Transmigrated as the Cannon Fodder Marked by the Villain (GL) - Chapter 25
“I’ll go get you some painkillers.”
Fu Qingyun said this and left to fetch the medicine for Ruan Jiyan. Now, only Song Nanyan and Ruan Jiyan remained in the hospital room.
“Pretty girl, let me ask you something.”
When Song Nanyan thought of the way Fu Qingyun rushed out to get the medicine, she couldn’t contain her curiosity. She absolutely had to get a clear answer, or she wouldn’t be able to eat today.
Ruan Jiyan’s face was pale. She didn’t recognize the female Alpha in front of her, and judging by her demeanor, she had a good relationship with Fu Qingyun. Her heart immediately sank.
It was rumored that Fu Qingyun was someone who pursued both Omegas and Alphas. Ruan Jiyan had never witnessed it, but today she did.
Her gaze scanned the mature and sexy Song Nanyan up and down, and an unknown surge of anger rose in her heart.
Fu Qingyun lied to her. Fu Qingyun said she never flirted with other Omegas or Alphas.
“Mhm.”
Ruan Jiyan suppressed her anger and nodded.
“What is your relationship with Fu Qingyun?”
Ruan Jiyan knew this female Alpha would ask this, and she probably intended to assert dominance soon.
Before she could speak, the other woman impatiently asked, “Are you her girlfriend?”
“Mhm.”
Ruan Jiyan nodded an instantaneous “Mhm.” She was constantly observing the expression on the female Alpha’s face and finally saw a look of annoyance.
“Oh, that Fu Qingyun! She was totally lying to me!”
Song Nanyan stomped her foot, and the sound of her high heels echoed. Ruan Jiyan closed her eyes and didn’t speak again.
It was as expected. Fu Qingyun…
You lied to me.
She shouldn’t have believed this woman’s mouth full of lies. Fu Qingyun sweetly coaxed her with flattery while cozying up to a sexy beauty, and an Alpha at that. She truly was indiscriminate.
Both women misunderstood the other’s thoughts. Song Nanyan looked at Ruan Jiyan, who was lying pitifully in the hospital bed, and once again fully transferred her anger to Fu Qingyun.
That irresponsible Fu Qingyun! If she hadn’t asked Ruan Jiyan herself, she would still be in the dark.
Seeing Song Nanyan turn and walk out, slamming the door shut, Ruan Jiyan bit her lower lip, which was pale and cracked from blood loss, in frustration.
Fu Qingyun lied to her…
How dare Fu Qingyun lie to her…
A heart full of grievance mixed with intense jealousy rushed over Ruan Jiyan. She shouldn’t have pushed that female Alpha away just now. She should have let her take the knife for her.
“Fu Qingyun, look at the mess you’ve made.”
Song Nanyan found Fu Qingyun, who was holding the medicine, and immediately launched into a critique, leaving Fu Qingyun utterly confused.
“What did I do now?”
“You’re still denying you’re in a relationship with Ruan Jiyan. I just asked her.”
Fu Qingyun pushed the door open with one hand. After entering, she couldn’t resist poking Song Nanyan’s temple:
“Alright, my ancestor, calm down for a bit.”
Ruan Jiyan stared expressionlessly at the two people “flirting,” her hand in the blanket clenched into a fist.
“You’re utterly heartless!” (literally: to start something only to abandon it later)
Hearing the words “utterly heartless,” Ruan Jiyan completely lost her composure, and the knife wound on her shoulder hurt even more.
Song Nanyan had been in a few relationships, but she never hid them or claimed to have no relationship with the person, unlike Fu Qingyun.
She didn’t expect Fu Qingyun to change so much in the few years she was studying abroad. Song Nanyan was determined to teach her a lesson.
Although she and Ruan Jiyan had no prior connection, “love the house, love the crow.” Since she cared about Fu Qingyun, she naturally cared about Fu Qingyun’s partner. Moreover, Ruan Jiyan was innocent and lovely, looking completely trustworthy, unlike Fu Qingyun.
Song Nanyan once again started to suspect whether Fu Qingyun had forced herself upon Ruan Jiyan.
Fu Qingyun had no idea that she had become a sanctimonious hooligan in her best friend’s eyes. She approached Ruan Jiyan and fed her the painkiller.
When she went to get the medicine, the doctor told her that this painkiller could be chewed and swallowed directly by the patient, which was perfect for someone like Ruan Jiyan who couldn’t sit up.
Fu Qingyun watched Ruan Jiyan chew the pink pill and swallow it. Since the other person didn’t show any sign of discomfort, the painkiller must not be bitter.
“Sister, who is she?”
Ruan Jiyan looked at Fu Qingyun weakly. Although she was speaking about Song Nanyan, she didn’t turn her gaze toward her.
Because Ruan Jiyan spoke very softly, Song Nanyan couldn’t hear what she said to Fu Qingyun. Based on her guess, it was probably a mix of shock from the near-death experience and gratitude for Fu Qingyun accompanying her to the hospital.
Such a good Omega, and Fu Qingyun isn’t cherishing her.
“She’s my friend. She just returned from studying abroad. I’ll introduce her to you after you’re discharged.”
Ruan Jiyan was stunned to hear this. She had just been given anesthesia not long ago, her head was muzzy, and now she had taken the painkiller Fu Qingyun fed her. Her mind was in a complete fog, and she didn’t quite catch what Fu Qingyun said.
“I don’t want to…”
She was likely influenced by the medication. Her heart was filled with grievance, and she extended the arm with the IV drip toward Fu Qingyun.
“Jiyan, don’t move!”
Fu Qingyun pressed down on her wrist, carefully placing her hand flat on the blanket, and urged repeatedly: “You absolutely cannot move. If this needle is pulled out, it will hurt a lot.”
“Really?”
It was a rare sight to see Ruan Jiyan with such a confused and helpless expression. Fu Qingyun knew it was the effect of the medication, so she patiently explained, as if to a child:
“Yes. If the needle comes out, the nurse will have to come and stick you again.”
“Then I won’t move.”
Song Nanyan watched the touching scene of the two of them with understanding, then discreetly closed the door and left.
This medicine had a side effect: the person who took it would soon become drowsy. Fu Qingyun clearly saw Ruan Jiyan beginning to yawn; it looked like she was sleepy.
“Is Jiyan sleepy and wants to sleep now?”
Fu Qingyun’s voice was gentle and sweet. She placed the back of her hand on Ruan Jiyan’s forehead. She was running a slight fever, which was likely another side effect of the painkiller.
“Mhm.”
“Then go to sleep.”
Fu Qingyun thoughtfully tucked her in. She had just stood up, preparing to leave, when a soft voice called out to her.
“Sister, don’t go.”
That soft “Sister” tugged at Fu Qingyun’s heartstrings. She turned back and smiled gently at Ruan Jiyan, then pulled a chair next to the hospital bed.
“Alright. You sleep soundly. Sister won’t leave. Sister will sit here and keep you company.”
Ruan Jiyan nodded. She stared at Fu Qingyun’s face, refusing to close her eyes.
“Close your eyes,” Fu Qingyun thought Ruan Jiyan was afraid she would leave, so she said softly: “Sister promises you, I won’t go.”
Her heavy eyelids began to droop until Ruan Jiyan finally couldn’t resist and drifted into a deep sleep.
She had a long dream, but it was an endless nightmare.
Ruan Jiyan desperately ran forward, longing to escape the darkness she couldn’t wake up from.
Suddenly, a soft light appeared before her. A long-haired woman with a familiar figure stood there, her back to Ruan Jiyan.
Ruan Jiyan ran toward her as if she had found hope.
It was a face identical to Fu Qingyun’s, holding a bloody sharp knife, which she then viciously plunged into Ruan Jiyan’s heart.
“Ah…”
Ruan Jiyan bolted awake. She instinctively tried to sit up, but the knife wound on her shoulder once again pulled her back to reality.
Pain.
It was a sharp, tearing pain.
Fu Qingyun woke up the instant she heard Ruan Jiyan’s cry. She looked at Ruan Jiyan, who was covered in sweat and gasping softly, and instantly stood up.
Night had already fallen. Song Nanyan had left. Fu Qingyun had intended to quietly keep Ruan Jiyan company but had accidentally fallen asleep herself.
“Were you having a nightmare?”
Ruan Jiyan stared at the bright and captivating face before her, once again superimposing it with the image from her dream.
Then Fu Qingyun saw crystal tears welling up in Ruan Jiyan’s eyes, tracing paths down her porcelain-white skin.
“Sister, I’m scared…”
