The Wife Insists On Being My Top - Chapter 34
Approximately at 10 AM, Lu Xiuchun, Jiang Jinqiu, and Director Zhang entered the scenic area.
The person in charge of the scenic area reception was a section chief from a tourism company. Throughout the walk to the tea room, the section chief introduced the scenic area’s long history, abundant and precious natural resources, the number of rare animals and plants, the fact that the trees were taller than in ordinary mountain forests, and the air was rich and pure in oxygen, “It’s a natural oxygen bar, it’s a pity it hasn’t been discovered by the public!”
The others echoed, also asking a few relevant questions. Lu Xiuchun looked around at the greenery, but her expression didn’t change much.
The specific details of the scenic area had been written in detail in the PPT a few days ago, but they were repeated orally. After the others finished speaking, she looked at the section chief, “Section Chief Zhao, the PPT you gave us doesn’t seem to mention the ticket price. How much are the tickets here?”
“This…” The section chief looked embarrassed. “Because our scenic area has insufficient traffic all year round, the tickets are a bit expensive?”
Jiang Jinqiu also looked at the section chief. “How expensive can they be?”
“One hundred and twenty…”
“One hundred and twenty?! No wonder there’s no one here.”
“It’s not that simple, President Jiang. If we don’t raise the ticket price, our scenic area can’t operate at all!”
Because there were no people, the ticket price was raised. Because the ticket price was high, even fewer people were willing to come. The scenic area had been gradually declining in this vicious cycle for many years, and in recent years, it had only been able to get funding from the government based on the precious natural resources in the mountains.
When they arrived at the tea room, the group didn’t continue to discuss this issue in depth, but instead drank tea and complimented each other. Eventually, the topic shifted from humanities and history to romance. Lu Xiuchun found it boring and suggested going hiking, using the excuse of: getting close to nature.
There were two routes to the top of the mountain. To avoid being bothered by Jiang Jinqiu, she decided to change routes with Section Chief Zhao halfway up the mountain and split up.
The first part of the mountain road was very steep, and the mountain was humid, so the rocks were covered in moss, making them slippery. The cannon fodder had just followed them secretly and almost slipped and fell.
She cried out and grabbed a tree on the side.
“Are you okay?” A kind person asked her.
“I’m fine, I’m fine.” She waved her hand and covered her face, noticing out of the corner of her eye that the female lead seemed to be looking over.
She didn’t dare to look up until a while later, only to see that the female lead had already walked a distance with several people in sportswear.
She hurriedly chased after them.
As for physical strength, the cannon fodder, although she never exercised, was very confident. After all, even though she was a supporting character, she was still the female lead’s scum wife in the book. She shouldn’t be weaker than the female lead.
But reality was cruel. In less than five minutes, she was already panting heavily.
Ten minutes, her legs were shaking.
Half an hour, she was doubting her life.
Forty-five minutes, she wanted to slide down the stairs while holding onto the railing.
She watched the female lead and the second female lead’s backs getting further and further away, like watching them leave her, hand in hand, to create a better future.
She was unwilling, but she was powerless.
“Forget it, forget it… I’m not climbing anymore… She… she can do whatever she wants… She can be angry… She can go back to her parents’ house… I’m not…”
“Excuse me.”
The stairs were narrow, and someone urged her to move after she rested for a while. She apologized and went to sit on a hidden stone bench by the stairs.
As soon as she sat down, sweat poured out of her body. She was hot all over. Fortunately, the autumn was cool, and the mountain breeze blew on her face, reviving her.
She closed her eyes and enjoyed the surrounding rustling sounds, which were soft and slow.
Before long, the surroundings suddenly became quiet.
She opened her eyes in dissatisfaction, seeing the female lead blocking the autumn wind for her with her body. “You’ll catch a cold if you get blown by the wind after strenuous exercise. Drink some water first.”
The female lead lowered her head and handed her water. Because she was facing the light, she couldn’t see the female lead’s face clearly. At first glance, she only felt that the female lead seemed to be covered in a lingering and elegant green, faintly enveloping her, and the green was still swaying gently with the wind.
She took the water blankly. “Why are you…”
“You’re an idiot who doesn’t know to wear hiking shoes when climbing a mountain. You might as well fall to your death.”
“…”
“What are you standing there for? Drink some water!”
“Oh, okay.”
She gulped down two big mouthfuls. “What if I want to go to the bathroom later?”
“Hold it in.”
