Married the Second Generation Fox Demon with a Baby in a Flash Marriage - Chapter 7
The following night, Hu Mengmeng didn’t have a nightmare and slept soundly until dawn. However, because she didn’t transform into her fox state again, the weight she had struggled to lose rebounded, and she actually gained ten more pounds than her original starting weight.
It wasn’t until the night of her birthday that the nightmares returned.
According to Su Mingli, once she turned eighteen, the fox spirit bloodline would begin to unseal and spread throughout her body over the course of about a year. After that year, if she hadn’t found a way to hide her aura or suppress the bloodline, she would be constantly visible to demon hunters.
Paralyzed by fear, Hu Mengmeng had another nightmare, grew ears and a tail, and entered her half-fox form. When she woke up this time, she felt the “melting” sensation in her mind accelerating.
Seeing her skyrocketing weight, Hu Mengmeng grabbed her own ears and gave herself a pinch. Afraid she wouldn’t know when she’d enter the fox state again, she wrote a note and taped it to the ceiling above her bed so she would see it whenever she lay down:
“Do you want Xiaoya to like you? Think of the terror of being chased by a demon hunter’s sword! Grow your ears and tail and start losing weight—START NOW!”
Every night before bed, she stared at those words. Even when her mind was cloudy, she forced herself to recall the terrifying image of the demon hunter and the moments she was mocked by Lin Yuanya. Out of sheer cowardice and fear, she would successfully enter the fox state and begin her “Weight Loss and Body Sculpting Method.”
Without a teacher or memories specifically regarding hybrids, she had to figure it out herself, relying on the mental image of the demon hunter to trigger her transformation.
By the time school was about to start, Hu Mengmeng’s weight had fluctuated down to 130 pounds. She had also grown several centimeters, rising from 161cm to 165cm. Despite the rapid weight loss, her skin showed no signs of sagging. Her features hadn’t changed much—round eyes and a round face—but she was a size smaller, making her look even cuter.
In her fox form, the change was even more dramatic. Her face looked as if it had an “Instagram filter” applied, and her legs looked like they had been lengthened by special effects. She now looked like a normal, slightly curvy girl, and her body felt much lighter.
Su Mingli was shocked by the speed of the weight loss and even took her to the hospital, but when the check-up came back clean, she guessed it was the unsealing of the bloodline.
Tao Tao, who had been with her daily, hadn’t noticed much until she left for four days to visit her grandmother. Without Tao Tao’s constant snacks and with Su Mingli keeping her away from high-calorie food, Hu Mengmeng leaned down rapidly. When Tao Tao returned, she was horrified.
“Mengmeng, how did you lose so much weight?!” Tao Tao asked, her brow furrowing slightly.
“Tao Tao, do you know how much I’ve lost?” Hu Mengmeng couldn’t help but brag. “Over forty pounds! At this rate, I’ll be under a hundred soon!”
“How is that possible? Is there something wrong with your health?” Tao Tao looked genuinely worried.
“I’m fine! It’s because I do special weight-loss exercises at night. Hehe, surprise!”
Tao Tao’s face turned pale, and her body gave a small shiver.
“Tao Tao, what’s wrong?” Hu Mengmeng asked, concerned by her friend’s sudden pallor.
“Nothing… I’m just tired. I want to take a nap,” Tao Tao whispered, her lips trembling as if she were restraining something.
As soon as Hu Mengmeng left the room, Tao Tao began to shake violently.
“I want to eat her! Eat her! I can’t wait any longer!” a low, raspy voice roared from within her.
“No, no! Please, I beg you! No!” Tao Tao collapsed to the floor, weeping and pleading.
“I cannot wait! If I eat her, your leg will be healed, and I will have a new body! If she keeps getting thinner, there won’t be enough of her to eat!” the voice growled.
Tao Tao scrambled to the fridge, pulling out raw chicken legs and bloody beef, shoving them toward her skirt. Beneath the fabric, on her withered leg, a hideous, face-shaped sore emerged from a swirl of black mist, its mouth wide and vocalizing. The creature looked at the raw meat with disdain but bit down anyway.
August 30th arrived. It was time to report to school. Su Mingli was increasingly anxious about being away from her daughter.
“Remember, you MUST NOT get emotional. Fengcheng isn’t like our small Taolin County,” she warned.
“Mom, I’ll be fine! Look at me, I’ve been fine lately,” Hu Mengmeng said, hiding the fact that she was “forced” into fox form every night.
“How can I be at peace? Fine, in a few days, I’m moving my shop to Fengcheng,” Su Mingli declared. She hated to give up her successful local business, but her daughter’s safety came first.
On the 31st, Tao Zhengcheng drove the two girls to school. Tao Tao was attending the School of Media (studying Animation Design), while Hu Mengmeng was at the Tanshan College (Computer Science). Both were under the umbrella of Fengcheng University and located on the same campus.
“Tao Tao, are you sick? You look terrible,” Su Mingli noted as they got into the car.
“I’m just a bit carsick. I’ll sit in the front,” Tao Tao forced a smile.
Once they arrived, they handled the registrations. While paying fees, they saw a red banner: “Warm Congratulations to our student Ye Xinyu for winning First Prize in the Clayis International Piano Competition.”
“Is this Ye Xinyu student very famous?” Su Mingli asked curiously.
“Famous? She’s incredible!” the student guide said enthusiastically. “She’s the first undergraduate to be on the Wall of Honor. She’s a world-renowned Life Sciences researcher, the President of the Student Union, and the Captain of the Martial Arts Club. Most importantly… she could live off her looks, but she chooses to rule with her talent.”
“Truly a ‘child of someone else,'” Su Mingli sighed, shooting a pointed look at Hu Mengmeng.
They settled Tao Tao into her dorm first. The Media School dorms were artistic, covered in oil-painting murals.
“No way! Tao Tao, you’re in a dorm with Xu Lianlian!” Hu Mengmeng cried out, seeing the name list on the door. Xu Lianlian was the sharp-tongued girl who hung around Lin Yuanya.
“It’s the same no matter who it is,” Tao Tao said listlessly.
After helping Hu Mengmeng settle in and buying them a small electric scooter and two pink helmets, the parents prepared to leave. Tao Zhengcheng had to work the next day, and Su Mingli wanted to get her moving plan started.
After the adults left, Hu Mengmeng walked Tao Tao back to her dorm.
“Tao Tao, are you sure you don’t want to come to my dorm for a bit?”
“I’m fine, Mengmeng. I just need to sleep.”
Shortly after Hu Mengmeng left, Xu Lianlian walked into the dorm. She saw Tao Tao, curled her lip, and didn’t even say hello. “So unlucky, hmph!” she muttered, sitting down to fix her makeup.
Tao Tao’s body trembled under her covers. Her dark eyes flickered with a hint of black mist.
“Eat her first. She’ll make a good snack,” the low voice whispered in Tao Tao’s ear. Tao Tao pulled the quilt over her head, shivering in terror.
