The Anti-Alpha Protagonist is Exceptionally Biased Towards Me (GL) - Chapter 14
The whole situation happened so suddenly.
Feeling the soft body in her arms, a rare look of astonishment flashed across Gu Yu’s face.
“Miss Song…” she called out.
Song Xinran’s hands were on Gu Yu’s shoulders, and her nose was almost touching Gu Yu’s. The sudden closeness made her body stiffen. Her lips, covered in red lip gloss, opened and closed. She stuttered, “So- sorry, my legs went a little weak.”
Because of her “throwing herself into her arms,” the two of them were now very close, closer than ever before. So close that their eyes met, and their noses were only a few fingers apart.
Song Xinran could even feel the clear, shallow breaths of the alpha in front of her and see the tiny white fuzz on Gu Yu’s face.
As their breaths mingled, the fresh fragrance became even more intense.
Her scent gland was constantly burning, accompanied by a tingling sensation. The omega’s instincts made her body uncontrollably crave the alpha’s pheromones.
But she didn’t seem to notice. She just stared blankly at Gu Yu’s eyes, which were so close.
These eyes are so beautiful. They were as clear as a mountain spring, with a natural coolness when they looked at you. The beauty mark at the corner of her eye was a bold stroke of ink. She had never been this close to an alpha before.
“Thump-thump, thump-thump.” Her heartbeat was like a summer downpour, echoing louder and louder in her ears.
At the same time, seeing Song Xinran’s strange behavior, Gu Yu also felt that something was wrong. A faint sweet fragrance, like a type of alcohol, was in the air. When she smelled it, her scent gland became unusually sore and swollen.
That’s strange…
“Gu, Gu Yu, your pheromones are leaking.”
Pheromones? After hearing what Song Xinran said, Gu Yu realized what was happening and poked the auxiliary system in her mind again.
[Scent gland test.]
After the familiar “ding,” the auxiliary system’s voice was calm and without emotion.
[Test results: No abnormalities.]
Gu Yu frowned and said again: [Scent gland test.]
The answer was still the same: [Scent gland test: No abnormalities.]
Just as she was beginning to suspect that the system was malfunctioning, the auxiliary system’s voice appeared in her mind again: [The host has asked the same question three times in a short period. The system will perform a comprehensive scan.]
[1%, 26%, 73%… 100%]
[Scent gland data has been generated. Please review, Host.]
[Scent gland: No abnormalities. Status: transitioning from semi-mature to pre-mature stage.]
[System tidbit: This stage usually occurs in alphas or omegas around the age of 18. This is a normal phenomenon. Please do not worry, Host. You can simply retract your pheromones with guidance.]
Gu Yu was well past the age of eighteen. The normal alpha development stage didn’t apply to her. It seemed that this was due to the world’s consciousness placing a scent gland on her in the middle of her life.
She thought to herself, a little helplessly, This world’s consciousness sure knows how to cause trouble.
All of this happened in her mind and seemed to take a long time, but to Song Xinran, the other person had only zoned out for three or four seconds.
“Gu Yu,” Song Xinran called her name again, her voice rising at the end, as if in distress or perhaps even a little bit of a plea.
Thinking about what the system had just said, the best solution now was to retract her pheromones.
But Gu Yu’s heart sank a little. Retracting pheromones sounded simple, but the problem was that she wasn’t from this world and knew nothing about it.
The omega in her arms was breathing more and more erratically. Fortunately, this area was secluded with a lot of cover, so there was no one around for the time being. But she couldn’t guarantee that no one would find them if this situation continued.
Gu Yu hesitated for a moment, then lowered her head and whispered in Song Xinran’s ear, “Miss Song, can you teach me how to retract my pheromones?”
Her black hair fell with her movement, and as luck would have it, it landed on Song Xinran’s collarbone. It was slightly itchy, with a hint of coolness.
Song Xinran’s eyes were hazy. She distractedly held the strand of hair and heard her own voice say, “Okay.”
••••
“Did you see Director Liu’s face just now? It was so dark and stormy. It was really scary.”
“Of course. Who wouldn’t be angry? One person’s issue delayed the entire crew’s progress.”
“That male lead is an alpha, too. He’s so delicate.”
“Today’s artists are all spoiled. They can’t compare to how it was before.”
“But the props team is pretty unlucky, too. There have been two prop incidents today.”
“Why would they be unlucky? One of the incidents was deliberate. Someone put glass shards in the whip, but the other one was just the props team being careless with their inspection.”
Two crew members were carrying things, complaining as they walked.
They reached a corner, and their conversation came to an abrupt halt. Their expressions were full of embarrassment.
Gu Yu and Song Xinran were standing there. Gu Yu’s face remained impassive, hiding her thoughts. Song Xinran’s eyes were dark and filled with anger. “What did you just say was put in the whip?”
In the director’s private lounge, Liu Yanxi rubbed her forehead, looking a little tired. “So you all know now.”
Gu Yu nodded. “Yeah,” she said. She wasn’t an idiot. When the whip hit her wrist, she knew there was something sharp inside. But then Song Xinran pulled her away, and she hadn’t had a chance to confirm it.
Song Xinran’s hand was pressed on the table. A dark cloud hung over her, and her eyes were filled with anger. “Director Liu, can you find out who did this?”
Liu Yanxi shook her head, looking a little helpless. “I already had people check the surveillance. A part of the footage was edited out. I’ve hired a professional to see if it can be restored.”
Liu Yanxi said this. She felt a bit of guilt about what had happened.
“Don’t worry, I’ll find out who did it and give Gu Yu an explanation.”
She looked at Gu Yu. “Gu Yu, you should rest well today.”
Seeing the genuine apology and concern in Liu Yanxi’s eyes, Gu Yu felt a little warmth in her heart. She nodded and said, “Thank you, Director Liu.”
“There’s no need to thank me.” Liu Yanxi’s expression softened a little. It was true that there was no harm without a comparison. She now felt that Gu Yu was truly dedicated and easy to work with.
Gu Yu went back to the hotel on her own. Before she left, she glanced at Song Xinran but didn’t say anything.
When only Liu Yanxi and Song Xinran were left in the lounge, Song Xinran continued. “Aunt, is there really no way to find that person right now?”
Liu Yanxi said, “Right now, we can only find clues through surveillance.”
Song Xinran was a little disappointed. Liu Yanxi looked at her. “As for you, why are you so concerned about this?”
As her family, she knew Song Xinran’s personality better than anyone. Her behavior was a little unusual.
A hint of awkwardness flashed in Song Xinran’s eyes. “After all, Xingchen Entertainment is the biggest investor in this film. Now that something like this has happened, as the sister of the president of Xingchen, I have to make sure the filming progress is on track. Besides, if we don’t find that person, what if they do something even more extreme?”
She said a lot, and her tone became more and more certain, as if it were really the case.
Liu Yanxi nodded and didn’t say whether she believed her or not, but there was one thing she agreed with. “You’re right. If we don’t find this person, who knows if they’ll do something even more serious.”
She sighed, and her eyes shifted, suddenly stopping at Song Xinran’s waist.
She asked, “How did your clothes get fake blood on them?”
And in such an intimate place as her waist.
Song Xinran turned to the side, trying to hide it. “I almost fell just now, and Gu Yu helped me.”
If it had been any other time, Liu Yanxi would have noticed her odd behavior, but today she was too tired. She didn’t think too much of it. “I have clean clothes at the hotel that I haven’t worn. Do you want to change, or you can go back and change yourself.”
After all, the two of them looked about the same height. It would be fitting for Song Xinran to wear her new clothes.
Song Xinran hesitated for a moment. “I’ll go back and change.”
She didn’t stay on set for long. When she got home, Aunt Jiang came out to greet her. When she saw the blood on her clothes, a look of surprise flashed in her eyes. “Young Miss, you’re all…”
Song Xinran explained, “It’s just some fake blood from the set. It’s nothing.”
Aunt Jiang had no choice but to swallow her questions. She felt more and more that she couldn’t understand the Young Miss’s thoughts. After all, in the past, she had never been to the film set this often.
Song Xinran wasn’t aware of Aunt Jiang’s complex feelings. She didn’t stop and went straight to her room.
The Song residence was very big. As an old-money family, it was a very well-established estate. The retro-style mansion was located in the wealthy area of the capital, which was prime real estate. Unlike the urbanization of the rest of the capital, the greenery here was excellent.
Song Xinran’s room was in the middle of the second-floor corridor. The view was wide open. From the window, she could see a man-made lake. The sunlight shone through the gaps in the leaves, casting a dappled light on the ground.
The window was not closed for ventilation, and the white gauze curtain was lifted by a gentle breeze, bringing in a hint of the summer heat. The curtain lifted and brushed against the full-length mirror next to it.
A moment later, the wind stopped, and the curtain fell, reflecting Song Xinran’s figure in the mirror.
The omega’s body in the mirror had excellent proportions. Her waist was very slim, seemingly small enough to be grasped with one hand. The rose-pink long dress gave off a passionate and flamboyant feeling. Her hair, which had been tied up, was now down, covering her scent gland. Her slightly wavy long hair fell over her shoulders.
She looked at herself in the mirror, as if in a daze. After a while, she couldn’t help herself. She first lifted the hair at the back of her neck and gently pressed her scent gland.
The area was no longer sore or numb like it had been on the set. The scene of her teaching Gu Yu how to retract her pheromones uncontrollably appeared in her mind. Her ears gradually turned from white to pink, then from pink to red.
The owner of the body was completely unaware. She only lowered her eyes, picked up the collar of her dress with her fingertips, and slowly, slowly brought it to her nose, smelling the fabric.
As if she could still smell Gu Yu on it.
