Married the Second Generation Fox Demon with a Baby in a Flash Marriage - Chapter 9
Hu Mengmeng was sweating profusely by the time she reached her dorm. Despite the weight loss, she was still a bit curvy, and the scorching heat made the walk feel like a heavy workout.
Her dorm was in a newly built hall. The tuition and housing fees here were double those of the first-tier colleges, but the facilities were decent: a four-person room with air conditioning, a water heater, and loft beds with desks and bookshelves underneath.
After a quick shower, she collapsed onto her bed. For someone who loathed exercise, today’s running around was exhausting. Her roommates—Yu Luolu, Si Xiaoqi, and Zhao Qingqing—soon returned. Thanks to the snacks Su Mingli had distributed earlier, the atmosphere was friendly. Their first impression of Hu Mengmeng was that she was a slightly plump, gentle, and simple-minded girl.
That evening, the counselor called a meeting. Hu Mengmeng stayed in bed until 7:00 PM before heading to the classroom with her roommates.
In the Computer Science major, girls were a minority—only about a third of the thirty-person class. In the classroom, boys and girls stole glances at one another, and the more attractive or outgoing ones quickly made friends. Sitting with Zhao Qingqing, Hu Mengmeng had zero interest in the boys. She scanned the other girls, but none met her aesthetic criteria—not a single one reached the “picture-perfect” level. Without any “eye candy” to spark her interest, she started to doze off.
She snapped awake the moment the counselor entered. The counselor was a woman in her late twenties named Shen Yuexi. With her hair half-tied back, wearing black high heels, a pencil skirt, and a white blazer, she looked sharp and professional.
“Hello everyone, I am Shen Yuexi, your counselor,” she said with a smile. As she scanned the room, her gaze lingered on Hu Mengmeng for a second, looking slightly puzzled before moving on.
During the self-introductions, everyone tried to show off their personality. When it was Hu Mengmeng’s turn, she felt she had no special traits to speak of. “My name is Hu Mengmeng,” she said honestly. “I’m from Taolin County. My hobby is eating, and I have no special skills.” Her awkward smile drew a roar of laughter from the class. The initial impression was set: this unremarkable girl was a silly, lovable goofball.
After the meeting, they went to collect their books. While the boys played the part of gentlemen by carrying books for the other girls, Hu Mengmeng lugged her own pile back. Looking at titles like Advanced Mathematics, Linear Algebra, College Physics, and C Language Fundamentals, a dark shadow loomed over her heart. Wasn’t college supposed to be easy?
The next day, military training began. Hu Mengmeng was far too exhausted to even think about her fox form. She was a “tired dog” every day, falling into a deep sleep the second she hit the bed. She had no time to see Tao Tao, communicating only through quick texts.
However, the intense physical exertion seemed to accelerate her metabolism. Every morning, she woke up covered in a layer of greasy sweat that required a shower. Between the training and the lack of her mother’s home cooking, her weight plummeted. By the end of training, she had dropped from 130 pounds to 105 pounds. Her stamina improved too; she went from fainting on day one to completing drills with ease.
The transformation was striking: a slender waist, thin shoulders, and an oval face where the baby fat used to be. Her eyes looked larger, her lashes longer and denser. The shape of her eyes changed subtly—the inner corners hooked downward while the outer corners tilted up, giving her a stunning, feline look.
Because she was constantly sleep-deprived and wore a camouflage cap that obscured her face, neither her instructors nor her roommates—who saw her gradual change every day—realized just how much she had transformed.
On the night of the freshman welcome gala, Hu Mengmeng, worried about not hearing from Tao Tao, slipped away from her own college’s event and headed toward the School of Media. She couldn’t reach Tao Tao by phone and, after asking around, learned her friend had left the venue early.
In a garden near the Media School, Tao Tao was limping along her crutch, looking gloomy. The “thing” on her leg was agitated. She had tried to hide in a secluded spot, but ran right into Xu Lianlian.
“What bad luck, running into you again!” Xu Lianlian snapped. “Hey, stinky cripple, move aside. You’re blocking my way!”
In the darkness, Tao Tao looked up, her eyes swirled with black mist. Xu Lianlian’s constant bullying had fueled Tao Tao’s negative emotions, allowing the entity on her leg to take control.
“You stinky cripple, don’t try to scare me!” Xu Lianlian scoffed, trying to brush past. Suddenly, Tao Tao reached out with unnatural strength and clamped a hand over Xu Lianlian’s mouth.
“A woman… unfortunately not a virgin, carries the filthy scent of men…” a raspy voice whispered. Xu Lianlian’s eyes bulged as she felt something wet and tongue-like wrap around her leg. CRACK. Her ankle was bitten through. She tried to scream, but her mouth was sealed shut. She eventually fainted from the agonizing pain.
“Aunt Lan, wait! I sense a strong fluctuation near the Media School,” Ye Xinyu said, stopping the car.
“Xinyu, you haven’t recovered from the poison yet,” Aunt Lan warned.
“There are students there. I have to check,” Ye Xinyu replied. She grabbed her Evil-Slayer Sword, donned a mask, and sprinted toward the garden.
She followed the scent of blood and found one girl holding another in the shadows. Angered, Ye Xinyu lunged with her sword. The “Tao Tao” entity used the fainted Xu Lianlian as a human shield, forcing Ye Xinyu to deflect her blade. Taking the chance, the entity fled, limping but moving with incredible speed.
“Aunt Lan, there’s a student injured behind the rockery at the Media School. Call Gu Yiying to handle it. I’m giving chase!” Ye Xinyu spoke into her headset as she pursued the creature.
Hu Mengmeng was frantically searching for Tao Tao when she spotted the familiar limping figure. “Tao Tao! You’re covered in blood!”
She ran forward to help, only to see the slender woman in black charging with a longsword.
“A demon hunter! Is she after you?! Run!” Hu Mengmeng panicked, grabbing Tao Tao.
The entity in Tao Tao wanted to use Hu Mengmeng as a shield, but the real Tao Tao fought for control, shoving Hu Mengmeng away. “Mengmeng, run! Don’t worry about me!”
Hu Mengmeng was terrified, but she had promised to protect Tao Tao. “Run, Tao Tao! I’ll hold her off!” She threw herself in front of Ye Xinyu.
As she ran, her ears and tail erupted. This was her first transformation at 105 pounds. Her height increased, her curves became lethal, and her face took on a demonic, bewitching beauty. Red marks like tattoos appeared on her forehead and eyes.
Ye Xinyu tried to bypass her, but Hu Mengmeng’s movements were now preternaturally agile. She blocked every path. Ye Xinyu swung her sword, the sharp tip causing Hu Mengmeng’s heart to race. In a moment of pure instinct, Hu Mengmeng leaped over a meter into the air, dodging the strike.
As Ye Xinyu attacked again, Hu Mengmeng’s eyes turned golden with red vertical pupils. A memory dissolved in her mind:
Fox Clan Survival Skill: Charm. Use beauty to bewitch the heart and disrupt the soul.
Hu Mengmeng lunged at Ye Xinyu with all her strength. Ye Xinyu prepared to strike, but then she saw a pendant slip from Hu Mengmeng’s collar: a red cord with a silver bell.
The bell bore a unique mark of the Sword Sect.
Ye Xinyu froze for a fraction of a second. She looked into Hu Mengmeng’s eyes and was instantly dazed by the Charm. The next moment, she was tackled to the ground by the fox-girl.
Ye Xinyu grunted as a powerful force slammed into her mind. Not good! Her vision blurred as she looked into the pulsing red glow of Hu Mengmeng’s pupils. Her resistance crumbled, and her gaze went vacant.
