Transmigrated as the Domineering Scumbag Alpha Forced into Marriage by a Delicate Subordinate (GL) - Chapter 6
The stables, bright and sunny under a clear sky.
This was Tang Yun’s first time in a place like this, and her first time seeing a live horse up close. When the staff asked her to choose a mount, she took two steps back, frantically shaking her head, and then distinctly heard Qin Jue let out a light chuckle.
“Just give her a glass of watermelon juice,” Qin Jue instructed.
The staff understood, led Tang Yun to sit under a parasol nearby, brought her a glass of watermelon juice garnished with mint, and then silently retreated to stand behind her, awaiting orders.
“Watch closely, my delicate Omega. See how I’m going to soundly defeat your CEO Qin,” Mo Quan said to Tang Yun with a grin.
“Hurry up and change,” Qin Jue urged.
The staff led Qin Jue and Mo Quan away to change. Tang Yun held the watermelon juice and sipped it. In that moment, a staff member who looked like a manager walked up to Tang Yun and politely inquired about her preferences.
Tang Yun felt awkward again. The staff here seemed to be treating her as a potential new client, yet little did they know she would likely never have a second chance to set foot in a place like this in her life. She also had no experience being waited on like this and didn’t know how to respond. In the vast riding arena, she was left alone facing a group of staff members.
Fortunately, Qin Jue was quick. She emerged in a sharp riding outfit, and the staff immediately abandoned Tang Yun and flocked to Qin Jue, the old customer. Tang Yun looked past the glare of the light. The pure white riding attire particularly highlighted Qin Jue’s slender waist and long legs. The staff led out Sasha, the white horse reportedly raised by Qin Jue since childhood. Qin Jue stroked the mane on the horse’s back. Sasha shook her head violently, appearing highly resistant.
The sunlight stung Tang Yun’s eyes. She squinted, watching Qin Jue nimbly swing onto the saddle. Sasha neighed loudly, rearing up on her hind legs, trying to throw Qin Jue off. Qin Jue tightened the reins and applied some kind of force, subduing Sasha within moments.
“Amazing! Only CEO Qin can manage her! Sasha only listens to CEO Qin,” the staff applauded in admiration.
Qin Jue shook the reins. Sasha steadily walked over to stand in front of Tang Yun. Qin Jue looked down at her from the saddle. Perhaps because of the backlighting, distance, and angle, the usually cynical smile on Qin Jue’s lips was flattened, making her look exceptionally stern and unapproachable.
Tang Yun should have resented this condescending position, but for some reason, this scene inexplicably made her heart tremble. She quickly took a long, cool sip of watermelon juice, swallowing the juice and the strange tremor along with it.
“Qin Jue, I’ve been practicing hard recently! Wait until you’re eating my dust!” Mo Quan rode up from behind on a chestnut horse, shouting loudly and brazenly at Qin Jue.
Mo Quan: “When you get all dusty and dirty, don’t blame me for not being polite.”
Qin Jue turned and laughed heartily: “You can try.”
Qin Jue and Mo Quan agreed on a dead tree on a distant hill as the finish line. The first one to reach it would win. No sooner had the words left her mouth than Mo Quan spurred her horse and dashed out, showing no grace, as if she had never won anything in her life. Qin Jue shook her head, then leaned down and patted Sasha’s neck, muttering a couple of words. Sasha seemed to understand and shot out, catching up to the cheating Mo Quan in the blink of an eye.
The fierce autumn wind whistled past her ears. Qin Jue lowered her body, almost sticking to the horse’s back. It had been many years since she had ridden so freely. When she was fooling around at the stables as a child, her father would put on a stern face and deliberately lecture her, telling her to act properly to support the family name in the future. Now that it was indeed her turn to support the family, she had almost forgotten that she was once a rebellious trust-fund baby who loved to play and mess around.
The finish line was right in front of her.
Qin Jue applied another whip. Sasha neighed and charged forward, crushing withered branches and fallen leaves on the ground, leaping in front of the dead tree finish line. Qin Jue pulled the reins tight, reining the horse to a turn, and waited for half a minute before Mo Quan arrived, panting heavily.
Mo Quan leaned over her horse, breathing hard. She looked up at the radiant Qin Jue, then finally caught her breath and straightened up, still stubbornly insisting, “It’s your birthday. I was just letting you win.”
“Then I accept your concession,” Qin Jue laughed loudly.
“Are you that reluctant?” Mo Quan asked indignantly, her words carrying a pointed meaning.
“The horse can be yours, but nothing else,” Qin Jue said.
Why couldn’t this riding scene be skipped? Why did the System insist that she must win against Mo Quan? Although Qin Jue had never been in a relationship, she had fought her way up in the business world. She was certainly not blind to this kind of subtle innuendo.
What Mo Quan wanted was not the horse, but the person—Tang Yun.
“Are you interested in her?” Qin Jue asked.
Mo Quan and Qin Jue walked side by side back down the path. The hillside path was deserted. The autumn wind swept up the dead leaves on the ground, making them swirl in the air before gently drifting down again.
A profound silence.
“Me, interested in her?” Mo Quan chuckled and countered: “Don’t you know who I’m doing this for?”
“I wanted to ask you that. Are you really interested in her?”
“You’re keeping her so close, brought her home, and your Auntie and sister have met her. What exactly are you thinking?” Mo Quan asked.
Qin Jue: “…”
She sensed something amiss in Mo Quan’s tone. Besides, was Tang Yun someone she wanted to bring home? That was clearly what the System demanded!
“She’s my secretary, working overtime on some official business. I couldn’t let the girl go home by herself in the middle of the night,” Qin Jue said, sounding utterly self-righteous.
“Ha.” Mo Quan’s light laugh indicated her opinion. She didn’t believe a single punctuation mark of Qin Jue’s statement.
“Forget it. Anyway, that person is gone, and who knows if she’ll ever come back. As long as you don’t regret it later, do whatever you want,” Mo Quan shook her head. “I’m not interested in playing mother!”
Qin Jue: “?”
This was the one sentence from Mo Quan that she truly didn’t understand a single punctuation mark of.
For Qin Jue, these pre-set dramas of love and hate in the book were like an adult being forced to watch a group of children play house—simple, shallow, and formulaic. She had no interest in them whatsoever, but being stuck in the middle, she had no choice but to patiently play along. She didn’t want to delve into the details at all, only counting the days until she could escape this bitter sea.
They leisurely walked down the mountain from the summit finish line. They soon saw Tang Yun still obediently holding her glass of watermelon juice. Everyone knew the results of Qin Jue and Mo Quan’s race. Qin Jue was triumphant, and Mo Quan was once again defeated in bitterness. The staff, who were familiar with these two regulars, were not surprised.
“How about two more laps? I’m not satisfied,” Mo Quan enthusiastically suggested.
She wondered who was just moments ago so tired that she was practically sprawled on the horse’s back, but Qin Jue knew better than to point it out and happily agreed.
To be honest, after not riding for so long, having one ride had piqued her interest a bit.
“Let’s go.” Mo Quan accelerated first.
The open space at the foot of the mountain was flat and spacious. The autumn air was crisp and refreshing. It was much better to be in the company of the clear breeze and white horse than dealing with all sorts of manipulative, two-faced characters.
Although this Mo Quan’s comments were somewhat inappropriate and annoying, at least Qin Jue didn’t feel like she would stab her in the back. The original owner’s friend was somewhat to Qin Jue’s liking. Since the stable trip was an unavoidable plot point, Qin Jue was happy to waste a day hanging out with her.
An entire morning passed quickly. The sun was directly overhead, and the temperature was rising. The riding clothes felt stuffy on her body. When Qin Jue felt tired, sweat was already dripping down her face.
“You’re sweating a lot. Are you that weak?” Mo Quan asked.
Qin Jue shook her head. She tried to regulate her breathing, but her heart rate seemed to be accelerating. In the real world, she was a habitually sedentary office veteran, but the Qin Jue of this body had such a good relationship with the stables, so she should be someone who frequently wasted time here.
“Is the original owner’s health poor?” Qin Jue asked the System.
System: “That’s not in the character setting. She should be a strong Alpha.”
Qin Jue’s face was turning pale. A dull, heavy pain, as if a large stone was crushing her chest, was intensifying. She felt the same way before she transmigrated, and then her vision went black and she arrived in this cursed place. It couldn’t be that her underlying illness from the real world came with her, could it?
Qin Jue leaned over Sasha’s back and lightly patted her twice. Sasha carried Qin Jue back. The stable staff were all waiting near the parasol. She probably needed to sit down and rest quickly.
“Hey, Qin Jue, are you okay? Your face looks a little scary right now,” Mo Quan followed up and asked.
“I might… not be… well.”
Qin Jue clutched her heart. Her vision was darkening bit by bit. She felt her strength draining away. Time seemed extraordinarily slow at this moment. A wave of dizziness hit her. The reins slipped from her grasp, and the entire process of falling from the horse felt like a segmented slow-motion sequence in her perception.
It was very familiar, just like when she collapsed in her office in the early hours of the morning.
The System was screaming in Qin Jue’s mind, but its voice was muffled and unclear. Just before her vision completely faded, she saw Tang Yun standing frozen under the parasol, and a group of horrified staff rushing toward her.
