The Cannon Fodder Alpha Who Transmigrated Into a Book Must Protect the Female Lead (GL) - Chapter 5
The school was not far from the villa area where the Jing family lived.
In the past, it took half an hour by car due to traffic, but now cycling took less than twenty minutes.
“I didn’t expect cycling to be so fast,” Jing Qingxia couldn’t help but exclaim, turning to her companion, “Zhong Mingxue, let’s get off. We can’t ride once we enter the marked zone.”
“Okay,” Zhong Mingxue nodded.
The two pushed their bikes forward.
Since Zhong Mingxue wasn’t talking, Jing Qingxia also didn’t speak.
They walked slowly, keeping a distance of two body lengths between them.
The surrounding air was filled with the noisy chatter of students, making the two girls unusually quiet.
They walked under the dappled shadows of the trees.
Jing Qingxia somewhat enjoyed the peaceful moment. She didn’t have to worry about the female lead making trouble or fret over their relationship. They maintained a safe distance, friendly and serene.
Zhong Mingxue shared a similar sentiment, able to momentarily detach from her real-life problems. Even the presence of the former little tyrant beside her provided a sense of security.
The two walked very slowly, the scenery before them rhythmically alternating between light and shadow.
A gasp of surprise rang out from the roadside not far away: “Boss! What a coincidence!”
Then, a skinny figure was seen leaping out of a parked car by the roadside. She wobbled slightly and then rushed over.
With her petite stature, it was hard to tell she was an already differentiated Alpha.
“Leshan, what a coincidence. This is my friend Yuan Leshan. She lives far away and usually takes a car to school. This is our new classmate, Zhong Mingxue,” Jing Qingxia proactively introduced the two, while glancing at Zhong Mingxue out of the corner of her eye, worried that this might be misinterpreted as an “ambush.”
Zhong Mingxue noticed Jing Qingxia’s cautious attitude. She merely offered Yuan Leshan a gentle greeting.
Yuan Leshan cheerfully pulled Jing Qingxia aside and excitedly whispered: “She really is the ice-mountain beauty that the rumors claimed. Boss, you don’t even know! You two, with your red and blue bikes on the road, were drawing so much attention! So many people on the road thought you two were a perfect match!”
You were sitting in a car; how could you know what people on the street were thinking? I don’t believe you.
“Didn’t I say not to make those kinds of jokes!” Jing Qingxia clamped Yuan Leshan’s jaw shut, forcing her to be silent.
She had clearly given instructions yesterday on WeChat.
Yuan Leshan struggled to break free.
“It’s fine, I spoke softly, no one could hear! I’m going to buy breakfast now! Boss, new classmate, see you later!”
She waved at Zhong Mingxue and then darted away.
Yuan Leshan had always been this flighty, and Jing Qingxia wondered if she had offended the sensitive kitten.
Jing Qingxia observed Zhong Mingxue’s expression, which remained calm.
Following Zhong Mingxue’s line of sight, she explained: “That’s the special food street next to the school. They sell all kinds of breakfast, afternoon tea, snacks, and even late-night meals. There are also many interesting small shops. You can browse if you’re interested.”
“Next time,” Zhong Mingxue replied, withdrawing her gaze.
Oho, next time?
Although she knew this was likely just Zhong Mingxue’s polite talk, Jing Qingxia took it as a staged victory.
“Alright, let’s go. I’ll take you to the homeroom teacher.”
Zhong Mingxue walked ahead.
Jing Qingxia pushed her bike and followed, accurately shortening the distance to a single half-body length.
Wearing civilian clothes, Zhong Mingxue was stopped at the school gate, which was no surprise, by the student on duty.
“Student, you’re not wearing the school uniform! Even if you’re a freshman, the uniform should have been delivered home. This kind of mistake is unacceptable.”
An Alpha boy curved his lips into what he thought was a charming and friendly smile.
If it were just an ordinary moment of duty from the student on surveillance, it would be fine.
But the aggressive aura of the S-rank Alpha pheromones was unmistakable, making Zhong Mingxue frown.
Before she could smell a distinct scent, Zhong Mingxue instinctively shielded herself with her bike.
At the same time, a burst of warm air came from her left, and the Alpha boy in her sight was quickly blocked off at a safe distance by a ponytail-wearing figure.
Jing Qingxia’s reaction, following Zhong Mingxue, was just as fast, if not faster, than an S-rank Omega’s instinct. With one step, she blocked the student on duty from Zhong Mingxue.
“Student, I’m Jing Qingxia from Grade 12, Class 10. This is my student ID. This student is a transfer student in our class, so she doesn’t have a uniform. I’m taking her to the homeroom teacher now. If you’re concerned, you can hold onto my student ID and confirm with our homeroom teacher later,” Jing Qingxia said in a slightly roguish manner, leaning on her bike with one hand, her tone beyond question.
She quickly glanced at the student on duty Alpha’s ID badge.
Grade 12, Class 1, Su Tai, Alpha.
Su Tai?
Jing Qingxia narrowed her eyes.
Isn’t that the name of the secondary male lead!
A very prominent, pathologically obsessed male supporting character, number three!
An S-rank Alpha with a pathological possessiveness and obsession with the female lead.
But logically, he should only start their various sabotage plots after the male lead transfers. Yet, the male lead hasn’t even transferred yet.
Get lost!
Jing Qingxia instinctively refused to deal with the male supporting character who showed up early.
She didn’t give Su Tai any chance to react, throwing her student ID into his hand. She then turned and gave Zhong Mingxue a meaningful look.
Zhong Mingxue quickly understood Jing Qingxia’s intention, and the two figures overlapped as they quickly moved out of Su Tai’s line of sight.
She pressed her lips together and actually perceived the word “reliable” from Jing Qingxia.
Su Tai frowned, looking at Jing Qingxia’s student ID.
Grade 12, Class 10, Jing Qingxia, pre-Alpha.
“Oh, right, I gave you my old student ID. If you don’t want the hassle of coming back to return it, just throw it away,” Jing Qingxia said once they were farther away.
The implied meaning was: Please throw it away. You don’t need to return it to me. I don’t want to see you.
Su Tai let out a meaningful scoff through his nose, watching the ponytail girl lead the scent-emitting girl away.
He had heard rumors during the summer that an S-rank Omega would transfer, but who would have thought she’d have a pre-Alpha by her side.
Veins popped on the back of his hand, embedding the edges of the student ID into his palm, a feeling of discontent building up.
…
After locking their bikes in the parking lot, Zhong Mingxue looked at Jing Qingxia’s new student ID on her chest.
“Eew, what are you looking at?” Jing Qingxia covered her chest, putting on a teased expression, making a harmless joke with Zhong Mingxue.
Zhong Mingxue’s face was unmoved, but the tips of her ears hidden beneath her long hair were slightly red.
What is this person doing?
She asked in a deep voice: “Why were you carrying an old student ID?”
“Don’t worry, don’t worry. These are definitely new school trousers, not unwashed ones from all summer. Of course, it’s not that I have new trousers and won’t lend you any; the old ones are too short for me, and I need to buy another set myself. Otherwise, I would definitely lend you a set,” Jing Qingxia offered a string of irrelevant explanations first.
Zhong Mingxue didn’t speak, still waiting for the answer to her question.
“I brought the old student ID for another friend.”
“And then just casually threw it away?”
“I didn’t just casually throw it away. I suddenly had a flash of inspiration and understood what my friend wanted me to do with the old student ID.”
Zhong Mingxue didn’t understand and unconsciously blinked.
Jing Qingxia noticed this; it was a small movement Zhong Mingxue made when her emotions fluctuated.
She was briefly captivated by the fluttering of the long eyelashes.
But soon, her gaze fell to the area behind Zhong Mingxue, and Jing Qingxia’s expression changed.
Before Zhong Mingxue could notice the change in Jing Qingxia’s expression and turn around, she heard a voice from behind: “Hey! Sister Xia, did you bring the student ID I asked for?”
Jing Qingxia sneered: “I did bring it, but I just threw it away.”
“Ah! Threw it away? Where did you throw it!!! I promised a freshman girl I’d bring it to her!”
“I knew it!!! You’re selling me out and you still have the nerve to mention it?” Jing Qingxia fixed her bike, dashed over, and delivered a flying kick that looked as natural as muscle memory.
Duan Yajie was scared and scrambled away, clutching her head: “Sister Xia, I haven’t seen you all summer, and your martial arts have improved! I’m sorry, I’m sorry, but look, my medical report is B-rank Alpha. If I want to date, don’t I need to network a bit?”
“You’re B-rank, and I’m C-rank. Did you consider my feelings?”
“That’s different. Who are you? My sister Xia, the heartbreaker. Even if you were a Beta, loads of people would still like you. Oh, I get it now, you can’t be flirting around.”
Duan Yajie was clearly a social butterfly, completely unrelated to her rank or gender.
It took Jing Qingxia a long time to sort through the original owner’s memories to understand.
Although the little cannon fodder was a C-rank Alpha, her family was influential, and she was good-looking, so she had many admirers. The original text briefly mentioned that admirers often got her contact information through her friend B.
It was easy to figure out that this friend B was definitely not Yuan Leshan.
Jing Qingxia: “Don’t ever do this again. Casually joking like this can get people killed! If you have so much free time, you should join me at the training camp.”
“How can it get people killed… Cough! No way, no way, going to the training camp is what will get people killed. You’re the only one who’s been there for a week and hasn’t come out crying. I’m a bit confused. Why are you suddenly working so hard? Are you really going after Zhong…”
“I forgot to introduce you. This is my friend Duan Yajie. She doesn’t look decent, but she’s very loyal. And this is Zhong Mingxue.” Jing Qingxia realized Duan Yajie’s next words definitely wouldn’t be good, so she quickly interrupted.
Hearing Jing Qingxia, Duan Yajie finally noticed the graceful young lady hiding behind the nearby utility pole, and her body instinctively reacted: “Hi, beautiful.”
Immediately after, she felt the light and shadow in her vision spin, and her body was thrown to the ground.
“Ouch! Jing Qingxia, are you even human!!!”

Jing Qingxia (hands on hips): Dealing with three batches of people in one morning has truly exhausted me.
