The Whole World Wants Them to Get a Divorce - Chapter 26.2
After the phone call, Si Yu was inexplicably irritated. She couldn’t focus on reading her script at all. Her mind was filled with everything Lu Xi had said on the phone.
She thought Lu Xi had finally come to her senses and wanted to go on a date. She had even imagined them wearing beautiful gowns, sitting in a fancy western restaurant, listening to romantic violin music, and looking into each other’s eyes across a candlelit table…
Forget about that stupid date.
Si Yu wasn’t mad. She felt like she had no right to be mad.
They both had impure motives. Lu Xi wanted to please her grandmother, and she wanted to conquer Lu Xi. They were two of a kind. Neither of them had the right to blame the other.
She should be thankful that Lu Xi had been so direct. At least she didn’t have to be narcissistic and think that her charm had melted the iceberg.
She turned down the date and hung up on Lu Xi, not because she was trying to be difficult, but because she suddenly felt exhausted. She didn’t want to act anymore and pretend to be someone she wasn’t. She didn’t want to make things difficult for herself either.
She felt a little down and a little restless. The two emotions were squeezing against each other in her chest.
Before she could shake off these negative feelings, the director called her over to film.
Chen Shuang was a punk in high school. She was always talking back to teachers and getting into fights with other female punks. She often got into group fights with the male lead, Zhang Yang.
Si Yu was acting as if she were venting her feelings today. She was more invested in her acting than she had been in the past few days. When the director called for a break, she still hadn’t broken out of character.
Xia Xia came over to give her some water and was startled. “A-are you okay, Si Yu?” she asked.
“I’m fine,” Si Yu said, hiding the hostility on her face. She took the water and took a sip.
The staff started serving dinner. Si Yu didn’t have an appetite. She picked up her phone to check the time.
It was a little after 6 PM, less than an hour before the time Lu Xi had said.
Si Yu smiled faintly. She put her phone back in her bag and covered her face with the script, pretending to take a nap.
In a daze, Xia Xia patted her arm.
The script fell from her face. Si Yu didn’t catch it. She opened her eyes and saw Liang Yufei walking toward her.
Liang Yufei had stopped eating dinner to lose weight. She held her script and walked over with a smile. “Si Yu, do you have time? I want to practice with you,” she said.
Liang Yufei absolutely despised Si Yu. Since she joined the crew, she had never once gone up to Si Yu to practice. But the director had said that the next scene would be very difficult to act. It had a lot of lines and a lot of emotional changes. He had told her to practice with Si Yu.
To maintain her kind and approachable persona, Liang Yufei had to go up to her, even if she didn’t want to.
Liang Yufei knew that Si Yu hated her, too. If Si Yu refused, that would be great! Not only would she not have to deal with this woman, but she could also use it to her advantage and let everyone know that Si Yu was a difficult person to work with, which would make everyone dislike her!
Unfortunately, her plan didn’t work out.
Si Yu picked up the script and brushed off the dust. “Sure,” she said straightforwardly.
Liang Yufei’s smile froze.
As a professional actress, Si Yu would never let her personal feelings interfere with her work. She openly accepted Liang Yufei’s invitation.
Everyone else hadn’t finished eating yet. Si Yu pointed her chin to a shady spot. “It’s a little noisy here. Let’s go over there,” she said.
Liang Yufei had her own agenda. When they were far enough away that no one could hear them, she said, “It’s Valentine’s Day today. Why didn’t Lu Xi have someone send you flowers?”
Si Yu was flipping through her script. She looked up and gave her a half-smile. “Why would she send flowers? We’re an old married couple. I prefer money. She just transferred 520,000 yuan to me. You know what that means, right? Oh, it’s just a small red envelope. You don’t have to be jealous.”
Liang Yufei’s mouth twitched. “Why don’t you say she transferred 5,200,000 yuan to you!” she retorted.
Si Yu rolled her eyes. “There’s a transfer limit, you idiot,” she said.
“You!” Liang Yufei was so angry that she forgot to hide her true feelings. Since no one could hear them, she said angrily, “Stop bragging! You and Lu Xi are only married by contract. She doesn’t like you at all! Sooner or later, she’s going to divorce you. You can’t tie her down. She doesn’t belong to you!”
Si Yu narrowed her eyes and looked at her. She said unhurriedly, “If she doesn’t belong to me, then does she belong to you?”
She was originally mine! You evil villainess, stop trying to steal her from me! Liang Yufei was screaming in her head.
Si Yu watched as Liang Yufei’s pure and innocent face slowly became distorted. She chuckled eerily. Before Liang Yufei could react, she put her hand on her shoulder and pushed her against a tree trunk.
“What are you doing?” Liang Yufei’s face turned pale. She instinctively tried to push her away, but Si Yu’s thin arms were like iron bars. She couldn’t move her at all!
“Are you scared that I’ll hit you?” Si Yu looked at her as she struggled in vain.
Liang Yufei’s forehead was covered in a layer of sweat. She was cold and hot at the same time.
Thinking about Si Yu’s character in the novel, an evil villainess who had tried to kill the female lead multiple times, Liang Yufei was genuinely terrified. Her heart was racing. Her eyes darted around. When she saw the people eating in the break area, she felt a little more confident. “There are so many people watching. I don’t believe you would dare!” she said shakily.
Si Yu really wouldn’t dare. She just wanted to scare her.
Just scaring her wasn’t enough to relieve the two conflicting emotions in her heart.
Si Yu leaned forward and whispered into her ear, “You like Lu Xi, don’t you?”
Liang Yufei’s eyes flickered. She stammered, “You’re… you’re talking nonsense.”
“Why are you still denying it? You had Lu Wei convince Lu Xi to divorce me. You want to marry Lu Xi. I already know all of this.” Seeing how tense she was, Si Yu gave her a malicious smile. She reached out her hand, held her chin, and said flirtatiously, “I just realized you’re actually quite pretty.”
Liang Yufei wanted to push her hand away, but Si Yu pinched her chin hard.
Liang Yufei winced in pain. She was worried that this evil woman would pull out a knife and slice her face. Her voice was frantic. “If you don’t let go, I’m going to call for help!” she said.
“Shh—” Si Yu leaned in. “Don’t be loud. Let me have a good look,” she said softly.
“…”
After observing her for a few seconds, Si Yu smiled with satisfaction. “You are pretty. You’ve made my heart flutter,” she said.
Her heart fluttered?
Liang Yufei’s eyes widened.
“How about I divorce Lu Xi and become your sugar daddy instead?” Si Yu said to herself. “I have 15% of the shares in Guangying, and I have hundreds of millions in my bank account. If you want to act, I’ll give you resources. If there are no resources, I’ll invest in a show for you to be in. Lu Xi has about the same amount of assets as me. She’s just a little bit prettier than me. Being that pretty is useless. She’s cold and boring. You’re better off with me.”
Liang Yufei was in a daze. It took her a long time to process what Si Yu had just said. She said dully, “You want to be my sugar daddy?”
Si Yu winked at her. She blew a puff of air into her ear and said temptingly, “That’s right. I’ll be your sugar daddy. You can be my mistress. As long as you’re obedient, I can give you anything you want. Think about it?”
Liang Yufei subconsciously swallowed.
If she hadn’t read the novel and known that Si Yu was an evil villainess who was rotten to the core and wanted to grind the female lead to dust, Liang Yufei would have fallen for it.
This woman wasn’t just evil. She was crazy!
Liang Yufei used all her strength to push her away. Her face was flushed. “Dream on!” she said through gritted teeth.
Si Yu crossed her arms and gave her a cold smile. She said pointedly, “You hesitated just now. Do you dare to say that your heart didn’t flutter?”
“…” Liang Yufei was embarrassed that she had been caught. She was speechless for a moment.
When Lu Xi arrived at the set, she saw Si Yu pressing Liang Yufei against a tree trunk. Their bodies were very close, as if they were talking about something private.
The sky was clear. The sun was setting.
Lu Xi stopped under a camphor tree. The leaves on top of her head were lush and vibrant green.
Qian Lei was the first to spot Lu Xi. He patted the grass off his butt and quickly walked over. “Ms. Lu, are you here to visit?” he asked in surprise.
Lu Xi’s eyes moved away from the two people who were standing in a too-intimate way. She looked at Qian Lei. “I came to take a look,” she said calmly.
Lu Xi, a stunning beauty and the CEO and investor of Guangying, caused a stir as soon as she arrived. A group of people eagerly gathered around her.
Lu Xi hated dealing with these kinds of situations. She rubbed her forehead. “You all go back to work. Don’t delay filming. Don’t worry about me,” she said.
Qian Lei had met her a few times. He knew that she didn’t like small talk. “We’re about to start filming. You can sit next to me and watch later,” he said.
Lu Xi nodded slightly. She subconsciously looked toward Si Yu.
Qian Lei also looked over there. He raised his voice. “Si Yu, Yufei, stop practicing and come over here!”
Si Yu saw Lu Xi when she got closer. She was stunned and then subtly turned her head away.
Lu Xi saw that she was deliberately walking past her. Her lips moved, and then she closed them.
Liang Yufei was still consumed with anger and shame from being played by Si Yu. She was glaring at Si Yu’s back, silently torturing her in her mind. She was startled when she suddenly saw Lu Xi. Her heart skipped a beat. “Lu Xi!” she exclaimed.
Lu Xi looked at her expressionlessly and nodded.
Liang Yufei was overjoyed that she didn’t correct her use of her name. She wanted to say more to her.
“Yufei, come over here now. I’m going to talk to you about the scene,” Qian Lei called her over.
Liang Yufei had no choice but to suppress the emotions in her heart. She gave Lu Xi a sweet smile and a wave, then skipped over to the filming area.
Lu Xi finally came!
With Lu Xi watching and acting in a scene with Si Yu, Liang Yufei couldn’t slack off. She put her full attention into it. When the director called “action,” she completely immersed herself in the role.
Liang Yufei had never been this serious about a scene. Although her natural and fluid acting was from the original female lead, she just wanted to do a good job. She wanted to show Lu Xi her strengths!
Today wasn’t just the Qixi Festival; it was also the day Liang Yufei had been waiting for.
In the novel, Lu Xi also came to visit the set today. She saved the female lead from almost being crushed by a camera, fell in love with her, and their relationship began from that moment on!
Liang Yufei had been looking forward to this all day, from morning to night. She thought Lu Xi wouldn’t show up, but she did, just as it was written in the novel!
My chance has finally come!
The conflict in Si Yu and Liang Yufei’s scene was very intense. Both of their characters had a lot of lines. To achieve a better visual effect, Qian Lei requested a one-shot take.
This scene was very difficult to act. Qian Lei thought it would take a dozen takes, but to his surprise, both actresses did an excellent job. They got the shot he wanted in just four takes. He excitedly stood up. “Great! Actors, take a ten-minute break. We’re getting ready to change scenes,” he said.
After he said that, Qian Lei turned to Lu Xi. “Ms. Lu, we’re going to film a night scene. I need to go guide them on how to set up the cameras,” he said.
“Go ahead,” Lu Xi said. She stood up. She spotted Si Yu in the crowd and started walking toward her.
“Lu Xi.” Liang Yufei blocked Lu Xi’s path. She lowered her head, looking a little shy. “I want to talk to you for a bit. Can we go over there?” she asked softly.
Lu Xi’s eyes were still on Si Yu. “Sorry, I have something to do,” she said.
“Hey, Lu Xi—”
Lu Xi didn’t even look at her.
“Si Yu.”
A cool, familiar voice came from behind her. Si Yu’s back stiffened. She slowly turned around. “Hello, Ms. Lu,” she said.
“…I have something to say to you. Let’s go over there,” Lu Xi said, pointing to the same place Liang Yufei had suggested. There was no one there. It was a good place to talk.
Si Yu hesitated for a moment. Then she smiled brightly. “Okay,” she said.
The two of them walked to an area below a crane.
It was noisy all around, but it was so quiet in this area that they could hear each other’s breathing.
The heat radiated between the two of them. The atmosphere was a little tense.
Si Yu thought Lu Xi had already gone back. She didn’t expect her to come to the set.
They hadn’t fought on the phone, but the conversation wasn’t a pleasant one. Si Yu felt a strange awkwardness. She avoided Lu Xi’s gaze and looked elsewhere. “What do you want to talk about?” she asked.
Lu Xi looked down at her. “I’m sorry,” she said.
Si Yu thought she had misheard her. She turned her head toward her and was about to speak, but she saw something coming straight for the back of her head. Her face changed.
“Look out!”
Si Yu lunged toward her.
“Thud—” The heavy object fell directly on top of them.
Si Yu’s vision went black.
A second before she fainted, Si Yu only had time to ask her system in her mind, “I just played the hero and saved her. Do you think she’ll fall madly in love with me now?”
