My Omega Is A Top Heavenly Master (GL) - Chapter 4
It was impossible to tell how much resentment had condensed to form the baleful aura (Sha Qi) surrounding Mrs. Luo. At this moment, Qin Xiyao found it difficult to resist. Before she could move her feet, she was pulled into a protective embrace.
Mrs. Luo’s sharp manicured nails ripped through Mu Baicheng’s thin T-shirt, and blood stained the landlady’s fingertips. For a split second, Qin Xiyao heard a faint sizzling sound; the baleful aura vanished instantly, as if it had encountered its natural predator.
“She’s hurting people!” someone in the crowd shouted. The elderly neighbors quickly swarmed and surrounded Mrs. Luo.
“Honestly, Sister Luo, this is out of line. It’s your husband who’s being indecent; why take it out on the young girl?”
“Exactly! Little Mu is a good kid, yet you’re venting your rage on her Omega.”
Mrs. Luo was dazed for a moment, unable to clearly recall what had just happened. Hearing the accusations, she glared at her drunken husband lying on the ground and delivered a sharp slap across Chen Ji’s face.
“You bastard! It’s all your fault. You made me lose face in front of everyone. Get your ass home! If there’s a next time, I’ll break your legs!”
Mrs. Luo dragged her husband away. The elderly neighbors expressed their sympathy for Mu Baicheng, but everyone knew Mrs. Luo was notoriously difficult to deal with. There weren’t many wealthy people in the old district, and she happened to be one of them. Her husband was a well-known “soft rice eater” (dependent on his wife), but no one expected him to actually cheat.
“Little Mu, are you alright?”
Mu Baicheng sucked in a breath through her teeth. How could she be alright? Mrs. Luo had shredded the skin on her back. Being surrounded by so many people only made her feel more awkward.
Qin Xiyao eventually broke the tension. “I’ll take her back first.”
Hearing this, the neighbors felt relieved. Mu Baicheng wasn’t alone anymore; she had an Omega now.
Back home, Qin Xiyao told Mu Baicheng to lie face down on the bed. “Do you have any medicine?”
Mu Baicheng hissed in pain as her shirt was rolled up. The Omega’s fingers brushed against her spine, sending a shiver through her.
Mu Baicheng swallowed hard. “No.”
Qin Xiyao sighed. Being poor was one thing, but not even having basic medicine at home… “Sit up.”
“No, it hurts. I don’t want to move. I’ll just sleep it off.”
“Get up. I won’t say it a second time.”
The cold edge in the Omega’s voice made Mu Baicheng shudder. She obediently propped herself up and sat cross-legged on the bed.
“Take off your shirt.” Qin Xiyao sat across from her, the distance between them closing until she was almost in Mu Baicheng’s lap.
Mu Baicheng flinched and moved back, but the sudden movement pulled at the wounds on her back. “Sss—!”
Despite the cry of pain, she stubbornly tried to lean back further. “No, Alphas and Omegas—” It hurts like hell.
“If you don’t take it off, how am I supposed to apply the medicine?”
“But there isn’t any—” Before she could finish, Qin Xiyao grabbed the hem of her shirt. Mu Baicheng didn’t feel any great force, yet the T-shirt was ripped clean in half.
Good grief… Mu Baicheng finally learned the hard way that “cheap goods aren’t good.” A ten-yuan T-shirt really had zero durability.
Feeling the chill on her skin, Mu Baicheng instinctively covered her chest. As an Alpha, she wasn’t particularly large-chested; in her black sports bra, she didn’t think there was much for Qin Xiyao to look at.
“What are you hiding for? Don’t you have a sense of your own figure?” Qin Xiyao said coldly. She grabbed Mu Baicheng’s wrists and, with a slight pull, forced her hands away before sliding into her embrace.
The moment their bodies touched, Qin Xiyao felt a tiny, weak flicker of mana return. It was faint, but enough to heal Mu Baicheng’s current injuries.
Her icy fingertips touched the wounds. With her other hand, she formed a hand seal, using a healing spell to mend the skin. The process was somewhat painful; Mu Baicheng tightened her arms in response, pulling Qin Xiyao into a tight hug.
The fingers on the Alpha’s back paused. Previously, when she touched Mu Baicheng, the mana recovery was like a slow drip; now, it was like the faucet had been turned up. Does Mu Baicheng have to be the one to initiate contact for this effect?
But that hadn’t happened when she protected her downstairs. Realizing they had both been fully clothed then, Qin Xiyao formed a bolder hypothesis: Could it be that she needs Mu Baicheng to actively seek ‘dual cultivation’ with her? This was something she hadn’t even done with Mu Baicheng in their past life.
They had agreed to wait until after their Taoist ceremony. Recalling how much she recovered while sleeping in Mu Baicheng’s arms last night, she wondered… a silver light flashed in her black eyes.
“Does it hurt?” Qin Xiyao asked flatly. Internally, she was exasperated. How could a simple healing spell hurt that much?
Mu Baicheng gritted her teeth and nodded with her eyes closed. “It hurts so much. I’m most afraid of pain.” Usually, even a minor bump would hurt her for ages, let alone gashes.
“I see. I saw a very good pain-relief method in the TV dramas here.” Qin Xiyao pulled back slightly and looked at Mu Baicheng with an unreadable gaze.
Mu Baicheng opened her eyes, curious. “When did you watch TV—mmph!”
Before she could finish, Qin Xiyao blocked her lips. The Omega’s lips were icy, the Alpha’s were burning; ice and fire met.
Mana flowed through their lips into Qin Xiyao. She held Mu Baicheng’s head to prevent her from pulling away and sucked firmly. Her eyes flew open, the black pupils turning entirely silver-white.
Mu Baicheng’s eyelids grew heavy. So sleepy… This feeling of oxygen deprivation felt like being on a high-altitude peak. Within seconds, she lost consciousness completely.
Qin Xiyao expressionlessly pushed Mu Baicheng onto the bed. The kiss confirmed her theory: she needed intimate contact to recover mana. Last night’s sleeping arrangement had only restored less than two years of cultivation. But this simple press of lips had restored ten years of power.
But why did she faint? And she seemed unwilling… Qin Xiyao glanced at the sleeping woman, the silver fading from her eyes.
She removed the remaining clothes from both of them and lay down skin-to-skin. There was no use overthinking it; this person was the partner she had vowed eternity to. Anything that happened was within reason. Why care if she was willing? Reclaiming her power was the priority.
When she woke up the next morning, Mu Baicheng was in a daze. When did I fall asleep? She was alone on the bed. Sitting up and rubbing her eyes, she saw Qin Xiyao wearing a white T-shirt, sitting on the windowsill and flipping through a Feng Shui manual.
The morning breeze ruffled the Omega’s long hair. She was backlit by the rising sun, her legs resting on the sill. Mu Baicheng froze; she finally understood why ancient emperors never wanted to attend morning court. With a beauty like this, who would want to let go?
Yet Qin Xiyao remained expressionless, as if nothing in the world could catch her eye. As the sun rose higher, it gilded her in a golden glow. Mu Baicheng couldn’t help but think of the phrase “Sacred and Solemn”—Qin Xiyao was an immortal beyond desecration.
“You’re awake? I’m hungry.” Qin Xiyao closed the book. Now that she had mana, she needed very little sleep; she had been awake since before dawn.
Mu Baicheng gave a dazed “oh” and mechanically got dressed. “I… I’ll go buy breakfast. What do you want?”
Qin Xiyao tilted her head. The breakfast Mu Baicheng bought was very cheap; yesterday was just soy milk and fried dough sticks. Having practiced Bigu (fasting) for years, she disliked greasy food. “I want tea and dim sum.”
“Dim sum?” Mu Baicheng tidied her messy hair. This was Hu City; people didn’t have a morning tea culture here. Was Qin Xiyao a Southerner before she crossed over?
“Did you live in the South before?” Mu Baicheng paused. “I mean… where you come from.”
Qin Xiyao shook her head. “I lived in the Dao Realm, at the peak of the Jianmu Tree.”
“Huh? You lived in a tree?” Mu Baicheng asked stupidly.
Qin Xiyao’s expression shifted, her eyes rolling slightly. she tossed the Classic of Mountains and Seas from the table toward Mu Baicheng. “Your homework is abysmal. It’s hard to imagine you actually dare to cast hexagrams for people. Read it properly.”
Mu Baicheng caught the book and scratched her head sheepishly. She’d had a headache from books since she was a kid, but she was always energized by learning divination. “I’ll find time to look at it. Let’s go out to eat.”
Street stalls didn’t sell Southern-style morning tea. Since they made some money yesterday, as long as the meal stayed under fifty yuan, she could accept it—especially since Qin Xiyao had earned the money herself.
“Can we just eat a little bit?” Mu Baicheng’s heart still ached for her wallet.
Qin Xiyao knew she was money-grubbing, but since she had earned it, she just gave her a cool glance and didn’t reply.
Mu Baicheng pouted, knowing she was in the wrong, and scurried into the bathroom to wash up.
Just as they were ready to leave, the sound of a key turning came from the old wooden door. Mrs. Luo walked in, leading her “bear-like” son, Chen Yao.
The moment Chen Yao saw Qin Xiyao, his eyes lit up with predatory greed. He gave his mother a secret look, indicating he was extremely satisfied with this Omega.
“Mrs. Luo, how can you just barge in?” Mu Baicheng said angrily. The lease wasn’t up; even the landlady had no right to trespass.
Mrs. Luo smiled kindly, but the cunning in her eyes was impossible to hide. “Little Mu, I came to apologize for last night. I wanted to give you a surprise.”
“A surprise?” Mu Baicheng scoffed. This was more like a shock. And the way Chen Yao’s eyes were practically glued to Qin Xiyao—she knew exactly what Mrs. Luo was planning.
Mrs. Luo felt bitter, especially toward Qin Xiyao. In her mind, her husband had always been obedient, but after Qin Xiyao’s words yesterday, she had followed him and caught him cheating. To Mrs. Luo’s twisted logic, if Qin Xiyao hadn’t spoken up, the husband wouldn’t have “cheated” (or rather, she wouldn’t have known). Only someone as selfish as her could think like that.
She thought that if she could get Qin Xiyao into her family, she could torment her however she pleased. So she brought her son under the guise of an “apology.”
Qin Xiyao sat back on the windowsill, staring out the window as if the drama in the room had nothing to do with her.
“Little Mu, I’ll get straight to the point. I have an apartment in the city center. If you’re willing to give this sister of yours to my son as a wife, I’ll waive your rent for five years.”
It’s a very practical trade, Qin Xiyao thought. To the current Mu Baicheng, she was just a mysterious Omega who brought nothing but trouble. Rent in the city center was over ten thousand a month—five years of that was a fortune.
She’ll agree, won’t she? After all, this Mu Baicheng is so obsessed with money.
“Do you agree?” Qin Xiyao’s calm gaze fell upon Mu Baicheng.
Mu Baicheng laughed and turned her head away, avoiding Qin Xiyao’s eyes. A flash of disappointment crossed Qin Xiyao’s gaze. The same soul, in a different world… are you going to abandon me again?
