Married the Second Generation Fox Demon with a Baby in a Flash Marriage - Chapter 6
That demon hunter was truly terrifying; just having a nightmare about her was enough to scare the ears and tail right out.
Though her heart was pounding and she was trembling, that sensation of clarity returned—a wonderful, strange feeling.
Now much calmer than she had been during the day, Hu Mengmeng thought back to the mountain of high-calorie food she’d inhaled and felt like strangling herself. She switched on the light and grabbed a mirror to see if she had become beautiful yet.
There wasn’t much change to her face—it was still chubby—but her eyelashes looked much longer, as if she’d naturally applied eyeliner. The corners of her eyes tilted upward slightly, and her nose looked a bit more defined.
“We fox spirits are born beautiful. There are no ugly ones—only ‘picture-perfect beauty,’ ‘city-toppling beauty,’ ‘nation-collapsing beauty,’ and ‘peerless beauty’…”
“Those who are ugly aren’t fit to be fox spirits.”
“Those who cannot control their weight are even less worthy.”
These soul-searching questions echoed in her mind. Hu Mengmeng looked at her fat face, fat arms, and fat legs, and burst into tears. She was likely the fattest fox spirit in history—and a hybrid at that. She was dragging down the average for the entire species! She wasn’t worthy of being a fox spirit!
No, she had to lose weight first! Otherwise, even if she didn’t become beautiful, she wouldn’t even be able to run away if she met that demon hunter again.
When she didn’t have the ears and tail out, her self-control was terrible. After the trauma of the previous day, she didn’t want to exercise, and she couldn’t control her mouth—especially with a best friend like Tao Tao, whose hobby was feeding her. Slimming down had seemed impossible.
But right now, Hu Mengmeng was exceptionally determined. While her ears and tail were still out, she would train hard.
But how? Seeking exercise videos online didn’t feel right. Just as she had the thought, a memory seemed to unlock. Something in her mind dissolved, revealing a strange set of breathing techniques.
“The Fox Spirit clan has occupied the position of ‘Most Beautiful’ among the demon races for ages. Beyond innate beauty, we have our own methods to ensure every dimension of the body reaches the golden ratio. Remember: there are only lazy foxes, no ugly foxes.”
Uh… Hu Mengmeng marveled. This saved her the trouble of searching the internet.
She didn’t need to do any physical movements. Following the memory, she began to meditate and breathe, absorbing “spiritual qi” into her body. These bits of qi were tiny, shimmering spots of light—wonderful to look at but difficult to catch. Hu Mengmeng exhausted herself just to absorb a tiny bit.
It is said that heaven and earth have spirit; both animals and humans can absorb spiritual qi. For humans, it strengthens the body and extends life; for animals, it raises intelligence and allows them to cultivate into human form.
Hu Mengmeng didn’t quite understand it yet, but she followed the instructions. Soon, she was drenched in sweat. Her body felt sore and numb, as if bitten by ants, and she was incredibly tired. Yet, a mysterious willpower to become beautiful kept her going.
The fox form lasted longer than before before fading. Hu Mengmeng was spent, looking as if she’d been fished out of a river. The sweat on her body was a dark, greasy gray and smelled terrible. Once her ears and tail vanished, the spiritual qi disappeared, and her willpower went with it. she took a quick shower and fell into a deep sleep instantly.
The next morning, her body felt weak. She stepped on the scale before breakfast and found she had lost 5 pounds! She was down to 175 pounds.
She remembered what happened that night, but during the day, she couldn’t feel the qi at all. The self-control she had at night was gone. Tao Tao came over with more food, and since Hu Mengmeng had exhausted herself the night before, she spent the whole day lounging on the sofa, eating and drinking.
By evening, she weighed herself again. She had gained back 6 pounds!
Hu Mengmeng was helpless. She couldn’t just not eat, right?
But in the middle of the night, she dreamed of the demon hunter again and woke up in a fright. The nightmare triggered her fox ears and tail once more.
Touching the tail actually made her feel a bit safer. Recalling Tao Tao’s feeding frenzy from earlier, her stomach lurched. While in fox form, she realized that as long as she stayed in this apartment, the demon hunter probably couldn’t find her.
She resumed her “Weight Loss and Body Sculpting Method.” She decided her weight loss speed at night had to exceed Tao Tao’s “fattening” speed during the day.
When her tail began to shrink during the breathing exercise, she forced herself to remember the dream of being chased by the demon hunter. As her heart raced and she trembled with fear, the tail grew back out, and she continued her cultivation.
She did this for two sessions. After showering, she weighed herself: 173 pounds. She had lost 8 pounds!
Whether it was the method itself or the fact that her heart rate spiked in fox form, the speed was incredible.
Better than yesterday. Keep going! Hu Mengmeng pumped her fist and went to sleep.
At the same time, in an abandoned factory on the outskirts of Taolin County.
Ye Xinyu, sword in hand, stared coldly at a handsome man. He wore a ginger-colored long robe and had an enchanting look—yellow hair and amber-yellow eyes that looked eerie.
After tracking for days, Ye Xinyu had finally found the leader of the Yellow-Haired Rat Demons. If she killed this one, the infestation in Taolin County would stop spreading and be easy to handle.
“A member of the Ye family. Excellent,” the man laughed, his voice echoing. “The Ye family has committed too many sins; even heaven won’t forgive you. Now only that old fossil and you are left. Today, I’ll kill you, end the Ye line, and avenge the Young Master! I hear that before a daughter of the Ye family breaks her chastity, her ‘Primal Yin’ is a great tonic. Once I absorb yours, my cultivation will skyrocket! Then we’ll see which human can defeat me! Hahaha!”
Ye Xinyu, having just killed several attacking minor demons, focused on recovering her strength. Hearing his words, a dark golden light flared in her eyes.
“Slaying demons and purging evil is the destiny of my Ye family. Today is the day you die!” She swung her longsword and lunged.
The man flew into the air, a smirk on his face. He snapped his fingers, and hundreds of cat-sized yellow rats swarmed out. They hadn’t taken human form, but they had razor-sharp fangs. A hundred such creatures was a terrifying sight.
Ye Xinyu frowned. He was prepared. Dealing with this many rats would drain her stamina before she even fought the leader. Fortunately, she knew the reproductive rate of these rats and had prepared accordingly.
“Charms!”
Ignoring the rats pouncing at her, she shouted toward the air and leaped toward the leader. Yellow paper charms suddenly flew through the air, sticking precisely to the foreheads of the rats. The charms ignited, and the ferocity in the rats’ eyes vanished. They shrunk in size, falling from the air like headless flies and scurrying back into the earth.
“The Talisman Sect!” the man cried out in shock, but it was too late. Ye Xinyu’s sword was already upon him.
When the blade touched his skin, it felt like red-hot iron—burning and corrosive. He howled in pain. His handsome face distorted; his mouth grew wide, his teeth turned into long fangs, and his hands became sharp claws that lunged at Ye Xinyu.
This rat demon was far stronger and faster than the previous ones. One claw slashed Ye Xinyu’s shoulder—she couldn’t dodge in time. Her clothes tore, and four bloody gashes appeared on her arm.
She grunted in pain but didn’t stop. She kicked his claw away and thrust her sword straight at his face. They were evenly matched—one fighting with frenzied counterattacks, the other with cold, fearless precision.
“Ye Xinyu, this big guy is tough. My charms can only stun him for two seconds. I only have one left; make it count.” A female voice rang in Ye Xinyu’s ear.
“Stop talking!” Ye Xinyu barked.
A charm flew onto the man’s back. Preoccupied with Ye Xinyu, he didn’t notice. The moment it touched him, his mind went blank. Ye Xinyu decisively pierced his vitals, pinning him to the ground. As he struggled, she leaned on her sword hilt, panting for breath.
“Aha! Perfect! You Sword Sect folks only know how to use brute force. Tsk tsk, this rat’s cultivation was quite high. Don’t waste the fur and blood. As agreed, the corpse is mine.”
A beautiful woman walked gracefully toward them. She wore a stunning gold sequined dress with a slit up to her waist, showing off a bold silhouette. She looked as if she were attending a gala rather than walking through a derelict factory.
“Gu Yiying, there’s one more rat demon over there,” Ye Xinyu said coldly, looking up at the newcomer.
“Whoa! No way!” The woman, Gu Yiying, jumped back, clearly frightened.
“Glass cannon. Coward,” Ye Xinyu muttered as the demon beneath her sword died, transforming into a giant yellow rat the size of a Samoyed. She drew her sword and walked past Gu Yiying.
“Ye Xinyu! Hey, don’t leave! You can’t do this, help me clean this up!” Gu Yiying shouted.
Ye Xinyu ignored her until she saw Aunt Lan rushing toward her. A flash of pain crossed her face. Aunt Lan supported her, looking at the wound on her arm. The blood had turned a dark, bruised purple. Aunt Lan gasped.
“It’s poisoned. No matter,” Ye Xinyu said with a slight frown. Her expression remained unchanged, as if the injury belonged to someone else. “Rat demons of a certain level have toxins in their claws. Let’s get to the car.”
“You’re a maniac. You kept fighting while the poison spread!” Gu Yiying walked over and shook her head.
“Miss Gu, apologies, but we must leave,” Aunt Lan said, helping Ye Xinyu toward the vehicle.
