My Omega Is A Top Heavenly Master (GL) - Chapter 3
East Lake Park wasn’t very crowded on a workday, and Mu Baicheng’s fortune-telling stall reflected that. However, she was quite popular with Omegas. She had lost count of how many Omegas had already sat down across from her.
The current girl looked only in her teens, with watery eyes staring straight at Mu Baicheng. Placing her small hand on the table, she said coquettishly, “Sister, look at my palm. I don’t know why, but I haven’t been sleeping well lately.”
Mu Baicheng rolled her eyes internally but maintained a kind smile. “Little sister, this is a fortune-telling stall. If you can’t sleep, you should see a doctor.” You’ve been freeloading for so long, isn’t that enough? You just want to chat, but you haven’t paid a cent.
The girl pouted, looking aggrieved. “But Sister, those doctors can’t cure me. I’d feel better if I just had your GreenChat (WeChat) number.”
Before Mu Baicheng could respond, Qin Xiyao stepped forward and took Mu Baicheng’s hand. “I’m hungry.”
Qin Xiyao gave the girl a cold sweep of her gaze. The girl was startled by the intensity of that look and managed only a strained smile. Of course, all the handsome Alphas already have Omegas. So annoying. Despite her reluctance, the girl gave up and left.
Once she was gone, Mu Baicheng let out a sigh of relief. Before she could say thank you, Qin Xiyao released her hand and sat on a nearby stone step.
She rested her head on her hand, her eyes staring blankly into the distance. Mu Baicheng didn’t ask what she was thinking; this Omega was far too mysterious. As for earlier—it was obvious Qin Xiyao was helping her out of an awkward spot.
Mu Baicheng didn’t think there was anything special about herself that would make someone like Qin Xiyao follow her. Based on looks alone, if Qin Xiyao were willing, countless Alphas would be tripping over themselves to serve her.
Checking the balance on her phone, she saw she had only made a hundred yuan all morning. Thinking about Mrs. Luo’s rent hike, Mu Baicheng felt a wave of uncertainty…
“Hello, I’d like to ask about my marriage prospects.”
Predictably, it was another Omega. Most people who came to Mu Baicheng’s stall were Omegas drawn to her face. For a small fee, they could chat with a beautiful Alpha, and word had spread among them. However, this didn’t bring in much money—it was barely enough to survive.
Qin Xiyao watched Mu Baicheng’s back, her thoughts drifting to her past life. Becoming a Saint was the goal of every cultivator, and Qin Xiyao had been just one step away.
The Heavenly Tribulation for Saint-tier ascension was the most terrifying. Qin Xiyao thought she would perish under the 90,000 bolts of Purple-Gold Lightning. Instead, she had appeared in this strange world, her 100,000 years of cultivation vanished. If not for her powerful divine sense, she wouldn’t even have understood what kind of world she was in.
Most importantly… a silver light flashed in her black eyes as she looked at Mu Baicheng.
The first person she saw upon opening her eyes was this person who had been missing for a thousand years. Qin Xiyao would never forget the scene a thousand years ago when she and Mu Baicheng made their vows under the Great Jianmu Tree [1] to become Taoist partners. Nor could she forget that Mu Baicheng never showed up at the ceremony.
Qin Xiyao had lost all face in front of the Quasi-Saints and Great Immortals. She didn’t care about the humiliation; she cared about Mu Baicheng’s disappearance. The woman had vanished as if she had never existed. There wasn’t a trace of her in all Nineteen Provinces of the Universe.
Their mountain-moving vows became a joke. Qin Xiyao remembered the first time she met her; back then, Qin Xiyao was only a Great Immortal, while Mu Baicheng was already a half-step Saint.
Qin Xiyao didn’t know her origins, but she loved chasing her back. Mu Baicheng was her sun and moon. Over a thousand years, that “sun and moon” had descended to the mortal realm, taken her hand, and promised eternity. The more beautiful the vow, the more cruel the abandonment. Mu Baicheng had left without a single word.
What puzzled Qin Xiyao was that, given Mu Baicheng’s level of cultivation, even if she had reincarnated, she shouldn’t have lost her memories, let alone be in this weak state. In this world, a “defective” Alpha’s physical stats were no different from a regular Beta’s.
Why? Qin Xiyao’s heart sank. She didn’t want to make excuses for her. With Mu Baicheng’s power, if something had happened, she was definitely capable of sending a message. Did she still love her? Qin Xiyao didn’t know.
She felt conflicted about how to face the current Mu Baicheng. This person was too different from the one in her memories. If not for the soul-bond resonance between Taoist partners, she wouldn’t believe this was her. Strangely, though her cultivation was scattered, every time she got close to Mu Baicheng, a bit of her power returned.
Since that was the case, staying by her side was the best choice. After all, didn’t Mu Baicheng owe her everything?
After sending off another Omega who was more interested in her GreenChat than a fortune, Mu Baicheng glanced doubtfully at Qin Xiyao. Do I really have luck with wealth today? She wished she had studied harder.
She blamed her own lack of talent; she had only managed to learn the basics of Liu Yao. Her master had passed away too early for her to learn more. From her initial excitement to her current disappointment, she felt she was just going crazy thinking about money.
Otherwise, why would she believe the words of a mysterious Omega? It was noon now, and the sun was becoming vicious. Mu Baicheng’s back was soaked.
Another Omega approached during her lunch break. Before the girl could get close, Qin Xiyao sat directly on Mu Baicheng’s lap and leaned into her chest. Her icy body temperature dispelled Mu Baicheng’s heat.
Qin Xiyao gave the intruder an indifferent look, then closed her eyes to nap in Mu Baicheng’s arms. The Omega left awkwardly.
Mu Baicheng was flustered, her hands hovering awkwardly. “Um… you don’t have to…”
“Aren’t you hot?”
Qin Xiyao’s voice was as cool as her body. She practiced the “Way of the Heart Query,” peeking into destiny, which left her without a normal person’s body heat. This was also why her Saint-tier tribulation was more terrifying than others.
Mu Baicheng sighed. Qin Xiyao’s temperature did help. She had run hot since childhood; her master said it was because she had a “Pure Yang Body.” But she knew that once she presented with a defective gland, her master had stopped putting effort into teaching her.
She had no parents and didn’t know where she came from. Her master had been lukewarm toward her. To this world, Mu Baicheng was an optional existence.
“Thank you,” Mu Baicheng whispered, a hint of vulnerability in her voice.
This was an emotion the “Old Mu Baicheng” would never have shown. In Qin Xiyao’s eyes, the former Mu Baicheng was aloof, compassionate, and far removed from the secular world. The current one was money-hungry, weak, and utterly ordinary.
Qin Xiyao wrapped her arms around Mu Baicheng’s waist. A silver light flashed in her eyes again. Gods and demons of the Nineteen Provinces… few were your match. To think you would feel ‘wronged’ now. Then who was I supposed to tell my grievances to?
By 4:00 PM, the park began to fill up. Mu Baicheng’s stall became busier than ever. Usually, only Omegas and Betas visited, but today, several Alphas appeared.
Mu Baicheng knew they were all there for Qin Xiyao.
Qin Xiyao kept her eyes closed; none of these people were the “wealth” she was waiting for. As the sun dipped toward the ridge of Dragon Mountain, several figures in suits appeared. Qin Xiyao snapped her eyes open. Her “wealth” had arrived.
The man in the lead had a high, broad forehead and a prominent “Fuxi bone” [2]—the mark of an emperor. He was surrounded by a purple aura, signifying immense wealth and status. However, a wisp of black, baleful energy was shooting straight up from his forehead. He was in deep trouble.
Qin Xiyao looked at the woman beside him. She had high cheekbones, a tall nose, and narrow, long eyes. She was born for riches—the kind of face only those born with a silver spoon possess.
The man looked about forty, the woman in her early twenties.
The two seemed to be arguing. The woman shook off the man’s hand and sat down at the stall. Seeing a customer, Mu Baicheng prepared to read her birth charts (Bazi).
Qin Xiyao pulled Mu Baicheng aside and sat across from the woman herself. She handed her a brush and ink. “Write a word.”
Her calm voice and ethereal aura made the woman, who had only sat down out of spite, freeze for a moment. But it was only for a moment before she laughed self-deprecatingly. “Sorry…”
“Don’t you want to ask if there’s still a chance with that person?” Qin Xiyao said. She knew the woman’s question was already written on her face.
The woman was born wealthy and had great luck with romance, but unfortunately, it was always the “rotten” kind (bad relationships).
At these words, both the woman and the man who had caught up to her were stunned. The man looked at the young Omega suspiciously. He stopped trying to pull his daughter away, wanting to see what this Omega had to say.
The woman took the brush and wrote the character “酥” (Su). Her handwriting was elegant, clearly the mark of a well-educated lady.
“Have a look,” the woman said, lifting her chin proudly.
“Red su (tender) hands, yellow vine wine, spring scenery fills the city, willows by the palace walls [3]. Miss Liu, you have beautiful handwriting.”
“How do you know my surname is Liu?” The woman was shocked. Her father was a tycoon in Hu City, but he had protected her well; the public knew nothing about her. She looked at her father.
Was she recognized because of him? No, her father rarely appeared in public either. Few in the city would recognize him, let alone a street fortune-teller. Their social circles were worlds apart. If she hadn’t been throwing a tantrum today, she never would have crossed paths with someone like this.
“Liu Suhong. A beautiful name. But Miss Liu, you already know the outcome between you and that person, don’t you?” Qin Xiyao didn’t answer the question directly. The moment the word was written, she had seen through the woman’s plight.
“What do you mean?” Liu Suhong’s face darkened. She had gone to other fortune-tellers with him before, and they all said they were a match made in heaven.
Qin Xiyao took the brush and wrote a line below the character: “The east wind is cruel, the joy of love is thin. Mistake, mistake, mistake.” [4]
Qin Xiyao’s calligraphy was sharp as a blade. Each stroke seemed to possess magic. Those three “mistakes” hit Liu Suhong so hard she began to cry.
“I should have accepted it long ago. Thank you.”
Liu Suhong intended to give cash, but after staring at Qin Xiyao’s face, she changed her mind. “Can I add your GreenChat? I’m an Omega too; I won’t harass you.”
Qin Xiyao tilted her head and beckoned Mu Baicheng over. As she approached, Qin Xiyao said to Liu Suhong:
“I don’t have GreenChat. Take my Alpha’s contact info.”
Liu Suhong laughed. “Your Alpha? Don’t worry, I like men. I just want to be your friend.”
She placed a thick stack of bills on the table—at least 20,000 yuan—and turned to leave. Mu Baicheng’s eyes glowed at the sight of the cash.
“We will meet again,” Qin Xiyao called out, making Liu Suhong stop.
Liu Suhong turned and caught a faint silver glint in Qin Xiyao’s eyes. Qin Xiyao said calmly, “Your destined partner is a woman.”
After Liu Suhong left, Qin Xiyao followed Mu Baicheng home. Since the car was totaled, they took the bus. Fearing perverts, Mu Baicheng shielded Qin Xiyao in her arms the whole way.
As they reached the old apartment complex, a hysterical argument was breaking out at the entrance. A crowd had gathered.
Before Mu Baicheng could figure out what was going on, Auntie Sun grabbed her. “Wait! Your landlady’s husband was caught cheating. If you go in now, she might take her anger out on you.”
Mu Baicheng was stunned. She remembered Qin Xiyao telling Mrs. Luo to watch her husband that very morning.
Mrs. Luo’s bloodshot eyes spotted Qin Xiyao in the crowd. She lunged at her like a wild animal. “It’s all because of you! If you hadn’t talked nonsense, this never would have happened!”
Qin Xiyao watched the approaching woman in a daze. She had exhausted much of her power calculating for Liu Suhong. Mrs. Luo was currently shrouded in a visible baleful aura (Sha Qi). Damn, if I face this head-on, I’ll be the one at a disadvantage.
The baleful aura behind Mrs. Luo opened a giant, bloody maw, its crimson eyes looking as if it had found the perfect prey. Attached to Mrs. Luo, it lunged toward Qin Xiyao.
