The Anti-Alpha Protagonist is Exceptionally Biased Towards Me (GL) - Chapter 15
At the hotel, Gu Yu closed her door. She didn’t rush inside. Instead, she leaned against the door, her head slightly tilted.
The room card hadn’t been inserted, and it was dark. In this environment, her somewhat chaotic thoughts finally had a temporary place to rest.
The scent gland at the back of her neck had calmed down, but her mind was still replaying the scene. She couldn’t forget the feeling of Miss Song’s lips against her earlobe as she taught her how to retract her pheromones, nor could she forget her warm breath.
Miss Song’s waist was very slender and soft. Her phoenix eyes were beautiful and captivating. When she usually looked at people, she had an unapproachable and noble air. But what Gu Yu was thinking of now was how those eyes looked when they were misty and bright, beautiful like a lake sparkling under the setting sun.
While her thoughts were in a jumble, a sudden “knock-knock” sounded at her door.
Her mind returned to reality. Gu Yu opened the door.
The hand that Ming Xin had used to knock on the door hadn’t been lowered yet. She was startled, and her words were a little unsteady. “You, you opened the door really quickly.”
Gu Yu didn’t say she had been at the door. She just asked calmly, “Is something wrong?”
Her expression was too cold. Ming Xin’s usually lively eyes looked a little flustered. “Your room is so dark. Didn’t you turn on the lights?”
“Okay, well, I actually came to check on your injury… I’m sorry.”
“Why are you saying you’re sorry?” A look of genuine confusion appeared in Gu Yu’s eyes. “You didn’t do anything wrong.”
Ming Xin was visibly relieved to hear that. “You’re not mad at me? I’m the one who hurt you.”
“I’m not.” Although she didn’t understand Ming Xin’s logic, she answered honestly.
“That’s good, that’s good.” Ming Xin’s shoulders visibly relaxed. “You have no idea, I was so scared. I immediately turned around to look for a first-aid kit. But when I came back, you were gone. I looked for you for a long time. When I heard you went back to the hotel, I came here.”
She looked at Gu Yu’s right wrist, which was hanging at her side. “The wound has already been bandaged. That’s good.”
She said, half-jokingly and half-testing, “See? It’s so hard to find someone when you don’t have a contact number.”
Gu Yu’s fingers stiffened slightly. She thought to herself with a poker face, How can we not have a contact number? Not only do we have one, but you and the original character have also chatted for quite a while.
The original character probably assumed that she had no future in the entertainment industry. As the saying goes, when you’re not famous, you don’t have to worry about gossip. So she used her main account to flirt with people.
A while ago, she had deleted a few dozen people after she had paid back some of the money. She didn’t think it was necessary to create another account. Who would have thought that things would be such a coincidence and one of the original character’s hookups would be on the same film crew?
But later, because she was too busy with the filming and Ming Xin never brought up adding her as a friend, she completely forgot about creating a new account.
Now, looking at Ming Xin’s slightly expectant expression and almost direct words, she pretended not to notice and changed the subject. “Where’s your assistant? Why isn’t she with you?”
“My assistant?” Ming Xin hid her disappointment and said, “I don’t know. When I’m not filming, I usually let her rest on her own.”
Gu Yu nodded and said nothing else.
The surveillance footage was quickly restored, but disappointingly, the person who did it was completely covered from head to toe. You couldn’t see their face at all. Their clothes were a very common black style with no patterns, the kind that would disappear into a crowd.
In the restored surveillance footage, you could clearly see the person first turning their head to look left and right. After making sure no one was there, they took a wrapped cloth from their coat pocket.
The person laid the cloth flat in their palm and opened it. Inside were dozens of glass shards. The shards were sharp, and the broken edges reflected a cold white light under the ceiling lights. The sight of it made one’s skin hurt.
Liu Yanxi stared at the restored footage. Her face was very grim. The small screening room was crowded with many people, including the police officer in charge of the case and her own assistant.
Gu Yu, as the person involved, stood to the side, next to her was Song Xinran, who had rushed over as soon as she heard that the surveillance footage was restored.
The two stood behind Liu Yanxi. The space was limited, so they inevitably had some physical contact. The skin of the person next to her was cool and felt especially comfortable in the summer. The people around them occasionally raised their hands and jostled, causing their bodies to move slightly. Their arms touched for less than a second, then separated. The brief, almost-there contact was the most tantalizing.
At first, Song Xinran felt a little uncomfortable and didn’t dare to look in Gu Yu’s direction.
But after seeing the footage, she couldn’t spare her attention anymore. She stared at the face in the footage, and her fingers, resting on the back of the chair, tightened. The leather chair was left with small wrinkles.
She asked the police officer next to her, “Can you find out who this person is?”
The police officer shook his head with some difficulty. “It’s very difficult. This person is clearly an expert. They were also wearing gloves. On the surveillance footage, we can’t see their face, and we can’t get fingerprints. It won’t be easy to find this person.”
“What we can do now is increase security to prevent this from happening again. Of course, you can rest assured that we will continue to investigate this matter.”
Although she was angry about the result, the current situation was truly helpless.
The surveillance footage was paused. The image was on the person picking up glass shards from the cloth. Since no effective information could be obtained for the time being, the person showing the footage stood up to turn it off.
In the last second before the image disappeared, Gu Yu glanced at it. She vaguely saw something black on the cloth, like a blurry letter.
But because the room where the props were stored was too messy, the position of the cloth in the image just so happened to overlap with a black ink bucket piled in the corner. It looked more like a stain or a smudge caused by blurry eyes.
Song Xinran, after thinking about it, still felt that the potential danger of the unknown person was too great. So, that noon, she told her sister, the president of Xingchen Entertainment, about it.
Her sister was still on a business trip abroad. When she heard about it, she immediately expressed great concern. Not to mention that she was the biggest investor in this film, but for her aunt Liu Yanxi’s safety, she had to strengthen the crew’s security.
She comforted her on the phone, “Ranran, don’t worry. I’ll have my most trusted subordinate handle this. That person just happens to be in the country. I’ll have her go to the film set this afternoon.”
Song Xinran’s heart settled a little. She said to her sister on the other end of the phone, “Mmm, okay. You, too. Don’t forget to eat because you’re too busy with work.”
The voice on the other end of the phone was tinged with a smile. “Okay. Ranran has become so sensible. She knows to care about her family now.”
A hint of shyness and annoyance appeared in Song Xinran’s eyes. She had always been like this. No matter how arrogant she appeared on the outside, she would always act a little childish in front of her family.
“Don’t talk to me in that tone, as if I’ll never grow up.”
She pursed her lips and was silent for a few seconds. She tried her best to sound indifferent. “How much longer will you be busy abroad? When are you guys coming back? In a while, my birth…”
“President, I’m here to report on today’s schedule.”
“Okay.” Song Xinran heard the person on the other end of the phone respond. Then, she spoke a few more words in English. After about a dozen seconds, she picked up the phone again.
“I was just handling something. What were you saying?”
Song Xinran held the phone and smiled. “Nothing. I have nothing else. You go ahead and get back to work.”
“Mmm, then we’ll talk next time.”
The call was hung up with a “beep.” The call log page disappeared. Song Xinran stared at the record of a little over one minute, and after a moment, she pressed the screen to turn it off as if nothing had happened.
It seemed that this year’s birthday would also be spent alone, just like before.
The person her sister mentioned wouldn’t arrive until the afternoon. It was now lunchtime. The crew would provide lunch boxes, but Song Xinran’s taste was picky. The crew’s lunch boxes were too simple for her.
So she decided to go to a restaurant outside. As she walked, she habitually looked for Gu Yu.
Habit was a terrible thing. When she couldn’t find Gu Yu, she felt a subtle sense of loss.
She remembered what Dr. Shen had said. Could the influence of pheromones on an omega really be that strong?
Before she could sort out her feelings, the next second, she saw Gu Yu walking toward the exit of the film set.
Before her brain could react, her body had already honestly started moving, walking toward her.
She caught up to the figure.
“Gu Yu, where are you going?”
Gu Yu heard her voice and turned her head. “To pick up a cat.”
A hint of surprise flashed in Song Xinran’s eyes. “You have a cat?”
It wasn’t strange for her to ask this. After all, Gu Yu’s presence gave off a “don’t come near me” vibe. She really couldn’t imagine what Gu Yu would look like with a cat.
Gu Yu explained, “I found it. I’m going to the vet clinic to pick it up now.”
The vet clinic had called her last night to say that she could come and get the cat.
Gu Yu had originally thought about how she was on set now and had talked to the doctor to see if she could board the cat there for a while longer and had said that she would pay the corresponding fees.
But the doctor said it was difficult because for some unknown reason, there was a high incidence of pet flu recently, and the clinic was running out of space. Besides, keeping the cat there might also cause it to catch the flu.
Gu Yu had no choice but to take a leave of absence for lunch today to go to the vet clinic.
Song Xinran was a little interested when she heard this. She said, “I’ll go with you.”
She also wanted to see what the little cat Gu Yu found looked like. She was going out anyway, and the vet clinic was only about half an hour away from the film set.
So, the trip to the vet clinic went from one person to two.
The vet clinic was in a good location. There were all kinds of shops around it, which was convenient, but the downside was that it was a bit noisy.
Song Xinran didn’t like noisy environments with too many sounds. So she quickened her pace. As she was about to step into the vet clinic’s front door, a fair hand, as white as jade, suddenly appeared in front of her. It brushed past the side of her face, picking up a small strand of hair, and reached forward. A white mask was hanging on her pinky finger.
Song Xinran was stunned. She subconsciously turned her head to look at the owner of the hand.
The alpha was against the light, and her features were a little blurry. Her face was inherently cold, but at this moment, it gave off a warm illusion.
“Miss Song, just in case, wear a mask.”
