Transmigrated as the Cannon Fodder Marked by the Villain (GL) - Chapter 24
Song Nanyan observed from nearby for quite a while. Though she didn’t hear a single word, she was certain that the female Omega kneeling on the floor was harassing Ruan Jiyan.
Upholding the principle of “best sisters for life,” Song Nanyan finally couldn’t hold back and prepared to step forward to help Ruan Jiyan out of the predicament.
“Jiang Qi, do you really have no shame, kneeling in front of me like that?”
Ruan Jiyan’s pure and beautiful face was full of smiles, which instantly evoked a strong sense of shame in Jiang Qi. She knew that the video of her groveling to Ruan Jiyan had been taken by bystanders and that once the video was spread in the upper circles, not only would she be humiliated, but Ruan Jiyan would also be subject to rumors.
“Heh heh, Ruan Jiyan, I’m humiliated, but you won’t be much better off.”
“Is that so?”
Ruan Jiyan remained seated, crossing her legs, smiling and drinking her coffee, completely disregarding Jiang Qi.
At this moment, Jiang Qi was like a clown in Ruan Jiyan’s eyes. However, staring at the red-faced, infuriated Omega, it was not an exaggeration to call her a rabid dog.
Ruan Jiyan had long seen through this tactic of damaging herself to inflict a minor injury on the enemy, but she didn’t care.
She had died once. For Ruan Jiyan, doing things that prioritized “saving face” over everything else was simply foolish.
“Then keep kneeling. What do you think Fu Qingyun will think if she sees those videos?”
Jiang Qi’s mind went blank. She had only heard from others that Fu Qingyun was temperamental and absolutely hated betrayal, deceit, and having her possessions snatched away.
“You look truly good hugging my thigh,” Ruan Jiyan shook her lower leg, smiling: “You know Fu Qingyun is jealous. If she sees a video of you and me being intimate, what do you think she’ll do?”
Jiang Qi sneered when she heard this: “How are you so sure Fu Qingyun won’t take her anger out on you?”
“Who am I to her, and who are you to her?”
Ruan Jiyan found it amusing. She put down her coffee cup and tilted her head innocently: “She only listens to me.”
These words were like a poisoned needle piercing Jiang Qi’s heart. At this moment, she resembled a deflated balloon, kneeling on the ground, completely dejected.
It was only when Song Nanyan walked over and stood in front of Ruan Jiyan that things changed.
“Who are you?”
Song Nanyan looked at Ruan Jiyan’s sharp eyes, and her tone instantly softened:
“Fu Qingyun asked me to come and protect you.”
Jiang Qi was now terrified just hearing the name “Fu Qingyun.” Ruan Jiyan was about to speak, but Jiang Qi suddenly scrambled up from the floor like a madwoman, grabbing a steak knife from the table and lunging to stab Ruan Jiyan.
Song Nanyan watched helplessly as Ruan Jiyan pushed her away. The sharp knife plunged directly into Ruan Jiyan’s shoulder.
When Fu Qingyun drove to the hospital, the doctor was suturing Ruan Jiyan’s wound.
Ruan Jiyan was unconscious under anesthesia. Fu Qingyun quietly stayed by her side without saying a word.
Song Nanyan stood to the side, unsure what to say, but in her heart, she had already decided Ruan Jiyan was her life-saver.
“Yun’er, don’t worry. She’s fine now.”
Fu Qingyun should never have allowed Ruan Jiyan to meet Jiang Qi alone. She honestly hadn’t expected Jiang Qi to suddenly go mad and stab her with a knife. If Fu Qingyun had foreseen this earlier, Ruan Jiyan wouldn’t have been hurt.
She looked at the location of the wound on Ruan Jiyan’s shoulder. Thankfully, it had shifted slightly upward. If it had pierced her heart, Ruan Jiyan would have been beyond saving.
“Nanyan, why are you back?”
The quiet ward was not the place for conversation. After seeing that Ruan Jiyan was temporarily out of danger, Fu Qingyun pulled Song Nanyan out.
The hospital corridor had a strong smell of disinfectant. Fu Qingyun mentally noted Song Nanyan’s appearance, then listened as the other woman spoke:
“My dad is failing, so I’ve come back to inherit the family fortune.”
Another CEO.
Fu Qingyun’s right foot couldn’t support her for long. She sat down, limping slightly, and smiled: “Haven’t seen you in years, and you’re even more beautiful.”
“Of course, who do you think I am?”
Song Nanyan belatedly realized that Fu Qingyun was limping. She immediately asked: “Yun’er, what happened to your foot? Did you get hurt?”
“I accidentally twisted it. It’s almost healed.”
“You poor thing.”
Song Nanyan recalled the image of Fu Qingyun sprinting down the hospital corridor in flats just moments ago, and she knew how important Ruan Jiyan was in her heart.
“I saw Ruan Jiyan’s car parked outside the restaurant earlier. That’s yours, isn’t it?”
Song Nanyan had coveted that car for a long time, but Fu Qingyan eventually bought it as a birthday gift.
“I let her drive it.”
This statement carried a huge amount of information, and Song Nanyan was momentarily stunned.
“Wait, you let her drive it?”
“Yeah.”
Now it was Song Nanyan’s turn to be confused.
“What is your relationship?”
This was the question Song Nanyan was most eager to ask.
“We… have no relationship.”
“Really?”
Song Nanyan looked unconvinced. She scrutinized Fu Qingyun like she was interrogating a criminal: “Tell me the truth. Did you finally get the girl?”
“I did not. We are just ordinary friends.”
“Do you think I’m stupid? Is that car something you lend casually to an ‘ordinary friend’?”
Song Nanyan put her hands on her hips, looking down at her: “Confess immediately!”
“We really are just ordinary friends, believe me.”
Fu Qingyun’s explanation was weak and pale. Her relationship with Ruan Jiyan was easily misinterpreted, but the reality was completely different.
Seeing Song Nanyan’s “caught in the act” look, Fu Qingyun rolled her eyes at her.
“How long have we been friends? Don’t you really believe me?”
Song Nanyan shook her head.
Fine. Fu Qingyun was out of options. Since Song Nanyan was already convinced she was involved with Ruan Jiyan, she would wait for Ruan Jiyan to wake up and explain in front of her.
After the anesthesia wore off, Ruan Jiyan opened her eyes in pain, fine beads of sweat breaking out on her forehead.
Fu Qingyun heard the sound in the ward and reflexively stood up, pushing the door open and rushing inside.
Song Nanyan shrugged helplessly: Keep being stubborn, let’s see how long you can keep it up.
“Sister…”
Ruan Jiyan’s voice was hoarse. The first person she saw when she woke up was Fu Qingyun.
This was a subconscious human response, and it was at this moment that she felt a reliance on Fu Qingyun.
“Jiyan, you’re awake!”
Fu Qingyun knew she must be in pain, so she stepped forward and comforted her softly: “Don’t move, okay? Your wound has just been stitched. If you move and it splits open, it will hurt even more.”
Ruan Jiyan hummed an acknowledgment through her nose. She stared unblinkingly at Fu Qingyun, who was pouring her water, and spoke in a raspy voice:
“Sister, I’m in so much pain.”
