The Anti-Alpha Protagonist is Exceptionally Biased Towards Me (GL) - Chapter 2
After the party ended, a few of the maids in the villa came out to clean up the mess in the main hall.
Song Xinran had a bit to drink. When she stood up, she felt slightly dizzy. The omega’s estrus period was not pleasant, especially for Song Xinran, who had to endure several times the pain. Even after injecting an inhibitor, her gland still throbbed and ached intensely.
The heat within her body grew stronger, and the effect of the inhibitor was slowly wearing off.
The staff and maids in the villa were all betas, so they couldn’t smell the faint pheromones that were subtly leaking into the air. One of them saw Song Xinran holding her forehead, assuming she was just drunk, and immediately went to help her.
Song Xinran twisted her wrist and shook her head in refusal. “It’s alright, Aunt Jiang. I can stand on my own.”
The person called Aunt Jiang had to withdraw her hand, her eyes filled with concern. “Young Miss, please be careful then. I’ll make some hangover soup and bring it to your room later.”
Song Xinran had no intention of mentioning that she was going back to her room to inject another inhibitor. Hearing the offer, she simply nodded casually, said “okay,” and then turned to walk upstairs.
The omega’s steps up the stairs were slow. Her beautiful long hair fell to her waist, covering the gland on the back of her neck. The hem of her skirt swayed gently. Even though she was physically uncomfortable, her posture was impeccable, but perhaps because the lighting was too bright, her exposed skin looked even paler.
Aunt Jiang watched the figure disappear around the corner and let out a soft sigh in her heart.
She had worked for the Song family for over ten years and was one of the first maids. She had practically watched Song Xinran grow up. The Young Miss had always been this way, so strong-willed. She wondered who she took after.
Speaking of which, the Young Miss’s birthday was coming up soon. She wondered what the plans would be this year and if the two ladies and the elder sister would be able to come back.
In the silent hallway, the motion-sensor lights turned on one by one with each footstep. The Song family villa was vast, but for Song Xinran, it felt far too empty.
Back in her room, a thin layer of sweat had already formed on her back. Pheromones were faintly seeping out, and the air carried a sweet, wine-like fragrance.
The inhibitors were kept in her bedside cabinet, and there weren’t many left.
Song Xinran picked up one of the vials and, without changing her expression, jabbed it into her arm. The pure, azure liquid was slowly injected into her body.
The heat within her gradually receded, leaving only a soreness in her gland. Song Xinran didn’t pay it any mind and simply looked at the remaining inhibitors in the cabinet.
She thought to herself that the inhibitors were almost gone, so it seemed she would have to go see Dr. Shen again soon.
Her phone was on the bedside table. She picked it up, and after unlocking the screen, she saw a few new messages from friends. One of the contacts, nicknamed “Yu,” had sent her several messages.
Song Xinran tried to recall who this person was, but couldn’t place a face. The slight buzz from the alcohol made her thoughts sluggish. She clicked into the chat and scrolled up, only to find that they had added each other as friends at 5 PM the day before, and it was now early in the morning of the next day.
She finally vaguely remembered that this person had indeed sent her a friend request yesterday. As a member of the Song family, her contact information was private. At the time, she thought it was someone she knew and accepted the request on a whim.
But now, Song Xinran rested her hand on the side of her forehead. A few unruly strands of hair fell forward, obscuring a small part of her face. Using this posture, she read the few messages from this “Yu.”
First, a simple, standard greeting.
She had been downstairs at the time, so she naturally didn’t reply. After about an hour, the other person sent a few more messages.
[Good evening. I’m Yu. Can I get to know you, big sister?]
[I saw your profile picture. Big sister, do you like small animals?]
[Are you busy? I haven’t seen you reply~]
[Well then, I’ll wait for you slowly.]
[Goodnight.]
How strange, really strange. This person didn’t seem to know her.
Looking at these inexplicable messages, Song Xinran felt a faint sense of aversion. She didn’t know who this person was. With a slight movement of her fingertip, she was about to delete the contact when there was a soft knock on her door.
“Young Miss, I’ve brought the hangover soup.” It was Aunt Jiang’s voice.
A heavy rainstorm had fallen last night, but it stopped as abruptly as it began. The morning sunlight poured down, promising a beautiful day.
Gu Yu had stayed up very late cleaning, so she felt physically and mentally exhausted, but due to her biological clock, which had been set for over a decade, she still woke up at seven in the morning.
Her phone, which was placed nearby, rang. The contact was labeled “Sister Li.”
Gu Yu stared at the name for a few seconds, then swiped to answer.
“The shoot is at ten this morning. Have you left yet?”
“Don’t be willful this time. That’s a film by Director Liu Yanxi. Do you know how much effort I put in just to get you this role?”
“I know you think the part is too small, but there’s nothing we can do. Your rank is what it is. What else can you ask for? Don’t think about becoming an overnight sensation. Let’s start from the ground up, okay?”
“I’m only being this candid with you because you’re my niece. No one else would care this much about you. Otherwise, with your attitude, you’d have been blacklisted long ago.”
“Alright, I don’t want to talk too much. Xiao Meng is still here for a magazine cover shoot. You head to the set early. That’s all, I’m hanging up now.”
Clearly, this Sister Li was a woman of action. After a rapid-fire series of statements, she didn’t wait for Gu Yu to reply and hung up the phone directly.
“…”
“Acting?” Hearing the familiar word, Gu Yu’s delicate and elegant brows furrowed. She belatedly remembered that she was also an actress in this world.
Even though she was an unknown, eighteenth-tier actress, she still had some cannon fodder roles in films and TV shows to play.
She rubbed her forehead. “I can’t believe I’ve switched worlds, but I’m still doing the same job.” It seemed she had quite a connection with the entertainment industry.
087 had used a lot of energy for the transmigration and had temporarily entered a dormant state to conserve power. It would not appear unless necessary. Facing the upcoming plot development, Gu Yu could only take things one step at a time. The top priority was to get to the film set.
Recalling the shooting location and time from her memory, she decided not to wear any makeup, considering the specific look she would need for the set. She simply changed into a white top and loose jeans. Following the habits of her previous life, she also grabbed a gray baseball cap and put it on. Her raven-black hair flowed smoothly behind her shoulders, extending from the back brim of the hat.
The hat’s brim hid most of her cool features, revealing only a pale chin and rosy lips.
On her way to the set, she sat in the back of the taxi and suddenly remembered something, tapping into the chat interface.
There were still many new messages.
[Big sister, why haven’t you replied? Are you still sleeping? Did you work overtime very late last night?]
[Baby, a new day. I still love you.]
[The sun is up, the sun is up! Hmph, you lazy alpha, wake up! Go buy breakfast quickly so you have the energy to paint [Transfer]]
…
Gu Yu temporarily didn’t reply to these messages or the ones from last night. She hadn’t figured out how to handle these relationships yet.
From her memory, she knew that the original character used various fake identities online to scam money, ranging from a few hundred to tens of thousands, clearly a scumbag alpha who played with people’s feelings.
Gu Yu wasn’t the original character and had no intention of continuing to deceive people. The relationships would definitely have to be cut off, but she had to pay the money back first. The problem was… Gu Yu had no money.
The mere thousand yuan balance on her phone was all the savings she had. Gu Yu propped her elbow on the car window sill, resting her head in her hand.
“What’s wrong? Not feeling well?” The taxi driver saw her actions in the rearview mirror and asked with concern, slowing the car down a bit.
Gu Yu put her hand down and replied, “I’m fine.”
She was just… feeling a bit of a headache.
After all, she hadn’t been this poor since she was first starting out in her previous life.
Logically, as someone in the entertainment industry, even without fame, the original character shouldn’t have been this poor. But the truth was, the original character spent money recklessly. Because of her vanity, she often bought branded shoes and bags, and even with the money she scammed, it was never enough.
What’s more, a few days ago she had spent a huge amount of money to buy Song Xinran’s contact information from a certain source, which had practically used up all her savings.
Thinking of this, Gu Yu’s eyes flickered. She subconsciously picked up her phone and scrolled down. The person with the note “Song Xinran” still hadn’t replied.
Gu Yu hesitated, unsure if she had been deleted.
Song Xinran’s status was high and she was difficult for ordinary people to get in touch with. Her mission was related to her. If she was deleted, the mission would be very difficult to carry out.
She didn’t have much time to think. She quickly arrived at her destination.
After getting out of the car, Gu Yu found that the film set was much larger than she had imagined. The people walking around were all in ancient costumes, looking elegant and ethereal, giving her the illusion that she had traveled through time.
Director Liu Yanxi was well-known in the industry. Any work she was in charge of was guaranteed to be of high quality, so she had a high reputation with the public.
This time, the news of her taking over a large-scale fantasy xianxia series adapted from a famous novel had attracted the attention of countless people in the industry.
Regardless of the investment, just the director’s name alone made people vie for even the smallest supporting roles. No wonder Sister Li was afraid she would mess up and called specifically to remind her.
Frankly, the original character was unknown in the entertainment industry. The dressing room was shared with many extras. The shoot hadn’t officially started yet, but the dressing room was already crowded with people, young and old, but mostly betas at a glance.
Perhaps because of this, when Gu Yu walked in, she was openly and subtly scrutinized by many.
“Who is that? Did a celebrity come to the wrong place?”
“She’s so tall. She must be an alpha, but her hair is covering the back of her neck.”
“She has a great aura.”
An extra came forward and kindly asked if she had come to the wrong dressing room.
Gu Yu extended her fair, slender hand and slightly lifted the brim of her cap, revealing her beautiful eyes. The black beauty mark was like a drop of ink. She replied politely, “Thank you, but I’m in the right place.”
Unbeknownst to her, her voice had a naturally detached quality, and with the lack of expression on her face, it was easily misinterpreted as impatience.
The person who had just spoken to her stammered, “Oh, I see. My apologies.” She then left, looking a bit stiff.
The makeup artist must have gone somewhere for a moment and wasn’t here. The extras, bored, gathered in groups to chat.
“Why is there such a big setup on the set today? I’ve seen the production assistants running around so many times.”
“I heard that the biggest investor is coming.”
“Xingchen Entertainment? Isn’t that the Song family’s company? We might even get to see someone from the Song family.”
“The Song family? The one I’m thinking of?”
No one noticed that in a corner not far away, Gu Yu’s eyes quietly rose upon hearing the words “the Song family.”
