Transmigrated as the Villain’s Sword - Chapter 12
The situation was so sudden that many hadn’t reacted before Mu Yunze, face iron-blue with rage, quickly cast a barrier to block everyone’s line of sight.
Meanwhile, the culprit, Ling Chenyan, was currently resting triumphantly in Guan Luowei’s arms.
Guan Luowei: “…”
She looked down at the silly sword. Recalling the flash of nervousness that had crossed her heart just moments ago, she pursed her lips, a trace of chagrin flickering in her eyes. In that instant, why did I think Yinye would actually abandon me for him?
Ling Chenyan was blissfully unaware. She leaned lazily against Guan Luowei and even rubbed against her hand as if asking for a reward.
When Mu Yunze emerged after changing his clothes, he saw Guan Luowei stroking the silver sword with a faint, curling smile. However, that smile dissolved the moment he appeared.
Having lost so much face in front of everyone—and with the woman he admired standing right there—Mu Yunze’s face was dark as he stared gloomily at Guan Luowei and the sword by her side.
Guan Luowei, showing zero intention of apologizing, stared back at him coldly.
Seeing things turning sour, Li Xiu stepped forward hurriedly. “Senior Brother, this silver sword has a quite eccentric personality. It teased my sword spirit on the arena earlier as well. I suspect the spirit was simply overcome by playfulness; it likely has nothing to do with Junior Sister.”
He then looked at Guan Luowei. “Junior Sister, the sword spirit is mischievous. You must keep a closer watch on it.”
These words were a clear “way out” for Guan Luowei. As long as she pushed the blame onto the silver sword, the matter could be considered settled.
Guan Luowei stared at Mu Yunze and said flatly, “I forgot to tell Senior Brother. My sword spirit may be delicate, but it can distinguish between good and evil. It only ever attacks those who harbor covetous intentions toward it.”
Her calm words caused the expressions of everyone present to shift. They were all sword cultivators; they knew that coveting someone else’s sword was no different from wanting to kill the owner. Sword cultivators valued their blades as much as their lives. If what she said was true, the sword spirit’s actions were almost justifiable.
However, looking at their Eldest Brother, they found it hard to believe he was that kind of person.
Mu Yunze looked at the suspicious gazes of his peers and then at Guan Luowei’s certain tone. His heart skipped a beat, but he quickly calmed himself, keeping a stern face. “Nonsense! I am also a sword cultivator and know the importance of a blade. Why would I covet yours?”
He spoke with such righteous indignation that many disciples believed him. Some even said to Guan Luowei, “Junior Sister, surely it just sensed incorrectly. Even sword spirits make mistakes. Eldest Brother isn’t that kind of person.”
Guan Luowei naturally didn’t expect them to believe her. While her words were indeed a fabrication, they were based on truth: in the previous life, Mu Yunze was obsessed with every sword that had awakened a soul, hers included.
Of course, until the very end, he had never managed to snatch Yinye from her hands.
Guan Luowei lowered her eyes. “Is that so? Then, does Senior Brother still wish to see my sword?”
As she spoke, she raised her hand slightly, revealing the silver sword resting peacefully in her palm.
Mu Yunze’s face darkened. “No. I fear I do not have the fortune to appreciate Junior Sister’s sword.”
With that, he bid farewell to Li Xiu and reached out to pull Lin Qingwan away.
Ling Chenyan had been planning to save the heroine; how could she let his “pig trotters” touch her? Thus, as Mu Yunze reached out, Ling Chenyan shot forward instantly, slapped the male lead’s hand away with her blade, and stood guard between the two.
Mu Yunze’s expression was hideous. He glared at the silver sword protecting Lin Qingwan and said coldly to Guan Luowei, “Junior Sister, what is the meaning of this?”
Guan Luowei spared him a lazy glance before fixing her gaze on Ling Chenyan.
Lin Qingwan looked with surprise at the sword that had suddenly appeared before her. She blinked her round eyes, looking puzzled.
Ling Chenyan tried her best to convey her meaning. She pointed her tip at Mu Yunze, shook her blade back and forth, and then stayed between them, leading Lin Qingwan a few steps away from the male lead.
The meaning was almost too obvious.
Lin Qingwan found it quite amusing. She tucked a stray hair behind her ear, her eyes curving into crescents. “Are you saying… I should stay away from Senior Brother?”
The sword bobbed up and down, giving the distinct impression of a nod.
Lin Qingwan burst out laughing. As if coaxing a child, she said to Ling Chenyan, “Okay, I’ll stay further away from him.”
Ling Chenyan could tell Lin Qingwan was just humoring her. She felt anxious but helpless. After all, the male lead had saved her life from the snow and treated her well ever since. How could she abandon him just because of a sword’s nudge? It was already good enough that Lin Qingwan didn’t give her the cold shoulder for slicing the male lead’s pants.
But the more gentle she was, the more Ling Chenyan felt it was a pity.
Before she could do anything else, Lin Qingwan smiled warmly and patted the “head” of the sword. “Then I’ll head off first.”
Ling Chenyan froze from the touch, her face (internally) turning red. She whispered to the System: [The heroine is so gentle! I love this type too!]
System: [I suggest you don’t ‘love’ yet. Look back at the Villain.]
Ling Chenyan: […Crap. I was so busy saving the damsel in distress, I forgot the Big Villain was watching behind me.]
Ling Chenyan turned her head and saw the Big Villain giving her an unreadable look, before slightly turning her head to watch the heroine pass by.
As they brushed past each other, Lin Qingwan looked back instinctively and offered Guan Luowei a friendly smile.
Guan Luowei watched her pass expressionlessly. For a split second, a faint layer of demonic energy swirled in her dark eyes. It came fast and vanished faster.
Once it dissipated, Guan Luowei frowned slightly at Lin Qingwan’s back.
When she looked down, she saw the silver sword huddling by her hand, radiating guilt. Guan Luowei thought of its behavior in front of Lin Qingwan. She narrowed her eyes and studied the sword for a long time, ultimately choosing to ignore her.
Once the others were gone, Li Xiu showed Guan Luowei to her quarters. After a few instructions, he took his leave.
As the door closed, Guan Luowei walked silently to the bamboo bed, looking with a half-smile at the “innocent” silver sword.
Ling Chenyan: [Sys, why do I have the strange feeling of being caught cheating?]
System: [It’s not strange. You were caught cheating right in her face.]
Ling Chenyan: *[…] *
In the silence, Guan Luowei spoke first, her voice cold. “Since you like that woman so much, why didn’t you leave with her then?”
Ling Chenyan: […I don’t ‘like’ her. I just worry she’ll be tricked by that guy. He doesn’t look like a good person.]
“Oh?” Guan Luowei said. “If you’re so concerned, why not go with her?”
Ling Chenyan: *[…] *
Seeing the sword go silent, Guan Luowei snorted and used her power to pull the sword into her hand. Feeling quite irritated, she used her demonic energy to “scrub” the spot Lin Qingwan had touched, saying coldly: “You certainly aren’t picky. You’re happy regardless of who touches you.”
Ling Chenyan remained as quiet as a chicken. She told the System: [Sys, do you think the Big Villain is… jealous?]
System: [It’s not even dark yet and you’re already dreaming?]
Ling Chenyan: [I’m serious.]
System: [So am I.]
Ling Chenyan: [Sword-is-Speechless.jpg]
Seeing that the System didn’t believe her, Ling Chenyan’s eyes rolled as she asked Guan Luowei: “Master, what if one day I really do leave with someone else?”
Guan Luowei’s movement paused. Her instinct was to grip the sword tightly, but remembering the girl’s words, she slowly relaxed her hold. She feigned indifference. “That would be your choice. I would not force you to stay.”
The System immediately chimed in: [See? Told you you’re being over-imaginative.]
Ling Chenyan’s “mouth” pouted. She felt a bit unhappy. “Fine. But what if one day you find a better weapon and don’t want me anymore?”
Guan Luowei smirked. “That’s even simpler. I’ll just replace you.”
Ling Chenyan: [Sys, you’re right. Waaah, I really was over-imagining things. How could the Big Villain be jealous? My heart is broken.]
System: [It’s okay. She’s the Big Villain; it’s understandable she only cares about the male lead.]
Ling Chenyan: [Waaaaah!]
Hearing Ling Chenyan’s heartbroken internal monologue, Guan Luowei’s eyes flickered. After a moment of struggle, she bit her lip and said with forced casualness:
“I forgot to finish my sentence. If you truly choose to leave with someone else, I indeed would not force you to stay. However, I would find you, break the bones of the person you chose, and forge those bones into chains to lock you by my side day and night. That would count as a ‘happy ending’ for the two of us.”
Ling Chenyan: [!]
System: [!]
Hearing this, Ling Chenyan wasn’t scared; she was actually happy. She immediately bragged to the System: [Sys! Look! I told you she has me in her heart!]
After showing off, she spoke to Guan Luowei: “How could that happen, Master? I’ll definitely never leave with anyone else!”
“You had better mean it.” Guan Luowei gave her a meaningful look, then glanced at the darkening sky. “It’s late. We should head out.”
The moon was hazy, and darkness shrouded the earth. After a day of recruitment, the elders and disciples were weary. Coupled with the influx of new students, the senior disciples were busy leading the way, causing the security in some areas to slacken.
Under the moonlight, a figure expertly dodged the patrols, moving through the sect with ease.
Relying on her memories, Guan Luowei arrived at the most heavily guarded cave. This was the Profound Crystal Cave, used to imprison disciples who committed grave offenses. In her past life, she had been held here for a time after her identity as a demon was exposed.
If the captured demon disciples weren’t dead, they were likely here.
Guan Luowei’s fingers released several wisps of demonic energy toward the guards. Within moments, the disciples stood blank-eyed, like soulless puppets.
She stepped out from the shadows and entered the cave.
The interior was dim, filled with the smell of damp mold and thick blood. One could see disciples beaten until their flesh was torn, but there were no demons.
Guan Luowei frowned. She was about to head deeper when a sudden change occurred.
The silver sword hanging at her waist was suddenly enveloped in golden light and vanished into thin air. Guan Luowei’s expression shifted. She tried to track the aura of the vanishing light, only to find it had disappeared completely.
Meanwhile, Ling Chenyan found herself inside a different cavern. An object before her was emitting golden light, illuminating the entire space.
Ling Chenyan was about to complain that the light was blinding when the System shouted in shock: [Holy crap! Isn’t that the Deceptive God Zither?]
Deceptive God Zither? One of the Four Great Artifacts?
Her eyes lit up. [Whoa, shouldn’t we steal it?]
The System was about to reply when it saw Ling Chenyan charge forward, trying to use her blade to carry the zither away. However, after much effort, the artifact didn’t budge an inch.
Ling Chenyan was panting from the effort. As she wondered why the zither was so heavy, a bare-bottomed, golden-glowing toddler appeared before her, looking curious.
As their eyes met, Ling Chenyan felt quite awkward. Just as she was about to speak, the child asked in confusion:
“Who are you? Why are you lifting my butt?”
Ling Chenyan: “…?”
Author’s Note:
Ling Chenyan: Children don’t have butts.
Deceptive God Zither: Nonsense!
