply.
“I don’t do business at a loss,” Gu Yiying said, raising an eyebrow at Ye Xinyu. “Ye Xinyu, is she your contracted demon? As payment, let me borrow this little fox for a few days.”
“No,” Ye Xinyu said raspy.
“No? Then is she your friend? Since when did you make friends with demons?” Gu Yiying asked, stunned.
“She’s not my friend!” Ye Xinyu’s voice was harsh. Hu Mengmeng flinched. I’m nothing to her!
In that moment of distraction, the black mist on Tao Tao surged. The talismans turned to ash. She leaped up and grabbed Hu Mengmeng’s neck from behind, her fangs heading for her jugular.
Ye Xinyu’s hands moved in a blur, firing a streak of golden energy that coiled around Tao Tao, binding her again. Tao Tao screamed. Hu Mengmeng broke free and pinned her down once more, with Gu Yiying rushing to help.
Ye Xinyu retracted her hands, and her body swayed. Her already weakened state couldn’t take the strain. She collapsed toward the floor.
Hu Mengmeng, seeing her fall, bolted over and caught her. Ye Xinyu fainted in her arms. Hu Mengmeng checked her—the little thing in her belly was fluctuating violently. It had drained almost all of Ye Xinyu’s energy and was now greedily pulling energy from her very flesh and bones.
You little brat, how can you do this! This is your mother!
“How can you be so selfish!” Hu Mengmeng whispered, her heart aching. All her previous petty anger vanished.
“What’s wrong with her?” Gu Yiying asked.
“She’s too weak. I’m taking her to her room. I’ll leave Tao Tao to you for a moment.”
“What if she breaks free again?!” Gu Yiying looked wary.
“I’ll be right out,” Hu Mengmeng said, picking Ye Xinyu up in a princess carry.
In the bedroom, Hu Mengmeng focused on stabilizing the fetus and supplying energy. The little thing hungrily accepted the flow, finally settling down after a while.
Once the child was calm, the excess energy began to spread through Ye Xinyu’s body. Her complexion improved slightly, but she remained unconscious, her brow knit in pain, her breathing shallow and ragged.
Hu Mengmeng felt a wave of guilt. She didn’t understand the difference between human and demon cultivation, but seeing Tao Tao’s situation had shown her how much human energy—specifically Ye Xinyu’s golden light—could suppress evil.
Ye Xinyu’s hand suddenly grabbed Hu Mengmeng’s wrist. She was awake. Her cold gaze landed on Hu Mengmeng, making the girl feel both ashamed and pained.
“How are you?” Hu Mengmeng asked softly.
“I’m fine,” Ye Xinyu said, her voice distant and cold.
“Sister Ye, I’m sorry. I should have trusted you. Thank you for just now!”
“No need. Go out. I will recover on my own. Watch your friend and don’t let her break free. Call me when Aunt Lan arrives,” Ye Xinyu said sternly, showing no reaction to the apology.
Hu Mengmeng wanted to say more, but Ye Xinyu had already sat up and closed her eyes to begin meditating. Hu Mengmeng had no choice but to leave.
