Transmigrated as the Villain’s Sword - Chapter 10
The sky was the color of water, with clouds gathered in thick clusters. Golden sunlight pierced through the dense white mist to scatter across the earth. Lingyun City was bustling with life, as many pedestrians had already taken to the streets.
Inside the Lingyun Inn, however, the atmosphere was quite different. Early in the morning, the guests were jolted awake by angry shouts, followed by the sound of doors being kicked in for forced room searches. Many were woken from deep sleep; the screams of women and the roars of men turned the inn into a chaotic cacophony.
Ling Chenyan, still unaware of what had happened, was lost in deep thought as she looked at Guan Luowei sleeping beside her.
Last night…
Ling Chenyan involuntarily shivered. Memories flooded back like a tide, nearly drowning her with embarrassment.
Last night, she actually!
OFFERED! HERSELF! UP!
She had said she wanted to introduce a wife to Guan Luowei, but ended up strongly recommending herself! And what made her soul tremble most was that Guan Luowei had actually accepted!
At the thought, Ling Chenyan felt her vision go dark. Slumping onto the bed, she asked the System: [Sys, I actually have amnesia, right? Everything that happened last night was a fake dream, right?]
The System ruthlessly crushed her fantasy: [No, it was all real. Sword-san, as you wished, Guan Luowei is already your wife.]
Ling Chenyan roared internally: [No! Sys! Why didn’t you stop me! How am I supposed to face her now!]
System: [Heh. You gave the jewels you promised me to the Witch as a dowry. Why don’t you think about how to face me first?]
Ling Chenyan: “…” Waaaaah, I’m never talking big again.
Ling Chenyan felt like crying but had no tears. The entire sword lay limp on the bed, playing dead.
Guan Luowei heard the girl’s internal roar. Looking at the “despair of life” radiating from the silver sword, her lips curved slightly. “Yinye, time to get up.”
Ling Chenyan didn’t budge.
Guan Luowei rolled out of bed. Sunlight caught her hair, making her profile look like a deity’s. Ling Chenyan actually detected a hint of amusement in her voice.
“If you don’t get up, you’ll be arrested in a moment.”
Ling Chenyan wanted to stay in bed, but then she remembered what else she had done last night besides finding herself a wife. She had emptied someone’s secret room and stolen a lot of wine.
She practically bolted upright from her “deathbed.” “Where are they now?”
Guan Luowei smirked. “They’re here.”
Sure enough, as soon as she finished speaking, the door was pushed open. Several fierce-looking thugs glared at the bed, shouting, “Everyone up! Our boss lost something. Move aside so we can search.”
The room was silent for a while. As the thugs were about to break into curses, a rhythmic footstep echoed.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
The thugs looked up to scold her, but the moment they saw the person before them, their mouths hung open, and they couldn’t utter a word.
The woman’s black hair was tied back, revealing a breathtaking face. Dressed in white as cold as snow, her slightly upturned phoenix eyes held a sharp, aloof arc. Most stunning was the red beauty mark beneath her eye—like a rose on ice or a winter plum in snow. It was the only splash of red in a vast white expanse, vivid and exquisite, making one’s breath catch.
The thugs clearly didn’t expect a guest of such beauty. They froze for several breaths before looking at her with greed.
“You… we suspect you stole from our master. Now, be a good girl and take off your clothes so we can check.”
Guan Luowei looked at them, her lashes lifting slightly. In an instant, a massive, chaotic surge of power erupted. The thugs didn’t even make a sound before falling dead to the floor.
Guan Luowei merely lowered her eyes to the stiff silver sword behind her. She smirked. “Let’s go.”
Ling Chenyan’s “legs” felt weak. Looking at the silently deceased thugs, she whispered to the System: [Sys, do you think she’s warning me? That this is the fate of anyone who lusts after her body?]
System: [Heh heh.]
Ling Chenyan wobbled after Guan Luowei. [I’ve decided. I have amnesia. I truly don’t remember a thing about last night.]
The System whispered like a ghost: [You kidnapped her to be your wife~]
Ling Chenyan: […Please shut up.]
System’s demonic whisper: [She’s your wife~]
Ling Chenyan: [I’m sorry, Big Brother Sys. I was wrong. I shouldn’t want to get cozy with every beauty I see.]
Only now did Ling Chenyan realize the true meaning of being isolated and helpless. She followed Guan Luowei tremblingly, her heart in her throat, yet she saw that Guan Luowei seemed to have completely forgotten the events of the previous night.
Ling Chenyan gradually grew bolder.
Since the Big Villain was pretending to have amnesia, it would be impolite of her to keep remembering.
She immediately dropped her embarrassment and started window shopping with Guan Luowei. Since they were here, it would be a waste not to buy something.
Thus, a scene appeared on the street: a stunningly beautiful woman following a sword. The sword would tug at her sleeve for this item and then that one. The woman showed no sign of impatience, buying whatever the sword wanted. By the end of the street, the woman was carrying over a dozen items.
Ling Chenyan looked at her spoils with great satisfaction. [Sys, I actually think she might have feelings for me. Otherwise, why would she indulge me like this?]
System: [Heh heh.]
Hearing Ling Chenyan’s thoughts, Guan Luowei raised an eyebrow. She leaned close to the silver sword and whispered, “Is Madam satisfied? Is there anything else you need to buy?”
Ling Chenyan’s happy figure froze instantly. She could hardly believe her ears. She jumped away, looking back at Guan Luowei in a panic: “Ma-ma-ma… Master, I… I…”
“Hmm?” Guan Luowei’s voice went up at the end, sounding alluring. “What is it, Madam?”
Ling Chenyan: […Help me, Sys! I think I’m going to have a nosebleed!]
The System ignored her. Ling Chenyan’s brain was empty. She jumped out of Guan Luowei’s shadow and stammered: “Ma-ma-ma… Master, I… about last night…”
Watching a sword act so flustered was indeed cute and funny. Guan Luowei raised an eyebrow as if recollecting. “Last night? Didn’t you and I…”
Before she could finish, Ling Chenyan blurted out: “No, no, no! Those were words spoken while I wasn’t sober! They don’t count! I didn’t mean it! I was just talking big for a moment!”
So please don’t take my head!
“Oh.” Guan Luowei lowered her eyes thoughtfully. “I see.”
Ling Chenyan nodded frantically. “That’s how it is! You don’t have to return the gifts; consider them a peace offering for my offense.”
Please spare my little life.
Guan Luowei nodded. “I understand.”
With that, she turned and started walking back. Guan Luowei knew that the girl didn’t necessarily “love” her last night; it was more like she couldn’t help but appreciate a beautiful thing and wanted to show some kindness.
Therefore, she didn’t blame the girl for the transgression and was even willing to be gentler with her.
Ling Chenyan, unaware of Guan Luowei’s thoughts, asked the System nervously: [Sys, do you think the Big Villain will slice me if she gets unhappy?]
System: [Heh heh.]
[Stop ‘heh-heh-ing’ me! It was just some jewels. I’ll find you more next time.]
System: [Who knows if you’ll give my share to the Witch as a dowry again next time.]
Ling Chenyan: [No! Absolutely not!]
Three days later, the Lingxiao Immortal Sect’s triennial disciple recruitment began. Countless people traveled from all over the four continents, hoping to enter the world’s greatest sect and achieve Dao. Lingyun City was packed.
Early in the morning, Ling Chenyan watched as Guan Luowei dressed, changed her appearance with a mask, and disguised the sword as well.
Looking at the bundle on Guan Luowei’s back, she asked, “What are we doing?”
Guan Luowei tightened her pack and spoke four words: “Seeking a master’s teachings.”
Ling Chenyan’s eyes widened. “At the Lingxiao Immortal Sect?”
Guan Luowei nodded and warned: “Once inside the sect, you must not speak casually.”
Usually, a sword spirit can only communicate with its master. A sword like Ling Chenyan that could communicate with others was clearly no ordinary object; speaking out could incite greed.
Ling Chenyan nodded solemnly. She wondered—Guan Luowei entered the sect in the past life for the male lead, Mu Yunze. Why was she doing it this time?
She thought about it and decided it was still for Mu Yunze. Yeah—to take his dog life.
The Lingxiao Sect truly lived up to its name as the world’s number one sect. Looking at the completely gridlocked streets, Ling Chenyan felt a bit overwhelmed. Luckily, Guan Luowei could fly.
When the gates opened, the crowd surged. Guan Luowei and Ling Chenyan waited in the trees until the queue stabilized before joining in.
The recruitment consisted of three trials: Root and Talent Testing, Perseverance and Endurance Testing, and finally, Combat Technique and Strength Testing.
Only those who passed all three could join as outer disciples. As for inner disciples, they had to excel in all three.
For Guan Luowei, the first two trials were easy. She had the experience of her past life and was a master at disguising her demonic energy.
By the third trial, ninety percent of the applicants had been eliminated. Even so, the remaining crowd filled half the arena.
The third trial involved sparring with current sect disciples while elders observed. Surviving three moves against a disciple qualified one for entry.
Guan Luowei stood below the stage. She wasn’t listening to the elders’ rules; her gaze was fixed entirely on one person on the platform.
He wore black robes, hair tied back, looking handsome and dashing as he chatted and laughed with others.
This person was, naturally, Mu Yunze.
Unlike Guan Luowei, Ling Chenyan’s gaze was focused on the gentle beauty beside him. She asked the System: [Sys, that beauty beside the male lead should be the heroine, Lin Qingwan, right?]
The System confirmed it. Ling Chenyan clicked her tongue. [A flower stuck in cow dung. How can such a beautiful woman have her eyes clouded by a piece of manure?]
System: [Likely because he saved her life. After all, she’s the ‘sister’ he picked up.]
Ling Chenyan: [I can’t stand seeing a beauty wasted. I have to find a way to charm her away so the male lead doesn’t ruin her.]
System: [Bah, scumbag. Yesterday you forced the Big Villain to marry you, and today you’re already trying to charm the heroine. How are you any different from the male lead?]
Ling Chenyan: [How can there be no difference? The male lead wants to possess them. I simply want to give every beauty in the world a home.]
System: *[…] *
Guan Luowei, listening to the girl’s nonsensical talk, felt a sudden, inexplicable pang of discomfort in her heart. The feeling was swift and strange; by the time she tried to examine it, it had vanished.
She looked up coldly at Mu Yunze. She figured it was simply because seeing something loathsome made her feel unwell.
Author’s Note:
Mu Yunze: This is my fault too?
Guan Luowei (lifting her blade): Just die.
Ling Chenyan (peeking out): Thank you, Scapegoat-kun.
