The White Lotus Villainess Is Obsessed With Me - Chapter 56
Wang Sasa did not sleep the entire night and was up almost at dawn. She rushed into the study, grabbed the novel, and went back to the living room. When Tan Yixuan woke up and saw her, Wang Sasa greeted her energetically with a backpack on.
“Good morning.”
Tan Yixuan gave her a deep look, remained silent for a moment, and replied faintly.
The hope of going home was so close, and Wang Sasa was determined not to let anything disrupt her plans. Once the excitement passed, her expression returned to normal, and she even intimately linked arms with Tan Yixuan.
“Just consider it a gift.” She smiled and gently squeezed Tan Yixuan’s hand. Tan Yixuan’s worried expression finally disappeared as Wang Sasa approached.
Her gaze lingered softly on other person’s face as she took Wang Sasa’s hand and held it gently in her palm, offering a tender smile. “How about we visit your parents at the end of this semester?”
Wang Sasa looked into Tan Yixuan’s eyes, which were very close, and paused for a second before slowly smiling back. “Sure.” With her eyes set on going home soon, she could not afford to let things fall through now! She tightened her grip and mentally apologized to Tan Yixuan.
The two walked hand in hand to school. The early study period had already passed ten minutes ago. Wang Sasa sat in her seat, enduring the discomfort for a few seconds before suddenly clutching her stomach and moaning, “My stomach… my stomach.”
Tan Yixuan looked at her with concern. “What’s wrong? Do you need to go to the infirmary?”
Wang Sasa scrunched her face and decisively refused, “No need! I… just have a stomach ache, I just need to go to the bathroom.”
Tan Yixuan supported her arm and leaned closer. “Do you want me to come with you?”
Wang Sasa’s face quickly changed, and she raised her voice. “No!” She paused and then softened her tone, “I wouldn’t want to trouble you. I’ll be back soon. Wait for me here, okay?” She hurriedly pulled a book from her bag, stuffed it into her hoodie, and rushed out of the classroom.
Tan Yixuan stared at her rapidly disappearing figure, her brows furrowed.
Wang Sasa didn’t check if Tan Yixuan had followed and ignored the murmurs of her classmates. Clutching the original novel, she sprinted down the corridor at full speed.
“Wang Shasha!”
Hearing someone call her name vaguely, Wang Sasa ignored it and kept running. Suddenly, a strong force grabbed her arm, almost making her fall.
“Who is it?!” Even with her good manners, she couldn’t help but swear. Turning around, she was stunned to see, “Wei Qi? Didn’t you transfer abroad?”
Wei Qi’s face turned red with embarrassment. He shifted awkwardly before cautiously saying, “I have a question to ask you.”
Wang Sasa was exasperated with him. Why was he like an annoying sticker that wouldn’t come off? With an irritable tone, she said quickly, “Not interested. Go away!”
Wei Qi was visibly upset, his face turning pale. He unconsciously let go of her. Freed, Wang Sasa ignored him, turned, and vanished around the corner of the corridor. Though she was far off, her voice still carried, “If you dare to follow, I’ll accuse you of sexual harassment!”
When she finally ran into the bathroom and locked the door behind her, she was almost in tears of joy. Even better, she had chosen a perfect time, as the bathroom was almost empty. The two girls who were there quickly left upon seeing Wang Sasa’s expression.
Wang Sasa swallowed hard, holding the novel and placing her hand on the bathroom door handle. She remembered that day she had opened the bathroom door, which is how she had entered the book world. If the scene was repeating, holding this novel should allow her to return to her world.
The wooden bathroom door creaked open little by little, light seeping in from outside. Wang Sasa’s heart raced faster, almost unbearable. She gripped the handle tightly and flung the door open—
Outside, Tan Yixuan stood at the door, looking at her in surprise. “Sasa? What’s wrong?”
Wang Sasa’s eyes widened suddenly, not answering Tan Yixuan’s question. Instead, she slammed the door shut and then opened it again in front of Tan Yixuan. This was repeated over a dozen times, the door slamming loudly and nearly falling apart. Tan Yixuan’s expression shifted from initial surprise to something more complex.
Wang Sasa covered her forehead, unable to believe what was happening. What went wrong? Was Tan Yixuan not happy enough? Was it not enough what she had done?
“Tan Yixuan, tell me honestly, are you happy being with me?” Wang Sasa put her hand down and stared directly at Tan Yixuan.
Tan Yixuan hesitated, took her hand, and smiled. “Of course I am…”
So where was the problem? Wang Sasa unceremoniously interrupted Tan Yixuan, quickly asking, “Then imagine, is there anything that would make you happier than being with me?”
Tan Yixuan tightened her grip, her palms sweating, and looked at her with a smile. “Naturally, it would be being with you forever…”
Wang Sasa’s smile suddenly looked worse than a cry. Being together forever? Could it be that she really had to spend her whole life in the book world? Wang Sasa could barely imagine such an outcome and reflexively pulled her hand away from Tan Yixuan.
Seeing Tan Yixuan’s stunned expression, Wang Sasa realized she had overreacted. She hurriedly added, “Forget what I said, it’s impossible to be together forever…” As soon as she finished, Tan Yixuan’s expression grew even more sorrowful.
Wang Sasa opened her mouth, wanting to say a few comforting words. But at that moment, her mood was so terrible that she had no room to comfort anyone. She hurriedly changed the subject and returned to the classroom, feeling dazed.
There were two possibilities: one, that the key to going home lay with Tan Yixuan since she was the overarching boss. The other, that from the moment she entered the book, she had lost all connection to the real world. This would mean she could never return to reality. If it was the latter, what was the point of everything she had done since entering the book?
To confirm her guess, Wang Sasa turned her attention to Tan Yixuan. Since she was the key, it was enough to stimulate her, whether the stimulation was positive or negative.
“Tan Yixuan, can we talk?” After the morning class, Wang Sasa said this to Tan Yixuan. To avoid unexpected events, Wang Sasa had chosen the middle of the day and a relatively secluded place—on the school playground.
Under the high noon sun, the playground was sparsely populated with students taking walks. Wang Sasa and Tan Yixuan walked among them, remaining inconspicuous.
Wang Sasa held Tan Yixuan’s hand, walking while looking around. It seemed like she was admiring the scenery, but she was actually surveying the surroundings. Tan Yixuan noticed her incessantly shaking her head and couldn’t help but laugh, asking, “What do you want to say to me? Why did you bring me out to the playground?”
Wang Sasa’s face showed a hint of awkwardness. She paused, cleared her throat, and said, “Yixuan.” She held Tan Yixuan’s hand, looked into her bright black eyes, and braced herself. “Last night I thought it over and I think we should focus on our studies.”
Tan Yixuan’s smile slowly faded, her brows furrowing as she asked, “What do you mean?”
Wang Sasa closed her eyes, gritted her teeth, and quickly replied, “So let’s break up!”
There was a long silence.
Wang Sasa opened one eye and glanced over to see Tan Yixuan staring at her in shock, unable to process what she’d just said.
Wang Sasa shook her hand and said, “Tan Yixuan?”
Tan Yixuan snapped back to reality, her mouth forming a straight line as she forced a smile. “Today isn’t April Fool’s Day, right?”
Wang Sasa sighed and repeated, “I’m sorry, but let’s break up.”
Tan Yixuan stared at her incredulously, glaring at her before turning and walking away quickly, as if being chased by a ghost, not giving Wang Sasa a chance to follow.
Wang Sasa had no choice but to run to keep up with Tan Yixuan’s pace. She grabbed her shoulder from behind, turned her around, and held her arm, staring intently into her eyes. “Tan Yixuan, I’m not joking. I’ve thought this through and believe we should focus on our studies. In another semester, we’ll graduate high school…”
“Don’t force me…” Tan Yixuan’s dark eyes were clouded with a grim expression. The sudden coldness in her gaze made Wang Sasa shiver. Her mind went blank, and she instinctively let go. However, Tan Yixuan grabbed her hand back, holding it firmly.
“Break up with me?” Tan Yixuan stared at her intensely, her grip tightening as she held Wang Sasa’s arm, her eyes filled with a frightening coldness. “I don’t agree! Today… I’ll pretend you never said that.”
There were no other students around them; the playground was deserted. Wang Sasa faced Tan Yixuan’s piercing gaze, her courage faltering. She swallowed hard and tried to stay motivated, hoping for a chance to go home.
“You can’t do this… Why can’t we break up? Isn’t it better to part on good terms?”
“Why?” Tan Yixuan’s face remained rigid, her pale complexion exuding a chilling aura under the noon sun. She stepped closer, abruptly pulling Wang Sasa into her embrace, staring deep into her eyes. Her voice was nearly pleading. “Don’t talk about studies. Tell me the real reason…”
Wang Sasa stood still, her heart pounding with fear. She thought, why is breaking up causing such a reaction? She looked into Tan Yixuan’s deep black eyes, watching as they reddened and tears began to gather.
Taking a deep breath, Wang Sasa felt overwhelmed, but she paused, gently but firmly removed Tan Yixuan’s hand, and said, “Tan Yixuan, I don’t like you. Is that reason enough?”
