The Whole World Wants Them to Get a Divorce - Chapter 1
It was late February. The lingering atmosphere of the New Year hadn’t quite faded, but the streets were desolate and bleak.
Bare tree branches shivered in the cold, and strange, sorrowful whimpers came from a low-lying bush, as if something sinister were hidden within. A stray cat startled while rummaging for food beside a trash can, letting out a frightened “meow” and scurrying away.
A hush fell over everything.
Then, a minivan, seemingly out of nowhere, sped out of control and headed straight for a lone figure on the side of the road.
“Bang—”
…
Am I dead? Si Yu asked herself.
Consciousness returned, and the scene before her had changed.
She was wearing a pale purple evening gown with delicate makeup, standing at the edge of a shimmering swimming pool, watching a woman thrashing in the water.
… Someone fell in?
Before Si Yu could make sense of it, a flash of white light exploded in front of her eyes, and a series of scenes flashed like a movie in her mind:
Two minutes ago, a woman who looked exactly like her pushed another woman into the pool.
Before the woman fell in, the one who looked just like her said to the victim with a vicious tone, “Liang Yufei, go to hell!”
Liang Yufei? Wasn’t that the female lead from the novel, The Domineering CEO Is Obsessed with Me, that she had read a few days ago?
Si Yu remembered a part in the book where the villainous female supporting character, “Si Yu,” who shared her name, held a grudge against the protagonist. At a banquet, she tricked the naive protagonist and, when no one was looking, pushed her into the pool, knowing she couldn’t swim.
But what did this have to do with her? Why was she seeing all this?
The person who pushed Liang Yufei was clearly not her, so why did that person look exactly like her?
The scenes in her mind suddenly disappeared as if the power had been cut.
It was as if a switch had been flipped. Si Yu’s body swayed slightly, her vision refocused, and the scene before her became clear once more.
There really was someone in the pool!
Seeing the pitiful woman struggling desperately in the water, Si Yu didn’t hesitate. She kicked off her high heels and dove in headfirst.
She had only one thought: Save her.
As she plunged into the water, it felt as if she had been pulled into a whirlpool. No matter how much Si Yu thrashed and struggled, she couldn’t get free and sank deeper.
This wasn’t right.
Si Yu knew how to swim and was quite good at it, but this body wouldn’t listen to her!
“Help—” she barely opened her mouth before water rushed into her throat, silencing her.
Am I really going to die this time?!
Just as she was giving up hope, she felt someone grab her arm and pull her out of the abyss.
She didn’t know how much time had passed.
When she woke up, she was in an unfamiliar room.
A tall figure stood by the window. The woman wore a sleek white shirt and high-waisted black trousers that made her legs look long and slender, with a waist that was so trim it would make anyone envious.
Her figure was absolutely stunning.
But… who was she?
“You’re awake?” Hearing the movement, the woman’s gaze swept over her indifferently.
Si Yu’s heart skipped a beat.
In film school, Si Yu was voted the campus beauty of her year. Although she wasn’t particularly famous after her debut, she was often praised for her looks. She thought she was fairly attractive, but when she saw the woman’s features clearly, she was stunned.
The woman’s eyes were long and narrow like a fox’s, but calm and emotionless—not delicate or flirtatious, just cold, yet subtly enchanting. Her thin, pursed lips had a perfect shape and tempting color. Her face and features were flawlessly perfect.
Si Yu was speechless, suddenly wanting to look in a mirror to see if she had something on her face or if her hair was a mess.
This woman’s beauty carried a destructive power that made her feel self-conscious.
Si Yu unconsciously licked her lips. Meeting the woman’s icy gaze, she asked, “Who are you?”
The woman’s beautiful face remained expressionless. She looked at Si Yu as if she were a random stranger, her calm tone laced with sarcasm: “Last month you pretended to slit your wrists, and now you’re faking amnesia by falling into the water. Ms. Si, how many more tricks do you have up your sleeve?”
“…”
Slit her wrists? Faking amnesia?
What the heck? Am I in a movie?
The woman saw her stay silent and said coldly, “I told you before we got married that I had no feelings for you. Just give up.”
Married? Two women can get married? Is the country’s policy that lenient now?
Si Yu was full of questions. She looked at the unrealistically beautiful woman in front of her, blinked, and said, “What are you talking about? You’re so beautiful; if I had met you before, I would definitely remember. Did you mistake me for someone else?”
Lu Xi: “…”
Lu Xi didn’t know what kind of game she was playing now. She took a few steps forward and, as if by magic, pulled out a stack of A4 papers. Her cold eyes looked down at Si Yu. “Sign this agreement.”
Si Yu took it, confused. When she looked down, the large words “Divorce Agreement” jumped out at her.
What?
Her eyes moved down, and she saw the neat, elegant signature, making her eyelids twitch.
Lu! Xi!
This name was all too familiar. Wasn’t this the female number two from the book, The Domineering CEO Is Obsessed with Me?!
As things unfolded, Si Yu began to piece things together. A preposterous thought surfaced in her mind: she might have transmigrated into the book.
She had transmigrated into the yuri novel she had read a few days ago, The Domineering CEO Is Obsessed with Me, and became the villainous female supporting character…
Si Yu was an actress and a huge fan of novels. She had read countless web novels and many transmigration stories. She had always thought that “transmigration” was just a fantastical, quirky setting created by authors. How could a person actually cross into a book?
Yet, this absurd and strange thing had happened to her.
The villainous supporting character had the same name as her. Their backgrounds were also similar, as both had lost their parents in a car accident. The difference was that the “Si Yu” in the book was a rich second-generation heir, whose parents left her a huge fortune, enough for her to live a life of luxury without any worries. On top of that, “Si Yu” was married to Lu Xi, the eldest daughter of the Lu Corporation. Although outsiders didn’t know about it, she was a true wealthy madam.
“Si Yu” loved Lu Xi to the point of madness and was utterly vicious. She hated the protagonist simply because Lu Xi had given the protagonist a ride home, which was photographed and became a trending topic. She tried to frame the protagonist again and again. Lu Xi eventually had enough and divorced “Si Yu,” finally getting her happy ending with the protagonist.
Si Yu was in shock. Why did she become the villainous female supporting character?!
“What are you hesitating for?” The woman’s cold, impatient voice echoed above her head. “Our marriage was an agreement. It clearly states that our marriage will be terminated after two years. Today is the final deadline.”
Si Yu remembered that in the book, Lu Xi first brought up the divorce with the supporting character after “Si Yu” pushed the protagonist, Liang Yufei, into the water. However, “Si Yu” at the time refused to sign and caused a lot of trouble, and they ended up taking the matter to court and parting on bad terms.
Since she had to divorce anyway, who cared about the ridiculous plot?
From the moment she was hit by the car to her transmigration, Si Yu’s mind had been in a daze. Lu Xi’s pleasant voice seemed to carry a certain magic, and she picked up the pen.
“You can’t sign!”
A strange female voice exploded in her mind, so loud it almost ruptured her eardrums. Si Yu clutched her ears and hissed in pain.
“Clink—”
The pen rolled a few times on the smooth floor before being stopped by a shiny black high heel.
Lu Xi’s two beautiful eyebrows moved almost imperceptibly as she looked at the bewildered Si Yu.
Si Yu looked left and right, searching for any suspicious signs, feeling a mix of surprise and uncertainty.
Was that a hallucination?
There were only two of them in the room, so why did she hear another woman’s voice?
The voice was short and urgent, sounding like a mechanical electronic tone, speaking directly inside her head.
A shiver went down Si Yu’s spine. Her body stiffened, and her eyes slowly moved. She quietly asked the person standing in front of her, “Is there anything… strange behind me?”
Lu Xi gave her a strange look, glanced behind her, and said, “There are only two of us in this room. What are you trying to pull now?”
Nothing? Si Yu breathed a sigh of relief.
She was probably just overthinking. How could there be a ghost in broad daylight?
Just as she thought that, the voice in her mind spoke again: “Are you looking for me?”
…!
Si Yu almost swore out loud, and she nervously glanced around again.
“Don’t be afraid. I am your personal system. You can call me Little B.” The voice in her head said in an emotionless, soothing tone.
Si Yu slowly calmed down, not because of what Little B said, but because she had read countless transmigration novels and was familiar with a thing called a “system,” so she wasn’t too surprised.
She patted her chest and said, “W-why did you just pop up out of nowhere?”
Little B: “I apologize. The system was updating its data earlier, and the update is now complete.”
Lu Xi didn’t know what was happening. She only heard Si Yu muttering to herself and asked, “What did you say?”
Si Yu suddenly remembered there was someone else in the room and said awkwardly, “Nothing.”
Lu Xi didn’t question her.
The pen was lying at Lu Xi’s feet. Lu Xi picked it up for her and handed it to her.
“Thanks.”
Si Yu subconsciously took it, uncapped the pen, and was about to write.
“You really can’t sign!” Little B yelled. The tone hadn’t changed, but the voice was urgent. “If you sign, you’ll have terrible luck!”
Si Yu froze and asked, “What do you mean by ‘terrible luck’?”
She didn’t say the words out loud, she just thought them, and Little B received the message.
Little B: “Your mission in this world is to maintain this marriage and win over Lu Xi, so she falls in love with you. If you sign, you will be punished.”
WTF???
She wasn’t allowed to divorce, and she had to make Lu Xi fall in love with her?!
Lu Xi and the original protagonist were supposed to have a happy and sweet ending. Was this system trying to make her the villain who broke up their relationship?!
Are you kidding me?!
This system must have malfunctioned during the update!
Si Yu took a deep breath and said to Little B with her mind, “I can’t do something so unethical.”
She picked up the pen again and neatly wrote the first character of her name, “Si,” on the signature line.
Little B quickly said again, “You will definitely regret it if you sign.”
Oh really? Si Yu let out a small laugh. She wanted to see what the consequences would be.
She then neatly wrote the second character, “Yu.”
After she finished signing, she heard Little B say, “Sigh—” inside her head.
Was it sighing for her? The dry electronic tone made her want to laugh.
“What are you laughing at?”
Si Yu couldn’t help but chuckle, and Lu Xi looked at her strangely.
The divorce agreement was signed, and no so-called punishment appeared. Si Yu shrugged and said, “Finally divorced. It makes me pretty happy.”
“Happy?” Lu Xi was full of suspicion. This woman was supposed to love her to death, but she was happy about getting a divorce?
Si Yu just thought that if they divorced sooner, Lu Xi and the original protagonist, Liang Yufei, could start dating openly. She felt like a good Samaritan and was very proud of herself.
There were three copies of the divorce agreement. After Si Yu signed, she handed the papers and the pen back to Lu Xi.
Lu Xi had expected it to be a hassle, so she was surprised that Si Yu signed so willingly. She glanced at her, took the agreement, confirmed the signature was correct, and said indifferently, “Come to the civil affairs bureau tomorrow morning to get the divorce certificate.”
“Okay,” Si Yu said with a smile.
Seeing the innocent, bright smile on her face, Lu Xi frowned.
This woman was acting too strange today.
