The Alpha Daughter-in-Law's Whitewashing Journey in a Reality Show with Her Child (GL) - Chapter 4
Chu Siyun’s mind was still frozen. Bi Qiujun got more specific. “There’s no solid evidence released yet. Should we handle it directly, or… We’ve always used money to settle things before. Should we do the same this time?”
For some reason, Bi Qiujun had a feeling Chu Siyun was going to go public. With her current status, revealing her family wouldn’t hurt her career. She had a stable reputation, a strong public image, and a huge fanbase. She no longer had to rely on fan traffic. Besides, many of her fans were still urging her to get married, saying their goddess was at the age where she needed someone to take care of her.
The phone against her ear was suddenly closer. Chu Siyun was much more awake now and reached out to grab it herself. Her hand wrapped around someone else’s. Qin Shiyue didn’t seem to mind, pulling her hand away and rolling over to continue sleeping.
Chu Siyun took the phone and looked at her daughter sleeping soundly in her arms. “I’ll discuss it with her.” She gently removed her daughter’s small hand from her waist, and Chu Xiao rolled over to the other side. After tucking her in, Chu Siyun scooted closer to Qin Shiyue and gently poked her back with her index finger. “Qin Shiyue.”
“Mm.”
Chu Siyun moved closer and whispered, “I want to go public.”
Qin Shiyue was silent for so long that Chu Siyun thought she had fallen asleep. Regarding both her work and her family, Chu Siyun knew she hadn’t done a good job at either, especially having a child, which felt like a game. The pregnancy was an accident, and both families suggested she keep the baby, so Chu Xiao was born. It seemed she never cared about Qin Shiyue’s opinion. Qin Shiyue was much younger than her, but she had accommodated her in so many ways. She hadn’t even given Qin Shiyue a legitimate title, and that was truly wrong.
Although Qin Shiyue might not care about these things, Chu Siyun’s heart was filled with guilt at this moment. And the child… she owed the child even more.
Qin Shiyue let out a heavy sigh, climbed out from under the covers, and leaned against the headboard. Chu Siyun looked up to meet her gaze.
Suddenly, Qin Shiyue reached out and covered Chu Siyun’s eyes.
Chu Siyun asked, “What do you think?”
Qin Shiyue chuckled softly. “What do I think? Does what I think matter?”
The words were a direct hit, crushing Chu Siyun’s heart. Before this, their few meetings were always during her heat, and their few conversations were about the marking. They had never sat down and had a proper talk.
Chu Siyun removed the hand covering her eyes and said in a hushed voice, “I’m sorry.”
Qin Shiyue turned her face away. After about two minutes, Qin Shiyue looked at Chu Siyun again. Her tone had returned to normal. “Go public. After you do, spend more time with the child. She needs it.”
Chu Siyun’s profound gaze fell on Qin Shiyue’s face.
Qin Shiyue reminded her, “Go public. Tell your manager. There’s no time to waste.”
Chu Siyun was jolted. She called Bi Qiujun. The other end seemed to have been waiting for her call and picked up quickly.
“How should we handle it?”
Chu Siyun’s voice was back to normal. “I want to go public.”
As expected, Bi Qiujun asked, “How do you want to do it?”
Chu Siyun thought for a few seconds before answering, “I’ll post a Weibo myself. I’ll leave the rest to you.”
After discussing a few more things, they hung up.
Qin Shiyue was already lying down again, her back to her. In reality, Chu Siyun had wanted to ask her, What about you? What do you need? But now, she thought, What right do I have to ask?
Before putting her phone down, Chu Siyun glanced at the time. It was a little after seven. They had been busy very late last night, so she should go back to sleep. As for what was happening online, since she was going to go public anyway, it didn’t matter what it turned into. She didn’t care.
Just as Chu Siyun lay down, her daughter turned over and opened her eyes. Seeing the little girl smiling at her, Chu Siyun’s voice softened. “Are you awake?”
Chu Xiao snuggled into her arms like she was trying to get a hug. “Mom.”
Chu Siyun hugged her daughter tightly, feeling very content. Qin Shiyue was right. She had given the child too little of her time. Going public was the best choice now.
After getting enough hugs, Chu Xiao realized it was Mom, not Mommy, who was holding her. She backed away from her mom’s arms a little shyly. “Mom, I’m hungry.”
Chu Siyun was stunned. Hungry? Eat. “Mom will have someone send food up, okay? Just wait a minute.”
Chu Xiao was about to remind her mom that she just wanted milk when Qin Shiyue on the other side of the bed climbed out. Qin Shiyue had long arms and legs and easily stepped over the obstacles to go to the couch and rummage through the bag. Her entire body screamed sleepiness, but her movements were precise. In less than two minutes, a cup of milk was ready.
Qin Shiyue yawned as she walked over to Chu Xiao and handed her the cup. The moment Chu Xiao took the cup, she put it on the nightstand. “Mommy, I need to go to the bathroom.”
Qin Shiyue immediately scooped Chu Xiao out of the bed and carried her to the bathroom. Chu Siyun had watched the whole process and was shocked. Did a three-year-old still drink milk? Well, she hadn’t taken care of a child, so she wasn’t qualified to comment.
A toilet flushed. Qin Shiyue closed the door with one hand while holding the child with the other. Chu Xiao asked, “Mommy, are you still sleepy?”
Qin Shiyue lifted her eyelids, which were about to close. “Mm.”
Just a few seconds later, Qin Shiyue was sitting on the edge of the bed, holding Chu Xiao on her lap and putting the cup back in her hands. So this was what it was like to take care of a slightly older child.
Chu Xiao said, as she sipped her milk through a straw, “Then you can go back to sleep later, Mommy.”
Qin Shiyue’s eyes were almost closed, and she nodded instinctively.
As she drank her milk and talked, Chu Xiao choked and started coughing violently. Qin Shiyue quickly patted her back. Chu Siyun pulled a tissue and handed it to her.
Qin Shiyue took the tissue, glanced at Chu Siyun, and focused on the child. “Don’t talk when you’re eating or drinking.”
Chu Xiao nodded.
After being glanced at by Qin Shiyue, Chu Siyun felt a strange feeling in her heart. There was a bit of doubt in that look.
Chu Xiao was now drinking her milk quietly, and Qin Shiyue was lightly stroking her back. This scene could only be described as “heartwarming” in Chu Siyun’s mind. She took out her phone and found an angle to take a picture.
The camera shutter sound was not muted. Qin Shiyue looked back in confusion. Chu Siyun handed her the phone. “Is it okay to post on Weibo?”
Qin Shiyue looked at the photo from Chu Siyun’s hand. The background was the slightly transparent curtains, and the light was dim. It was a side-view shot. Her hair was down, so you couldn’t really see her face. The child was completely blocked, with only a small part of her visible.
“It’s fine.”
Maybe it was because her mommy was patting her so comfortably, or maybe it was because she was so content after finishing her milk, but Chu Xiao fell asleep again.
After putting the child down, Qin Shiyue said softly, “Move over to that side. We’ll get some more sleep.”
Chu Siyun moved to where Qin Shiyue had been sleeping and continued to edit the Weibo post. After checking it one last time, Chu Siyun clicked send. She logged out of her account, looked at the two people who were already fast asleep, and fell asleep herself. She was sure Bi Qiujun would handle the aftermath well, so there was no need to worry.
At 7 a.m., a well-known entertainment reporter, Liu Qiang, posted a scoop: “First big news of November 2022: a child. A certain famous actress has been secretly married and has a child. Let’s wait and see.”
He didn’t include a photo. Since Liu Qiang had broken many real stories before, his post caused a stir online. To get a famous reporter to post a scoop at 7 a.m., it must be about a big celebrity. The fans of various stars started to argue.
“Is it actress Li? She hasn’t been in a film for several months. Is she off having a baby?”
“Please provide evidence. Slander and defamation are illegal.”
“Funny, does she even have the talent to be in a movie?”
“Then who could it be? Secretly married and has a child… He X?”
“Get real. He X was in seclusion two years ago. After that, she went straight to winning Best Actress.”
“My mind is open now. A wild guess: actress Liu?”
“Please focus on actors’ work, not their private lives.”
The internet was in a huge fight, listing many possible suspects. Fans were busy presenting evidence, while passersby just watched the drama.
At 7:30 a.m., Liu Qiang replied to the “actress Liu” comment with, “You can open your mind a little more.” The internet, which had calmed down a bit, started to boil again.
“Oh no, no way. Who else could it be?”
“That’s actress Liu. How can it get bigger?”
At 8 a.m., two Weibo posts were sent out at the same time, and the online buzz reached its peak.
