The Wheelchair Scum Alpha Has Something to Say (GL) - Chapter 23
Bai Yue’s incident was merely a small episode. After taking the sedative, a good sleep was mostly enough, though she felt some fatigue. Compared to her, Chen Mengyi, who came to see her after the side effects wore off, seemed more severely affected. Chen Mengyi’s complexion was already fair, but when she came to visit with a sickly appearance, her face was deathly pale, looking like a female ghost.
Bai Yue almost thought that the suffering ghost-wife character from the novels she had been reading recently had possessed Chen Mengyi.
Fortunately, her lips still held a trace of color, but this only emphasized Chen Mengyi’s extreme pallor.
Chen Mengyi sat down on the chair by Bai Yue’s bed. The upper part of Bai Yue’s bed was raised, allowing her to sit up. However, this configuration made Bai Yue seem rather callous. Bai Yue, well-fed and well-rested, lay in bed looking radiant, while the pale-faced Chen Mengyi sat beside her. Bai Yue looked utterly selfish in comparison.
Just as Bai Yue was about to tell Chen Mengyi to go rest, she heard Chen Mengyi speak: “Yueyue, are you feeling better?”
“I’m fine.”
Bai Yue answered, looking at Chen Mengyi, and couldn’t help but ask: “Mengyi, how are you feeling?”
Chen Mengyi shook her head: “Still a bit dizzy, and my stomach is uneasy. I’ve already vomited everything out, and my legs feel a bit weak.” She described it in detail, clearly the symptoms of the suppressant’s side effects. Seeing Chen Mengyi like this, Bai Yue genuinely felt heartbroken and couldn’t bear to tell Chen Mengyi to go back to sleep.
Chen Mengyi was in this state yet still forced herself to come see her. If she was so worried about her, and she still chased her away, wouldn’t she be even more heartless? After a moment of hesitation, Bai Yue patted her bed. She looked at Chen Mengyi and softly said: “Why don’t you come lie down for a bit?”
Her bed was quite large; there was more than enough room for two people. But Bai Yue thought Chen Mengyi wouldn’t accept, as Alphas and Omegas were different, and lying in the same bed might look improper. Chen Mengyi was usually particular about this. Except for when they were young and playful at twelve or thirteen, they had never lain in the same bed.
Moreover, even then, they had only shared the bed for a midday nap.
But this time, Chen Mengyi nodded. She stood up, pressed the button beside the bed, and to Bai Yue’s surprise, the bed slowly lowered. Then, Chen Mengyi, still wearing her pajamas and coat, hung her coat on the nearby chair, slipped off her slippers, and slowly climbed onto Bai Yue’s bed.
Bai Yue instantly stiffened, unsure where to put her hands. Yet, Chen Mengyi was as comfortable as if she were in her own bed. She first took a pillow from next to Bai Yue, then lifted the blanket and slipped under it.
Bai Yue only felt a gust of cool air when the blanket was lifted, followed by a warm presence mixed with the scent of sage coming closer. Chen Mengyi lay down on her side next to her, her head facing Bai Yue. Chen Mengyi’s voice sounded very tired. She yawned and said: “I’ll just sleep for a while, just a short while…”
“Ah… okay.”
Chen Mengyi was truly exhausted. She fell asleep quickly. To Bai Yue’s surprise, Chen Mengyi snored slightly when she was asleep. The sound was faint and quiet; one wouldn’t hear it unless the room was completely silent. Perhaps it was because Chen Mengyi was so tired that she made that sound.
At the same time, she was also very uncomfortable.
Once she was deeply asleep, Bai Yue could still hear Chen Mengyi whimpering faintly. Using the small nightlight, Bai Yue could see that Chen Mengyi’s brow was tightly furrowed, and a thin layer of sweat secreted on her forehead. Bai Yue thought about it. There wasn’t much she could do. She was paralyzed and couldn’t even turn over easily. She could only stretch out her arm and gently pull Chen Mengyi closer to her.
Chen Mengyi’s sleep wasn’t deep. Bai Yue’s small movement made Chen Mengyi’s eyes flutter open slightly. When she realized it was Bai Yue, she moved closer in response to Bai Yue’s action, until it looked as though Bai Yue was hugging Chen Mengyi.
The scent of sage was pleasant, at least Bai Yue thought so. Chen Mengyi under the nightlight was also beautiful. Her brows relaxed slightly, making her look even better. Bai Yue, taking advantage of Chen Mengyi’s sleep, leaned closer again, then whispered: “Goodnight.”
When she woke up the next morning, Bai Yue found Chen Mengyi still in her embrace, and her arm was still being used as Chen Mengyi’s pillow. This caused a problem… Bai Yue could barely feel the arm Chen Mengyi was lying on. It had been pressed down all night; of course, it was numb!
Not long after Bai Yue woke up, Chen Mengyi also opened her eyes. She propped herself up and sat up. Bai Yue turned her head to look at her arm—Phew, the arm was still there.
Chen Mengyi rubbed her eyes, then noticed Bai Yue’s gaze, realizing she had been pressing down on Bai Yue’s arm all night. She couldn’t help but ask: “Yueyue, are you okay?”
She had been okay last night, but now it was hard to say.
Bai Yue’s arm was intensely numb. Just lifting it caused a tingling, painful sensation that almost made Bai Yue cry out. Bai Yue’s eyes were red from the pins-and-needles sensation; she was completely wronged. Really, during the pheromone surge yesterday, she was so dazed she barely felt anything, but now this arm felt completely useless.
Chen Mengyi looked worried. She reached out and poked it with her finger. What difference was there between that and stabbing her with a needle? Bai Yue looked at Chen Mengyi, her eyes full of accusation. Chen Mengyi knew she was at fault: “I’ll rub it for you. The numbness will be gone soon.”
Chen Mengyi pressed a few times, and Bai Yue finally couldn’t hold back, shouting: “Wuwuwu, no! It hurts so much!” Chen Mengyi wouldn’t be soft-hearted in the face of Bai Yue’s complaints. Her finger pressed onto an acupuncture point, and a tingling sensation instantly spread throughout her body, but after a while, it got much better.
Bai Yue’s eyes widened: “That’s so magical?”
“Actually, the principle is quite simple. I learned a little bit when I studied massage. Numbness in the arm can be effectively improved by pressing the Fengchi (GB20), Shou San Li (LI10), and Sanjian (LI3) acupoints.” Hearing Chen Mengyi start talking professionally, Bai Yue felt even more numb, but in her brain, not her arm.
This incident was more or less over now. Both of them had recovered. Even so, Chen Mengyi still took two days off to rest at home. While they rested, the film crew wasn’t idle; they were already working hard to film quickly. Although Chen Mengyi had given them ample time, a movie that takes too long to film can be stressful and affect the actors’ subsequent schedules, so the sooner they finished, the better.
During these two days, Su Xi even came to visit Bai Yue.
Bai Yue even complained to Chen Mengyi: “As expected of the heroine, her personality is great, and she’s so kind.”
Chen Mengyi already knew Su Xi was the heroine in Bai Yue’s self-written story, but she was still puzzled. She tilted her head: “Then why do you still want to cause trouble for her?”
For the villain to cause trouble for the protagonist was simply a matter of course.
Bai Yue, confident that Chen Mengyi wouldn’t believe her anyway, spoke recklessly, mixing truth and lies: “Yes, exactly. You’re my fiancée, and you have to cause trouble for her with me.” She then remembered Chen Mengyi’s limitless tolerance and quickly added: “But we absolutely will not do anything illegal or disorderly. I’ll just cause trouble for her myself. Don’t you dare take matters into your own hands behind my back.”
She wasn’t saying this without reason. In many novels, the villain’s fiancé or fiancée often acts on their own initiative for the villain, causing irreparable damage. Although Chen Mengyi didn’t seem like the “love-brained” type, if there was some original plot’s irresistible force, it would be completely finished.
She didn’t want Chen Mengyi to end up in jail!
Chen Mengyi looked at Bai Yue, nodding under her gaze: “Mmm, I won’t do anything like that.”
Soon after receiving the news, Su Xi arrived at Bai Yue’s house, bringing some gifts. They were very conventional: fresh flowers and fruit… It was clear that Su Xi was probably just an ordinary person with little foresight before transmigrating. These were the kinds of gifts sent to visit the sick when Bai Yue first transmigrated at age six. Once people were slightly older, they knew such gifts were insulting and switched to giving things that were useless but of sentimental value.
Elders sent various wild ginseng, something impressive-sounding. Peers sent gold, silver, and jewelry, something to make one feel comfortable. Younger people always sent things the recipient liked, with all kinds of customized items emerging endlessly. It was a gift, but also a boast of their family’s capital.
Bai Yue actually didn’t want to live so snobbishly, but her two mothers insisted she had to. Receiving such simple gifts now, Bai Yue actually felt a bit touched.
Then the items were confiscated by Chen Mengyi and taken away. She smiled and expressed thanks, but Bai Yue knew these things wouldn’t enter her mouth, and even the flowers wouldn’t remain. In Chen Mengyi’s words: “Yueyue, your health is already poor. Don’t eat things of unknown origin; give them to Mama Li. Flowers have scents and will also affect your sleep.”
It sounded quite reasonable, though it was a benefit for Mama Li.
After chatting for a while, the topic inexplicably shifted to the rising star Alpha male celebrity. Chen Mengyi was always the type to settle a grudge immediately if possible. She had already instructed people to target him after waking up the day before, so now Su Xi mentioned him: “He’s been quite unlucky these last two days. I heard many endorsements have been canceled.”
To this, Bai Yue had only one word: “Serves him right.”
Later, when Mama Li came to bring tea for Su Xi, she listened for a moment and casually asked: “Then, what do the young ladies plan to do about that guy?”
Bai Yue and Su Xi spoke simultaneously, but their words were completely different:
“Of course, we’ll report everything he did to the regulatory committee!”
“Of course, we’ll teach him a lesson and completely blacklist him!”
After speaking, the two exchanged glances, and Chen Mengyi also looked away at that moment.
Because the person who talked about blacklisting him was Su Xi, while Bai Yue said they should turn him over to the regulatory committee.
Bai Yue’s eyes were filled with shock when looking at Su Xi: What’s wrong with you? Why are you acting like this, heroine? Why do you talk about blacklisting people right away?
Su Xi’s expression was no better: What the heck? I thought the wealthy families were supposed to use blacklisting! You’re actually reporting it to the relevant authorities?
