The Supporting Female Character Wakes Up and Gets a Happy Ending with the Female Lead (GL) - Chapter 17
“I’m so hot. Let me cool off first. Why don’t you go shower?”
Ji Baixing sat on the edge of the bed. Her hand relaxed, and her soft, ink-jade-like long hair spread out, messy yet obediently draped over her shoulders. She leaned back slightly, supporting herself on the bed, looking utterly relaxed. As if entering a certain mood, she looked at Lin Ji with empty, hazy eyes.
Lin Ji placed the script on the table, nodded, squatted down to open her suitcase, took out a set of pajamas, and headed toward the bathroom.
In the empty room, only the sound of the air conditioner’s fan could be heard, followed by the sound of water running in the bathroom.
Ji Baixing sat propped up on the soft bed, staring blankly at a certain spot for a while before slowly snapping back to attention. She picked up the script she had casually thrown on the bed, placed it between her legs, found a pen on the nightstand, and continued drawing and writing on the script.
Click.
About an hour later, the bathroom door opened.
Lin Ji walked out of the bathroom, drying her hair. But she didn’t enter the main room. She found the hairdryer, walked onto the small semi-circular balcony next to the room, sat on a rattan chair, and started drying her hair once it was mostly towel-dried.
Ji Baixing sat on the bed with her back to Lin Ji. She turned her head to look at Lin Ji on the small balcony, not rushing to shower. Instead, she opened the script she had just closed, and cautiously continued reading it.
It wasn’t until Lin Ji’s hair was almost dry that Ji Baixing closed the script, put it in the nightstand drawer, grabbed her pajamas, and went in to shower. She didn’t exchange a single word with Lin Ji the entire time.
The sound of water running started again in the bathroom, and Lin Ji happened to put down the hairdryer.
It was getting late, and after a full day of driving, she was tired. Lin Ji took out some necessities from her suitcase, put the suitcase away, and got into bed.
Then she looked back at the two beds in the room.
How to describe them?
Ostensibly, they were two beds.
But these two beds were oddly placed extremely close together. Only a slight indentation in the middle suggested they were two beds pushed together.
But even being pushed together wasn’t the weirdest part.
Lin Ji lifted the air conditioner blanket. The bedding underneath was two different colors. One was a deep, blood-like red with faint, cloud-like dark patterns. The other was an inky, deep black with constantly looping circular dark patterns.
It was inexplicable.
Lin Ji just felt that the two beds were positioned too tightly together, and neither of them was a large bed to begin with.
Ji Baixing had already placed her things on the black bed, so Lin Ji naturally lay down on the red bed.
After sending a message to her parents that she was safe and finding that she couldn’t sleep anyway, Lin Ji opened the script, which she had only glanced at for the character introduction, and started reading the plot.
Her identity was a Vampire, with a beautiful name: Hua An. Her mission was to… sign a contract with a Blood Servant.
[Among the humans who came to explore the castle this time, one person smells particularly nice. She looks innocent and cute, even a little silly. If only she could be persuaded with sweet words to let me bite her tonight.]
[She seems to be called Ran Qiqi.]
Ran Qiqi… Lin Ji remembered roughly comparing names when she got the script in the lobby. That seemed to be the script Ji Baixing had picked up.
No wonder. She and Ji Baixing were in the same room.
Just as she was wondering whether the “tonight” in the script referred to now or tomorrow night, there was a knock on the room door.
Lin Ji got out of bed and opened the door. Standing outside was Lin Lin. Lin Lin said nothing, simply handed two envelopes to Lin Ji, and then turned and left.
Lin Ji had a bad feeling.
When she opened the envelope addressed to her, it was exactly as she feared.
[Please complete tonight’s mission.]
The envelope also contained a small prop, two very small red dots. They seemed to be for simulating the bite marks of a vampire.
Lin Ji rubbed her forehead. How was she supposed to complete this mission?
The bathroom door opened, and Ji Baixing came out after showering.
Lin Ji handed the other letter to Ji Baixing: “Yours. The staff just came up and delivered it.”
“M-hm.” Ji Baixing took the envelope but didn’t rush to open it. It wasn’t hard to guess. She had already read the entire script. The contents of the envelope would only be instructing her to complete tonight’s mission.
Ji Baixing glanced at the envelope, then looked up at Lin Ji, who was sitting on the bed.
This is tough. How should she complete this mission? Asking Lin Ji to cooperate directly wasn’t impossible, but it would reveal her identity.
“You’re Ran Qiqi.” Lin Ji, who had finished reading the script, said without looking up.
Ji Baixing was combing her newly dried hair. She hesitated, then replied: “M-hm.”
Before Lin Ji could ask anything else, Ji Baixing proactively got onto the bed and moved closer to Lin Ji’s position: “Yes, and I know your identity too.”
“Vampire,” Ji Baixing said, looking into Lin Ji’s eyes. “You have a mission tonight, don’t you?”
Lin Ji didn’t waste any more time. She took out the props and placed them in front of Ji Baixing: “Will you cooperate?”
Ji Baixing smiled faintly at Lin Ji, sat back on her own bed, shook out the air conditioner blanket, and then said carelessly, “You’re asking me to cooperate so directly?”
Lin Ji asked, though she knew the answer: “What else is needed?”
“Sweet talk,” Ji Baixing said, holding her knee with one hand and resting her chin on it, gazing at Lin Ji with a light chuckle. “It’s an immersive experience. You have to let me experience it and feel it, right?”
“…”
Lin Ji dared not look at Ji Baixing’s smiling eyes, which seemed to be teasing her. She lowered her head, pretending to look at the script.
Sweet talk.
It wasn’t that she couldn’t do it. But… of all people, it had to be Ji Baixing. She felt that any sweet talk directed at Ji Baixing would only make Ji Baixing smile even brighter at her.
The room was silent for a few more seconds. Ji Baixing sighed and spread her hands: “Fine, I’ll cooperate with you then.”
Ji Baixing tugged her shirt collar down, held the props up against her shoulder, and said without looking up: “Where do you want to bite?”
Not hearing Lin Ji’s answer, Ji Baixing paused. Just as she raised her head with the props in her hand, the room suddenly plunged into darkness, followed by a pair of slender, icy hands, cool from the air conditioning, covering her eyes.
Only the wall lamp was on in the room originally. Lin Ji leaned back on the bed, reached out and turned off the light. The moment Ji Baixing looked up, Lin Ji gently covered her eyes with her hand.
“Lin… Ji?” Ji Baixing seemed surprised that Lin Ji had suddenly turned off the light. Plunged into darkness, Lin Ji’s sudden move to cover her eyes also startled her somewhat.
Lin Ji’s voice was cold and clear, like the faint, cool tea scent around her, making her seem unapproachable, yet irresistibly attractive.
Lin Ji said, “Not Lin Ji. It’s Hua An.”
In the pitch-black scene, a person’s other senses are infinitely heightened.
Ji Baixing could feel Lin Ji moving closer to her bed, the close proximity of her faint breathing, and she could especially feel the comforting coolness of Lin Ji’s icy hand on her cheeks, which had unconsciously become warm.
She realized belatedly that she seemed to have provoked Lin Ji again.
“Hua An?” Ji Baixing naturally immersed herself in the role, becoming Ran Qiqi. She imagined how Hua An intended to trick her in the pitch-black room. “What’s wrong?”
Lin Ji knelt in front of Ji Baixing. In the dark room, they could only vaguely make out the contours of the other person’s face using the faint light from the small balcony.
Lin Ji moved closer to Ji Baixing. Her voice, though cold and indifferent with no visible emotion, inexplicably carried a hint of ambiguity: “I smell a very sweet scent on you.”
“I just… finished showering,” Ji Baixing replied.
“M-hm.” Lin Ji moved even closer to Ji Baixing. Her hand no longer covered Ji Baixing’s eyes. Instead, following her gaze, it gently and slowly stroked her face, inch by inch.
“Your name is Ran Qiqi, right?”
In the darkness, no one could clearly see the other’s eyes. Encouraged by the night, both seemed to become bolder. Lin Ji stared fearlessly into Ji Baixing’s eyes, and Ji Baixing met her gaze without flinching.
“M-hm, my name is Ran Qiqi,” Ji Baixing said.
“Hua An’s” icy fingers moved down “Ran Qiqi’s” face. When the cool fingertips touched the line of her shoulder and neck, “Ran Qiqi” slightly trembled.
“I can’t sleep very well,” “Hua An” said. “The scent of you makes me feel very safe.”
Without waiting for “Ran Qiqi’s” reply, “Hua An” continued to speak to herself: “Can I rest my head on your shoulder?”
The prop in Ji Baixing’s hand had somehow made its way into Lin Ji’s hand.
In the midst of this ambiguous, testing atmosphere, Ji Baixing could only agree with a soft, “M-hm.”
As Lin Ji’s breathing grew closer, Ji Baixing slowly pressed her hand over her own heart. In such a quiet room, the sound of her own heartbeat seemed excessively loud.
One second, two seconds…
Lin Ji’s breath seemed to be getting closer and closer, almost nose-to-nose with her.
Lin Ji’s fingers gently pressed and kneaded Ji Baixing’s shoulder. Then, a warm breath softly landed on her shoulder.
Ji Baixing closed her eyes, just about to give up and let it be. Lin Ji quickly went pat, pat, and two small round dots were neatly affixed to Ji Baixing’s shoulder.
Then the nearby breath instantly vanished.
Lin Ji pulled the air conditioner blanket over herself, lay back on her own bed: “I’m going to sleep. Goodnight.”
Ji Baixing touched the two small red dots affixed to her shoulder and sat stiffly on her bed for a long time before realizing that she had actually been tricked by Lin Ji.
Three o’clock in the morning.
Lin Ji was still awake. Her mind alternated between Ji Baixing and the conversation between Ji Baixing and Song Zhaonan that morning. She wondered if the male and female leads were truly destined…
She opened her eyes, about to turn over, when she suddenly saw Ji Baixing getting out of bed in her peripheral vision.
Ji Baixing sat up, and then there was no further movement.
But just as Lin Ji let down her guard and considered sitting up as well… Ji Baixing suddenly moved closer to her.
Ji Baixing sat on the edge of Lin Ji’s bed, staring intently at Lin Ji.
“Lin Ji?” Ji Baixing called softly.
Lin Ji didn’t dare to answer. She was suddenly curious about what Ji Baixing intended to do.
After calling out, Ji Baixing again fell silent. She just sat there, quietly watching Lin Ji, much like she did in the infirmary, quietly sitting by and staring at Lin Ji.
Then she tucked the loose strands of hair behind her ear and leaned over Lin Ji.
She gently blew a breath toward Lin Ji, blowing away the bangs on her forehead.
Lin Ji frowned slightly. She smelled the fresh peach scent. Just as she was wondering why Ji Baixing was blowing her hair away, she suddenly felt a soft, warm, trembling sensation fleetingly brush her lips.
Ji Baixing kissed her.
