To Covet (GL) - Chapter 180
Afterword
I have a little, little, little bit I want to say now that it’s over.
To be honest, I started drafting this afterword while I was still writing the plot. I thought about being all sentimental and making everyone cry, but now that the day of the finale has finally arrived, all I can do is calmly type out the last sentence and hit “send.” That’s all.
This story began with a single sentence. Truly, just one sentence. One day, a sudden thought struck me: I want to try writing a “forbidden” (sibling) romance. S1M0 is too boring; I want to write S0M1.
And so, I started writing.
I didn’t even bother with an outline. I tried writing a few plot points midway through, but as soon as the pen hit the paper, I just let myself run wild. This led to me having to go back and edit or “patch” the story every now and then. Small patches, of course! (˃ ⌑ ˂ഃ )
At first, I just wanted to slack off and write twenty or thirty thousand words for fun. Then I thought, I should finish the story properly. So, to bridge one plot point, I’d end up adding tons of supplementary material. It went from a hundred thousand to two hundred thousand words, spiraling out of control. The characters eventually moved beyond my control; they have their own lives and thoughts now, and they simply use my pen to express themselves.
As for the plot and character interpretations—everyone has their own take. I won’t over-explain my own understanding here. However you see them is fine, just please don’t bash the characters! (。・ˇ_ˇ・。:)
Even though both my daughters have flawed personalities, as their “mother,” I’m still protective of them. After all, we’ve spent over two years together. Yu Keyi, Yu Zhouwan—I am the primary witness to your relationship!
Oh, speaking of two years, many readers have been here since the very beginning of the serialization. Whether you followed it consistently or not, I want to say a heartfelt thank-you. You’ve worked hard; following a serialization isn’t easy, especially with an author whose updates are… unstable, haha. I hope my habits didn’t ruin your reading experience.
I’m begging you… (ノДT)
Anyway, it’s finished! Completely! Claps, claps.
Even though it wasn’t a perfectly smooth ride, I think I did pretty great, hahaha. I’ve never written a story this long before! So many things happened in my real life during this time that caused me to stop and set it aside repeatedly, but in the end, I brought it to a satisfying conclusion.
This has been the freest yet most rocky book of my writing journey, and it’s the one that has left me with the most feelings at its end. I hope all my future writing inspirations go smoothly.
Finally, they still have a very long story ahead of them, but I won’t dwell on it. As for the extra chapters (sidestories), I’ll just go with the flow and won’t pressure myself to churn them out. (❁´ω`❁) Basically, I’ll treat them like little “snacks” whenever I have time.
I actually thought of many, many versions for the ending of this book. This one is the final version, and the one I’m most satisfied with. (◦˙▽˙◦) I’ll organize the other two different endings and post them as extras for you to see. (๑´∀`๑)
Now, here is the important part:
Don’t just leave after you finish reading!
I have other stories too! QAQ (Though I’m still working hard on them and they haven’t been “born” yet. This time, I hope my life goes smoothly so I can finish writing without getting stuck.)
I hope so, anyway. 🙂
And one more thing: I’m not very good at “maintaining a public persona.” Life and work are busy, so my mental state fluctuates. Just enjoy the story—don’t pay too much attention to my chaotic daily life. I’m not an interesting person. Please separate the author from the book (emphasized).
If my words gave you something to look forward to or touched you in some way, it is my greatest honor. If you liked it, please leave a comment about the plot or the characters.
Anyway, thank you for the company. See you in the next book! And the book after that! Yes, I love making big promises. ( ‘-ωก̀ )
Alright, that’s the end. I don’t know which famous person said this, but I’ll quote it:
“I want to write Yuri (Girls’ Love) novels for another fifty years!”
Exactly how many years… uh… fifty or eighty… I forgot, but you get the idea.
I hope you, who are seeing this, can feel happy.
