Returning to the Villain Omega's High School Days - Chapter 19
Su Jin wore a yellow sequined dress.
She had on makeup, and her hair was permed, but her bangs still covered her eyes as she looked coldly at Xie Ning.
Her eyes held a hint of triumph.
Seeing that things were getting bad, Xie Qingliu wanted to turn and sneak away.
But Xie Ning wasn’t scared at all.
Su Jin stared at her, and Xie Ning stared back, her arms crossed in front of her chest.
She watched her for a long time.
Su Jin stomped her foot and lifted her chin.
“Xie Ning, don’t get too smug!”
“Oh?” Xie Ning said.
“I’m richer than you and more beautiful than you. Why shouldn’t I be smug?”
Su Jin: “…!”
Xie Qingliu couldn’t stop laughing.
Su Jin’s face turned pale with anger.
She clattered down the stairs in her shoes and went straight to Fang Lingyu.
She leaned down, took her hand, and said softly, “Mom, I’ve changed my clothes.”
Fang Lingyu looked at her, satisfied and proud.
“This dress suits you. You look beautiful.”
Her aunt said, “Aah, what a beautiful girl. It’s so good that she’s staying in the Su family!”
“Of course she’s staying,” Fang Lingyu said with a smile.
“I’ve raised her for so many years. I can’t just let someone else have her for free.”
Everyone else smiled, but Jiang Qin squinted, lost in thought for a moment.
Praise made Su Jin’s joy evident on her face.
When she walked past Xie Ning, she rolled her eyes so hard they almost went to the back of her head.
Xie Ning said, “Moron.”
Xie Ning had said this to Su Jin as she walked past her.
She said it very quietly.
Besides Su Jin herself, no one else could have heard it.
Su Jin was sure she hadn’t misheard.
Xie Ning had become this brazen?!
She stood frozen in place, her face pale with anger.
When she looked back at Xie Ning, however, her face was full of smiles, showing no malice.
Laughter came from the mahjong room.
The women had finished their game and were happily settling their accounts.
If Su Jin had a tantrum right then, she would have ruined everyone’s fun.
She had to bear it.
On such a special occasion, she had to behave well.
She had to prove to her relatives that she was a qualified daughter raised by the Su family and that she would stay with the family in a dignified way.
Only then could she continue to be with her brother.
Xie Ning sneered.
Su Jin could only pretend not to see it.
She went and sat down next to Su Xingheng, waiting for dinner to start.
She had to be calm.
When she had heard what Xie Ning said just now about breaking off the engagement with her brother, her heart had already been in an uproar.
Why would she break off the engagement with her brother?
Hadn’t she been throwing herself at him and chasing him all this time?
The more Su Jin thought about it, the more confused she became.
Her intuition told her that Xie Ning must have some sort of dirty secret.
She must have felt guilty and come to her senses, realizing that she was not worthy of her brother, which was why she wanted to break off the engagement.
She hadn’t heard clearly just now.
What did “differentiated into something else” mean?
Su Jin stared at Xie Ning, wanting to find some kind of flaw in her.
The Su family’s dinner wasn’t a grand affair.
Besides the Xie family guests, everyone else was family.
Xie Ning had come directly after school.
She had no makeup and was not dressed up, wearing a dark blue school uniform and a short skirt.
Her long hair was loose over her shoulders.
Besides a string of coral beads her mother had left her on her wrist, she wasn’t wearing any other valuable jewelry.
Compared to the other women in the room or the meticulously dressed Su Jin, her outfit was far too simple.
But even so, the place where Xie Ning stood was still the center of attention.
The aristocratic air of a young lady wasn’t something that any jewelry or diamonds could bring out.
That feeling of aloofness and dignity in her every move made even Su Jin contemplate.
She was talking to Fang Lingyu, asking directly, “Auntie, why didn’t you give Sister Su Wan a bigger room?”
Fang Lingyu’s expression changed slightly.
She said softly, “Did Su Wan say something?”
“Of course she wouldn’t say anything,” Xie Ning said with a smile.
“I just went to look, and the housekeeper’s room is bigger than hers.”
Jiang Qin and the others heard her too.
The Su family’s aunt said, “That room must just be a temporary arrangement. She’ll definitely change rooms, right, Sister Ling?”
Fang Lingyu frowned and didn’t say anything.
Jiang Qin, however, said, “Xie Ning, what are you getting involved in?”
Xie Ning said righteously, “I like Sister Su Wan. I’m afraid she’ll be wronged.”
Everyone laughed.
Their laughter was kind, and they didn’t take it seriously.
It was a good thing for girls to like each other.
And Xie Ning was also going to differentiate into an Omega, so she and Su Wan would be sisters-in-law.
“That room is indeed not good,” Fang Lingyu said.
“There are other guest rooms upstairs, but Su Wan didn’t want to live upstairs.”
Xie Ning said, “Did Su Wan say that herself?”
“Of course she said it herself,” Su Jin interjected.
Noticing the strange looks from everyone, she softened her tone and said, “Mom asked her.”
Fang Lingyu pursed her lips and patiently explained to everyone, “It’s not that I’m being unfair. There are many people upstairs, and only she and Aunt Zhang are on the first floor. It’s more comfortable to live downstairs.”
Xie Ning said, “Aren’t there other rooms on the first floor?”
“One is the elders’ room, and another is Jin’er’s piano room,” Fang Lingyu said with a smile.
“Jin’er even performed at school on New Year’s Day. The piano is her lifeblood, so we can only make a little sacrifice for Wanwan for now. It will be better when we move next year.”
Xie Ning smiled.
“Auntie, Wanwan is your biological daughter, right?”
Fang Lingyu’s expression froze for a moment.
Others smoothed things over, “Let’s eat first.”
Jiang Qin pulled Xie Ning and said sternly, “What are you saying? Do you think Auntie Fang didn’t think things through as well as you?”
Xie Ning didn’t say anything.
Fang Lingyu smiled.
“It’s okay. Xie Ning is not wrong. I’ll discuss it with my husband later.”
Xie Ning raised her eyebrows and smiled.
She turned her head, her gaze falling on Su Jin, and then followed Jiang Qin to the dinner table.
Behind the Su family’s living room, there was a round dining room that could seat twenty people.
They often held family dinners here.
It was an occasion for Su’s father to bond with his family and other business contacts.
Su’s father asked Xie’s father to take a seat and told everyone else to sit down.
Su Wan hadn’t come late, but she didn’t know where to sit.
Logically, today’s dinner was mainly to introduce her to the relatives, so she was the protagonist of the dinner.
Xie Ning had already picked a seat and was saving one, not letting anyone sit there.
When she saw Su Wan standing there, at a loss, she waved at her.
Su Wan had also changed her clothes, but the flax-colored skirt didn’t seem to fit her.
But she had tried her best to adjust it.
She used a braided rope for a belt, and her socks still looked mismatched.
After all, no one wears a pair of thick socks with a skirt.
Although her outfit was a bit country, it wasn’t too disappointing.
Seeing Xie Ning wave at her, she had no choice but to go over.
As soon as she sat down, she heard Xie Ning say, “Wanwan, you look so beautiful today.”
Su Wan sat up straight, and the corner of her lips rose slightly.
Xie Ning’s praise was so fake, but after hearing it, she still felt a little happy.
Su Jin and Su Xingheng were sitting on the opposite side.
Su Jin stared at Xie Ning for a while.
She then looked at Su Xingheng and saw that he was also looking at Xie Ning.
She was immediately unhappy and asked him, “Brother, do you still like her?”
“She’s very beautiful and knows when to advance and when to retreat,” Su Xingheng said.
“Besides her temper, there’s nothing wrong with her.”
“Don’t let her fool you,” Su Jin said softly.
“The prettier a woman is, the more she lies. Who knows what bad intentions Xie Ning has? She might set you up!”
Su Xingheng said, “You think I’ll get set up?”
Su Jin paused.
She couldn’t help but want to expose what she had heard Xie Ning say on the stairs.
Su Xingheng smiled.
“I’ve never failed at anything in my life. You don’t have to worry about me.”
Su Jin muttered, “What about matters of the heart? Doesn’t that count as failing? You’re so easily fooled by others, especially those who chase you…”
“The way you’re talking,” Su Xingheng said with a laugh.
“You don’t really think I like her, do you?”
Su Jin pouted.
Su Xingheng leaned over and whispered in her ear, “Everything is for the benefit of the Su family. Nothing more.”
Su Jin’s expression relaxed a little.
She then said, “But what if…”
“Shh—” Su Xingheng put a finger on Su Jin’s lips.
“My dear sister, you need to understand that Xie Ning isn’t your enemy. The one who’s a threat to your position is the other one…”
Su Xingheng pointed his eyes in Su Wan’s direction.
Su Jin understood.
Her gaze darkened, and her hands clenched into fists.
