The Anti-Alpha Protagonist is Exceptionally Biased Towards Me (GL) - Chapter 24
Ming Xin’s reason for saying that Zuo Jia needed to see them wasn’t just a random excuse.
By the equipment room, a figure in a long, loose, grayish-brown top was standing with her back to the door. Her medium-length hair was tied in a low ponytail, resting on her shoulders. Her back was slightly hunched, and she looked very inconspicuous.
It was clearly Zuo Jia, waiting for them.
“Screenwriter Zuo, Gu Yu and I are here. What did you need us for?” Ming Xin’s voice suddenly rang out from behind.
In such a quiet space, a sudden voice was startling, especially one that came from behind you. Zuo Jia was startled and her body shook uncontrollably.
“Oh, sorry. I scared you.” Seeing her reaction, Ming Xin blinked and said apologetically.
Screenwriter Zuo Jia had always been a quiet presence on the set. She had been on the crew for almost half a month, and had barely interacted with her. She had almost forgotten that Zuo Jia was a timid and reserved person.
Zuo Jia shook her head. Her long bangs covered her eyes. Perhaps because she was currently looking at the script, she was wearing a pair of narrow, square-framed glasses that made her look even more dull.
Hearing Ming Xin’s apology, she stammered, “I-it’s okay. It’s not your fault. I was just too engrossed in my thoughts.”
She stood there awkwardly, looking like a person who was easy to talk to and easy to bully.
And where no one was looking, she quietly glanced in Ming Xin’s direction. Seeing that Gu Yu wasn’t looking at her, she didn’t know whether to feel relieved or disappointed.
For some reason, she was always very conscious of the alpha’s gaze.
“There’s… there’s a scene that might need a slight adjustment,” she said briefly, then pursed her lips and fell silent again.
“Mhm, which one?” This time, Ming Xin subconsciously lowered her voice a little.
Seeing Ming Xin and Gu Yu walking toward her, Zuo Jia’s heart tightened. This was the nervousness of someone who didn’t interact with people often. She pointed at the script and said, “Gu Yu’s wire scene will be moved back. We’ll film other scenes first.”
Since Path of Immortals was a fantasy show, there were a lot of fight and wire scenes. They had used wires on the previous set, but those were all filmed indoors with special effects.
The scene she was referring to was when Fu Qian, played by Gu Yu, was at her most confident. At the time, Fu Qian was a sword prodigy, obsessed with swordsmanship and slaying demons.
This wire scene was a sword dance in the mountains. Liu Yanxi had always been dedicated to meticulous detail and visual presentation. To better create the character’s atmosphere, the crew had decided to use real scenery with post-production special effects.
But due to some special reasons, this scene might have to be postponed.
Zuo Jia wasn’t good with words. Facing the two pairs of eyes looking at her, she moved her lips for a long time but couldn’t say anything.
Fortunately, at that moment, another voice came from the door. It was Liu Yanxi. She was also holding a paper script and walked in briskly.
As the director of this show, she clearly knew about the changes to the schedule.
She said, “Last night’s heavy rain was too much. Although it’s sunny today, the ground is still quite damp and loose. In this situation, the equipment is hard to set up, and high-altitude wire work isn’t very safe.”
“The next few days will also be sunny. It will be safer to film it then. For now, let’s film Gu Yu and Ming Xin’s scene. What do you think?”
A scene together…
In the early stages, when Fu Qian was still a sword prodigy, she had a lot of scenes with the demon cult holy maiden, played by Ming Xin. The two were like sworn enemies, trying to kill each other every time they met. But if you ignored their respective identities, the two were like soulmates.
Fu Qian was firm in her convictions and not influenced by the outside world, while the demon cult holy maiden did as she pleased and never cared what others thought of her. In a way, the two were very similar.
Gu Yu and Ming Xin, of course, had no objections to Liu Yanxi’s suggestion. As the director, Liu Yanxi would always know more than them about these things.
After a brief discussion, the few of them didn’t waste too much time there.
As they left, Gu Yu’s eyes briefly landed on Zuo Jia.
She hadn’t interacted much with Screenwriter Zuo, but she felt that compared to the last time, Zuo Jia seemed even more afraid of interacting with people and more withdrawn, as if the dust that was already covering a pearl had grown another thick layer.

The fifth floor of the hotel had an expansive view and was the best place for sightseeing.
The one-way transparent glass on the outside of the corridor faced the distant mountains. As a chosen filming location, the scenery here was undoubtedly beautiful. Unlike last night’s storm, the sunlight was now slanted, giving a feeling of leisure and tranquility.
But Song Xinran, who was standing there, didn’t feel that way at all. She was completely annoyed, and people kept trying to talk to her.
“Miss Song, I didn’t expect you to come here with the crew.”
“Miss Song, are you also staying on this floor?”
“Miss Song, isn’t the scenery here quite beautiful?”
“Miss Song, it’s been a while. Do you still remember me?”
One “Miss Song” after another was incredibly annoying. The person who was trying to talk to her was an alpha. She didn’t plan to talk to them, but the person was completely oblivious.
When she heard the last question, Song Xinran finally deigned to give him a look. She looked at the person who had been babbling on and on. He looked familiar, but she didn’t know him. She lifted her chin slightly and said in a cold voice, “I don’t know who you are, but you’re very noisy. Stay away from me.”
It was morning. She was wearing full makeup. The orange-toned eyeshadow already gave her a regal, unapproachable air. Combined with her winged eyeliner, she gave off a sense of disdain when she looked at people.
The person who had been talking froze. He had asked the question to try and get closer, but in all the scenarios he had imagined, he never thought that Song Xinran would have no impression of him at all.
But he quickly adjusted his expression and put on a polite smile again. “My apologies for not introducing myself. Miss Song, I’m Lu Feng, the male lead of the Path of Immortals crew. We’ve met a few times on set.”
Thinking of this, he felt a lot of regret. He had joined the crew early and had finished filming his scenes at the previous location not long after. He had then been a guest on a variety show for a few episodes and hadn’t returned to the set until this time, when they changed locations and he had more scenes to film.
It was also at this time that he learned that in the time he was gone, Song Xinran would occasionally visit the set. And he had perfectly missed that opportunity.
That was Song Xinran! The only omega of the top-tier, wealthy Song family in the capital. If he could win Song Xinran’s heart, he wouldn’t have to worry about the rest of his life. What could he not get? Fame and fortune?
Thinking of this, a hint of greed and ambition, which didn’t match his appearance, flashed in his eyes.
Song Xinran listened to his introduction, remembered something, and slowly curved her lips. “So it’s you. I remember now.”
Lu Feng’s expression brightened. He thought smugly that Song Xinran did have an impression of him. He thought he was good-looking and had just recently won the Best Actor award. Song Xinran should have at least heard of him, not to mention the fact that they had met before.
But then he heard her continue. “You’re the one who got a small scratch on your face on set and insisted on going to the hospital, which delayed the crew’s progress for a day.”
Lu Feng’s face changed, and a hint of awkwardness flashed in his eyes.
And after Song Xinran remembered who he was, her disgust grew stronger. She did have an impression of this person. At the time, she had seen on her aunt’s social media that someone on the set was injured and had delayed filming. She had mistakenly thought it was Gu Yu, but when she rushed to the set, she found out it wasn’t.
That person had a small scratch on his face and wanted the whole crew to fuss over him, as if he were the center of the universe.
And Gu Yu, Gu Yu had so many cuts on her wrist, but not a single person went up to ask her about it…
Just thinking about this, she felt a strange, inexplicable frustration. Remembering the scene of the alpha standing alone on the sidelines that day, she felt both bitter and tight inside.
But at this moment, she still didn’t know that this feeling was called heartache. She just felt that the person in front of her was becoming more and more of an eyesore.
“I…” Even a person like Lu Feng didn’t know how to respond to Song Xinran’s words.
But Song Xinran didn’t care about his answer. She turned her eyes away, returning her gaze to the scenery outside.
“Stay away from me. I don’t want to say it a third time. You know my name, so you should also know that I hate alphas being close to me.”
Lu Feng’s expression was complicated. After hearing this, he subconsciously said, “Then Gu Yu…”
But he had clearly seen Gu Yu and Song Xinran sitting together yesterday, and Song Xinran hadn’t shown any disgust. It was because of this that he had dared to approach her this time.
Just three words left his mouth before he realized his mistake and swallowed the rest. But Song Xinran had already heard him.
She blurted out, “How can she be the same?”
When she said this, both of them were stunned.
Song Xinran’s eyes were filled with confusion. That’s right, Gu Yu is also an alpha. Why isn’t she the same?
She couldn’t figure it out. Because the next second, two people walked side by side from the other end of the corridor.
The alpha on the left, in casual clothes, was looking down and talking to the omega in the pink dress beside her. She was already taller than the other person. As she lowered her head slightly, mixed with the warm light of the sun, her cold face actually showed a hint of doting.
—At least, that’s how it looked from Song Xinran’s perspective.
Heh, they looked so good together.
She remembered the rumors she had heard this morning.
••••
On this side, Gu Yu also saw the two people. As her gaze passed over Lu Feng, she frowned almost imperceptibly.
Lu Feng had impure intentions. Gu Yu didn’t want Song Xinran to have too much contact with this person, so she wouldn’t be fooled.
A hint of worry was added to her heart. She called out, “What a coincidence, Miss Song.”
Almost the moment she called out, Song Xinran gave her a cold look. She lightly pushed herself up from the handrail of the corridor’s glass wall, stood up straight, turned around, and walked away.
The ends of her slightly curly flaxen hair lifted in the air. She walked away quickly and cleanly.
She didn’t respond to her at all.
Gu Yu looked at her back, feeling confused. Why does it feel like Miss Song is mad at me?
Is it because of the hug last night?
But… Miss Song was the one who hugged me. She pursed her lips slightly, feeling a little sullen.
Ming Xin, on the other hand, heard her voice stop. She asked in confusion, “Why did you stop talking? Where were we in our script discussion?”
Gu Yu didn’t see Song Xinran again until the afternoon filming. But Lu Feng, who had joined the crew again after several days, kept looking at her with a very complex gaze. If she had to describe it, it was probably resentment and wariness?
“Cut! That’s good. Actors, stay put. Switch cameras and get another angle. Let’s do another take!”
After the reshoot, the assistant, Yang Ru, quickly handed her water and a small fan. The temperature was high in the summer, and the crew’s costumes, no matter how thin the fabric was, had several layers. It was uncomfortable sticking to her body. The small fan helped relieve some of the heat.
Gu Yu had good posture and was tall. The heavy immortal robe didn’t look cumbersome on her. Her hair was tied up with a single wooden hairpin. With a sword in her hand, she stood there, truly looking like an immortal.
Yang Ru watched Gu Yu take a sip of water and said excitedly, “Teacher Gu, you’re so good at acting!”
This was her first time seeing Gu Yu act. When she first saw Gu Yu, it was in the candid photo taken on the bus. At the time, she was amazed and even started a fan group with a few friends.
Later, she applied for a job as a celebrity assistant and was pleasantly surprised to find that her employer was Gu Yu. When she found this out, she couldn’t help but feel that it was fate.
Gu Yu was so good-looking and such a good actress, so why wasn’t she famous? Yang Ru just couldn’t figure it out.
••••
On the other side, Ming Xin had just finished drinking her water and wiped the sweat off her neck. She then ran over to Gu Yu with her small fan.
She looked at Gu Yu and said, “We’re both wearing such thick clothes, so why aren’t you sweating as much as I am?”
Gu Yu simply replied, “It’s just my body type.”
“I’m so jealous.” Ming Xin put her hand on her hip. The gesture looked very cute on her. “Why don’t I have that body type?! No, I have to take a good look and see what the difference is.”
After she said that, she eagerly reached out, seemingly wanting to touch the skin on Gu Yu’s neck.
The action looked too intimate. Gu Yu’s brows subtly furrowed. She instinctively stepped back, and Ming Xin’s hand fell through the air, awkwardly hanging there.
The air seemed to stop flowing and froze. Yang Ru, who was standing to the side, didn’t even dare to breathe. Gu Yu’s expression was a little cold as she looked at Ming Xin’s hand.
After about two seconds, Ming Xin seemed to have just realized what happened. Her index finger trembled, and she pulled her hand back. A forced smile appeared on her lips. “I’m sorry, Gu Yu. I almost forgot that you don’t like being too close to people.”
Gu Yu “mm-hmm’d,” perhaps also sensing the awkward atmosphere. She uncharacteristically gave an explanation.
“After all… AOs shouldn’t get too close.”
