The Anti-Alpha Protagonist is Exceptionally Biased Towards Me (GL) - Chapter 9
The crew was moving quickly. In less than two days, Gu Yu had to pack up and join the team. According to Li Ruqin, her role had a lot of added scenes, which was a great opportunity to get into the public eye.
Li Ruqin visibly took the matter very seriously and even applied to the company to borrow a minivan.
She lovingly stroked the leather backrest and steering wheel and said to Gu Yu in the back seat, “One has to be ambitious. When you make it big in the entertainment industry, you won’t need to borrow a minivan. You can just buy one with a wave of your hand. How cool would that be! Right?”
Gu Yu looked at the very ordinary interior of the car, thinking back to the luxury cars that almost filled her garage and the personal team of hundreds in her previous life. She said nothing.
Li Ruqin didn’t mind. For a while now, her cousin had seemed like a different person. She spoke little, but she was much more well-behaved and didn’t cause her trouble like she used to.
But speaking of that, she looked back again. “Lately, I haven’t seen you holding your phone all day and chatting with people like you used to.”
“What, you finally decided to focus on real life?”
Hearing this, Gu Yu’s eyes moved slightly, and she looked at Li Ruqin’s expression. It was normal. She didn’t seem to have noticed anything unusual.
It seemed that the other person had no idea that the original character had been scamming people online. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be so calm.
The filming location for Path of Immortals was not a secret. Today, a lot of fans were gathered at the crew’s entrance. When a relatively famous celebrity joins a crew, fans usually go to the entrance a day or two in advance. One, to see their idol, and two, to show support for their favorite celebrity. To stand out, they would also decorate the area and prepare support items.
This was not an unfamiliar sight to Gu Yu. After all, in her previous life, she was quite famous, and this was a regular occurrence. However, in this life, she was just an unknown small actress, so these fans were not here for her, of course.
She remembered that when she came here a few days ago, this wasn’t the case. Now, judging by the situation, other actors with a certain level of fame were likely joining the crew in the next few days.
The car drove through the crowd and entered. After she got out, a girl in a blue vest immediately came up to greet her with light steps. “Hello, Ms. Gu. I’m Director Liu’s assistant. Director Liu asked me to pick you up and show you around the set. Please follow me.”
Gu Yu didn’t have an assistant and had to do everything on her own for now. Li Ruqin had other artists’ schedules to follow up on and couldn’t stay with Gu Yu.
As she was leaving, Li Ruqin had originally wanted to remind Gu Yu to behave herself on set and not cause any trouble. But when she looked up, the other person had already followed the assistant, not even looking back. The small figure of Li Ruqin in her heart wiped a bitter tear. “That heartless little thing.”
The set of Path of Immortals was huge. Gu Yu’s treatment here was already completely different from the last time. Along the way, the assistant meticulously introduced her to the crew.
“Ms. Gu, I’ll show you around the set first. The new script that Director Liu revised is being organized. I’ll send you a digital copy this afternoon.”
The assistant was a beta with a bit of a baby face and a likable smile. “I heard that Director Liu added a lot of scenes for you. The actor you’ll be performing with will join the crew tomorrow, and you’ll get to meet her then.”
“Okay, thank you for your trouble.” Gu Yu nodded. She was tall, and when she looked down, she seemed a little distant. Although she spoke very little, when she did, her eyes were very focused and serious, giving people a sense of being respected.
The assistant had been a little nervous at first, but noticing this small detail, her nervousness unknowingly faded and was replaced by her liking for Gu Yu growing.
She had originally thought that Gu Yu would be difficult to get along with, but after interacting with her, she found that Ms. Gu was actually quite nice.
Her smile became even brighter and more sincere.
Just as she was leading the way, the assistant’s phone rang. It was probably work-related. She gave Gu Yu a apologetic look and walked a few steps away to answer the call.
In the ten or so seconds she was on the phone, Gu Yu suddenly felt a scrutinizing gaze on her.
Looking up, she saw a person to her right watching her. The person was wearing a loose brown short-sleeved shirt, with long hair and bangs that covered her entire forehead and most of her eyes. Perhaps because of her hairstyle, she looked drab and listless, like a gloomy little mushroom.
I don’t know her. Gu Yu came to this conclusion in her mind after two seconds.
A short while later, the assistant finished her call and came over, her face full of apologies. “I’m so sorry, Ms. Gu. There was a small accident on set during filming, and I have to go check on it. I might not be able to continue showing you around the set. How about I find someone else for you now?”
Although she said that, it was a bit difficult for her to immediately find someone else on such short notice.
Gu Yu was about to say that it wasn’t necessary when she saw the other person look around. She must have seen something because her eyes suddenly lit up. She waved and said, “Screenwriter Zuo, Screenwriter Zuo! What a coincidence to see you here! Do you have time now? Could you show Ms. Gu around?”
Zuo Jia clearly hadn’t expected the assistant to say that. Her shoulders trembled slightly. She quietly looked up like a little hamster and glanced in Gu Yu’s direction.
Gu Yu happened to still be looking at her, and their eyes met.
“Boom—” Zuo Jia’s ears, hidden under her hair, turned red. This was her subconscious reaction to making eye contact with a stranger, and it was something she couldn’t control.
The alpha’s eyes were clear and bright, watching her quietly. The way she stood there without saying anything was like the morning dew on a leaf before the sun rose, giving her a cool, clear presence.
Besides the filming clips from the video, this was the first time Zuo Jia had met her in real life.
So beautiful, Zuo Jia thought to herself, pressing her lips together.
The assistant was still looking at her with anticipation. “Screenwriter Zuo, is it convenient for you?”
Zuo Jia’s lower lip was pressed together. She had originally wanted to refuse, but on a whim, she said, “Okay.”
“Thank you so much!” The assistant thanked her and left. Her quick steps showed that she was indeed in a hurry. In a short while, she had completely disappeared from sight.
Neither Gu Yu nor Zuo Jia were very talkative, and an awkward silence filled the air.
After a moment, Gu Yu took the initiative to speak. “Hello.”
Zuo Jia said stiffly, “Hello.”
Then, silence again.
All around them were busy crew members walking back and forth. For the next scene, many people were carrying props.
“Watch out! Please move out of the way if anyone’s up ahead!” Someone behind them shouted loudly. A person was carrying something almost as tall as their head and was walking toward them.
Gu Yu instinctively moved to the side to avoid it. Seeing that Zuo Jia was still standing there, lost in thought, and about to be hit by the crew member, Gu Yu reached out and pulled her.
To be honest, she didn’t use much force, but the other person was unprepared. With the pull, she stumbled forward a few steps, getting closer to Gu Yu.
From the back, it looked as if Gu Yu had pulled her into a hug, which looked very intimate.
At the entrance behind them, the first thing Song Xinran saw when she arrived was this scene. For no reason at all, she felt a little unhappy.
