Transmigrated as the Cannon Fodder Marked by the Villain (GL) - Chapter 14
“Put on your seatbelt.”
Seeing that Ruan Jiyan couldn’t move her hands, Fu Qingyun leaned close to her and fastened her seatbelt with one hand.
The faint, pleasant scent of red wine struck again, but this time Ruan Jiyan wasn’t so repulsed; instead, she found the scent sweet.
Her eyes held a complex emotion that Fu Qingyun didn’t notice. She smoothed the strand of hair that had fallen across Ruan Jiyan’s chest and smiled at her.
“Are you hungry? I’ll take you out to eat something.”
Fu Qingyun usually liked to cook her own meals, but it was already noon, and nothing in the kitchen was prepared, nor was the meat in the freezer thawed. So, the best option now was to take Ruan Jiyan to a restaurant.
“I’m not very hungry…”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Fu Qingyun heard an embarrassing sound ring out. Ruan Jiyan looked at her own stomach with an awkward expression, blinked, and chuckled: “It’s hungry.”
She has two sides to her personality?
Fu Qingyun struggled to hold back a smile. After spending two days with Ruan Jiyan, she realized that this person was the type to suffer for the sake of appearances and was often insincere.
She was like a large white cat Fu Qingyun used to own: precious and reserved, occasionally trying to scratch her, but then, after enjoying the owner’s service, would rub against her and lick her with its tongue as a form of comfort.
Fu Qingyun didn’t think the latter description fit Ruan Jiyan, but the former was her exact portrait.
However, Fu Qingyun wasn’t sure if this person would secretly turn on her, so she still needed to be wary at all times. Otherwise, she might not survive until the day she left this world.
But then again, she couldn’t be so heavily guarded against Ruan Jiyan. What if the other party never intended to harm her or betray her? Wouldn’t she be judging a virtuous person by her own small-mindedness?
“Where should we go for lunch?”
Fu Qingyun knew nothing about the shopping malls and restaurants in the area. She looked at the navigation system without any clue. Realizing Ruan Jiyan was the true “local,” she asked:
“There are many restaurants nearby. Take a look and see which one is good.”
The choice was in Ruan Jiyan’s hands. If she remembered correctly, a car accident would occur at the intersection of Ning’an Road and Ninghuai Road this afternoon, and this accident was the best opportunity to eliminate Fu Qingyun.
Ruan Jiyan remembered it so clearly because she was a partial victim of the accident, nearly crushed into meat paste by an oncoming large truck.
The horrifying scene was vivid in her memory. Fine beads of sweat began to appear on Ruan Jiyan’s forehead, and her breathing became uneven.
She quickly calmed herself down and took a deep breath.
“This Lemon Tree Themed Restaurant looks great.”
And it was very close to the intersection—a perfect spot.
Ruan Jiyan subtly glanced at Fu Qingyun. She parted her pink lips, her voice soft:
“Sister, let’s go eat there.”
Fu Qingyun simply couldn’t resist Ruan Jiyan’s “coquetry.” She felt like King Zhou, who had been bewitched by Daji. As long as she was with Ruan Jiyan, no matter what the other person requested, she had to fulfill it.
Even though the other party wasn’t forcing her, merely opening her mouth in a gentle voice, she was completely led by the nose, unable to utter a single word of rebuttal.
Was it truly because she was too good-tempered?
Or was it because of the debt she owed Ruan Jiyan?
Fu Qingyun cast aside the chaotic thoughts in her mind. Since her mission here was to save the female lead, and 419 allowed her free rein, why not just pour her heart out to Ruan Jiyan every day?
She didn’t believe Ruan Jiyan’s heart was made of stone, completely unmoved by her kindness and sincerity.
“Here?”
Lemon Tree Themed Restaurant, it sounded decent.
Fu Qingyun turned on the navigation and drove Ruan Jiyan to the destination.
During winter break, these kinds of restaurants were usually quite popular. When Fu Qingyun led Ruan Jiyan into the Lemon Tree, she saw couples entering and exiting, and only then realized that the restaurant Ruan Jiyan chose was a couple’s restaurant.
“Two ladies, please follow me.”
The waiter led the two of them to a relatively “secret” corner. He saw Fu Qingyun constantly wrapping her arm carefully around Ruan Jiyan and said with a chuckle, “This is a couple’s restaurant. If you’re a genuine couple, your food is half-price, and we can also take a free couple’s photo for you.”
A genuine couple?
How do they determine who is a genuine couple and who is a fake one?
Fu Qingyun was about to ask when she saw two girls at the next table kissing and cuddling. She immediately looked at Ruan Jiyan with a look of surprise.
Ruan Jiyan’s face didn’t show much emotion, but Fu Qingyun keenly noticed that the tips of her ears were red.
“We are…”
“I’m her Sister. We are not a couple.”
It was the first time the waiter had encountered such a situation. An Alpha and an Omega, holding hands and hugging shoulders, come to a couple’s restaurant but insist they aren’t a couple. You live and you learn.
Fu Qingyun awkwardly smoothed the hair by her ear. She saw Ruan Jiyan lowering her head, so she handed her the menu and said:
“No need for the half-price, thank you.”
The waiter instantly saw through Fu Qingyun’s clumsy lie. He stood by, watching the customers order, and observed the way the two looked at each other.
A deeply affectionate Alpha and a delicate Omega—the waiter wouldn’t believe they weren’t a couple.
“See if there’s anything you want to eat.”
Ruan Jiyan still didn’t look up at Fu Qingyun. Since her hands were injured, she read the items to the waiter one word at a time.
“And a serving of vegetable soup,” Fu Qingyun said with a smile, “I ordered that specially for you, to replenish your vitamins.”
The waiter couldn’t bear to watch the two of them being so gooey. After confirming the order, he left with the menu and immediately told the counter to give that table of “couples” the half-price discount.
“Sister.”
Ruan Jiyan looked up, a blush appearing on her cheeks, and her lips were much redder than usual.
“What is it?”
“I made a mistake. I didn’t know this was a couple’s restaurant.”
Looking at Ruan Jiyan apologizing to her, Fu Qingyun suppressed the urge to reach out and stroke the top of her head. She smiled and said, “There’s nothing to apologize for. It’s just a restaurant.”
“But, we don’t have that kind of relationship…”
Ruan Jiyan said this, and Fu Qingyun clearly understood that the other party wanted to draw a line between them. She licked her lips and then said, “Then we’ll leave after we eat. I’ll be careful in the future and won’t let anyone misunderstand again.”
“Mm.”
Ruan Jiyan’s order arrived quickly, along with a bowl of vegetable soup that Fu Qingyun had specially added for her.
“Sister, my hands…”
She raised her injured hands with a troubled expression, looking forlornly at Fu Qingyun.
“I can’t eat.”
Fu Qingyun almost forgot that Ruan Jiyan’s hands were injured. She picked up the knife and fork, cut a piece of beef, and smiled, asking the other party to open her mouth: “Ah, I’ll feed you.”
Ruan Jiyan originally didn’t want Fu Qingyun to feed her, feeling a little awkward, but her hands were immobilized. Since this person was willing, she might as well just enjoy it.
She opened her mouth without hesitation and ate all the food Fu Qingyun fed her.
The restaurant was nice, although almost every table was occupied by couples.
Ruan Jiyan ate slowly, with a refined elegance that Fu Qingyun found to be an unparalleled visual pleasure.
“Drink some vegetable soup.”
Fu Qingyun held the spoon and said, “I’ll feed you, or it will get cold.”
She took a small sip of the vegetable soup Fu Qingyun had specially ordered. The taste was quite good, just right to cut through the richness of the main course.
Lunch was finished. Seeing that the time was approaching, Ruan Jiyan’s eyes darkened.
Then she smiled at Fu Qingyun:
“Sister, I want ice cream.”
Fu Qingyun followed the direction Ruan Jiyan was pointing. There was an ice cream shop right at the intersection. The facade was decorated in soft pinks, clearly designed to appeal to young girls.
“Then you wait here for me, and I’ll go buy you one.”
“Okay,” Ruan Jiyan concealed the darkness in her heart. She curved her lips and nodded: “Sister, I want strawberry flavor.”
