The Cannon Fodder Female Supporting Character Alpha Decides to Go On Strike (GL) - Chapter 7
Life continued as usual.
Su Li and Shen Mo began exchanging “good mornings” and “goodnights” on their phones, but besides that, there was virtually no other communication. Su Li had tried to bring up work or casual topics, but Shen Mo usually read the messages and didn’t reply, only sending her greetings punctually when the time came.
After several days, the initial excitement slowly faded, and Su Li was completely unable to figure out Shen Mo’s intentions.
Time quickly flew by for over ten days; the page on the desk calendar was turned over.
One day, Su Li had just returned from meeting a client. Before she could even get a drink of water, the administrative assistant at the front desk called to say Su Qian was looking for her.
Since she was meeting her own father, Su Li wasn’t too formal.
She took off her jacket, unbuttoned the top two buttons of her shirt, and slowly sauntered to the chairman’s office, rolling up her sleeves before knocking on the door.
Su Qian called out, “Come in.”
“Dad, let me tell you…” Su Li walked into the room along the familiar path. “That Boss Zhu is so difficult to deal with! I ran to their construction site so many…”
Before she finished speaking, her nose caught a faint scent that didn’t belong in this place. Looking up, she saw Shen Mo, whom she hadn’t seen in many days, sitting upright and poised on the sofa.
Su Li’s voice died in her throat, and she stiffly switched her address: “President Shen?”
Shen Mo looked up at her, narrowing her eyes the moment she heard the title.
Su Qian: “Stop talking about irrelevant things.”
He waved Su Li over: “Come, come quickly. President Shen is here to discuss something with us.”
Su Li was stunned, then overjoyed.
She quickly walked in front of the two of them, looking at Shen Mo as she asked, “Has President Shen decided to choose our Su Corp as S.G.’s partner?”
Unable to contain her emotion, she sat right next to Shen Mo, grabbed her hand, and shook it excitedly: “Thank you, President Shen! Su Corp definitely won’t let you down! In the future, Su Corp will surely…”
Shen Mo stared at the hand being held by Su Li and lowered her head, coughing slightly.
She interrupted Su Li: “We are not discussing that matter.” After speaking, she thoughtfully explained: “Even if the cooperation agreement is reached, the formal implementation will have to wait until the second half of the year.”
Su Li’s smile froze on her face.
She let go of Shen Mo’s arm, but didn’t release her hand, instead gripping it tighter out of concern: “Then what is it?”
Su Qian spoke coolly from the side: “President Shen came to discuss your wedding date.”
Even for someone as composed as him, he found this matter unbelievable, and only spoke after pondering for two seconds: “President Shen thinks the 15th of this month is a good date. What are your thoughts?”
“Huh?” Su Li looked at her father, then turned to Shen Mo, “What wedding date? Whose wedding date?”
Su Qian picked up a paper document nearby and tapped her head twice with a bang-bang: “Who else could it be? Yours and President Shen’s! Your and Shen Mo’s wedding date!”
Su Li: “???”
She looked at Shen Mo, hoping for a contradiction from her, but instead, her gaze followed Shen Mo’s to the soft hand being held in her own palm.
Su Li abruptly released her.
“You just proposed to her recently, and President Shen accepted you,” Su Qian glared at her, exasperated. “How can you be so careless? You need President Shen to take the initiative to discuss the wedding date and marriage arrangements.
“You’ve completely disgraced us Alphas!”
“No, I… this…” Su Li finally regained her wits, breathing in large gasps from agitation.
She had indeed proposed to Shen Mo due to an accident, but they hadn’t mentioned it again since. In Su Li’s view, both parties were respectable people who must have put that day’s farce behind them, implicitly agreeing that the proposal never happened.
Therefore, she never believed that a marriage contract existed between her and Shen Mo!
But if that was the case, why was Shen Mo at the company today discussing the wedding?
Su Li looked up at Shen Mo next to her. The other woman’s calm eyes showed no ripple of emotion.
She suddenly realized a fact she had not dared to consider before—Shen Mo actually acknowledged the validity of that proposal and was impatient to marry her!
With this, many things that she had found strange before instantly made sense!
This deduction burst like fireworks in Su Li’s mind, and for a moment, she even felt dizzy.
Su Qian realized the atmosphere was strange and decided he shouldn’t interfere with the young people’s romance: “I have no objection to the wedding date. You two find a quiet place to discuss it yourselves.”
He smiled at Shen Mo: “President Shen, just let me know after you’ve made a decision.”
“You can just call me Shen Mo,” Shen Mo said graciously, standing up.
“Of course, of course,” Su Qian respectfully escorted them out the door.
Su Li had nowhere else to go and dazedly led Shen Mo back to her office.
After closing the door, she leaned her head against the door panel, trying hard to recall all the interactions between her and Shen Mo from the beginning until now.
Where did the mistake happen?
Shen Mo walked to her desk on her own and tapped the desktop with her finger. She called out: “Su Li.”
Su Li turned around, leaning her back against the door, and looked at her from a distance.
Although this was her own territory, the difference in their demeanor was vast, making it seem as if Shen Mo was the true owner here.
Shen Mo was not stupid; on the contrary, she was very intelligent.
“You don’t want to marry me?”
Su Li licked her dry lips.
She could feel her heart rate accelerating because of Shen Mo’s question, and she hesitated before asking in return: “President Shen… do you want to marry me?”
Shen Mo nodded openly.
Su Li was still confused: “Why me?”
By her reckoning, she and Shen Mo had only met twice in person. Although they occasionally communicated via phone, it was only a few brief words, definitely not enough to qualify as an online romance.
And now, Shen Mo was actually trying to skip all the complex steps and marry her directly?
Su Li felt like this piece of sky-high good fortune was about to give her a cerebral hemorrhage!
Shen Mo gracefully walked up to her: “You don’t know?”
Su Li lightly pressed her lips together.
They were so close that Su Li could see her own slightly bewildered face reflected in Shen Mo’s eyes—though she looked a little foolish, her features were delicate, and the sharp, heroic look in her eyes was rare.
Aside from everything else, her face was indeed quite an asset.
Su Li placed her hand on Shen Mo’s shoulder: “You like me?”
Shen Mo paused, then turned her head and looked away the next moment.
Not hearing an answer, Su Li lowered her gaze and caught sight of Shen Mo’s curved lips and flushed cheeks.
“Thump—thump—”
Her heartbeat sounded like a drum. Su Li’s entire body felt like it was boiling.
In her school days, there were many lovely and beautiful Omegas who had explicitly expressed their affection for her, but never had Su Li felt such intense excitement as she did now.
She grabbed Shen Mo’s shoulders, spun around to switch positions, and cornered Shen Mo against the door in a kabedon.
Shen Mo looked up at her, her eyes shimmering like water, reflecting an endless galaxy of stars.
A subtle fragrance wafted from her. Su Li couldn’t help but lean in to smell her neck: “…Did you use perfume?”
Shen Mo: “Mhm.”
“It smells wonderful,” Su Li asked, “What scent is this?”
Shen Mo replied: “White musk.”
Su Li cupped Shen Mo’s chin with one hand, her thumb gently rubbing the side of her lips.
“Can I…”
“Bang bang bang—” The door behind Shen Mo was heavily knocked on.
“Su Li? Su Li, are you inside? Open the door!” Qiao Mumu shouted from outside. “I brought you coffee!”
Su Li subconsciously pulled Shen Mo into her arms and took two steps back from the door.
She shouted outside: “I don’t need any!”
“Why don’t you need any?!” Qiao Mumu threw a fit like crazy.
She was so angry she resembled a spoiled brat whose toy had been snatched away: “Open the door! Open the door for me! What are you two doing in there?!”
Ignoring her, Su Li looked down at Shen Mo in her arms.
She expected Shen Mo to be displeased, but in fact, Shen Mo was leaning against her chest obediently, her expression calm, seemingly unaffected by any negative emotions.
Sensing Su Li’s gaze, she looked up, the starlight in her eyes as bright as ever.
Su Li was temporarily relieved.
“…I’m sorry,” she thought for a moment. “Are you free today? Should I take you out to eat?”
Shen Mo nodded, her chin brushing against Su Li’s soft skin through the thin shirt.
Su Li’s face suddenly flushed, and she released her, stepping back a couple of paces.
She hurriedly tidied her appearance, turned around to grab her jacket, and opened the office door for Shen Mo.
Outside the door, Qiao Mumu stood glaring, her eyes red.
