The White Lotus Villainess Is Obsessed With Me - Chapter 61
The burning gaze that had been piercing her suddenly disappeared. Wang Sasa turned her head to look and saw that Tan Yixuan’s figure was already gone from the road ahead. Just as she was about to walk away, someone grabbed her arm. She turned around and saw it was the unfamiliar girl from before.
Ji Yiran held onto her arm and asked, “How did you end up coming here with Tan Yixuan?”
Wang Sasa’s movements were interrupted, and she immediately frowned at her. Just as she was about to say something, the crowd around them suddenly surged forward, pushing the two of them ahead.
Wang Sasa was jostled around and struggled to maintain her balance amid the throng of people. By the time she steadied herself, she realized that aside from the unfamiliar girl, everyone else had vanished.
She stood dazed for a moment before regaining her senses. Seeing the girl still stubbornly holding onto her arm, Wang Sasa couldn’t help but feel a bit helpless. “It’s too complicated,” she said. “I can’t really explain it.”
After speaking, her gaze shifted slightly to the empty space in front of her, hoping the system might give her some guidance. With a thought, the character profile of the person in front of her appeared in midair.
[Ji Yiran: Wang Sasa’s deskmate and friend. Due to family circumstances, she is often discriminated against by her classmates.]
Ji Yiran was unsatisfied with Wang Sasa’s response. However, seeing that Wang Sasa didn’t want to explain, she didn’t press further and could only purse her lips in disappointment. In a low voice, she warned, “You should stay away from Tan Yixuan. She…” She hesitated for a moment before gritting her teeth and adding, “She’s different from us.”
Although she had never seen Tan Yixuan bullying anyone, her infamous reputation was well-known. The entire student body at Second High seemed bewitched, with an almost fanatical attitude toward Tan Yixuan.
Wang Sasa had only just transferred to the school and had already caught Tan Yixuan’s attention because of Wei Qi. Tan Yixuan had unresolved feelings for her childhood friend, and anything related to Wei Qi would only make her treat Wang Sasa worse.
There must be a scheme at play!
Due to her family issues, Ji Yiran was alienated by her classmates, making her nearly invisible in the class. After finally making a friend, how could she stand by and watch as Wang Sasa got dragged into the mire?
With these thoughts in mind, Ji Yiran tightened her grip on Wang Sasa’s arm and expressed her concern. “You need to be careful. Tan Yixuan definitely has ulterior motives.”
Wang Sasa raised an eyebrow, impressed by her deskmate’s sharp insight. She didn’t know what Tan Yixuan was planning, but her own intentions weren’t pure either—she just wanted to raise Tan Yixuan’s favorability score so she could return home. Although the system had indicated that Ji Yiran was her friend, they had only just met, so Wang Sasa couldn’t muster much warmth toward her. She simply smiled to hide her awkwardness. “Don’t worry. I understand.”
With that, the two of them entered the classroom side by side. Wang Sasa, wanting to ease the unfamiliarity between them, made an effort to chat more with Ji Yiran, and the two walked in laughing and talking.
As soon as Wang Sasa stepped into the classroom, she felt a familiar sharp gaze land on her, causing her smile to freeze. She looked up and saw Tan Yixuan sitting leisurely by the window, arms crossed, her expression somewhat cold as she eyed Wang Sasa.
Unfazed, Wang Sasa raised her hand to greet her. However, as soon as Tan Yixuan saw her, she abruptly turned her head to look out the window.
Wang Sasa’s hand froze awkwardly in mid-air. Beside her, Ji Yiran followed her gaze and was slightly taken aback. She then glanced worriedly at Wang Sasa. “What’s wrong?”
Wang Sasa shook her head and decided to approach Tan Yixuan after school. With so many people in the classroom, drawing attention was one thing, but provoking jealousy among her fans would be much worse.
Not wanting to complicate things, Wang Sasa refrained from interacting with Tan Yixuan during the morning classes.
On the other side, Tan Yixuan appeared to be studying her textbook seriously, but her lips were pressed tightly together, and her rising anger created a stifling atmosphere. Her deskmate, a frail and timid boy, was always nervous, and with Tan Yixuan’s oppressive mood almost visible, he shrank further into his seat, too scared to speak.
When the bell rang for the morning break, the students of Class 6 erupted out of the classroom like wild horses, eager to leave. Wang Sasa snapped out of her thoughts to find that only Ji Yiran, Tan Yixuan, and a few others remained in the room.
After a brief pause, Wang Sasa got up and approached Tan Yixuan. With an unreadable expression, Tan Yixuan watched her approach, while Wang Sasa’s almond-shaped eyes curved into crescents. “Tan Yixuan, want to hang out tonight?”
Tan Yixuan blinked in surprise, her black eyes flashing with an unreadable emotion. Before she could respond, an unwelcome figure suddenly rushed up behind Wang Sasa.
Ji Yiran clung tightly to Wang Sasa’s sleeve, her face pale as she looked over nervously. “Sasa? Why are you over here? Let’s go have lunch, okay?”
With one last wave to Tan Yixuan, Wang Sasa walked off, smiling.
Tan Yixuan clenched her fists, her pitch-black eyes following Wang Sasa’s retreating figure until she disappeared through the door. Only then did she slowly look away.
Zhou Yunlu and her two companions watched Tan Yixuan’s dark expression in silence, barely daring to breathe. Then they saw Tan Yixuan pull out a roster from her desk drawer. The roster contained detailed information about all the students in Class 6 of the third year, including photos, names, and details about their friendships and families.
The three stared at the seemingly ordinary roster in confusion. Was their boss angry with someone again?
Tan Yixuan calmly took out a red pen and forcefully marked an X over Ji Yiran’s ID photo. She pressed so hard that she nearly tore through the timid face in the picture.
Afterward, she ripped out the damaged photo, put the roster away, and lazily propped her chin on her hand. “You know what to do, right?” she said coolly, not even bothering to lift her eyes.
Zhou Yunlu swallowed nervously and took the small photo from Tan Yixuan, clutching it tightly. “I’ve always disliked her! Don’t worry! We’ll make sure to have a lot of fun with her!”
Without a word, Tan Yixuan shot her a glance, then let out a quiet hum. She absentmindedly stroked the cover of the roster, thinking about the way Wang Sasa and Ji Yiran had left together, and a dark anger rose up within her.
Even with a second chance, Wang Sasa was still being disobedient, letting any random person capture her attention. All she needed to do was keep her eyes on her and focus on pleasing her—that should be her only concern. But her heart was always filled with so many distractions.
Still, soon enough, she would return to her side. Tan Yixuan flipped open the roster and gently traced Wang Sasa’s picture. The girl in the photo beamed with a bright smile, making Tan Yixuan’s heart race.
Her slender fingers couldn’t help but outline the girl’s delicate lips inch by inch. She then retracted her fingers, pressing her fingertip to her own lips. A sickly flush crept across her face.
After school in the afternoon, it was almost time for dinner.
Wang Sasa took advantage of Ji Yiran going to the bathroom to successfully shake her off and turned to look for Tan Yixuan. Tan Yixuan was alone in the classroom, and her three lackeys weren’t around. She raised an eyebrow, feeling a bit puzzled, but her face didn’t show it.
“Shall we have dinner together?”
Tan Yixuan, hearing this, subconsciously lifted the corners of her mouth. After a long pause, she finally responded with a faint “Mm.”
Wang Sasa eagerly looked at Tan Yixuan, hoping she could earn a few dozen more points in favorability, just like yesterday. She had figured it out—Tan Yixuan may seem scary sometimes, but she was actually a good-tempered tsundere.
Even though she was a school bully, she had never really gotten angry with her!
The more Wang Sasa thought about it, the more relaxed she felt, and she became bold enough to link arms with Tan Yixuan. Tan Yixuan’s eyelashes trembled slightly, but not only did she not reject it, she even gripped Wang Sasa’s hand tightly as she linked arms.
Walking through the school corridor arm in arm with Tan Yixuan, they appeared very close.
She could walk home with Tan Yixuan every day. Once the favorability points rose enough, she wouldn’t have to worry so much during the day.
As far as she knew, Tan Yixuan, like her, was a day student. Wang Sasa’s identity in this world was that of an orphan whose parents had passed away. Though she was an orphan, she had inherited a large fortune, which allowed her to rent a single apartment near the school—a perfect identity for her.
Lost in thought, Wang Sasa suddenly heard a faint girl’s voice calling for help. She immediately stopped in her tracks and turned around to look. Tan Yixuan glanced over indifferently, pretending to be confused. “What’s wrong with you?”
Wang Sasa frowned and looked suspicious. “Did you hear something?”
Tan Yixuan smiled nonchalantly and replied, “No, you must be hearing things.”
Wang Sasa’s furrowed brows slowly relaxed as she hesitated. “Really?”
She turned back, intending to continue walking, but suddenly heard the girl’s voice more clearly. This time, she recognized it—it was Ji Yiran’s voice. Since Ji Yiran was her deskmate, she couldn’t just ignore her. Apologizing to Tan Yixuan, she turned and ran toward the source of the sound.
Not far away, in the first-floor bathroom of the teaching building, Ji Yiran was being held down, looking disheveled. Zhou Yunlu and her two companions stood at the bathroom door, glaring down at her with hostile expressions.
Wang Sasa rushed to the bathroom door and tried to turn the handle, only to find that it wouldn’t budge. She called out several times, but no one responded. Frowning, she stepped back a few steps and, with a swift kick, broke the door open.
The door burst open with a loud crash, catching the three standing by surprise. They were knocked over by the door, screaming as they fell to the floor.
The delinquent girls holding Ji Yiran down were frozen in place, staring in shock at Wang Sasa standing at the door, as well as the three people who had just been knocked over. Their mouths twitched.
Wang Sasa was also taken aback to see the three people sprawled awkwardly on the ground. However, she disliked Zhou Yunlu and her group, so she just gave them a cursory glance before shifting her attention to Ji Yiran, who was lying on the floor. Surprised, she raised an eyebrow. “What’s going on?”
Zhou Yunlu jumped up from the ground, clutching her head, and glared at Wang Sasa with fury. “You idiot! Can’t you open a door properly?!”
Wang Sasa shrugged innocently. “Who told you to stand by the door? Besides, I called out several times, and none of you answered. So who’s to blame?”
Her cocky and aggravating attitude made Zhou Yunlu almost pass out with anger. Trembling with rage, she pointed a finger at Wang Sasa and shouted, “Don’t think that just because you’ve slept with the boss, I won’t dare to teach you a lesson!”
As soon as she said that, several shocked gazes fell on Wang Sasa. Even Ji Yiran, who was lying on the floor, couldn’t help but lift her head slightly to look at her deskmate, her face filled with disbelief.
Zhou Yunlu realized the atmosphere had changed and suddenly panicked, realizing she had just said something that tarnished Tan Yixuan’s reputation. In a fluster, she tried to explain, “It’s not what you think! They were just sleeping together, nothing more!”
The more she tried to explain, the more suspicious everyone’s gazes became. Feeling humiliated, Zhou Yunlu stomped her foot in frustration and shouted at her lackeys, “What are you waiting for?! Keep going!”
The delinquent girls snapped back to attention and, grabbing Ji Yiran’s hair, prepared to dunk her into the sink. Seeing that things were about to escalate, Wang Sasa quickly intervened. “What do you think you’re doing!?”
Zhou Yunlu sneered and said, “What do you think? Teaching her a lesson, of course!” She tugged at her shirt collar and gave a self-righteous explanation. “She dirtied my clothes and can’t afford to pay for them. So what do you think I should do?”
Zhou Yunlu was wearing the standard uniform of Second High School. Ji Yiran’s family may have been poor, but they could certainly afford to replace a uniform. It was obvious she was just looking for trouble.
Before Wang Sasa had transmigrated, she had diligently served as the president of the student council, so she absolutely despised school bullying. Without a second thought, she walked over to Ji Yiran, placed her hand on the wrist of the girl assaulting her, and said flatly, “Let go.”
Just as she finished speaking, footsteps suddenly echoed from the doorway. Wang Sasa slightly turned her head and saw a slender figure standing against the light. The evening sun behind her cast her silhouette in a hazy red glow, making her appear ominous.
Tan Yixuan’s sweet, crisp voice rang out unmistakably. “Sasa, come here.”
Wang Sasa was momentarily stunned, and then words suddenly flashed before her eyes in the air.
[Timed-Limited Task: Respond to Tan Yixuan’s request. Time limit: 5 minutes.]
Her eyes widened in surprise and confusion. Respond to Tan Yixuan’s request? What did that mean? Was it simply asking her to walk over? Time was running out, so without hesitation, Wang Sasa turned and walked toward Tan Yixuan.
Behind her, Ji Yiran watched her deskmate leave without a second thought, and a look of despair washed over her face.
Tan Yixuan glanced at Ji Yiran from the corner of her eye, and a smile slowly crept onto her lips. As Wang Sasa approached, she met her warmly, gently linking arms with her, and whispered softly, “Let’s go, shall we?”
Wang Sasa frowned as she looked at the timed-limited task. The countdown was still ticking. It seemed that the real purpose of this mission was to make her ignore the school bullying and leave with Tan Yixuan? As she thought about this, her expression grew more serious, and her fingers unconsciously tightened around Tan Yixuan’s hand. Gently but firmly, she pried Tan Yixuan’s fingers away. “I’m sorry, but I have to stop this.”
If she didn’t know about it, that was one thing. But now that it was happening right in front of her, how could she pretend not to see?
Tan Yixuan’s dark eyes locked onto hers, reflecting the blinding glow of the setting sun. Her fingertips trembled slightly.
So, it didn’t matter if the task failed?
It didn’t matter if it hurt her?
Was she really less important to Wang Sasa than Ji Yiran?
The red sunset reflected in her eyes, growing darker and more glaringly red.
Her lips twitched, and suddenly she covered her face, letting out a sharp, neurotic laugh. She had been far too soft with her. From the very beginning, she shouldn’t have given her any choice at all.
Wang Sasa returned to the bathroom, and suddenly an ear-piercing alarm sounded in her ears. She stared helplessly as a notification appeared at the end of the timed-limited task.
[Timed-Limited Task: Respond to Tan Yixuan’s request. 【Failed】]
[Punishment system activated, worldview readjusting, mission difficulty increased. 【Loading】]
Wang Sasa’s heart sank, and a bad feeling rose inside her.
