Targeted by the Movie Queen - Chapter 3
Her legs were so weak she could barely stand, relying almost entirely on Su Zi for support.
The woman frowned when Shen Chuxia didn’t answer the door for so long and called over the manager.
Upon opening the door, she was met with an almost indecent scene inside the room.
Su Zi had her arm around Shen Chuxia’s waist, her face buried in the crook of Shen Chuxia’s neck, her hands restlessly trying to undo Shen Chuxia’s sash—only to be caught by Shen Chuxia.
The bathrobe hung loosely on her body, and the red marks at her neck were particularly eye-catching.
The woman immediately closed the door, blocking the view from those behind her.
Shen Chuxia gasped in shock and hurriedly adjusted her clothes.
Su Zi frowned at the intruder and stepped protectively in front of Shen Chuxia.
“Why are you here?”
“I should be the one asking you that. Weren’t you supposed to be at a show? How did you get back so quickly?” The woman’s gaze drifted to Shen Chuxia behind her, her expression turning suggestive. “Xiao Qiao told me you were back, and I was going to look for you later. Seems like I don’t have to now.”
Shen Chuxia clutched her clothes, too embarrassed to look at the woman. The thought of being caught in such a compromising position made her wish she could disappear into the ground. Soon, however, she noticed something odd.
“You two know each other?” Shen Chuxia asked, startled.
“Little Chu, this is Li Man, my manager,” Su Zi said, shooting Li Man a cold glare.
Li Man smirked. “I thought you knew my name. Guess I overestimated myself.”
“Then, she is…?” Shen Chuxia asked nervously, a growing sense of dread creeping into her heart.
The only actress from the crew who hadn’t arrived yet was the award-winning Su Zi… who had gone out for a show…
As the pieces fell into place, Shen Chuxia’s unease deepened.
“Of course, she’s Su Zi. Weren’t you two already acquainted?” Li Man said lazily.
Shen Chuxia’s eyes widened.
“How could I possibly know her?!”
Su Zi frowned and moved closer to Shen Chuxia, reaching out to embrace her. “Little Chu… you’re still angry with me, aren’t you…?”
Shen Chuxia quickly dodged behind Li Man.
“Stay back! If you have something to say, say it properly—and keep your hands to yourself! I think there’s been a misunderstanding. You must have mistaken me for someone else. I’ve never met you before!”
As Shen Chuxia spoke, Li Man gradually realized something was off.
“You really haven’t seen her before?” she asked, turning to Shen Chuxia.
Shen Chuxia nodded. “How could I have? I’ve only heard her name.”
Su Zi remained silent, staring at Shen Chuxia as if convinced she was still upset.
“Little Chu…”
“Wait, I think there might be some confusion here!”
Li Man stepped forward, placing herself between the two.
Shen Chuxia nodded in agreement, while Su Zi gazed at her mournfully, ignoring Li Man’s words entirely.
“Little Chu… I was wrong before. Please don’t be mad at me anymore, okay?”
Shen Chuxia frowned and pressed closer behind Li Man.
Su Zi tried to reach for her again, but before she could touch Shen Chuxia, Li Man blocked her.
“Hold on, let’s get this straight first. She really doesn’t seem to know you. Could it be you’ve mistaken her for someone else?”
“No, I couldn’t possibly be mistaken. I’d recognize my little Chu even if she turned into a ghost, let alone when she’s clearly my little Chu.” Su Zi spoke with absolute certainty, then looked at Shen Chuxia, “Little Chu has a red birthmark on her left shoulder. Later she thought it was unsightly, so she got a blue butterfly tattoo smaller than half a palm over it. I accompanied her when she got that tattoo – I couldn’t possibly remember wrong.”
Li Man looked over.
Shen Chuxia covered her shoulder without speaking, her face deathly pale.
