The Alpha Daughter-in-Law's Whitewashing Journey in a Reality Show with Her Child (GL) - Chapter 1
“See you later, Chu Xiao.”
A joyful voice of a little girl chirped.
“Bye, bye, Yaoyao. Have fun this weekend.”
Another little girl’s voice was a bit sad.
Qin Shiyue gave a slight nod to the other child’s parent, then took her daughter, Chu Xiao, by the hand and walked toward their car.
The usually chattering little one was completely silent now.
Qin Shiyue suppressed her curiosity, deciding to wait until they were in the car.
She put the child in her car seat in the back. To cheer her up, Qin Shiyue also gave her a lollipop.
Chu Xiao held the lollipop, looking up at her mommy. The look of injustice finally appeared on her face.
Qin Shiyue patted her head and closed the car door.
The older a child gets, the more personality they have. When Chu Xiao was little, her every feeling was written on her face. Now that she was in kindergarten, she had learned to hide her emotions.
But a child is a child, after all, and no matter how much they try to hide their emotions, they can’t hide them for long.
Qin Shiyue fastened her seatbelt. As she started the car, she asked, “Sweetie, why are you unhappy? Can you tell Mommy?”
No one answered.
Qin Shiyue checked the road conditions and glanced at her daughter in the rearview mirror. The little girl’s fair face held no trace of a smile, and her mouth was pouting so much you could hang an oil jug from it.
“Tell Mommy about it,” Qin Shiyue said. “Mommy is an adult and can help you. Maybe I can help you fix what’s making you sad.”
Hearing that, Chu Xiao suddenly let out a cry.
Helpless, Qin Shiyue pulled over.
She took the child out and hugged her, comforting her.
“It’s okay, Mommy’s here,” Qin Shiyue said softly, patting Chu Xiao’s back. “Did someone bully you? Mommy can help you bully them back. Don’t cry, don’t cry.”
It was rare for Chu Xiao to cry so hard.
After five or six minutes, Chu Xiao’s sobs finally subsided. She lowered her head and wiped all her tears and snot on her mom’s shoulder.
Feeling her actions, Qin Shiyue tightened her grip on the tissue in her hand. In the end, she couldn’t help but lovingly and helplessly pat the back of Chu Xiao’s head.
“Can you tell Mommy what happened? Were you bullied?”
Chu Xiao sniffled. “I wasn’t bullied.”
Qin Shiyue asked patiently, “Then why are you unhappy?”
Chu Xiao began to explain. “Today, Yaoyao’s mommy and daddy came to pick her up together. They also said they would take her to the amusement park this weekend. I want to go too.”
She started to cry again, as if the thought of it made her sad. Once she had calmed down, Qin Shiyue asked, “Well, what if Mommy takes you? Or what if Grandma and Grandpa take you?”
Chu Xiao frowned, wiped her tears, and struggled to get down. Qin Shiyue put her on the ground and used a tissue to wipe her face. After she was cleaned up, she was a fair and beautiful child once more.
Chu Xiao spoke in a feigned mature tone. “Mommy, you’re missing the point. I want to go with you and Mom, not just to the amusement park.”
A look of difficulty appeared on Qin Shiyue’s face. “Sweetie, Mommy will try to fulfill your wishes, but you know I can’t speak for Mom.”
Chu Xiao took her mommy’s hand and started walking toward the car. Her tone was disheartened. “I know. I understand. Mom has a special job, so it’s not convenient. Mommy, I’m sorry.”
Hearing her daughter’s words, Qin Shiyue felt a pang of sadness. She was only three years old, an age when she desperately needed both her moms, but only ever had her mommy by her side.
Other kids had a happy family of three, while their family always seemed to be missing one person. Chu Xiao was a sensible child, but she was only three. It was understandable that her heart would feel unbalanced when she saw other children with both of their parents.
In the back seat, Chu Xiao, tired from crying, drank a few sips of water and fell asleep.
The more Qin Shiyue thought about it, the angrier she got. How could someone be like that? She gave birth to a child and then didn’t even care, leaving the child sad and unhappy.
Their family’s story seemed to be a little different from others. In other families, the omega gives birth and takes care of the child, while the alpha is rarely home due to work and a career.
In their family, however, the omega went back to work as soon as her postpartum confinement was over, leaving her, an alpha, to be a stay-at-home parent.
The light ahead turned red, and Qin Shiyue gently tapped the brake.
Her phone rang, and Qin Shiyue connected her headset to answer. The angry emotion from before had not yet dissipated, so Qin Shiyue’s “Hello?” was very explosive.
The person on the other end paused for a moment before saying, “Shiyue, Grandma is in the hospital. Her dad and I have to go be with her. Do you want to bring Xiaoxiao straight to the hospital or something else?”
Qin Shiyue came back to her senses and apologized. “Mom, I’m sorry. I didn’t see the caller ID.”
The other side didn’t say anything, and Qin Shiyue heard the sound of a car door opening and closing.
Qin Shiyue thought for a moment and had a bold idea. “Mom, I’ll bring Xiaoxiao with me this week.”
The person on the other end was hesitant. “Are you sure? Will it be inconvenient?”
Qin Shiyue replied, “It’s fine.”
The person on the other end said directly, “Alright, then that’s the plan.”
After the call ended, Qin Shiyue took advantage of the red light to call another number.
“Beep… beep… beep…”
Great. No one answered until it hung up.
Qin Shiyue opened WeChat. The red light had about twenty seconds left, so she held down the voice message button. “I’m bringing the child with me this week. Mom and Dad are busy. Can you prepare a few outfits for the kid, inside and out… Never mind, you don’t know what size to buy. Just get the things the child needs… No, no, don’t prepare anything. No, wait, you should prepare something. Just be mentally prepared.”
On a movie set, after a long silence, the director shouted, “Cut!”
He stood up, clapping. “That was good, very good. Siyun, you’re the best…” The director gave her a thumbs-up.
Chu Siyun took the tissue from her assistant to wipe the tear stains from her face and went to the monitor to watch the playback. It was indeed good, but she asked, “Can we do one more take to be safe?”
The director nodded. “Sure.”
They did the scene again.
After they were finished, Chu Siyun took the insulated mug from her assistant and sat in her chair.
The assistant, Xiao Chen, handed her phone to her. “Sister, that person called you just now and also sent a voice message.”
Chu Siyun took another sip of water, gave the cup to the assistant, and took the phone. It was a 27-second voice message.
It was a miracle. Didn’t she have a big problem with her? She always kept her messages as short as possible, and would only use a single period if that’s all it took.
The set was crowded with people, so to be safe, Chu Siyun converted the voice message to text.
“I’m bringing the child with me this week, Mom and Dad are busy. Can you prepare a few outfits for the kid, and by the way, I don’t know what size to buy, just prepare what the child needs. No, no, don’t prepare anything. No, wait, you should prepare something. Just be mentally prepared.”
It was a bit messy, but Chu Siyun understood. The child was coming this week. The child, too.
“Xiao Chen, give me my headphones.” Chu Siyun went from half-reclining in her chair to sitting straight up.
She was going to see her child. The thought of being with her child made her feel a little nervous and a little guilty.
A minute later, Chu Siyun exited the chat window. She held her phone, stunned for a moment.
Xiao Chen didn’t dare to breathe beside her. She had been with Chu Siyun for more than three years and knew that the actress would never get angry under normal circumstances, especially with outsiders on set, where she was known to be friendly and approachable.
But she also knew that Chu Siyun was never “normal” around her wife. The normally eloquent person would become incredibly awkward when she was with her wife. The most unbelievable thing was that Chu Siyun’s wife seemed to be a bit spoiled, always doing things that she knew would make Chu Siyun angry.
Xiao Chen had no right to interfere in a couple’s relationship. It had to be a case of one person willing to be the victim. In fact, Chu Siyun’s wife was very good to her. No matter where Chu Siyun was filming, she would always come to be with her during her heat.
Xiao Chen tried to make herself as invisible as possible. She didn’t want to get caught in the crossfire.
In the car back to the hotel, Chu Siyun was lying motionless in her seat, staring at the ceiling, her eyes unfocused.
Her manager, Bi Qiujun, sat beside her and talked about work arrangements. “Siyun, this movie will be finished in two weeks. A lot of scripts have been submitted. I’ve already filtered them once and put them in your room. Remember to read them.”
Chu Siyun replied with a lifeless “Mhm.”
Bi Qiujun looked back at Xiao Chen, who was sitting in the back. Xiao Chen looked back with a confused expression. She really had no idea.
A strange silence fell over the car. Bi Qiujun wanted to say something, but didn’t know what.
Chu Siyun was a very mysterious celebrity. Bi Qiujun became Chu Siyun’s manager eight years ago. At that time, she was already a well-known figure in the entertainment industry, but Chu Siyun was a complete newcomer.
Chu Siyun had great natural talent. She was beautiful and had a great figure; you couldn’t find anyone more perfect than her in the entertainment industry. So Bi Qiujun put a lot of her energy into her. Fortunately, Chu Siyun did not disappoint. She became a huge success and quickly became a top actress in the industry.
But the good times didn’t last long. Bi Qiujun thought she and Chu Siyun had the same goals and would grow together as comrades-in-arms. But she was wrong.
Four years ago, Chu Siyun paid a huge amount in liquidated damages and simply disappeared from the entertainment industry. Bi Qiujun both loved and hated Chu Siyun. Chu Siyun’s popularity raised Bi Qiujun’s status, giving her more say in the industry. But Chu Siyun’s sudden disappearance was a huge blow to Bi Qiujun. She didn’t have any artist who could replace her at the time, and it was impossible to find another Chu Siyun.
Three years ago, Chu Siyun suddenly reappeared, quietly establishing her own studio and offering an olive branch to Bi Qiujun. At that time, Bi Qiujun just wanted to have a stable career and didn’t dare to agree. The huge amount Chu Siyun paid in liquidated damages was much more than what she earned, so this person’s background was definitely not simple.
With resources from who-knows-where, Chu Siyun’s movie was released quietly. The box office was low at first, but with good word-of-mouth, it had a continuous reverse growth in box office for many consecutive days. The final result was not bad.
At the film festival that year, Chu Siyun was even more incredible. She swept the awards, taking all three of the major domestic film awards, and even made it to the international stage, winning an international best actress award.
Bi Qiujun was not stupid. Raising ten top celebrities was not as good as raising one Chu Siyun. Besides, Chu Siyun had promised her that she would not suddenly disappear again.
They had been working together for more than three years, and Chu Siyun continued to exert her power, gradually becoming an unreachable existence. Bi Qiujun made a lot of money and became more relaxed. Having only one artist to manage, she could balance work and family. It was a perfect situation.
Bi Qiujun leaned back in her chair and asked nonchalantly, “What’s wrong?”
Chu Siyun’s tone was even more casual than hers. “My daughter is also coming this week.”
Bi Qiujun shot up from the back of her chair and sat up straight. “What did you say?”
