The Anti-Alpha Protagonist is Exceptionally Biased Towards Me (GL) - Chapter 12
Filming gradually got back on track, and Gu Yu’s performance continued to impress. Liu Yanxi didn’t know that the other person had a lot of acting experience in her past life. All she knew from her resume was that Gu Yu wasn’t professionally trained, but she had a natural sense of the camera and a spiritual quality that many actors lacked.
Liu Yanxi remarked more than once, “Some people are just born to do this.”
After another scene, Liu Yanxi stood up and called into her walkie-talkie, “Cut!”
“Take a break. The props team, come and clean up the set. Get ready for the next scene.”
Gu Yu covered her chest, took a breath, and detached herself from the emotions of the character she was playing.
Ming Xin stood opposite her in a crimson-colored ancient immortal robe, which was stained with a lot of fake blood. However, because the color of the clothes was dark, she didn’t look too disheveled.
In contrast, Gu Yu’s white immortal robe was two-thirds stained red. Liu Yanxi was a director who pursued seriousness and realism. The costumes and props were all made to be detailed and lifelike. The contrast between white and red was visually striking.
The makeup artist had drawn a few bloody marks on her cold, ethereal face, and her lips were stained with blood, like a high-mountain flower whose delicate branch had been broken. This look of injury made people want to use their fingers to press on the injured corner of her lip, making the color even more vivid.
Song Xinran stared at this look in the video. Her heart ached, and she felt as if the air had become thin.
This video was posted by Liu Yanxi on her private social media account. The friends on this account were all her relatives. Liu Yanxi had a pure love for filmmaking and would often post about the daily goings-on of the film crew.
In the past, Song Xinran wasn’t interested in these things and would always scroll past them without ever clicking to watch.
This time, however, when she saw her aunt’s post about the daily life on the set of Path of Immortals, her finger, which was swiping across the screen, stopped as if by a higher power. By the time she realized what she was doing, she had already opened the video and was subconsciously looking for a certain alpha.
Gu Yu appeared in the video for only a short time. The person filming basically walked around the set and filmed everyone. But Song Xinran kept rewinding the video, watching the few seconds where she appeared over and over again.
She felt like she was possessed.
On the set, the filming of a fight scene had just ended. The fake blood was sticky and uncomfortable, especially in the summer heat, which made her feel hot and stuffy.
Whether it was her imagination or not, Gu Yu felt a soreness in her neck’s scent gland. This had only happened on the first day she had transmigrated.
087 had gone into a deep sleep a while ago and hadn’t appeared since. Gu Yu could only try to call the automated system.
[Are you there?]
The automated system was a rigid program and not very smart. It didn’t respond to her casual greeting.
Gu Yu didn’t give up. She thought for a moment and added a trigger word this time.
[Scent gland test.]
The next second, she heard a “ding” in her mind, followed by the automated system’s mechanical voice.
[Detecting host’s request. Scent gland test has begun.]
[Scanning…]
[Test results: No abnormalities.]
No abnormalities? Gu Yu subconsciously touched her scent gland, her brows furrowing slightly.
She was about to ask the system to test again when a voice spoke. “Gu Yu, do you need to practice lines again?”
It was Ming Xin, standing not far from her. She was holding a script and lightly waving it in her direction. Her assistant was standing next to her, holding a small fan and a cup of water.
Gu Yu had no choice but to put her plan on hold for now. She nodded and said, “Okay.”
After walking over, Ming Xin said, “Why haven’t you hired an assistant yet? On such a hot day, you don’t even have anyone to hand you water or a fan.”
Gu Yu replied simply, “I’m looking for one,” and said no more.
“Fine.” Ming Xin said, not dwelling on it. She held her small fan a little closer and said, “Do you want some air?”
Gu Yu took a small step back, politely and distantly. “Thank you, but no need.”
She was sweating, and the other person was an omega. No matter what, being too close wasn’t a good thing. Besides, Gu Yu herself didn’t like being too close to people.
Ming Xin pouted, feigning anger. “Aiya, why are you so far away from me? I’m not some monster that eats people.”
After spending time with her, she felt that this alpha was indeed just like her appearance suggested: unapproachable and always maintaining a polite distance.
Gu Yu didn’t answer that question but changed the subject. “Let’s practice lines.”
This successfully diverted Ming Xin’s attention.
The next scene was still a fight scene, but they needed to switch cameras and locations. The dialogue was actually not much. The two of them went to a side to practice their lines. Ming Xin asked her assistant to wait where she was.
Everyone had different habits. Ming Xin didn’t like it when someone was watching her too closely while she was practicing lines.
The moment she turned around, Gu Yu keenly felt the assistant’s gaze on her. It was very uncomfortable, like being stared at by a sticky poisonous snake, giving off a dark and humid feeling. But when she looked closely, the other person was looking down with a very normal and honest expression.
“Why did you stop? Aren’t you going?”
Gu Yu retracted her gaze and continued to follow behind Ming Xin.
After they finished practicing, Gu Yu saw no need to stay and left.
As she walked past her, a faint fragrance floated to Ming Xin’s nose. It was faint and elusive, but it disappeared so quickly that it felt like a hallucination.
Her scent gland warmed up for a moment, but the weather was so hot that she easily ignored this small change.
Not far away, the male lead of Path of Immortals saw Gu Yu walk away. His eyes glinted slightly, and he walked over to Ming Xin. “It’s lucky for a newcomer to get so many added scenes. But Director Liu is too much. With your popularity, Sister Ming, she gave you a newcomer to act with.”
The two had a similar status in the entertainment industry, but Ming Xin had entered the industry earlier. It was not out of place for this new award-winning actor to call her “Sister Ming.”
At this moment, the smile on his face was gentle, and he seemed to be truly thinking of Ming Xin.
Ming Xin, however, scoffed in her heart. She felt that this person was as fake as ever. His jealousy was almost visible on his face, but he still pretended to be concerned about her.
There were no cameras around, and the people around them were a certain distance away, so Ming Xin had no qualms about it. She returned his smile. “It’s fine. I’m not as petty as you.”
The few words were enough to make the other person’s face turn completely dark.
The next scene began quickly. Gu Yu held her sword and pointed it at the person opposite her. She was as cold as frost and snow. “You demon! Today, I’m going to bury you right here!”
Ming Xin’s character, the Holy Maiden of the Demonic Cult, held a whip and had an arrogant smile. “It’s not certain who will live and who will die!”
After saying that, both of them charged forward. According to the script, Ming Xin would swing her whip, and Gu Yu would use her sword to block it.
But when the whip came down, Gu Yu felt that something was wrong. Her sword made a faint “crack” and broke into two pieces.
Then, a sharp pain shot through her wrist.
••••
“Are you saying that you’re unconsciously paying attention to a certain alpha?” Dr. Shen’s voice came from the phone.
“Yes, I want to know why.” Song Xinran said, pressing her lips together. A hint of confusion and bewilderment that was hard to detect showed in her eyes.
“It’s that alpha who gave you the umbrella on the side of the road, isn’t it?” Dr. Shen said.
Song Xinran: “…Yes.”
Dr. Shen said, “Maybe you have a good feeling about that alpha?”
But Song Xinran eagerly cut her off. “Impossible.”
Shen Xinyi was startled by her agitated reaction. After a moment, she organized her words and said again:
“Okay. Well, there’s another possibility. Miss Song, do you remember the results of your last checkup? Your pheromone concentration is very low, suppressed too much. It’s causing your pheromones to subconsciously crave an alpha’s mark. And that alpha might have a very high compatibility with you.”
“Are you saying that my current odd behavior is actually due to the influence of my pheromones?” At this moment, Song Xinran didn’t know what to feel.
“You could say that.”
“Then how can I get rid of this influence? I don’t like this feeling of losing control.”
“Miss Song, are you sure you don’t want to get a mark from her? I don’t know what caused you to dislike alpha’s closeness and marks so much, but from a doctor’s perspective, Miss Song, I have to kindly remind you that your scent gland can’t handle frequent injections of inhibitors anymore.”
The other side didn’t speak for a long time. Shen Xinyi could only sigh. “If you really want to get rid of this feeling, then stay away from her in the future. Don’t go near her again.”
She could only say so much.
After hanging up, Song Xinran held her phone, thinking about the conversation. After a long time, she made up her mind.
She wouldn’t pay attention to Gu Yu anymore. She would stay away from that alpha.
She deliberately ignored the faint sense of loss in her heart and reopened her phone. The page from before she locked her screen appeared again.
It was still her social media feed, which showed that “Aunt” had posted a new update.
Song Xinran hardened her heart, ready to exit, but then she saw the content.
[Sigh, someone on the crew got injured. Filming will probably be delayed for a while.]
The photo showed a group of people surrounding a person in the center. A small piece of a white, blood-stained robe was visible.
A “buzz” echoed in Song Xinran’s mind, and her thoughts slowed down.
She didn’t hesitate for a moment. She immediately stood up and walked outside.
To hell with staying away. To hell with not paying attention. All her previous jumbled thoughts were thrown to the back of her mind, and she couldn’t remember a single one of them.
Gu Yu was injured.
