- Transmigrated as the Domineering Scumbag Alpha Forced into Marriage by a Delicate Subordinate (GL)
- Chapter 7 - Taking Advantage of the Situation
Hospital, private VIP ward.
Tang Yun never imagined something like this would happen to her. Her sugar daddy was lying motionless in a hospital bed, having walked through the gates of hell before even having a substantial relationship with her.
When Qin Jue turned deathly pale and fell from the horse, Tang Yun was terrified. Her limbs turned cold, and she was nailed to the spot, watching as staff members swarmed around. Mo Quan, at the very last moment, managed to restrain Qin Jue’s horse, saving Qin Jue from being trampled.
Afterward, calling for emergency services, notifying Qin Jue’s family, and handling the hospital procedures were almost entirely taken care of by Mo Quan alone, who only spared Tang Yun a cold, indifferent look.
But Mo Quan’s coldness made absolutely no sense. Wasn’t she and Qin Jue just a relationship based on money? She wasn’t even a genuine employee of Changfeng Technology. Her identity—others might not know, but surely Mo Quan did?
Did Mo Quan expect Tang Yun to weep and wail for Qin Jue?
A place like a hospital is filled with crushing moments of separation and death. On one side, lucky survivors were grateful for the physicians’ benevolence and boundless merit. Yet, in the blink of an eye, on the other side, there were people like Tang Yun, calculating money down to the last penny, making herself feel utterly defiled by her own calculations. Tang Yun was indeed caught off guard by Qin Jue’s sudden illness, and she followed Mo Quan to the hospital in a state of panic. It was only when she smelled the familiar scent of disinfectant that she suddenly calmed down. She was familiar with this smell; it reminded her of the kind of world she came from.
Tap—Tap—Tap—
The sound of high heels striking the tiled floor came closer from afar. The hurried rhythm indicated the anxiety of the arrivals. Qin Yao rushed in, supporting Mrs. Qin. Mrs. Qin was so distraught that she hadn’t even noticed that the top knot button on the collar of her cheongsam had come undone.
“Xiao Jue, how is Xiao Jue? What exactly happened?” Mrs. Qin grabbed Mo Quan and asked.
“The doctor said there’s no major issue,” Mo Quan smiled, comforting Mrs. Qin.
Qin Jue’s attending physician, a slender female Omega, entered. She wore small, gold-rimmed glasses on her nose, and a face mask covered most of her face. Although she looked young, her eyes conveyed an unmistakable sense of composure.
Qin Yao glanced at her badge: Yu Mu, Associate Chief Physician.
Qin Yao stopped Yu Mu at the door of the ward and asked in a low voice: “Director Yu, what exactly is wrong with her? My sister is usually very healthy.”
“The patient has severe myocardial ischemia. Excessive exercise led to cardiogenic syncope. Fortunately, the rescue was quite timely. Her condition is currently stable. The family must ensure the patient has a week of bed rest and cannot participate in any strenuous exercise after being discharged,” Yu Mu said.
“Myocardial ischemia? I’ve never heard her mention it before. How could it suddenly become so serious?” Qin Yao continued to ask.
“I reviewed the patient’s medical records. She indeed has no related medical history, and her previous physical examination indicators were within the normal range. However, the patient hasn’t had a physical exam in two years. People are under a lot of stress these days, and smoking, drinking, promiscuity, and irregular rest are all contributing factors. You must remind the patient to be careful in the future,” Yu Mu said.
Smoking, drinking, promiscuity… Qin Yao narrowed her eyes. She felt like the doctor had described Qin Jue almost perfectly.
Serves her right! She’s destroying her body like this!
“May I go in now?” Yu Mu asked.
“Oh, yes, you may. Sorry,” Qin Yao snapped back to attention and quickly stepped aside.
Yu Mu walked up to the bedside and took out a stack of documents for Mrs. Qin to sign. Mrs. Qin was so frightened by Qin Jue’s condition that her hands were trembling. The medical terminology in the documents was difficult to understand. She could only sign her name tremblingly where Yu Mu pointed.
“Doctor, is Xiao Jue alright now?” Mrs. Qin grasped Yu Mu and asked.
“For now, she is out of danger. To be safe, it’s best to observe her in the hospital for a week. After she goes home, she needs to continue taking medication regularly, avoid strenuous exercise, and ensure rest,” Yu Mu repeated the instructions she had given Qin Yao to Mrs. Qin. Mrs. Qin nodded repeatedly as she listened, then simply took out a paper and pen, asking Yu Mu to continue listing the precautions so she could write them all down.
The Qin family had arrived. With the official family members present, Mo Quan could finally breathe a sigh of relief. She called Tang Yun into the corridor and asked: “Qin Jue needs rest. She probably won’t need you for a while. What are your plans?”
“That depends on her plans. I’ll ask her when she wakes up,” Tang Yun replied honestly.
According to her contract with Qin Jue, the money was paid monthly. The first month’s payment had helped her through an immediate crisis, but what about later? A sharp blade would always be hanging over her head. She desperately looked forward to that day, but she didn’t know how to earn that much money.
She hoped to earn a little more from Qin Jue. For that, she was willing to do anything.
“Do you plan to stay here and watch over her?” Mo Quan asked.
“Do you know how to take care of a patient?” she expressed doubt.
Tang Yun lowered her gaze and forced a somewhat desolate smile, “I should be quite skilled at caring for the sick.”
“If you need a nurse, I also know some sources and can help contact them if you don’t mind,” Tang Yun said.
“We won’t be needing you for that,” Mo Quan sighed. “Honestly, maybe this is fate. Breaking up now is better for both of you.”
Mo Quan’s words were reasonable. Business people were often a bit superstitious. If Qin Jue attributed this incident to Tang Yun, and she decided to terminate the relationship, Tang Yun would have no recourse.
She had enough money for now, but what about the future? When that day came?
Tang Yun took a deep breath. A voice tempted her from the depths of her heart. Mo Quan’s words in the hotel corridor during the birthday banquet echoed in her ears like a curse.
Mo Quan seemed interested in her too, and was even willing to pay her more than Qin Jue.
“You…” Tang Yun hesitated before speaking.
According to the principle of maximizing benefits, she should show favor to Mo Quan right now. She could be abandoned by Qin Jue at any moment, and switching to Mo Quan would be the most secure option.
But… she still couldn’t bring herself to weigh the value of her soul and her body on a scale. With Qin Jue, she could at least delude herself into believing she was coerced. If she actively offered herself to Mo Quan, Tang Yun didn’t know how she could face her parents after she died.
Actually… she originally had another path. Before meeting Qin Jue, she had already made up her mind. She still had an old house. Although selling it hastily would certainly mean a loss, and she didn’t know where she would live afterward, at that time, she had no alternative but to convince herself to accept it all.
It was Qin Jue’s contract that pulled her out of the dilemma of being forced to sell the house. She should have treated this as a pleasant surprise. Now that fate wanted to take it back, she was just returning to her destined path.
In fact, she had overcome the immediate crisis, and the house could be sold slowly, perhaps for a better price.
“What is it? What were you going to say?” Mo Quan asked.
“Nothing…” Tang Yun shook her head. “Nothing.”
She was now incredibly resolute. All the messy voices had disappeared. She felt she could clearly see the path ahead again.
“I’ll wait for CEO Qin to wake up and ask her. If she doesn’t want me anymore, I’ll leave,” Tang Yun said.
Mo Quan stared at Tang Yun’s eyes for a long time, seemingly confirming if she was serious. After a while, she asked to confirm: “Are you sure?”
“Yes, I’m sure,” Tang Yun nodded.
When Qin Jue woke up, she was surrounded by white. Clearly, she was in a hospital. Could all of this have been a dream?
“System?” Qin Jue silently asked in her mind.
System: “Host, I’m here.”
Qin Jue closed her eyes. It was not a dream.
“You suffered acute myocardial infarction and were unconscious for a while. You are currently in the hospital. Tang Yun is accompanying you,” the System prompted.
“The original owner has a bad heart? Didn’t you say she was a strong Alpha?” Qin Jue demanded.
The System was silent for a rare moment, then told Qin Jue: “This part was not in the original book’s plot. It should be a variable caused by your excessive exertion.”
Qin Jue: “…”
So she transmigrated into a sickly body. Such an important character setting, and that rotten book didn’t have a corresponding plot. What rubbish!
Qin Jue sighed internally and turned her head to look at her only hope of going home—Tang Yun.
Tang Yun was sitting on the accompanying chair, peeling an apple. The paring knife turned deftly between her fingers, and a long, thin peel hung down. In an instant, she had peeled an entire apple. The slender peel hadn’t broken once.
“You’re awake?” Tang Yun finally noticed that Qin Jue had opened her eyes.
She picked up the small food container from the bedside table, cut the apple into bite-sized pieces, poured three toothpicks out of the toothpick box, and then instinctively put the extra two back, looking like someone who was habitually frugal.
“Let me raise the bed for you a little.”
After Tang Yun finished speaking, she walked to the foot of the bed. Qin Jue couldn’t see how she operated it, but the upper half of the bedboard pushed her body up, letting her lean in a semi-sitting position.
Tang Yun held the apple pieces and fed her, not letting Qin Jue lift a finger. As Qin Jue ate, Tang Yun carefully began to speak: “Miss Mo was the one who brought you to the hospital. Your mother and sister came after, and then Miss Mo left to contact a private nurse. CEO Guan is also here visiting, and they are talking outside.”
Tang Yun looked up, staring intently at Qin Jue, and asked softly: “Is our contract going to end here?”
“Who said that?” Qin Jue rejected the idea without a second thought.
Are you kidding? Without this contract to keep her tethered, how was she supposed to go home!
Tang Yun didn’t expect Qin Jue to answer so quickly and resolutely. But at least this sentence allowed her to keep her only home once again. Tang Yun’s eyes felt sore.
Why was fate so unfair? Money could bring her to this state, yet some people had an abundance of it. And fate brought such a generous rich person to her, only to demand that she exchange herself.
“Did I give you permission to leave? It looks like you’ve forgotten whose you are,” Qin Jue asked.
“Yours.” Tang Yun strained to curl her lips into a smile that wasn’t genuine, softly assenting.
