The Wheelchair Scum Alpha Has Something to Say (GL) - Chapter 14
Chen Mengyi never used harsh words when reprimanding Bai Yue. Her voice was soft and gentle, like a spring breeze rippling a pond, and her brow was slightly furrowed, like a willow leaf swaying in the wind. Yet, her pair of long, narrow phoenix eyes contained undisguised sadness.
With that expression directed at Bai Yue, no matter how hard Bai Yue’s heart was, it could only melt. Besides, Bai Yue was not a cold-hearted person to begin with.
So, she could only hang her head, looking guilty and admitting her mistake. But despite Bai Yue’s appearance, Chen Mengyi knew that if she asked Bai Yue if she regretted it, or if she would sneak a drink of milk tea again if she got the chance, Bai Yue still would.
I know I was wrong, but hey, I’m not going to change.
Chen Mengyi also felt that she sometimes interfered too much, and Bai Yue might start disliking her because of it. But after careful thought, Chen Mengyi still felt Bai Yue’s health was more important. Let me be the bad guy. She could only be this way for Bai Yue to live a few more years.
“I think of nothing but you. You saw when you ate at the company yesterday that I eat exactly what you eat every day. But today, you secretly drank milk tea. You were doing it behind my back.”
Chen Mengyi’s accusation made Bai Yue feel even more ashamed, her head nearly drooping to the floor. Bai Yue profusely apologized and repeatedly promised that she absolutely wouldn’t even think about it for the next three months before Chen Mengyi forgave her. However, she still had to accept a punishment.
—Watching Chen Mengyi drink milk tea right in front of her.
Chen Mengyi, with graceful composure, had her assistant buy a mango pomelo sago dessert. She didn’t want it from the restaurant because the restaurant’s mango pomelo sago was served in a bowl; she specifically wanted the kind served in a cup from a milk tea shop.
The assistant’s speed was comparable to Zhang Haiyin’s assistant. In a moment, he returned with a cup of milk tea in a yellow and white package. Chen Mengyi peeled off the wrapping and began to drink the milk tea right there with a straw.
There was no sound when drinking the milk tea at first, but towards the end, after the liquid was gone and only the toppings remained, the sound grew louder. Chen Mengyi sucking the mango chunks from the mango pomelo sago made the exact same sound as Bai Yue sucking the pearls earlier.
Even though she had just had milk tea today, hearing the sound made Bai Yue feel a little tempted.
She propped her head on her hand and watched Chen Mengyi finish the cup of mango pomelo sago, then sincerely said: “It tastes quite good.”
Bai Yue’s eyes lit up: “Then can I have some later…”
Chen Mengyi turned to look at her, her eyes narrowed in a smile, bringing out that “smiling tiger” quality again: “Of course not. We agreed you wouldn’t drink it for three months. If you behave well, I’ll drink it with you after three months.”
Bai Yue pouted, but the thought that she could still drink it in three months cheered her up a bit: “Fine.”
After lunch, Mama Li took Bai Yue home. With nothing much to do in the afternoon, Bai Yue painted for a while in the studio. She actually didn’t have much talent and didn’t particularly like painting, but she simply had no other skills. To go to university, she needed some specialty, after all.
Sports extra credit was definitely out of the question; with her legs, even if others gave her a two-minute head start, she still wouldn’t be a match for them in a hundred-meter dash unless she used her electric wheelchair. Since sports was a no-go, she could only take the art student route. She knew nothing about singing, dancing, or acting, so she had to put in the hard work for painting.
She naturally wanted to rely on academics to become the top student and enter a prestigious university, but her two mothers in the Bai family were so doting that they completely ignored the principle of “a kind mother spoils her son.” Bai Yue was accustomed to laziness, and her academic scores were, naturally, ten streets behind Chen Mengyi’s. Getting into a prestigious university based on academics alone was a pipe dream.
Fortunately, her art scores were acceptable, and coupled with the disabled student bonus and her mother’s donation of an entire building, Bai Yue barely managed to get into a top university, and it was the same school as Chen Mengyi.
But then again, Bai Yue felt that the donation of that building played a much bigger role in her acceptance into the prestigious university. As for painting skills, she had them, but they were mediocre. She was more proficient in the Picasso style, where the main point was that nobody else could understand it.
Bai Yue only resembled the style; her foundational skills were less than one ten-thousandth of Picasso’s.
However, this still counted as a hobby for Bai Yue. At least doodling and painting could relieve some inner stress. Bai Yue painted for a while in the afternoon, took another nap in the bedroom, and played a game after waking up. Then, it was time for Chen Mengyi to come home.
Chen Mengyi always left work early in the evening to make it home in time to eat dinner with Bai Yue, which was a bit inconsistent with her workaholic persona. But when it concerned Bai Yue, all other priorities could be set aside.
Bai Yue felt, though she wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, that the food tasted even blander tonight. She ate a few bites and couldn’t help but look up and ask Chen Mengyi: “Mengyi, don’t you think the chef put too little salt in tonight?”
Chen Mengyi didn’t hesitate for a second and told Bai Yue: “No, I think it tastes perfectly normal.”
Got it. Chen Mengyi instructed them to use less salt. She did it on purpose. It seemed that only drinking milk tea in front of Bai Yue and promising not to touch milk tea for three months hadn’t completely appeased Chen Mengyi. But this was probably the end of it. Chen Mengyi wasn’t that petty; after she finished this bland dinner, that would be the end of it.
After dinner, Chen Mengyi had a little more work to handle, while Bai Yue was taken out for a stroll by Mama Li. She activated her electric wheelchair, zoomed around her yard for a bit, and then came back. When it was nearly time, it was also time for her massage.
Chen Mengyi finished her work, changed her clothes, and came to massage Bai Yue. Bai Yue actually wanted to say that Mama Li could perfectly well handle these things. Before Chen Mengyi had the strength to perform a full massage, Mama Li used to do it for Bai Yue.
But Chen Mengyi absolutely wouldn’t agree. While massaging, she also wanted to chat with Bai Yue.
“Yueyue, what made you decide to invest in a movie?”
Although Chen Mengyi had accepted Bai Yue’s “villain” scenario during the day, she still felt something was off. After a calm afternoon, she felt she still had to ask Bai Yue. Bai Yue was holding the small blanket, crossed over her stomach, and felt the question was a bit much to handle.
I told the truth, so why does no one believe me?
Thinking about it, it made sense. If someone started talking about being a villain and causing trouble in front of her, she would also find it inexplicable and probably think the person was joking. There was no way to explain these things clearly. Chen Mengyi would only think she was throwing a childish tantrum, so Bai Yue simply decided to be reckless.
She looked up at the ceiling and spoke without thinking: “But I am the villain. Su Xi is the heroine, and I have to cause trouble for her. Only then can the plot proceed smoothly.”
Chen Mengyi massaged Bai Yue’s feet, her knuckles pressing into the soles of Bai Yue’s feet. The skin on Bai Yue’s feet was delicate and smooth. Unlike most people whose soles were thick or even calloused, hers were thinner from years of not walking.
When pressed, they were soft and didn’t have much elasticity. Chen Mengyi stimulated the acupuncture points on Bai Yue’s soles, but Bai Yue showed no reaction at all.
Chen Mengyi saw this but showed no reaction herself. She simply played along with Bai Yue’s words: “If you’re the villain, then what am I?”
Bai Yue recalled the plot’s setting and continued: “Then you’re the pitiful little egg bullied by the villain Bai Yue. You’re forced to help the villain cause trouble for the heroine, and eventually, you go to jail with the big villain.”
Chen Mengyi heard this, laughed a little through her nose, and said: “That sounds pretty good too.”
After pressing the soles of her feet, Chen Mengyi’s fingers gripped Bai Yue’s big toe, pulling and releasing it a couple of times. Each toe had to be addressed thoroughly. She asked Bai Yue: “Yueyue, are you feeling bored staying at home all day?”
Bai Yue didn’t know how the topic shifted to this, but since Chen Mengyi asked, she nodded: “Yeah, a little.”
After helping Bai Yue relax her calves, Chen Mengyi’s massage concluded.
“Then go ahead and have fun, Yueyue. Causing trouble is fine too, because I’m here to help you.”
Bai Yue froze for a moment. She propped herself up slightly with her hands on the bed. Chen Mengyi waved at her: “I’ll go wash my hands first.” She went into the bathroom, and the sound of running water soon followed. A moment later, Chen Mengyi came out.
She saw Bai Yue still holding her original posture and paused: “Yueyue, aren’t you tired in that position?”
Bai Yue suddenly patted the bed: “Mengyi, come here. I’ll give you a massage too.” In reality, Bai Yue just felt a little bad about spending so much money and felt grateful to Chen Mengyi, who was working hard to earn it. And when Chen Mengyi said, “I’m here to help you,” Bai Yue was quite touched.
Even though she was a paralyzed little useless person, Chen Mengyi was so good to her.
Feeling moved, she naturally wanted to reciprocate Chen Mengyi.
Chen Mengyi was surprised, but still walked to Bai Yue’s side, confirming again: “You want to give me a massage?”
Bai Yue nodded: “Yes.”
Chen Mengyi pressed her lips together. She wanted to smile but didn’t want to look too happy, so she simply turned around and first pressed the button on the bed. Once the bed was adjusted to the position where Bai Yue was sitting up, she sat on the edge of the bed.
Her dark, lustrous hair was tied into a ponytail behind her. Since Bai Yue said she wanted to give her a massage, she naturally swept her ponytail to the front. The strands of hair brushed against her shoulder, flowing loosely. Just looking at her from the back, one could tell she was a beauty.
Chen Mengyi was wearing soft pajamas, which perfectly outlined the curve of her shoulder.
Bai Yue was instantly awkward because she looked at Chen Mengyi’s shoulder and didn’t know where to start massaging.
—She’s an Alpha, after all!
