Substitute Lover [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 72
“She doesn’t recognize me.”
Jiang Cha sat on the bench, her head lowered.
She was almost falling apart.
The hospital was crowded with people coming and going, their footsteps hurried and bustling, and there were casual glances everywhere. Jiang Cha just lowered her head, letting her long hair cover her side face, trying to look as calm as possible.
But the moment she said those words, her nose soured again, and tears began to fall.
Jiang Han sat beside her and couldn’t help but say, “This hospital is most famous for its neurology department. Did something happen to her when she came here?”
Jiang Cha’s voice was muffled, and she sobbed as she told the whole story. She spoke intermittently, and Jiang Han listened carefully, barely understanding, and then nodded.
“It’s okay,” she said. “Amnesia after brain surgery is normal, and it’s not permanent. She’ll definitely recover.” She stood up, straightened her collar, and slung her bag over her shoulder, “Don’t worry, I’ll go talk to her attending physician. After all, we’re in the same profession, and we can talk about it in more detail.”
“Thank you.”
The lights were cold and white.
She sat on the bench near Ji Fan’s ward, and with just a turn of her head, she could see what Ji Fan was doing inside.
In the ward, Ji Fan finished her apple and began to hold a book, quietly sitting on a white leather sofa by the window, turning the pages one by one.
Outside the window were dense green plants, and as the breeze blew, the treetops swayed like waves.
She was wearing a light blue striped hospital gown, her skin was pale, but her eyes were as clear and clean as before, occasionally revealing a hint of sharp sharpness when looking at people.
The single sofa was leaning against the transparent window, and a thick book was placed on a round small table. Ji Fan rested on the table, and her white jade-like fingertips turned the pages one by one. Her hair was loose, and the light illuminated half of her side face, from her forehead to her nose tip, with a translucent halo, and the curve of her thin lips was still elegant and beautiful.
As if noticing her, Ji Fan occasionally looked up from the book she was holding, looked at her side profile, and looked at her quietly for a while, her eyes filled with a subtle sense of inquiry.
But as soon as Jiang Cha looked over, Ji Fan quickly lowered her head, pretending not to see anything, as if she were still quietly reading a book.
What was she thinking?
“The doctor said that postoperative amnesia is still quite common. Her surgery was very successful, and there’s no big problem.”
Jiang Han put down her bag, sat on the bench, and took a breath before telling Jiang Cha what she had just talked about with the doctor. “Based on the current symptoms, Ji Fan has amnesia, but it’s recoverable. The doctor said that according to previous experience, some patients recover on their own in less than a week.”
A week?
Jiang Cha’s fingers curled up.
She turned her head and looked at Ji Fan from afar outside the door. She wanted to stand up and go in to say something to her, but thousands of words welled up in her throat, and she couldn’t say anything, she was even a little scared.
“Should you go see her?” Jiang Han said, “She’s only been cared for by a caregiver these past few days, it’s quite pitiful.”
Only one caregiver?
Why didn’t she tell her at the beginning, and why did she hide everything from her so arrogantly, telling her it was just a headache caused by a cold?
It was simply too much.
Jiang Cha pinched her brow, feeling a little overwhelmed. Before she could recover, she shook her head.
Jiang Han then asked Jiang Cha to wait outside while she went in to talk to Ji Fan.
She asked, “Do you remember anything?”
Ji Fan looked up from her book and examined her, “Who are you?”
Jiang Han said, “I’m a colleague of your attending physician.”
Ji Fan nodded and didn’t ask any more questions, just assuming she was also a doctor responsible for her post-operative care.
The two chatted for a while, and Jiang Han asked her how she was feeling. Ji Fan told her that she remembered everything about knowledge, but she forgot everything that happened in the past, the people she met, and even who she herself was. She forgot everything, and couldn’t remember at all.
Jiang Han nodded, looking a little hesitant.
She didn’t know how to introduce Jiang Cha.
Suddenly, Ji Fan coughed lightly, looked at the corridor outside the door, and then said, “Do you know her?”
“Who?”
Jiang Han looked back and found that Jiang Cha on the bench was nowhere to be seen. Where Ji Fan was looking, there was already no one.
Ji Fan then asked her indirectly if she knew a girl with long hair and fair skin.
Jiang Han was startled and didn’t understand what she wanted to ask, “Who are you talking about?”
Ji Fan lowered her head, and the white earlobe hidden in her long hair turned slightly red.
“Um… just a very young girl.”
Ji Fan’s long eyelashes drooped, hiding her expression.
“She had long hair, very white.”
“She was quite pretty.”
Jiang Han watched her quietly.
Ji Fan continued:
“I think her name was Jiang Cha.”
Jiang Han said, “I know her.”
Ji Fan then asked, “What’s your relationship with her?”
In that instant, Jiang Han saw a flash of sharpness in her dark eyes.
Although it was only for a brief moment.
But that feeling was all too familiar. Ji Fan had looked at her like that before. For a moment, her back felt cold, and she couldn’t help but wonder—
Was Ji Fan really amnesiac, or was she faking it?
She suddenly remembered that Jiang Cha had told her that she and Ji Fan had almost gotten divorced.
Jiang Han suddenly thought of something else, like—could it be that Ji Fan’s amnesia was feigned.
Maybe she was trying to use this method to escape the divorce that Jiang Cha had proposed to her before.
Jiang Han’s heart moved, so she decided to test her.
She said solemnly, “She’s my girlfriend.”
“Your girlfriend?”
Ji Fan was surprised, “You and her?”
Jiang Han chuckled, “Who else?”
Ji Fan was very surprised.
That girl named Jiang Cha liked girls.
For a moment, there was a sense of joy in her heart.
This inexplicable joy and happiness came from nowhere and passed quickly, and she felt a little inexplicable herself.
But then, she felt inexplicably melancholy, and her feelings were very complex.
It was like seeing a very beautiful gardenia, and she was still hesitating about whether to pick it from the branch and put it in her vase when suddenly someone came and picked it for her.
Regret.
Or something else.
If she was the doctor’s girlfriend, why did she look at her with that kind of look and cry so sadly?
Ji Fan frowned slightly.
T/N: This woman, I have no idea if she’s pretending or not. Ji Fan could definitely win an Oscar.
