The Anti-Alpha Protagonist is Exceptionally Biased Towards Me (GL) - Chapter 8
It took about two days for Gu Yu to sell some of the original owner’s brand-name items through online channels. She calculated the money she had made from the transactions and added it to her previous payment from the film crew. She now had a general idea of her financial situation.
“I can take care of some of the mess first.”
She opened her contact list and began tallying up how much money she had to repay.
The original owner had flirted with nearly fifty people. A few who had just been added to the list were fine, with amounts adding up to only a few hundred or a thousand yuan each. However, some of the rich women who had been chatting for a while and were very generous were a different story. The money they had transferred to the original owner added up to a conservative estimate of five hundred to six hundred thousand yuan.
In particular, three people on the list, although they didn’t chat much with the original owner, transferred money in a very clean and generous way, casually giving tens or even hundreds of thousands of yuan at a time. It was clear that these were people who were never short on money.
Adding it all up, the original owner had scammed as much as five million yuan, and the money Gu Yu had on hand was nowhere near enough.
Gu Yu: “…” Even as calm as she was, she couldn’t help but close her eyes, wanting to pretend she hadn’t seen anything.
After a few seconds, she composed herself and reopened her eyes. She clicked into the chat pages. She hadn’t replied to anyone’s messages for several days. She remembered that when she first opened the list, the unread messages had added up to four or five hundred, which was shocking.
Now, she clicked into each chat one by one and transferred money back to them.
She paid back the small amounts in full and a portion of the larger ones.
But almost every time she sent a transfer, the other person would immediately reply.
[You don’t talk to me for days, and now when you finally show up, you send a transfer. What’s the meaning of this?]
[Big sister, why are you transferring money to me? I don’t want it. I just want to know where you’ve been all these days and why you’re not replying to my messages?]
[Xiao Yu’er, you’ve finally decided to talk to me. Do you know how angry and worried I’ve been all these days? I thought something happened to you. I couldn’t even sleep well.]
[You dead scumbag alpha, so you do know how to reply to me. Where the hell have you been all this time?! And what’s with the transfer? I’m mad. I don’t want your money.]
Gu Yu’s lips were pressed into a thin line. A hint of guilt, an emotion she rarely showed, appeared on her face. She wasn’t the original owner, and these things weren’t her doing, but these people were indeed victims.
The act of deception shouldn’t be allowed to continue.
So, after careful consideration, she typed out a message, first admitting to the deception and then apologizing for it.
The chat groups immediately exploded with messages. After a barrage of angry text, many of the original owner’s hookups took the money and immediately deleted her as a friend.
Out of over fifty people, about twenty remained. The amounts involved were large, and she didn’t have the ability to pay it all back at once.
But regardless, a small part of the problem had been solved. Before Gu Yu could even catch her breath, there was a knock on her door.
When she opened it, she saw Sister Li’s familiar face.
Gu Yu: “…”
Li Ruqin clearly knew where she lived and had been here several times before. After Gu Yu opened the door, she walked in expertly. After looking around the apartment, she said, “It’s rare to see you have the place cleaned up. Before, it was a mess, and I had to help you tidy up.”
Gu Yu didn’t say anything, feeling a bit tired. She leaned her left shoulder lightly against the doorframe. Her loose casual clothes had a great drape, and even without high heels, she looked tall and straight. When she quietly stared at Li Ruqin like this, she surprisingly gave her a subtle sense of pressure.
Li Ruqin felt a little uncomfortable under her gaze and let her eyes wander.
Gu Yu finally spoke. “Is something wrong?”
She had thought Li Ruqin was here to continue persuading her to choose a script, but she was surprised by what the other person said. “Oh, right. I came to tell you that I’ve followed your advice and turned down all the other scripts.”
She didn’t notice Gu Yu’s slightly stunned expression and continued. “Now you just need to focus on preparing for Director Liu’s project.”
Gu Yu subconsciously asked, “Director Liu? Which Director Liu?”
Li Ruqin gave her a strange look. “Who else but Director Liu Yanxi?”
Gu Yu’s brows furrowed slightly. “Wasn’t that show already finished filming?”
Li Ruqin was surprised. “Director Liu added more scenes for you. Didn’t you know?”
Gu Yu was silent. She really didn’t.
Sister Li’s voice was filled with joy. “I thought you knew. Someone from the crew called me last night and said that the original author and the director revised the script together to increase the scenes for your character. This is huge news.”
“I don’t care why you turned down those other opportunities before, but you have to seriously consider this one. So many people want to get into Director Liu’s show.”
“And I heard that someone from the Song family visited the set a few days ago. They’re Xingchen Entertainment’s biggest shareholder. Who knows, maybe they’ll visit again. If you make a good impression, your career will be a lot smoother in the future.”
Hearing the words “the Song family,” Gu Yu’s words of refusal got stuck in her throat.
The Song family…
Song Xinran’s face unexpectedly flashed through her mind. As her mission target, her and Song Xinran’s statuses were too different. It was hard for them to even meet, let alone complete the mission given by the system.
And the film set was the place where she was most likely to run into Song Xinran.
At the same time, at the Song residence, Song Xinran listened to the person on the phone report and frowned unhappily. “You’re saying she didn’t take a single script?”
The person on the other end of the line said, “Yes, Young Miss. She rejected all of them.”
Hearing this, for some reason, an indescribable frustration welled up in Song Xinran’s heart. She attributed it to her being dissatisfied with being rejected.
Then, the person on the other end changed the subject. “However, she seems to be re-entering Director Liu’s crew. I heard they’re adding more scenes for her.”
“Adding scenes…” Song Xinran rested her chin on her hand, her phoenix eyes half-closed as if she were thinking about something. After a moment, the corners of her lips curled up. “Good, I understand. Tell me the exact timing.”
After hanging up, she put down her phone and looked toward the door. In the entryway, a pure azure sun umbrella sat quietly on the table. Under the warm yellow light of the room, its usually cool hue looked surprisingly soft.
Song Xinran stared at the umbrella for a few seconds before she said:
“I just want to return an umbrella.”
