Returning to the Villain Omega's High School Days - Chapter 18
As soon as they arrived at the neighborhood, Su Jin couldn’t wait to open the car door and quickly walked upstairs.
Su Xingheng, who was carrying her backpack, was polite enough to wait at the entrance.
He only entered the courtyard with them after Xie Ning got out of the car.
Xie Ning had held Su Wan on her lap the whole way and didn’t complain at all.
When she got out of the car, she held Su Wan’s hand and said with a frown, “Wanwan, my leg is numb.”
Su Wan’s hand was very cold.
She tried to pull it back as soon as it touched Xie Ning’s.
But seeing that Xie Ning couldn’t even stand steadily, she took the initiative to help her, holding one of her arms with both hands.
“Wanwan,” Xie Ning said sweetly, hopping a little as she walked forward.
“You’re so nice.”
Su Wan’s face was expressionless.
She lowered her head as if she hadn’t heard what she said.
Uncle Ling parked the car in the back, took the stuffed toy out of the passenger seat, and followed behind them.
Xie Ning walked very slowly.
In theory, her leg should have been fine after a few steps, but she still held Su Wan’s hand.
With her other hand, she squeezed Su Wan’s thin arm and said with a sigh, “Wanwan, you’re so thin. You should eat more, okay?”
Su Wan wasn’t used to being so close to people.
She just gave a soft “mm” and didn’t respond further.
Xie Ning then said, “If you were my sister, I would feed you until you’re plump and chubby.”
Su Wan said, “It’s not good to be chubby.”
“It’s not good for others, but for you, it would be just right.” Xie Ning said, looking down at her chest.
Her gaze was blatant; she was shamelessly inspecting her cup size.
Su Wan looked down at herself.
She was indeed a bit underdeveloped and couldn’t even fill out her school uniform.
She pulled on her jacket, but the action only made it more obvious, making the area around her neckline look even flatter.
This wouldn’t have been a big deal, but she had just seen Xie Ning in the car.
When the car started, she had fallen against Xie Ning’s chest.
Xie Ning’s jacket was open, and underneath her shirt, there was a lot of real flesh.
It was definitely not just her bra.
She felt a little envious and sighed inwardly.
Her subtle actions and emotions were completely seen by Xie Ning.
Xie Ning thought she was adorable and continued to talk about the topic, leaning down and whispering in her ear, “For you, gaining ten or twenty pounds wouldn’t be a problem at all. The food at the Su family isn’t good. You should come to my place. My house has a lot of delicious food.”
Su Wan wondered what Xie Ning’s intention was.
Did Xie Ning really like Su Xingheng so much, just as others said?
To the point that she had to appease an insignificant person like herself?
She felt a little depressed, but that was the only explanation she could come up with.
Thinking deeper, Xie Ning might want to win her over to use her against Su Jin.
If that were the case, Xie Ning was a smart person for seeing that the relationship between Su Jin and Su Xingheng was not normal and taking precautions in advance.
Su Wan didn’t react.
She didn’t want to get involved in any kind of conflict unless she was fully prepared and sure of victory.
She would never be a pawn for someone else, but she could pretend to be naive when she wasn’t.
She was already sixteen and had a clear understanding of social dynamics.
Su Xingheng saw them whispering in the back and urged them, “Hurry up and get inside! Everyone’s waiting!”
Su Wan let go of Xie Ning’s arm and quickly followed Su Xingheng into the house.
Xie Ning arrived fashionably late behind them.
The Su family’s living room was lively.
Aunt Zhang opened the door for them, and once inside, they saw Xie Qingliu and other children sitting on the sofa eating snacks and watching TV.
Xie Ning’s father, Xie Minxian, and Su Xingheng’s father, Su Yuanfu, were sitting on the large balcony outside, smoking and chatting.
Su Xingheng’s uncle was also with them.
The women were playing mahjong in another room.
Xie Ning’s stepmother, Jiang Qin, was also there.
She was smoking.
When she saw Xie Ning, she just looked up and went back to picking her tile.
Fang Lingyu, on the other hand, was much more enthusiastic.
She called out, “Xie Ning, Wanwan, you’re here. Xingheng, go change your clothes and entertain your friends, please.”
Su Xingheng pretended not to hear her and rushed to the sofa to play with the others.
Xie Ning just nodded at them.
Among the table of women, only Fang Lingyu had an ethereal beauty that was not of this world, which was a stark contrast to Jiang Qin’s worldly air.
Fang Lingyu’s qipao dress made Xie Ning think of Su Wan when she was over thirty.
She thought of the kiss they shared when they parted in that rented room.
Their lips met like a sip of sweet nectar, yet it felt like a lifetime ago.
Xie Ning licked her lips, her heart itching for more.
Su Wan wasn’t fully developed yet.
Her skin was dark, and her features weren’t prominent.
As a result, everyone, including Fang Lingyu, didn’t realize that Su Wan was actually a future beauty.
She had inherited her mother’s bone structure, with skin as flawless as jade.
Her eyes would only become clearer and brighter with age, captivating people at first sight.
Even the innate elegance in their demeanor was from the same mold.
Compared to Fang Lingyu’s superficial beauty, Su Wan also had a scholarly air about her, making her look more calm and graceful.
Xie Ning had to admit that some women in this world become more and more charming as they mature.
It was a completely different kind of beauty than her own, a kind that was fleeting and enchanting.
She longed for Su Wan to grow up, like she was longing for a rose she planted herself to bloom.
She stood in the entryway for a few seconds.
Uncle Ling came in holding the stuffed toy.
A few people in the room went, “Wow,” and a girl stood up from the sofa and shouted, “Xie Ning, is that for me?”
“No,” Xie Ning said with a smile.
“Who told you to call me by my name?”
The girl’s name was Fang Manman.
She was seven years old, young but very bold.
She looked up with an innocent expression and asked, “What do you mean? I can’t call you Xie Ning?”
Xie Ning turned her head and said to Aunt Zhang, who was cleaning up, “Where’s Wanwan’s room? This is a gift from me to her.”
“You brought a gift, Xie Ning?” Fang Lingyu said from the next room, still feeling for tiles.
“That’s so nice, Xie Ning. Three of a kind—”
“Three of a kind, a pair! Joker. I’m ready to go out…”
Aunt Zhang led Uncle Ling to the room.
Fang Manman jumped off the sofa and followed the adults, unable to stop herself from reaching out to touch the toy.
Xie Ning swatted her hand and scolded, “You have your own. This is for Sister Su Wan.”
“I can’t even touch it?” Fang Manman said.
“Mine isn’t this big. I like this one!”
“If you like it, tell your mom to buy you one!” Xie Ning made a funny face.
“Mom! I want a doll as big as Sister Su Wan’s!” Fang Manman ran from one side of the living room to the other, bothering the people playing mahjong.
The person who was ready to go out couldn’t stand the noise and almost got angry.
Su Xingheng comforted her, “Manman, just ask Su Wan to lend it to you to play with. Don’t bother them while they’re playing cards!”
Hearing that, Fang Manman happily ran to Su Wan’s room.
But when she saw Su Wan, she didn’t dare to speak.
She just stood at the door, watching, and sucking on a yogurt pouch.
Xie Ning regretted giving Su Wan the big stuffed toy.
Her room was pitifully small.
It only had one bed and one closet.
The window was just a single pane, and the lighting was poor.
It was already dark in the room before the sun even set.
It turned out this was a storage room that had been temporarily converted into a bedroom.
After the big stuffed dog was placed on the bed, Su Wan had less than half the space to sleep in.
“Don’t you have a bigger room in this house?” Xie Ning asked, very displeased.
“You’re living in a room this small? It’s not even as big as the bathroom in my bedroom!”
She didn’t speak quietly.
The boys in the living room paused but didn’t say anything.
Aunt Zhang had a complicated expression.
She said in a low voice, “This room is convenient. It’s on the first floor, so she doesn’t have to run up and down. And she likes it.”
“Does she like it, or do you think she likes it?” Xie Ning said.
“I don’t believe that a two-story, 400-square-meter house can’t spare a spacious bedroom for her to live in.”
Aunt Zhang lowered her head and stayed silent.
Su Wan also didn’t say a word.
She found it very interesting to see Xie Ning standing up for her.
She was a little happy about this turn of events.
As long as she didn’t have to be the one to bring it up, anything was fine, right?
Xie Ning wanted to show off for her and use her to put down Su Jin.
So she could also use Xie Ning to gain a little bit of presence.
It seemed like a good deal.
Unless… Xie Ning genuinely wanted to help her and had no other motive.
Su Wan touched the big stuffed dog Xie Ning had given her.
She loved it and was willing to squeeze into this tiny room with it!
She still wanted to tell Xie Ning not to get involved and not to stir up trouble.
Xie Ning said, “I’m going to talk to Auntie!” and turned to leave.
She almost bumped into Fang Manman on her way out.
But the child didn’t mind.
She followed her out and climbed back onto the sofa, rolling into Su Xingheng’s arms.
“I’m so scared of her!” Fang Manman said in a low voice.
“Scared of who? Scared of Xie Ning?” Xie Qingliu was peeling an orange and interjected.
“Why would I be scared of Xie Ning?” Fang Manman pouted and pointed to Su Wan’s room.
“I’m scared of her…”
When Su Wan was mentioned, Fang Manman’s younger brother, Fang Songsong, also became evasive.
He whispered, “Is she the one who’s going to drive Sister Jin away?”
“No,” Su Xingheng said, rubbing Fang Manman’s head.
“With me here, I won’t let your Sister Jin leave this place.”
“Don’t let her succeed.” Fang Manman listened to Su Xingheng and said seriously.
Xie Qingliu was in deep thought.
He put down the cleanly peeled orange and got up to walk toward Xie Ning.
“Sister, are you going to show them that report?” Xie Qingliu asked in a low voice.
“What for?”
“You’re in your differentiation period,” Xie Qingliu said, pulling on Xie Ning’s sleeve and leading her to the bottom of the stairs, lowering his voice as much as possible.
“Look at Mom. She’s waiting for you to make a fool of yourself.”
In the mahjong room, Jiang Qin had a self-drawn winning hand.
She calmly spread her tiles on the table.
She looked confident and at ease.
Xie Ning said, “The Su family was punching above their weight by getting engaged to us. If I differentiate into something other than what they expected, the only one who loses here is the Su family. Su Xingheng will be the one I break up with, understand?”
Xie Qingliu was noncommittal.
Just as he was about to speak, he suddenly froze.
Xie Ning followed his gaze and saw that Su Jin had appeared on the stairs at some point.
She must have been on her way downstairs and had just stumbled upon the conversation between the Xie siblings.
