Transmigrated as the Domineering Scumbag Alpha Forced into Marriage by a Delicate Subordinate (GL) - Chapter 11
Qin Jue’s driver arrived quickly and headed toward the school with Tang Yun. This was the same driver who had taken Tang Yun to Qin Jue’s birthday party. He was well aware of Tang Yun’s identity, but fortunately, the driver was tight-lipped. Since only he and Tang Yun were in the car for the duration of the trip, he didn’t ask any difficult-to-answer questions.
Tang Yun’s school was outside the city, and it took almost an hour to arrive. She thanked the driver and stepped out. Standing at the school gate once more, she couldn’t help but look up at the golden school name. The midday sun was dazzling, stinging her eyes.
Tang Yun took a deep breath, followed the familiar path into the dormitory area, and swiped her key to open the dorm room door. The room was empty. Her roommates were all away on internships, except for one who was pursuing postgraduate studies, who was likely out having lunch.
It was better that no one was there. Tang Yun had been out of the normal university life for a long time—so long that she didn’t know how to face her former friends.
She had very few things to pack: a laptop, a few clothes, her glasses, and her inhibitors. Everything fit into one slightly large backpack. After packing, she sat at her desk for a moment, spaced out, but finally decided to leave a note for her roommates to explain.
“I found an internship that includes accommodation, so I’ve moved out for a while,” she wrote.
She had actually spent very little time in the dorm before. The overnight job at the convenience store allowed her to stay in the shop. During the long nights when there were few customers, she could nap behind the counter. The night shift paid well.
Of course, compared to CEO Qin’s generous spending, that money was nothing.
But at that time, she hadn’t yet crossed her moral bottom line. She could still consider herself a self-reliant university student. When her family’s accident first happened, the class even organized a fundraising for her. But now, she felt she was no longer worthy of appearing on campus.
No matter how much she stalled, Tang Yun’s belongings were eventually packed. She couldn’t keep the driver waiting outside the school gate for too long. After finishing the note, she took a careful look around the dorm one last time, slung the backpack on her shoulders, and left.
“Tang Yun! Is that Tang Yun?” Someone called out to her from behind in the hallway.
Tang Yun turned around. It was her roommate, holding bubble tea and fried chicken.
“I haven’t seen you in days. Where have you been?” the roommate asked.
Tang Yun pursed her lips and gave a bitter smile, offering no answer.
“I keep telling you, you need to rest appropriately. You can’t keep going like this.”
“Also, have you found an internship? Don’t end up not graduating. You need to take care of yourself first,” the roommate said with concern.
“I found an internship. I came back this time to get my things and move there. Also…” Tang Yun hesitated, speaking in a voice so light it was almost a whisper, “Thank you.”
Graduation was no longer her main concern. Her life had fallen apart. She envied her roommate, who was still on the right track, but others couldn’t truly understand her situation.
Tang Yun turned and walked out.
The driver waited silently at the gate, driving Qin Jue’s luxury car, of course. People were coming and going at the school gate during lunchtime, and Tang Yun got into the car openly.
Would anyone recognize her? Perhaps, but so what?
Tang Yun had already sold herself to a rich person anyway.
The car still drove very smoothly. Tang Yun watched the scenery flash by outside the window, and her mind, which had been empty, couldn’t help but jump to Qin Jue. It was already past noon. Qin Jue said she’d have her driver pick up lunch from Mo Quan’s hotel, but the driver was still on his way back to the hospital with her.
Tang Yun couldn’t help but speak: “Brother Zhao, could you perhaps drive a little faster? We still need to get the food for CEO Qin.”
Brother Zhao did accelerate slightly, saying, “Miss Mo’s hotel is on the way. We won’t be too late, don’t worry.”
After he spoke, silence fell in the car once more. The lingering echo of the words “don’t worry” stayed in Tang Yun’s ears. She couldn’t help but wonder, What should I not worry about?
Or rather, What am I worrying about?
Logically, she should be worried that Qin Jue wouldn’t get her lunch on time. But why should she worry about Qin Jue? Was there a need for concern in her relationship with Qin Jue?
Tang Yun pondered for a few minutes and decided to define the reason for her outburst as a worry that Qin Jue would take out her hunger on her. She wasn’t worried about Qin Jue; she was worried about herself.
Yes, the logic checks out.
The car finally parked in the hospital parking lot a little past one in the afternoon. Tang Yun got out, carrying the packed food from Mo Quan’s hotel. She anticipated that Qin Jue’s mood wouldn’t be good, so there was no need to involve the driver in facing the music with her.
Qin Jue seemed to hold a grudge about food.
There was quite a distance from the parking lot to the inpatient department. Tang Yun hurried along with the takeout boxes and was suddenly called to a stop again.
Tang Yun looked up. It was Auntie Wang, the nurse she had hired.
“Xiao Yun, what are you doing here? I thought you were too busy to come this week?”
Seeing Auntie Wang so abruptly, Tang Yun lowered her head awkwardly and explained, “My boss is in the hospital. I’m bringing her food.”
“Tsk, money is indeed hard to earn. Staying with your boss in the hospital, no time to come see your sister either,” Auntie Wang sighed casually.
Tang Yun’s face went pale.
“Oh, look at me! I didn’t mean it that way. I know it’s hard for you. We’ve all seen what you’ve gone through these past two years. We truly feel sorry for you,” Auntie Wang quickly explained.
“You hurry up and go. Don’t worry, Xin Xin is doing well. You finally found a job that pays well. Work hard and don’t offend your boss. Xin Xin will need money in the future.”
Auntie Wang patted Tang Yun’s shoulder, almost making Tang Yun burst into tears.
Auntie Wang had worked as a nurse at this hospital for many years. When Tang Yun’s sister, Tang Xin, was first admitted, she was in the next room. Over the years, she had accompanied countless patients, and she knew the hardships of every family in the Nephrology Ward, Section 1.
Before, when Tang Yun was scrambling for odd jobs to keep Tang Xin alive, Auntie Wang would occasionally help look after Tang Xin. Tang Yun noticed all of this. Now that she finally had money, the first thing she did was hire Auntie Wang to look after her sister.
“Alright, you hurry up and go. I’m going to buy my lunch too,” Auntie Wang said.
Tang Yun walked into the inpatient building, rapidly blinking at the elevator door to hold back her tears, then forced a smile.
Auntie Wang was right. This job wasn’t easy to find. Xin Xin would need more money later. She needed to save more.
When Tang Yun pushed open the ward door and entered, Qin Jue was still working on the hospital bed. Hearing the movement, she only glanced up, not blaming her for being late.
Tang Yun took out all the takeout boxes. Qin Jue’s typing speed visibly accelerated. She wrapped up her current task and closed the laptop so Tang Yun could clear the space to arrange the food.
“Did you bring all your things? Is that all?” Qin Jue noticed Tang Yun’s backpack.
“I have few things,” she answered honestly.
“It’s fine. You won’t need those old things anymore. I’ll buy you anything you need,” Qin Jue said.
She had taken Tang Yun under her wing; she wouldn’t shortchange Tang Yun financially. But it was strange. This sentence could be seen as a jab at Tang Yun’s self-esteem, yet Tang Yun seemed completely unaffected.
Hmm? Has the mission difficulty increased?
After finishing the patient meal, Qin Jue rested for a bit and then resumed work. Tang Yun remembered Qin Jue’s habit, but there was no coffee in the hospital, so she poured her a cup of cold boiled water and placed it by her hand. She soon sank into boredom.
Tang Yun noticed that as long as it was daytime, CEO Qin seemed easy to deal with. When she had work, she didn’t pay much attention to Tang Yun.
This made Tang Yun feel comfortable.
She confirmed that there was still plenty of fluid left in Qin Jue’s IV drip. There was likely no immediate need for her, so she settled onto the nearby sofa, opened her own laptop, and tried to log into the company’s internal system with the employee number and password Assistant Jian had given her.
She logged in! She was already an employee of Changfeng Technology!
There were a few unread emails in her employee mailbox. She opened them one by one and found they were all materials sent by Assistant Jian. Assistant Jian’s email address was exactly the same as the one that had sent her the Xun Dao project materials before.
The pre-job training materials for Secretary Tang clearly outlined her responsibilities as a secretary: she was primarily responsible for CEO Qin’s life arrangements—confirming itineraries, booking flights and hotels, meeting arrangements, etc.—and not very involved in specific project matters. Yet, Qin Jue had said she could be arranged to follow the Xun Dao Phase III project…
Was it just because she had seriously written that proposal?
Tang Yun felt a faint flicker of emotion. While she was grateful enough to be a secretary at Changfeng Technology, pouring tea and water, she had, after all, been admitted to a prestigious university and studied a legitimate major. If she could really join the Xun Dao project team, would that count as working in her field?
Tang Yun seriously read the materials Assistant Jian sent her. Qin Jue also continued to familiarize herself with the overall situation of Changfeng Technology. The afternoon passed quickly, and the two were in peace.
Dinner was exquisite again. Tang Yun felt she was benefiting from Qin Jue’s good fortune and feasting well. After dinner, Mrs. Qin came to visit Qin Jue again. Tang Yun excused herself and also snagged the uneaten pastries from dinner.
Mrs. Qin would likely chat with Qin Jue for a while. She decided to go to Nephrology Ward, Section 1. She missed her sister.
Bed 15, Nephrology Ward, Section 1. The bed was empty. The neighboring patient said Xin Xin had gone for dialysis, so Tang Yun, familiar with the routine, went to the dialysis treatment room.
Xin Xin was indeed lying there. The tiny girl had thick tubes inserted into her body, with dark red blood flowing through them. Tang Xin was long accustomed to all of this, and the moment she saw Tang Yun, she gave her a huge smile.
“Why are you here?” Auntie Wang asked.
“Sneaked out. The boss is busy right now,” Tang Yun winked.
Auntie Wang quickly made space next to Xin Xin. Xin Xin lay on the treatment bed, unable to move, only her eyes following Tang Yun.
Tang Yun showed Xin Xin the takeout box she was holding, which contained the pastries Qin Jue hadn’t finished from dinner. Tang Yun didn’t know what they were called, only that they were exquisitely styled and tasted good.
She wanted her sister to try them.
“Did Big Sister buy them for me?” Xin Xin asked.
The origin of the pastry wasn’t honorable, and she couldn’t tell Xin Xin the truth, so she went along with Xin Xin’s implication and admitted it.
“Wow, Grandma Wang was right. Big Sister found a good job,” Xin Xin was very happy.
“Yes, I found a good job. The boss is very nice,” Tang Yun said.
“What kind of job does Big Sister do?” Xin Xin was curious.
Tang Yun: “…I’m a secretary.”
“What’s a secretary?” Xin Xin didn’t understand.
“A secretary is… the boss is very busy, and when she doesn’t have time to handle some things herself, I help her handle them,” Tang Yun explained to Xin Xin, using language a seven-year-old could understand.
“Big Sister is so capable! Does Big Sister need to be with the boss all the time?” Xin Xin asked.
“Yes,” Tang Yun nodded in agreement.
“What kind of person is Big Sister’s boss?” Xin Xin couldn’t help but ask.
What kind of person was Qin Jue? Tang Yun couldn’t say for sure. She was sometimes terrible, but occasionally made Tang Yun feel not so terrible. Tang Yun knew this wasn’t what Xin Xin was looking for, so she just smiled and told Xin Xin:
“My boss, she’s a very beautiful big sister.”
“The most beautiful person I’ve ever seen.”
