My Omega Is A Top Heavenly Master (GL) - Chapter 2
Mu Baicheng had rarely slept so comfortably in the heat of midsummer; all night, her tiny room felt as if a 16°C air conditioner had been running.
The sensation in her arms was icy and refreshing—beyond comfortable. Before her consciousness had fully cleared, her arms tightened, instinctively pulling the source of the cooling relief closer.
However, the blaring alarm on her phone shattered her peaceful morning. Mu Baicheng reached toward the bedside with annoyance. The cooling source in her arms was indeed pleasant, but it felt a bit heavy.
She swiped the alarm off, wanting to linger a moment longer with her “human ice pack.” Wait—Mu Baicheng’s eyes snapped open.
The sensation of “icy skin and jade bones” against her was clearly human skin. And in this dilapidated shack, there was no one else but Qin Xiyao.
Mu Baicheng looked down abruptly and discovered that at some point, Qin Xiyao had slid inside her shirt. Their skin was pressed together, intimate and seamless.
The softness of the Omega’s chest brushed against her own. Startled, Mu Baicheng scrambled backward, her head hitting the headboard with a dull thud. The commotion woke the beauty in her arms. Qin Xiyao opened her eyes, her rippleless gaze shimmering with a hint of annoyance, as if blaming Mu Baicheng for waking her.
Rubbing her head, Mu Baicheng hurriedly grabbed Qin Xiyao by the waist and pulled her out of her shirt. With that tug, the Omega’s graceful figure was exposed to her eyes. Mu Baicheng grabbed the thin summer quilt—which she rarely used—and draped it over Qin Xiyao.
“You, you, you… how could you…” Mu Baicheng couldn’t finish a sentence. It was true she had a defective gland, but she was still an Alpha! Did Omegas nowadays really have no sense of self-protection?
Qin Xiyao rubbed her eyes, shrugged off the quilt, and fell back into Mu Baicheng’s arms. Her voice was thin and cool. “You’re so noisy. I want to sleep a bit longer.”
Mu Baicheng held her hands up in the air as if her pressure points had been struck. In her thirty years of life, this was the first time she had faced such a situation. It wasn’t that Omegas hadn’t approached her before, but the moment they realized her gland was defective, they all stayed far away.
For the past thirty years, the closest she had been to an Omega was eating a meal face-to-face. What was the situation now? Skipping all the courtship and fast-forwarding straight to this step? No, no, no. Mu Baicheng pulled the quilt and wrapped Qin Xiyao up like a burrito.
She jumped off the bed herself, putting a safe distance between them. “No, Miss… please conduct yourself with dignity.”
Wrapped in the quilt, Qin Xiyao walked barefoot to stand in front of Mu Baicheng. The distance between their noses was less than a finger’s width. The room was too small; Mu Baicheng had nowhere to retreat. She could only close her eyes and force herself not to look at the beautiful Omega.
“Will a hug make a piece of your flesh fall off?” Compared to last night, Qin Xiyao’s voice had a bit more warmth, as if she had been too weak then and had recovered slightly this morning.
“No,” Mu Baicheng said decisively. “Alphas and Omegas should keep a proper distance.”
“Aren’t we both women?”
Mu Baicheng was choked up. That wasn’t wrong, but it wasn’t a matter of gender! “But you’re an Omega, and I’m an Alpha.”
“I have everything you have, and you don’t have anything I don’t. Why avoid me?”
Mu Baicheng didn’t know how to explain, but this confirmed her suspicion: Qin Xiyao really was a traveler from another place.
She helped tug at the slipping quilt to make sure Qin Xiyao was wrapped tightly. The Alpha was a head taller than the Omega. Standing so close, Mu Baicheng spoke seriously, looking like a preschool teacher educating a child. “Things are different here. We have ABO…”
“I know. Can you mark me?”
That sentence left Mu Baicheng completely speechless. Could she? Apparently not. “I…”
“Then what are you hiding for? You held me very tightly last night. Or rather…” Qin Xiyao arched an eyebrow, her cool gaze scanning Mu Baicheng’s slender frame from top to bottom. “Is it that not only is your gland useless, but you’re useless in other places too?”
Mu Baicheng… Good heavens, are Omegas today this direct? What am I supposed to say? Her throat bobbed. Even though Qin Xiyao’s eyes were calm, Mu Baicheng could see a genuine attitude of inquiry in that gaze.
Steeling herself, Mu Baicheng grabbed Qin Xiyao by the waist, tossed her onto the bed, and rummaged through her suitcase for a set of clothes. “Wear this for now. I’ll go buy you underwear. You have to pay me back once you have money!”
Mu Baicheng didn’t turn around, terrified that this “celestial being” would say something else shocking. Watching her flustered retreat, Qin Xiyao didn’t let her off the hook.
“Do you even know my size?” Her tone was flat, but the end of the sentence carried a hint of teasing. Mu Baicheng, however, failed to catch it; her hand froze on the doorknob.
She stood there, carefully considering the question. Qin Xiyao had a great figure—definitely larger than her own B-cup. But whether it was a C-cup or larger, she honestly didn’t know.
“This…”
“I’ll go with you.” The rustling of changing clothes sounded. Soon, the Omega emerged in a large T-shirt. Her icy fingers covered Mu Baicheng’s hand on the doorknob, pushed it down, and she walked straight out.
Mu Baicheng stared blankly at her back. Was this Omega… a bit too cool? As an Alpha, she had to admit she was being charmed by an Omega’s swagger.
“Aren’t you coming? I don’t have the currency of this world.” Qin Xiyao stopped and looked back. If she weren’t wearing modern clothes, Mu Baicheng would have felt she was so ethereal she might fly away at any moment.
“Coming!” Mu Baicheng snapped out of it, feeling the “pain” in her wallet. She’d have to scrimp even more this month. She hoped this Miss Omega would strike it rich soon so she could get her money back.
The morning life in the old residential district started early. The elderly were already out exercising. A sharp-eyed neighbor recognized Mu Baicheng.
“Morning, Little Mu! Is this your girlfriend? She’s truly beautiful.”
“No—” Before she could explain, a group of old ladies swarmed her, chatting about what to watch out for during a relationship, when they were getting married, when they planned to have kids, and even when they’d have a second child.
Good grief, these grandmothers were fast-forwarding her life rhythm by a decade. It took a massive effort for Mu Baicheng to rescue herself and Qin Xiyao from the siege.
She pulled Qin Xiyao to the only lingerie shop in the district. Coincidentally, it was run by her landlady, Mrs. Luo.
“Little Mu, the new quarter is coming up. Don’t forget to transfer the rent. I gave you a big discount last quarter. I’ve heard that a place like yours goes for at least 3,500 a month now.”
Mu Baicheng nearly coughed up blood. This Mrs. Luo was a real bloodsucker. Charging that much for such a dump?
She knew in her heart that this was already the limit of what she could afford. In Hu City, every inch of land was worth its weight in gold; she couldn’t afford to rent anywhere else.
Qin Xiyao glanced at Mrs. Luo, picked out two sets of underwear, and said to Mu Baicheng, “I want these two.”
“Fine.” Qin Xiyao’s words effectively rescued Mu Baicheng from Mrs. Luo. She paid using the last 300 yuan in her digital wallet.
After paying, she was truly penniless. Looking at her near-zero balance, Mu Baicheng sat outside the fitting room and let out a heavy sigh. She really didn’t understand why Omega underwear was so much more expensive than Alpha underwear.
“Hard to support an Omega, isn’t it?” A cup of water was held out to her.
Mu Baicheng looked up to see Mrs. Luo’s smiling face. In her memory, Mrs. Luo had never looked at her with such kindness.
Mrs. Luo sat beside her, her tone unprecedentedly gentle. “Little Mu, it’s not easy for you, struggling alone in the big city. You know, it’s very hard to marry an Omega these days.”
“What exactly are you trying to say?” Mu Baicheng asked, frowning. The tone made her uncomfortable; she sensed an ulterior motive behind the kind smile.
Mrs. Luo affectionately took Mu Baicheng’s hand. “Was that your younger sister just now? So beautiful. You know, my son is only a few years older than you…”
“Mrs. Luo.” Mu Baicheng interrupted coldly. So this was the play. Everyone knew Mrs. Luo’s son was a deadbeat who spent all day drinking and gambling. He had the face of a bear but spent his time daydreaming about beautiful Omegas.
“Stop dreaming.” Qin Xiyao pulled back the fitting room curtain. She had tucked the hem of the oversized T-shirt into her waist, revealing a sliver of fair, slender skin. She pulled Mu Baicheng up from the stool and linked her arm through the Alpha’s. “She is my Alpha.”
Mrs. Luo gave Mu Baicheng a look of disdain. “Her? Little girl, you should look closer. Little Mu is a decent kid, but she’s a pauper. And besides, her gland is defective.”
“She’s good-looking.” That single sentence left Mrs. Luo speechless.
Mu Baicheng’s beauty was acknowledged by the entire neighborhood. Previously, Old Man Wang’s granddaughter had pursued her like crazy. Unfortunately, the Wang family wouldn’t allow their granddaughter to obsess over a “crippled” Alpha and forced her to marry someone else.
Mu Baicheng had a classic “cool beauty” face with strong features. She usually dressed cleanly; if one didn’t know her age, they’d think she was a fresh college graduate. That aura of purity didn’t seem like it belonged to a thirty-year-old.
Ignoring the speechless Mrs. Luo, Qin Xiyao led Mu Baicheng out. At the door, she stopped and said, “Brows often furrowed, many lines on the glabella [1]. You should keep a tighter leash on your husband.”
Once outside, Mu Baicheng asked in confusion, “What did that mean?”
Qin Xiyao glanced at her indifferently. “How much of that Complete Guide to Physiognomy in your room have you actually read?”
Mu Baicheng scratched her head sheepishly. She had followed her master to learn Taoist arts since childhood, but she was only half-baked. She managed to learn the Liu Yao [2], but as for face reading… her master kicked the bucket before he could teach her.
“You can read faces?” After a moment, Mu Baicheng caught the point. Was this Omega in the same trade as her in her previous world?
Qin Xiyao didn’t answer. She looked up at the sky, calculating the solar terms in her head. Wealth comes from the East. “Where do you usually make money?”
“East Lake Park.”
“Where is that?”
Mu Baicheng wasn’t sure if Qin Xiyao could read a phone map, but she didn’t know how else to explain the location. After some thought, she showed her the phone.
To her surprise, Qin Xiyao understood the map perfectly. After confirming the park’s location matched her calculations, she handed the phone back. “Let’s go. Time to set up the stall and tell fortunes.”
Mu Baicheng was overjoyed. Had Qin Xiyao seen something in her face? She pointed to her own cheek. “Did you see it in my face? Am I going to strike it rich today?”
Qin Xiyao narrowed her eyes at the excited Mu Baicheng. There are ten million faces, and Qin Xiyao could see through them all. But in this world, there were only two she could not fathom: one was herself, and the other was her Taoist partner… the person standing right in front of her.
