Transmigrated as the Cannon Fodder Marked by the Villain (GL) - Chapter 28.2
As the cabbage entered her mouth, she only tasted bitterness.
Meanwhile, Fu Qingyun was on the phone with her biological mother, Madam Tang Ruowan.
“You wretched girl, you’re always out and never home. Mom misses you terribly.”
“Mom, I’m busy. I’ll be home in a few days.”
Fu Qingyun was standing in the corridor of the veterinary hospital, talking to Tang Ruowan. The sounds of cats and dogs barking occasionally came through the phone.
“Darling, where are you? Why are there so many dog barks?”
Tang Ruowan was playing mahjong with a group of wealthy ladies. Hearing the dog barks on Fu Qingyun’s end, she asked: “Are you buying a dog?”
“No, I picked up a stray cat. I brought it to the pet hospital for a check-up.”
“Mom loves cute little cats the most.”
Tang Ruowan’s voice suddenly rose. Fu Qingyun quickly covered her ears because of the noise.
“I’ll bring it home to see you once it grows up.”
And her girlfriend.
The kitten was fine and healthy, but it was afraid of strangers.
Fu Qingyun took it to the car. The kitten seemed intelligent. It appeared to know Fu Qingyun was its savior and started meowing at her.
“Be good, little kitten. Big Sister is taking you home.”
Ruan Jiyan waited from noon until nightfall. Fu Qingyun still hadn’t returned.
She just sat quietly at the door, waiting to see when Fu Qingyun would finally come back.
Fu Qingyun, you have disappointed me utterly.
Ruan Jiyan looked sadly at the marble fountain in the middle of the lawn. She thought this person wouldn’t go out fooling around again, but she didn’t expect her to revert to her true nature.
Suddenly, there was a sound outside. Ruan Jiyan quickly stood up. She knew Fu Qingyun was back.
Then Ruan Jiyan saw the person she had been thinking about all day appear before her. When she returned, she was carrying a box, like one used to transport pets.
Fu Qingyun had planned to call Ruan Jiyan to let her know she would be home late today, but her phone ran out of battery, so she had to rush home as fast as possible.
“Ruan Bao, why are you waiting for me outside?”
Fu Qingyun hugged Ruan Jiyan and guided her into the villa. Then she placed the pet carrier on the ground and used both hands to cup Ruan Jiyan’s cold hands, blowing warm air onto them.
She felt so bad.
She was late coming home.
“Sister, why did you take so long to come back?”
Ruan Jiyan stared at Fu Qingyun, examining her from head to toe. She then leaned in to sniff her neck and collarbone.
There was only her sweet tea scent, no other pheromones.
It looks like she didn’t go out fooling around.
“I was planning a surprise for you.”
Fu Qingyun opened the cage. A beautiful but skinny white cat huddled in the corner, looking fearfully at the two of them.
“This is…”
“I originally wanted to go to a pet shop to choose one for you, but on the way, I ran into a group of little brats bullying it with stones and sticks.”
Fu Qingyun smiled: “I got out of the car, taught those kids a lesson, and then took it to the pet hospital for a check-up. But there were too many people, and it took until now.”
So that was it.
She suddenly thought of Fu Qingyun getting out of the car and arguing with a group of children and couldn’t help but want to laugh.
The vigilance in Ruan Jiyan’s heart slowly subsided. She crouched down, looking at the huddled white kitten, and then looked up at Fu Qingyun.
“Sister, this is our cat, right?”
“Yes, we have a cat now.”
She was late coming home today because she was buying cat food, cat treats, cat litter, and a cat bed for this little white cat.
After everything was settled, Fu Qingyun poured half a bowl of cat food into the cat bowl and made it some powdered milk.
Then, she belatedly remembered to charge her phone.
Ruan Jiyan stood on the side, quietly watching Fu Qingyun do all these tedious things.
“Sister, was your phone out of battery?”
No wonder her phone was off when she called Fu Qingyun today. It was out of battery.
But there was still the issue of the busy signal. Ruan Jiyan definitely had to figure out who she was talking to on the phone for so long.
“It was dead. It’s all my mom’s fault. She insisted on calling me even while playing mahjong.”
Ruan Jiyan immediately felt relieved after hearing this.
So, that person was Fu Qingyun’s mom.
The huge stone in her heart finally dropped. Fu Qingyun hadn’t gone out fooling around with a lover behind her back. Instead, she had spent the entire day preparing a “gift” for her.
Although the gift was something she picked up on the street, Ruan Jiyan loved it immensely.
She used to have a white cat too, its fur snow-white without any blemishes.
But one day it ran out to play and never came back.
“Let’s give her a name.”
Fu Qingyun’s cat in the real world was called Zhao Taohua (Attracting Romance). Since there was another one, calling it Xiao Taohua (Little Peach Blossom) would be perfect.
But this was the cat she was giving to Ruan Jiyan. Ruan Jiyan should name it.
“Ruan Bao, you name her. What should we call her?”
“I can’t think of one.”
Ruan Jiyan wasn’t good at naming pets. Her previous cat was called Xiannu (Fairy), but she didn’t name it.
“Sister, you do it. I can’t.”
“Then let’s call her Xiao Taohua,” Fu Qingyun smiled: “She’s a little female cat. Isn’t Xiao Taohua a great name?”
After the phone turned on, Fu Qingyun saw two missed calls, both from Ruan Jiyan.
“Ruan Bao, I’m sorry. I should have left you a note.”
“It’s okay. I know everything now.”
She wasn’t someone who held grudges when she was in the right. Faced with Fu Qingyun’s sincere apology, Ruan Jiyan stood on her tiptoes and kissed the other woman’s lips.
“I love this gift.”
After getting used to the environment, Xiao Taohua gradually became bolder and started pulling at Ruan Jiyan’s trousers, demanding food.
Then Fu Qingyun gradually started to regret buying Ruan Jiyan a cat, because Xiao Taohua actually started competing with Ruan Jiyan for affection right in front of her. This was something she could not tolerate.
“Meow, meow~”
Ruan Jiyan held Xiao Taohua in her arms, stroking its fur. Fu Qingyun stood aside, looking expressionless and sour as she watched the interaction between the person and the cat, feeling very unhappy.
Her original intention was not this. Now, her position in Ruan Jiyan’s heart was under threat.
“Ruan Bao, let’s eat. Put her down. You’ve been holding her all day.”
Fu Qingyun reached out to pick up Xiao Taohua, but it clung to Ruan Jiyan’s clothes with its claws, refusing to come down, and meowed at her.
“Sister, are you jealous?”
Ruan Jiyan saw right away that Fu Qingyun was upset. She stood up holding Xiao Taohua and lightly bit Fu Qingyun’s chin.
“Jealous of what? I’m not.”
Fu Qingyun shook her head.
“I just saw you were tired from holding her all day, so I wanted to share the burden.”
Xiao Taohua clearly didn’t want Fu Qingyun to hold her. She hissed at Fu Qingyun and then turned to rub her furry cat head against Ruan Jiyan’s chest.
“Stop rubbing!”
Fu Qingyun grabbed the back of the little flirtatious cat’s neck and lifted it up in front of her.
“Where do you think you’re rubbing?”
“Fine! I was the one who rescued you! I am your savior!”
Not only does she not show affection to me, but she’s also taking advantage of my girlfriend.
“Sister, I won’t hold her. I’ll hold you.”
Ruan Jiyan extended her arms and wrapped them around Fu Qingyun’s slender, strong waist. Imitating the cat’s rubbing action, she gently rubbed against Fu Qingyun’s chest, saying with a smile: “Sister looks so good when she’s jealous.”
Just a cat. Ruan Jiyan couldn’t believe it. Fu Qingyun was jealous over a cat, jealous of the cat!
“I…”
Fu Qingyun dropped the little flirtatious cat onto the floor and immediately picked up Ruan Jiyan and ran.
Xiao Taohua followed closely behind. Seeing this, Fu Qingyun quickly closed the bedroom door.
The sound of faint scratching came from outside the door. Fu Qingyun stood with her hands on her hips, staring at the door expressionlessly, then took a deep breath.
She never thought she would be fighting with a cat for her girlfriend.
She truly brought this misery upon herself. Fu Qingyun’s gut twisted with regret. She shouldn’t have bought the cat for Ruan Jiyan.
“Sister.”
Ruan Jiyan leaned against her and couldn’t help but laugh out loud: “I never thought that one day you would… hahahaha.”
“Don’t say another word.”
Fu Qingyun embraced her, pulling her close. Their noses almost touching, Fu Qingyun opened her mouth and bit Ruan Jiyan’s curved lips, then pushed her down onto the bed.
Ruan Jiyan’s wound was almost completely healed, which meant she could perform slightly more difficult movements.
“Sister, what’s wrong with you today?”
Ruan Jiyan knew Fu Qingyun must have been provoked by Xiao Taohua, which was why she was acting like this so suddenly.
“I haven’t seen you all day. I missed you.”
The buttons of her collar were subtly unfastened by Ruan Jiyan without her realizing.
Soft, slender arms climbed onto Fu Qingyun’s shoulders. She wrapped her arm around Ruan Jiyan’s lower back, pulling her close.
“Ruan Bao, do you want me to… for you today?”
“Yes.”
Ruan Jiyan eagerly met her halfway before she could finish speaking.
After these days of passionate romance, Fu Qingyun’s kissing technique could be described as exquisite.
Dry wood and a fierce fire ignited instantly.
Then Fu Qingyun heard Ruan Jiyan’s stomach rumble.
The rosy-faced Omega rubbed her smooth, flat abdomen: “Sister, I’m hungry.”
“I’ll go make you something to eat.”
Ruan Jiyan thought Fu Qingyun would say eat after they were done, but she didn’t expect her to drop her and leave immediately.
Left alone.
The door opened. Xiao Taohua walked around Ruan Jiyan’s feet, meowing.
Ruan Jiyan put on her clothes and held Xiao Taohua in her arms. A sinister thought suddenly arose in her mind.
If only there was a chain to firmly tether Fu Qingyun to her side.
The start of the school term quickly arrived. Fu Qingyun had forgotten that her current identity was that of a university student.
The day before school started, Fu Qingyan drove to Fu Qingyun’s villa and saw a couple deeply in love.
“Bro, why didn’t you tell me you were coming?”
Fu Qingyan had a gentle and refined appearance. Fu Qingyun bore some resemblance to him in her eyebrows.
When he saw Ruan Jiyan, he knew she was his sister’s girlfriend. Since he already knew Fu Qingyun had a lover, Fu Qingyan brought a small gift for Ruan Jiyan this time.
“This is Jiyan, right? Your girlfriend?”
“Yes.”
Fu Qingyun didn’t try to hide it at all, and Ruan Jiyan didn’t know Fu Qingyun had told Fu Qingyan about their relationship.
“Bro.”
Ruan Jiyan reacted quickly. After Fu Qingyan finished speaking, she also obediently called him “Bro.”
Fu Qingyan nodded in satisfaction. It turned out that the girlfriend Fu Qingyun told him about was the Ruan family’s daughter. Although the Ruan family was bankrupt, Ruan Jiyan’s father was his predecessor and had some acquaintance with his father.
He was relieved that Fu Qingyun and Ruan Jiyan were together.
But he knew his sister, Fu Qingyun, well.
She was out all day, never home, and hung out with her bad crowd.
Fu Qingyan really couldn’t persuade her.
But seeing the two holding hands, Fu Qingyan knew his worrisome sister had finally changed her ways.
“Bro, why did you come?”
“School starts tomorrow. I came to see what you need.”
“I’ve already switched out the things in your dorm room. You can just move right in.”
“Thanks, Bro.”
After today, she would have to spend those painful days in the dorm.
“Didn’t you always tell me you wanted to live off-campus? Once I find a good location, I’ll buy you another house for you and Jiyan to live in together.”
“Thanks, Bro,” Ruan Jiyan sat obediently beside Fu Qingyun, smiling: “I plan to live in the dorm. It’s more convenient.”
“Yun’er, what about you?”
Seeing Ruan Jiyan wanted to live in the dorm, Fu Qingyun also nodded: “Bro, you don’t need to do so much. I’ll live in the dorm. Who doesn’t know that the Imperial University dorms are comparable to a five-star hotel?”
Before Fu Qingyan left, he took out two meticulously packaged small boxes and placed them in front of Fu Qingyun and Ruan Jiyan with a smile.
“Gifts from your brother. Open them and take a look.”
“What good stuff is this?”
Fu Qingyun opened one and saw two identical women’s watches inside.
Sure enough, men are men. They only give watches.
“They’re a couple’s set. One for you and one for Jiyan.”
“Thanks, Bro.”
Ruan Jiyan immediately recognized that the two watches were quite expensive. She wanted to decline, but Fu Qingyan received a phone call and left in a hurry.
“My brother’s taste…”
Fu Qingyun couldn’t help but want to laugh as she held the watch. Fu Qingyan’s clueless male aesthetics were truly unique. The watch faces were even set with pink diamonds.
“Your brother… why did he give such expensive watches? I feel embarrassed…”
“There’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Although these watches aren’t the best looking, they’re a kind thought from him.”
“But this brand of watch is very expensive. One costs several million.”
When Fu Qingyun heard Ruan Jiyan’s words, she instantly felt like she was holding an ancestral heirloom.
Several million…
She had been blind.
On the day school started, Fu Qingyun arrived in a stretched Rolls-Royce, practically styling herself as a nouveau riche.
“Both your and Jiyan’s dorm rooms are ready, but they are not in the same building.”
Fu Qingyan smiled and waved goodbye to his two sisters, watching them enter the university campus.
It was Fu Qingyun’s first time at Imperial University. This was what a top-tier prestigious school looked like in her mind. Although she was a Ph.D. graduate from a prestigious school in another world, it couldn’t be compared to the university in this world.
Ruan Jiyan looked at the familiar campus. She hadn’t expected to step through these gates again one day.
In her previous life, she was forced to drop out and never received any further education after that.
“Sister, thank you.”
If it weren’t for Fu Qingyun, she wouldn’t have the right or the money to return here.
Since neither of them brought anything, they walked easily by the side of the road and started waiting for the campus bus.
There was a dedicated bus on campus, and Ruan Jiyan guided Fu Qingyun onto it.
Ruan Jiyan had studied here for nearly two years and was naturally familiar with the place. Although Fu Qingyun had the original host’s memories, the original host rarely attended classes, preferring to live it up in bars every day.
The original host would only walk around Ruan Jiyan’s dorm building when she was desperately trying to pursue her; otherwise, that was it.
“Ruan Bao, your school is so beautiful.”
“Sister, isn’t this your school too?”
Ruan Jiyan knew Fu Qingyun only got into the university because Fu Qingyan paid for it.
“Yes, I just realized how beautiful it is.”
Ruan Jiyan stared at Fu Qingyun’s profile. She felt that Fu Qingyun seemed like a newcomer. She was completely unfamiliar with the place; otherwise, she wouldn’t have said such a thing.
Fu Qingyun is hiding something.
“Sister, don’t you remember this place?”
Ruan Jiyan quietly probed.
“I don’t often walk around campus. I haven’t been to many places.”
Alright. Ruan Jiyan was now certain that Fu Qingyun was indeed lying.
But what was she hiding?
Was she not the real Fu Qingyun?
For Ruan Jiyan, whether Fu Qingyun was real or not wasn’t important, so she didn’t pursue the question.
After walking Ruan Jiyan to her dorm building, Fu Qingyun went inside with her.
It was a four-person dorm. After Fu Qingyun swiped her card to open the door, she was astonished by the luxurious dorm layout.
Schools are truly different, making other students envious.
The dorm room actually had a small living room.
Fu Qingyun had graduated years ago. She recalled the dorm she used to live in. All the space combined wasn’t as large as this small living room.
Since it was a new dorm, the three others had already arrived when Ruan Jiyan came, but Ruan Jiyan didn’t recognize any of them.
Fu Qingyun looked around, but no one seemed to notice them.
“Your bed is that one.”
She led Ruan Jiyan to the bed and saw the neatly made bed, knowing it was thanks to her tool-man brother.
Fu Qingyun observed Ruan Jiyan’s new roommates. There was a delicate princess who loved makeup and dressing up, a straight-A student wearing glasses and buried in a book, and another who was eating…
Instant noodles.
The girl eating instant noodles was the first to realize a newcomer had arrived. She put down her noodles and shouted:
“Little Zhou, we have a new roommate!”
Li Zhutou (Li Pighead)?
Fu Qingyun only clearly heard those three words.
This is what 20-year-old female university students are like. They love giving their roommates nicknames.
“Oh, Zhang Xiaolan, why are you so excited? You made me mess up my eyeliner.”
Only the girl with the student haircut eating instant noodles, Zhang Xiaolan, stood up to welcome Ruan Jiyan. The other two roommates remained indifferent, doing their own things.
Ruan Jiyan already knew this would happen. She was no longer bothered by it.
Her roommates before she dropped out were just as indifferent, so she was always alone.
Going to class, leaving class, always alone.
“Hello, my name is Ruan Jiyan.”
She greeted Zhang Xiaolan, then held Fu Qingyun’s hand and sat on the bed.
Zhang Xiaolan was actually first drawn to the female Alpha beside Ruan Jiyan. She curiously approached, holding her instant noodles.
“Ruan Jiyan, who is this?”
“My girlfriend.”
The girl applying eyeliner turned her head, looked at Fu Qingyun standing by the bed, then glanced at the new Omega named Ruan Jiyan, and intentionally spoke loudly:
“Zhang Xiaolan, what is our dorm rule? No bringing boyfriends or girlfriends back.”
After saying this, Li Yanwei (the girl with the curly hair) glared at the tall Alpha Ruan Jiyan brought back, then intentionally raised her voice: “Zhou Wan, did you hear that?”
Zhou Wan was likely the name of the girl wearing glasses and reading a book.
Fu Qingyun knew immediately that this curly-haired girl was trouble. There were always people like this during student days. Fu Qingyan had encountered many.
The dorm arrangement was Fu Qingyan’s doing, but it couldn’t be changed now. They would have to let Ruan Jiyan stay here for the time being. If the dorm relations weren’t good, she would have Fu Qingyan arrange a house closer to the school for them.
“What do you think? If you’re uncomfortable, we can move out.”
Fu Qingyun’s voice wasn’t loud, but Li Yanwei heard it. She once again started mumbling sarcastically.
“Miss, you seem to have a strong opinion.”
Fu Qingyun was direct. Li Yanwei scoffed, wanting to say something, but when she saw Fu Qingyun’s full face, she stammered, unable to speak.
“Sister, let’s go out.”
Ruan Jiyan took Fu Qingyun’s hand and went to the living room, sitting on the sofa.
She wasn’t particularly bothered inside. That Omega was, at most, disliking her.
But as soon as Fu Qingyun spoke, she felt a little wronged and wanted Fu Qingyun to stand up for her.
“It’s okay, Ruan Bao,” Fu Qingyun hugged her and patted her back: “Should we move out?”
Ruan Jiyan nodded. She really didn’t want to live in a place like this.
She hadn’t done anything wrong, yet she was met with hostility.
“I’ll call Fu Qingyan and have him arrange it for us.”
“Sister, don’t trouble your brother. We can look ourselves.”
She was right. Fu Qingyan was busy with numerous businesses, endless meetings, and work every day.
Finding a house was Fu Qingyun’s specialty. The money she had could buy an entire plot of land, let alone a single house.
“School just started today. There are too many things to deal with,” Ruan Jiyan leaned against Fu Qingyun’s arms: “Let’s look for a house together on the weekend.”
“Okay.”
Fu Qingyun smiled: “Then we’ll buy some furniture, plant some flowers, and raise some fish.”
The two smiled at each other. Just as Ruan Jiyan was about to get up, the Omega named Zhang Xiaolan walked over with her bowl of instant noodles. Seeing the two looking inseparable, an embarrassed expression appeared on her face.
“Sister, you should go back. Or should I accompany you to your dorm?”
“You stay here. Doesn’t your shoulder hurt anymore?”
“A little, but I still want to be with you.”
Fu Qingyun knew Ruan Jiyan didn’t want to stay in the same room as that Omega, so she held Ruan Jiyan’s hand and left.
“I heard that Ruan Jiyan dropped out last year. I don’t know why she came back. She must have gotten in through connections. Seriously, anyone can get into Imperial University.”
The sharp, malicious voice was heard clearly by Fu Qingyun. She pushed open the slightly ajar dorm room door, giving Li Yanwei a tight, insincere smile and saying:
“Since you say anyone can get into Imperial University, what does that make you?”
Li Yanwei’s face instantly became as unpleasant as if she had eaten a fly. She glared at Fu Qingyun in exasperation, then closed her mirror and turned away.
“So, you should watch your mouth. Don’t you think so, Miss?”
Fu Qingyun held Ruan Jiyan’s hand tightly after leaving. She hadn’t expected that Omega to be so hostile toward Ruan Jiyan.
“Sister, should I have not come back?”
Ruan Jiyan lowered her head, her voice tearful.
“Ruan Bao, don’t be like that,” Fu Qingyun gently squeezed Ruan Jiyan’s palm, bending down to meet her gaze:
“Don’t worry, I’m here. Big Sister won’t let anyone bully you.”
