Rolling Around in the Villain's Arms (GL) - Chapter 1
“Surgery failed…”
“The patient has no vital signs. Prepare for electroshock!”
“Death confirmed. Notify the family…”
Bai Tang’s consciousness was hazy. She groggily opened her eyes, seeing several towering, cloud-reaching trees. The sky was an almost unreal blue.
Wasn’t I dead?
She had died on the operating table at eighteen.
Before she could sort out her thoughts, a “heaven-sent” downpour of blood drenched her body. The sweet, metallic smell rushed into her nostrils. Subconsciously, Bai Tang raised her hand, but what she saw was a small, pink paw pad.
Bai Tang: ??
How did my hand turn into a paw?
And what is all this blood on me?
Bai Tang heard a cry of sorrow and instinctively turned her head. She saw a massive spirit beast, covered in blood and wounds, looking at her with an extremely sorrowful, reluctant, and resentful gaze.
Her heart leaped with alarm. Before she could take a step to run, the giant beast in front of her collapsed and lost its breath.
Bai Tang couldn’t figure out what was happening.
She looked around and found several cubs next to the giant beast. They were all lifeless; they must have been its children.
A strange surge of grief inexplicably rose within Bai Tang.
How odd. Why do I feel this way?
“There’s one still alive here!”
Bai Tang looked up and saw a caravan. The carriages of the caravan were marked with the character “Xiao.”
Her small mind hadn’t processed the situation before she was scooped up in a pair of hands.
She opened her wide eyes and saw a woman in a fitted, dark outfit with a serious expression, who looked like the leader of the group.
She tried to speak: “Woof-ya…”
Bai Tang: !!
That whimper… was that me?
A smile appeared in the woman’s eyes. She seemed charmed: “I’ll wash the blood off you right now.”
Covered in sticky blood, Bai Tang was uncomfortable, so she nodded her small head.
The woman was charmed again: “Xiao Qi, come here, use magic to wash her.”
Magic? Bai Tang hadn’t yet processed the word before an icy blast of water rained down over her entire body.
The blood-matted fur was instantly cleaned. Her fluffy ears perked up, and her clear, sapphire-blue eyes gazed blankly at the world.
Bai Tang instinctively shook her body, instantly flicking off all the water droplets.
The woman was sprayed in the face, but she didn’t seem to mind. Her lips curled up, clearly melted by Bai Tang’s cuteness: “She even has a little horn on her head.”
Bai Tang subconsciously touched her head, and indeed, she felt something slightly pointed.
Xiao Qi: “Captain Lü, we investigated the area. A spirit beast this strong must have been the overlord of this forest. She was pregnant and attacked. She did this to protect the child in her belly…”
Bai Tang now understood.
She must be the child of this giant beast, which is why it looked at her with such a strange expression.
Captain Lü’s smile faded: “It’s a pity only this one survived.”
Xiao Qi: “Should we take it back?”
Captain Lü: “Of course. Put it in the cage.”
Bai Tang was tossed into a cage by the one called Xiao Qi. She hurt from the fall and her eyes reddened with grievance.
Captain Lü: “We shouldn’t linger here. We need to leave quickly. Moreover, this little Horned Beast is priceless. If any of you dare to have wicked thoughts, I will slit your throat on the spot.”
Bai Tang shivered. So this older sister is actually terrifying.
She sat in the cage, looking at her small paws. She was now absolutely certain that she had been reborn, but was rebirth this fast? There was no transition; she just turned into a little cub.
In her past life, she was frail and sickly. She lived for eighteen years, spending at least ten of them in the hospital. What she longed for most was a normal life.
This wasn’t exactly a normal human life, but she had a healthy body and could jump around. That was already great.
But now she was in a cage. How was that any different from losing her freedom?
“What quality of spirit beast do you think this is?”
“I don’t know, but the Captain is so nervous, it must be extremely rare.”
“We can sell it for a good price.”
Bai Tang was terrified listening to the guards’ conversation.
She let out a whimper.
Xiao Qi came over to check on her.
Bai Tang bared her little fangs, looking alertly at this fierce-looking woman—she’s the one who threw me in the cage.
Xiao Qi stared at her, then, seeing her adorable little fangs, extended her index finger toward Bai Tang’s mouth.
Bai Tang smiled and bit down hard.
Why is it so hard? I can’t bite through it at all.
Xiao Qi burst into cheerful laughter, seeing the sheer disbelief written in Bai Tang’s sapphire-blue eyes. She’s too cute.
Bai Tang gritted her teeth, feeling as if she was being mocked for her stupidity.
Xiao Qi: “She’s too adorable.”
The guards nearby also showed infatuated expressions.
Bai Tang paused.
I guess I am quite cute.
Realizing this, Bai Tang let out a soft, sweet whimper, her washed-blue eyes wide, looking at Xiao Qi with a pitiful expression.
Xiao Qi’s heart melted: “What’s wrong, baby?”
She even called me ‘baby.’ It seems I was successful.
For the sake of freedom, she had no choice but to use her charm.
Bai Tang nudged the cage with her small paw, her big, wet eyes looking at her sorrowfully.
Xiao Qi understood and opened the cage.
Finally, I’m free! Bai Tang’s eyes lit up.
Before she could be happy for more than a few seconds, Xiao Qi picked her up and held her in her arms.
Xiao Qi smiled and said, “I get it, little cub. You don’t want to stay in the cage, right? Sister will hold you.”
Bai Tang struggled, to no avail.
The cage was better.
After three days of travel, Bai Tang finally saw a town.
It was very prosperous, with many vendors on the streets.
Her eyes lit up when she saw the food.
For the past few days, she had been fed raw meat, and she had forced herself to eat only a little bit each time. She was practically starving.
Seeing the cub in her arms wiggling, Xiao Qi said, “Too many people, aren’t there? Big sister is here, don’t be afraid.”
Bai Tang was resigned to her fate. This “big sister” was wearing something like light armor, which was thin, but being held in her arms was genuinely uncomfortable.
Captain Lü: “This spirit beast was an accidental discovery. After I report to the Patriarch, we will decide what to do with her.”
Xiao Qi asked: “Are we going to sell her?”
Bai Tang pricked up her ears, her big eyes watching them.
Captain Lü: “We’ll know after the report.”
Xiao Qi hugged her tighter. She had developed feelings for the cub over the last few days: “If you sell her, I’ll buy her.”
Captain Lü said coldly: “You can’t afford her, nor are you qualified to raise her. Neither you nor I are qualified.”
Bai Tang chewed on her paw. She understood every word, yet she didn’t understand the meaning of what they were saying. The feeling of having her fate controlled by others was truly awful.
The caravan grandly entered the city and stopped in front of a luxurious mansion.
While Bai Tang was still curiously looking left and right, Captain Lü took her away.
They passed through the central courtyard and went straight to the study without obstruction.
Bai Tang saw a middle-aged man. His expression was serious, and his eyes lacked any light, as if he had lost something.
Captain Lü knelt on one knee: “Patriarch, this little Horned Beast was an accidental discovery in the forest. Its rank is not low.”
Xiao Jue: “Bring it over so I can see.”
Captain Lü walked towards him, holding Bai Tang.
Bai Tang eyed the man warily. She felt a very dangerous aura about him. She thrashed and pawed, trying to scare him off.
Xiao Jue examined her. His gaze gradually deepened.
The fur on her back was a light blue, while her belly was snow white. Even while baring her teeth, she looked soft and cuddly. Her most recognizable features were her sapphire-blue eyes and the tiny horn, which demonstrated her extraordinary bloodline.
Xiao Jue said sternly: “How was she found? Tell me the circumstances from beginning to end.”
Captain Lü reported everything.
Xiao Jue: “Your luck is very good. A spirit beast like this is a rare find. She is not just an ordinary growth-type spirit beast; her potential is extremely high. Since she is still a cub, keeping her close will allow for a strong bond to be nurtured.”
Captain Lü looked down at the little adorable cub in her hands. It didn’t look like a spirit beast with high combat power at all.
“So, what should we do with her?”
“Doesn’t she still not have a spirit pet? This is perfect for her.”
Captain Lü understood: “Understood, my lord.”
Bai Tang was full of question marks. Who is ‘she’? But listening to their conversation, she seemed to be quite powerful. Once she became powerful, she would leave eventually.
Bai Tang was making her little plans, and when she snapped out of her thoughts, she found herself locked in a cage again, which was covered with a black cloth.
She reached out and touched the iron bars. Her fur was almost scorched. Why is it electric? If I hold onto it, will I die?
Captain Lü: “Hurry up! We must reach the Young Lady tomorrow.”
Young Lady?
Who is that?
Bai Tang yawned. She couldn’t see outside. Is it night now?
Xiao Qi whispered: “Captain Lü, doesn’t the Patriarch dislike Xiao Xinyue? Why give such a valuable spirit beast to her? It would be so much better if he gave it to me…”
Captain Lü sternly rebuked her: “That is not something you should covet. Also, don’t speak the Young Lady’s name so casually.”
Bai Tang’s eyes widened.
What Young Lady? Xiao Xinyue!
Isn’t that the main villain from the novel?!
Bai Tang had been sprawled out, planning to sleep, but now she did a fish-like flop and sat straight up, her little paws resting on her shins.
Lying in the hospital all the time was too boring, so novels were her main form of entertainment.
And this book was one she remembered vividly.
The reason was simple: it was the only one she had ever read where the villain was stronger than the protagonist.
Xiao Xinyue was born with an extremely high affinity for magic. She could easily summon the surrounding magic elements. But villains like this often shared a common trope: beautiful, strong, and tragic.
Because she naturally contained magical power, her birth led to her mother’s death. Her father hated her and neglected her. People around her feared her magic and dared not get close to her. She grew up constantly surrounded by negativity.
The gentle and tolerant male lead became her only salvation. She clung desperately to this straw, unwilling to let go. But as everyone knew, the male lead loved the female lead, and the villain’s desire was destined to fail.
The already twisted villain was provoked, unleashing powerful magic and achieving the ending of world destruction.
It was the ultimate, “If I can’t be well, none of you will be well.”
Bai Tang had been completely unfazed when she finished the ending.
Ah, they died, everyone died.
But now… I’m going to die too!
She had finally been reborn with a healthy body, only to find out she had transmigrated into a book, and she was the villain’s spirit pet. This was literally the worst possible start.
Bai Tang was panicking.
I have to escape!
Bai Tang extended her short paws, gripped the iron bars, and was electrocuted into unconsciousness in a few seconds.
She was knocked out, lying on her back, her little paws twitching twice before she lost consciousness completely.
Captain Lü: “We’re here. Xiao Qi, go knock on the door.”
Bai Tang seemed to hear her and groggily opened her eyes.
The cage was no longer shaking. Are we here already?
Bai Tang instinctively wanted to run, but remembering the power of the iron cage, she retracted her little paws.
Wasn’t I supposed to be powerful? Why am I as weak as a little chick, unable to open a simple cage?
But I think I can use magic.
Bai Tang was still contemplating magic when the black cloth covering the cage was lifted. Having grown accustomed to the darkness, she blinked a few times, trying to adjust.
In front of her was an exquisite and beautiful Western-style house. There was a small garden on the second floor, bathed in perfect sunlight with gorgeous flowers in bloom. It looked very cozy, but Bai Tang knew very well how dark the villainous Young Lady living inside was.
The door opened, and a woman in a maid’s uniform stepped out with a cold expression.
Captain Lü politely asked: “Miss Lan, is the Young Lady in? I have brought her spirit pet.”
Bai Tang had a slight impression of this maid. She not only looked after the villainous Young Lady but was also the family’s butler, and she was very strong.
Lan Ji: “The Young Lady is right behind me.”
With that, she stepped aside.
Xiao Xinyue’s figure was reflected in Bai Tang’s sapphire-blue eyes.
The girl in front of her was only about ten years old, wearing a black Western dress. Her figure was slender, and her face was delicate and sweet like a doll’s. Even though she hadn’t shed her childishness, calling her a beauty was not an exaggeration.
Xiao Xinyue was holding a grey rabbit doll, whose eyes had been gouged out and were hanging on threads, making it look very eerie.
Bai Tang’s soft fur stood on end. She seems to be bristling.
She’s just a brat in her early teens. What am I afraid of? Bai Tang pulled herself together, glaring at her, her clear blue eyes wide open.
Xiao Qi was watching from the side.
Too cute. I want to pinch her little face.
Xiao Xinyue bit her lip, looking coldly at the group: “Why did Father give her to me?”
Captain Lü said respectfully: “The Patriarch believes you should have a spirit pet now.”
Xiao Xinyue: “Open the cage.”
Captain Lü glanced at Xiao Qi.
Bai Tang smiled, showing her little fangs. The moment the cage opened, she would run.
Lan Ji: “Young Lady, this spirit beast seems to really like you. She’s smiling.”
Xiao Xinyue glanced over and snorted coldly.
Bai Tang immediately stopped smiling.
I don’t like her at all!
Xiao Qi opened the cage.
Bai Tang was preparing for a cool jump-landing, but the moment she was out of the cage, she was caught off guard by the villain’s deep, cold eyes, like a dark pool of stagnant, lifeless water.
Her mind went blank, and she fell head-first to the ground, rolling a few times. Her fluffy fur made her look soft, but her head was spinning with stars, and her expression was dazed.
Xiao Qi laughed.
Captain Lü also laughed.
Even Lan Ji showed a hint of a smile.
Xiao Xinyue pinched the rabbit’s long ears: “So clumsy.”
Bai Tang: !!
I swear I’m going to bite you to death.
