My Ex-Boyfriend Became the Back of My Car - Chapter 6
Tang Zhou quickly forced a smile and said, “Officer, you’ve got the wrong guy.” He carefully pointed toward the cargo compartment with his finger. “The people inside are the ones you should be arresting.” Chen Shen eyed him suspiciously. Tang Zhou’s familiarity with the situation didn’t seem like a case of mistaken identity.
According to the intel he’d received, the body snatchers were active in this area, and it was unlikely anyone else would know about it—let alone coincidentally be here. He immediately said, “Save your words for the police station!”
Tang Zhou’s face fell, and even the unruly tuft of hair on his head seemed to droop. Did he really look like a criminal? “Officer, you really have the wrong person. Hear me out—no, wait, let me explain.”
Awkwardly pointing at the cargo compartment again, he blurted out in one breath, “They’re the ones you should be arresting! They’re the body snatchers. I found out my master’s body had been stolen, so I checked the surveillance footage and chased them here. Just now, I was the one who locked them inside.”
Chen Shen didn’t show whether he believed him or not. He asked coolly, “Then why are you so familiar with this truck?”
Tang Zhou perked up—there was a chance! He hurriedly explained, “I know my way around trucks because earlier, I pretended to be a mechanic to lower their guard. I even inspected the vehicle—my toolbox is still over there. See for yourself if you don’t believe me.” Chen Shen followed his gaze and saw that it was indeed the case. Noticing Chen Shen’s expression soften, Tang Zhou pressed his advantage. “Officer, just let me go first. Catching the thieves is more urgent. If we delay, I’m afraid they might damage the body.”
Chen Shen released him. If Tang Zhou was lying, he could always catch him again in no time. Rubbing his wrist, Tang Zhou then scanned the surroundings. “Officer, are you alone here?” Chen Shen nodded. This operation was supposed to be covert—he had come alone to gather intel, planning to reel in a bigger fish. He hadn’t expected things to take such a turn, but he believed that justice would prevail in the end.
Hearing this, Tang Zhou suggested, “Then how about this—I’ll open the door. If they come out, you can subdue them right away.” Chen Shen acknowledged his goodwill but declined. “No need. Just stay out of the way.” Well, that was a clear dismissal. Not one to push his luck, Tang Zhou quickly shuffled aside—his foot was still hurting, after all. Chen Shen stood behind the truck, took a deep breath, and moved like lightning—unlocking, opening the door, and drawing his gun in one fluid motion.
Xiong San hadn’t expected things to go south like this. He’d been tricked by some random guy! Kicking the door in frustration, he growled, “Just wait till I get out. That brat’s gonna end up inside one of these boxes.”
Xiong Si looked remorseful. “Third Brother, this is all my fault. If I’d been more careful, we wouldn’t be in this mess.”
Xiong San cut off his lament. “Learn from this. Next time, be more thorough and stop being so reckless.”
Xiong Si nodded heavily. “Third Brother, what do we do now? If that guy’s a cop, we’re in trouble.”
Xiong San shook his head, thinking for a moment. “If he were a cop, he wouldn’t be stalling. My guess is his family’s in one of these boxes, so he made up an excuse to check. Just wait—he’ll open the door soon enough.” As if to prove his point, the door swung open the next second. He smirked triumphantly.
“See? What did I tell you?” But his next words caught in his throat, his smug expression freezing in place.
“Police! Freeze, or I’ll shoot!” Chen Shen’s gaze was as sharp as an eagle’s, instantly making Xiong San and the others hesitate to act recklessly. Xiong San could tell—if they dared move, bullets would pierce through them the next second. He didn’t dare take that gamble.
Once they were handcuffed, Xiong Si spotted Tang Zhou nearby and immediately flared up with anger. This was all Tang Zhou’s fault—if not for him, they wouldn’t be in this mess. Just as he was about to lash out, Xiong San stopped him. Tang Zhou had expected a fierce brawl, but the situation had been resolved so swiftly and brutally. It seemed the police officers’ reputation was well-deserved.
Seeing them restrained, Tang Zhou tried to climb into the truck, but his injured foot made it impossible. Noticing this, Chen Shen asked, “What are you trying to do?” Tang Zhou turned and grabbed Chen Shen’s hand. He had just uttered the words “Officer Uncle” when Chen Shen cut him off. Puzzled, Tang Zhou looked up.
Chen Shen cleared his throat and said succinctly, “My name is Chen Shen.” Tang Zhou immediately understood. Chen Shen didn’t seem much older than him, so being called “uncle” by someone his age must have felt awkward.
Catching on, Tang Zhou said, “I’m Tang Zhou. Officer Chen, could you help carry my husband’s body down?” Chen Shen frowned. “We can have the truck driven to the station. You can take him back after giving your statement.”
“No,” Tang Zhou shook his head urgently. “Officer Chen, my husband isn’t dead—he’s just unconscious. If too much time passes, I’m afraid he really might…” Before he could finish, Chen Shen immediately climbed into the truck. “Which crate is he in?”
“The first one on the left.” Chen Shen swiftly opened the first crate. Inside lay a pale, gaunt man, motionless. If not for his illness-induced weight loss, he would have been even more striking than most celebrities.
Chen Shen quickly lifted him out and jumped down from the truck. Tang Zhou pointed to his car. “Officer Chen, my car is over there.” Chen Shen nodded, carried Feng Cang’s body to the car, then hurried back to lock the two body snatchers in the truck again. “Let’s head to the station,” he told Tang Zhou.
Tang Zhou agreed and slowly made his way to the car. The moment Chen Shen placed Feng Cang’s body inside, the task of preventing the vehicle explosion was completed. Now, only the task of kissing Feng Cang for thirty seconds remained, with half an hour left on the countdown. Tang Zhou studied Feng Cang’s handsome face, particularly the small mole on his lips, which added a touch of mystery.
This was the first time he had seen Feng Cang’s appearance. During their online relationship, Tang Zhou had sent his own photos one-sidedly. He had asked for Feng Cang’s pictures before, but Feng Cang refused, claiming he was “ugly.”
The matter was eventually dropped. They had voice-chatted, and from his voice alone, Tang Zhou could tell he was a looker. Not that it mattered—he was a sucker for a good voice. He never expected their first meeting to happen like this.
“Mr. Feng, you don’t look bad at all. Is this what you call ‘ugly’?” Feng Cang, seeing his own current state, replied awkwardly, “Isn’t it?”
Tang Zhou laughed and pinched his bony frame. “Fine, fine. If you say you’re ugly, then you’re ugly. But it doesn’t matter—this is just a temporary vessel. I won’t complain. Think of it as gnawing on bones.” Tang Zhou’s gaze drifted to Feng Cang’s lips. Just as he leaned in to kiss him, an intense stare bore into the back of his head, making him feel like he was cheating right in front of the real deal.
He coughed awkwardly. “Mr. Feng, I’m about to start. Are you sure you want to watch? Isn’t this a bit inappropriate?” Feng Cang said innocently, “You kiss yours, I watch mine. What’s wrong with that?”
Tang Zhou fell silent for a moment upon hearing this, then finally sighed helplessly, “As you wish.” He tried his best to ignore that burning gaze as he slowly leaned in. Just then, a childish voice rang out again, “Car inside, you’re surrounded. Surrender immediately.”
The next second, the car door was opened. Tang Zhou paid no mind, continuing to press his lips against Feng Cang’s, waiting for the mission completion prompt. But strangely, the notification never came. He could only straighten up and meet the eyes of Chen Shen outside and the traffic cop who’d been chasing him.
What an epic social disaster—one spectator wasn’t enough, now two more had joined. “If I said I was giving my husband mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, would you believe me?”
Chen Shen: “…”
Traffic cop: “…”
Chen Shen and the officer exchanged bewildered glances. Chen Shen spoke first, “Xiao Wang, what exactly is going on here?” Clearly, he knew the traffic cop. Wang Long said indignantly, “Brother Chen, you have no idea—this guy was street racing, driving like a bat out of hell. I had to work so hard to catch up with him.”
Chen Shen’s authoritative gaze immediately swept over, his hand twitching near his waist. Tang Zhou swallowed dryly, “Officer, if I said that was just your imagination, would you believe me? I wasn’t speeding.” The next moment, cold metal clamped around his wrists again.
Wang Long said sternly, “You can explain everything at the station. I’ll give you that chance.” Tang Zhou looked at the handcuffs on his wrists with utter despair. Just end me now! The mission had barely started, and already he was in cuffs. He could already imagine—one wrong move, and he’d be singing the prison blues.
But that wasn’t the worst part. The most terrible, most dreadful thing was that if he failed to complete the kissing Feng Cang mission, he’d have to dance with the car. Just thinking about it made his scalp crawl. Had he kissed wrong? Not deeply enough? Or was the system lagging?
Watching Wang Long concentrate on driving, Tang Zhou decided—screw it. With the countdown about to end, he shifted and leaned in again, this time moving his lips actively. His body might still be in the car, but his soul had already left. In the end, he stared blankly, stars practically visible above his head, watching helplessly as the countdown reached zero.
If there hadn’t been outsiders present, he would’ve demanded answers from Feng Cang—what the hell was going on? He slowly closed his eyes, waiting for the punishment. One second, two seconds… Waiting… until Tang Zhou fell asleep. He’d been running around since early morning, his nerves stretched taut. Now that he’d resigned himself to fate, it was no wonder he dozed off. Even an iron body would’ve given out.
Feng Cang could only fret helplessly watching Tang Zhou like this. If his limbs worked properly and he wasn’t bound to the car, he would’ve held Tang Zhou tight to comfort him. At the same time, he wondered—why hadn’t the mission completed despite Tang Zhou kissing his body for so long? Where had things gone wrong?
When Tang Zhou woke up, he was already at the police station. Chen Shen gave him an indescribable look upon seeing him awake—after hearing from Xiao Wang about Tang Zhou’s behavior in the car, he wondered if the man had some strange fetish.
Seeing Chen Shen’s expression, Tang Zhou guessed there must be some misunderstanding, but he couldn’t care less right now. He was still fine, with no sensation of being forced to dance with the car. He figured the system must be glitching.
He remembered Feng Cang mentioning something about the system kernel being too small or defective. He needed to hurry back—lingering any longer risked sudden punishment. At this thought, Tang Zhou straightened his posture, maintaining a composed and respectful demeanor.
“Officer Chen, I’ll answer any questions you have truthfully and thoroughly,” he said—just finish up so I can go back! Chen Shen averted his gaze, scribbling in his notebook before asking sternly, “Name.”
“Tang Zhou.”
……
After all the basic information was recorded, Chen Shen suddenly asked, “What exactly is your relationship with Feng Cang? And why did you appear at that exact location without fail?”
