The White Lotus Villainess Is Obsessed With Me - Chapter 55
When it came to something as important as going home, Wang Sasa absolutely could not afford any mishaps. As soon as she entered the study, she locked the door behind her. She swallowed nervously and opened the drawer, pulling out the original novel that had been hidden at the back.
The black cover, with its eerie ghostly image. Wang Sasa trembled as she opened the cover—nothing happened. Doubtful, she held the novel above her head and looked at the back cover. The novel remained still and quiet, with no supernatural occurrences.
Wang Sasa stayed in the study for an entire hour, feeling utterly desolate. Her brows were furrowed, and she clenched her teeth. She couldn’t believe it! The earlier premonition must have been real! She rubbed her temples, trying to figure out what went wrong. Had everything she had done been a mistake?
She pondered and unconsciously bit her fingertips.
Don’t panic, she thought. She could still get home! She tried hard to recall the first scene when she entered the book world. Wasn’t it the bathroom at the second high school?
Suddenly, there was a knock on the study door, interrupting Wang Sasa’s thoughts.
“Sasa? Aren’t you going to sleep?”
Wang Sasa’s heart pounded wildly, almost jumping out of her throat. Even though she desperately wanted to grab the original novel and run to the school bathroom, she resisted the urge as she glanced out at the pitch-black sky.
Frowning slightly, she got up to open the door, managing a perfectly pleasant smile. “I’m just reading for a bit. I’ll go to bed soon.”
Tan Yixuan’s gaze briefly swept over her face, then shifted to the desk. Before she could see clearly, Wang Sasa pushed her aside and turned to close the study door.
Was there something in the study that Tan Yixuan shouldn’t see? Tan Yixuan’s lips straightened into a line. Her gaze deepened as she looked at Wang Sasa, and after a moment of silence, she said, “Go to sleep.”
Wang Sasa was well aware of Tan Yixuan’s suspicions, but she couldn’t let Tan Yixuan find the original novel. Tomorrow was Monday, and if she could endure one more night, she might be able to escape the book world.
That night, Wang Sasa struggled until 2 a.m., eventually falling into a drowsy sleep. In her dream, she was rushing towards the school bathroom with the novel in hand, just as she had when she first arrived, turning the door handle, with another world waiting on the other side.
“She’s back!”
Wang Sasa looked at the familiar campus of the first high school, her classmates and teachers, nearly in tears of joy.
Indeed, she hadn’t had a hard time in the book world, but it wasn’t her world.
After returning home, life went on as usual. Wang Sasa occasionally thought of the book world, about the unfortunate Tan Yixuan, and the moments they shared.
If Tan Yixuan lived in her world, she might have been willing to give it a try.
As a couple, Tan Yixuan was quite satisfactory, completely making Wang Sasa the center of her world. When she told her to go west, Tan Yixuan never went east. Unfortunately, they were from different dimensions. They were destined not to be together.
Wang Sasa rested her elbow on the desk, propped her chin on her hand, and gazed melancholically at the blue sky and the vast playground. A little fan chattered excitedly as she approached with a book: “Senior Sasa, I want to recommend a novel to you.”
Wang Sasa absentmindedly looked away, her eyes falling on the book cover, and her gaze froze.
“Oh, I haven’t gotten even with you yet. You’re here again?”
The little fan looked confused: “Senior, what are you talking about?”
Wang Sasa took a deep breath, suppressing her temper, and with a forced smile said, “Forget the novel; I’m not interested.”
As soon as she finished speaking, a gust of wind blew through the classroom, causing everyone to sway.
Wang Sasa felt a hand on her shoulder and heard a crisp, eerie voice: “Sasa, how heartless of you!”
Wang Sasa’s mouth twitched, then her eyebrows, until her entire face was scrunched up. Like a robot, she turned around to see Tan Yixuan’s face, dark with anger, staring at her sinisterly.
Tan Yixuan’s gaze was like a venomous snake, slowly crawling up her face.
Wang Sasa was horrified and stepped back, but her foot missed, and she fell into an abyss.
At 4 a.m., Wang Sasa suddenly opened her eyes, staring blankly at the white ceiling, starting to breathe heavily. Cold sweat appeared on her palms, and she wiped them on the blanket. Stealthily glancing to her side, she found it empty, with Tan Yixuan nowhere in sight.
Wang Sasa touched the cold blanket, realizing that Tan Yixuan must have left some time ago. A bad premonition rose in her heart, and she quickly jumped out of bed, hurriedly putting on her slippers and running out of the bedroom, only to see the study lit up with warm yellow light.
Without much thought, Wang Sasa quickly turned the study door handle, only to find Tan Yixuan sitting leisurely in the chair, her back to her. Hearing the noise, Tan Yixuan turned her head and smiled slightly, “Sasa? Why are you awake?”
Wang Sasa’s face twitched slightly, looking quite bad. She stammered, “Tan Yixuan, w-what are you doing?”
Tan Yixuan paused, brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, and smiled nonchalantly. “Nothing, just looking at something.”
Wang Sasa dared not breathe loudly, and said hesitantly, “Maybe, uh, don’t look at it anymore…” She naturally averted her gaze, her face stiff as she added, “It’s already four o’clock.”
“Okay, I’ll do as you say.”
Unexpectedly, Tan Yixuan followed her words and got up to walk towards her. Her steps were casual, her expression calm, and her smile just right, showing no signs of abnormality. Wang Sasa observed her carefully, and her tense nerves gradually relaxed.
Tick-tock…
What’s that sound?
Wang Sasa frowned and looked in the direction of the sound, only to see Tan Yixuan’s fingers hanging by her side. Her fingers were clenched, and vivid red blood was flowing down, falling to the ground and splattering into a bloodstain.
Wang Sasa gasped, “Tan Yixuan, stop!”
Tan Yixuan’s smile slowly faded, and she looked at Wang Sasa with a blank expression. “Sasa, why did you lie to me?”
Wang Sasa’s gaze darted between her fingers and her face, her teeth clenched as she turned and ran out. Before she could act, a strong force grabbed her from behind, holding her tightly and preventing her from moving.
Tan Yixuan embraced her from behind, resting her head on Wang Sasa’s shoulder, her voice hoarse and pleading. “It’s fine if you lie to me, but don’t leave me…” Her fingers continued to bleed, the blood dripping onto Wang Sasa’s white pajamas.
Wang Sasa gripped the arm around her waist, took a deep breath, and turned to face Tan Yixuan directly. “What are you imagining? What did I lie to you about?” Her face was calm, showing no sign of guilt.
If Tan Yixuan hadn’t seen the novel, she might have thought she was overreacting. Her dark eyes were fixed on Wang Sasa’s face, and the pain from the deception instantly overwhelmed her.
In critical moments, one must stay calm. Wang Sasa reminded herself, patted Tan Yixuan’s arm, and signaled her to let go. Then, under Tan Yixuan’s inscrutable gaze, she casually walked towards the desk.
If she remembered correctly, apart from herself, everyone else saw blank pages in the novel. Even if Tan Yixuan, as the boss, could see the text, what did that mean? Normal people wouldn’t think in a fantastical direction, right? With her frowning brows relaxing, Wang Sasa took the book and calmly handed it to Tan Yixuan.
“How do you find this book?”
Tan Yixuan took it in a daze, her expression momentarily confused.
“Sasa?”
Wang Sasa stubbornly continued, with an assertive tone, “I’m asking you, what do you think of it? Answer me!”
Tan Yixuan pursed her lips and looked at her. “What does Sasa want me to think about this novel?”
Wang Sasa’s heart skipped a beat at the key words. She was right; Tan Yixuan could see the text! Though her heart was in turmoil, her expression remained steady. After a moment, she put on a shy expression. “Since you’ve found out, you should take a good look at it.”
Tan Yixuan opened her mouth, looking at her in confusion.
Wang Sasa turned sideways, scratched the back of her head, and feigned shyness. “Haven’t you heard of fan fiction? Novels created based on real people.”
“Fan fiction?” Tan Yixuan seemed increasingly perplexed, unable to follow Wang Sasa’s train of thought.
Wang Sasa nodded earnestly. “You know I like to read novels. Recently, I got an idea and created a horror novel with you as the main character.” Wang Sasa became more convinced as she spoke, “Think about it, writing novels is so hard. Why not use real people from real life?”
Although she had written about Tan Yixuan turning into a ghost, wreaking havoc, and even killing herself, which was odd, Wang Sasa stuck to her own logic, “It’s just a novel! It’s not real!”
Seeing that Tan Yixuan was still staring at her in confusion, Wang Sasa nudged her with her elbow and asked again, “So, how do you find the novel?”
Tan Yixuan snapped back to her senses, seeing Wang Sasa’s face entirely inquiring, with no hint of guilt, and began to doubt herself. Was she really overthinking? She gazed gently at Wang Sasa, and seeing her clear and unwavering eyes, her anger gradually subsided, and a natural smile appeared on her lips. “It’s quite well-written.”
Wang Sasa immediately beamed, nodding in agreement. “I knew it. If it weren’t for writing about acquaintances, I wouldn’t be secretly enjoying writing it myself.” She paused and said proudly, “With my level, it would definitely be a bestseller and win countless awards after publication.”
Wang Sasa’s beautiful brows furrowed as she sighed. “It’s a pity it can’t be published…”
With a regretful expression on her face, she felt uneasy inside. Had she passed the test? Out of the corner of her eye, she watched Tan Yixuan’s expression, not daring to relax.
Seeing Tan Yixuan still holding the novel, Wang Sasa hesitated, mustered her courage, took the novel back, and placed it back on the desk. She then turned and led Tan Yixuan out of the study.
“Don’t think about it; get some sleep. We have classes tomorrow.”
