Transmigrated as the Villain’s Sword - Chapter 25
The Demon Race has always suffered from a poor reputation. A large part of this is due to the undeniable fact that they are often tyrannical, cruel, and prone to losing all reason when driven to madness.
As demons, it is difficult for them to maintain the same level of sanity as ordinary cultivators. More often than not, they are clouded by chaos. While heaven granted the Demon Race formidable physical bodies and rapid cultivation speeds, it also denied them the ability to be “normal” people.
This state of affairs finally saw improvement five hundred years ago, during the generation of the Old Demon Emperor. He somehow obtained a Divine Pearl. This pearl could cleanse the inherent cruelty and bloodlust they were born with, while simultaneously absorbing their stray thoughts and chaos. From that point on, the people of the Demon Race began to gain reason, and everything slowly moved onto the right track.
Strangely, however, after the Old Demon Emperor brought back the Demon Pearl, his wife vanished. From that day on, the Old Demon Emperor no longer possessed his former youthful arrogance.
He raised his daughter alone, acting as both a strict father and a loving mother. Under his careful protection, Guan Luowei’s mother, Guan Jingjing, gradually grew into a healthy little Demon Princess.
Later, while out on a journey for experience, the little princess met a young cultivator.
When Guan Luowei reached this part of the story, her lips suddenly curled into a mocking arc.
That cultivator was Guan Luowei’s father, Fu Qingshi. At the time, Fu Qingshi claimed to be a rogue cultivator. He was cold and aloof to others, but toward Guan Jingjing, he was tender and reserved.
The young Guan Jingjing fell in love with this rogue cultivator without hesitation, wanting to spend the rest of her life with him. She brought him back to the Demon Realm, but to her surprise, her father, the Old Demon Emperor, did not approve.
The young Guan Jingjing couldn’t see it, but the Old Demon Emperor’s eyes were sharp. How could he not see that this “rogue” was actually using the techniques and moves of established sects?
Fu Qingshi was full of lies, yet he acted so devoted to her. There was no way the Old Demon Emperor would hand his daughter over to a man of such mysterious origins.
Father and daughter had a massive argument. One night, Guan Jingjing eloped with Fu Qingshi. The Old Demon Emperor was furious; he ordered that no one in the Demon Race was allowed to look for her, leaving her to fend for herself outside.
In his eyes, Guan Jingjing would eventually come back. As for the young man, he didn’t care much, viewing it as a harsh lesson for his daughter.
What he didn’t expect was that she would stay away for two years. For two years, he had no news of her.
When they met again, Guan Jingjing’s complexion was rosy, she had gained weight, and she leaned happily into Fu Qingshi’s arms. It seemed Fu Qingshi truly did treat her well.
After two years, the Old Demon Emperor’s resentment had lessened. Seeing his daughter so happy, he figured that no matter how capable Fu Qingshi was, as long as he stayed within the Demon City, he couldn’t stir up much trouble. Thus, he turned a blind eye and consented to their union.
After the grand wedding, the Emperor intended to train Guan Jingjing, so he passed the throne to her and spent his days teaching her clan affairs. Fu Qingshi stayed peacefully within the Demon Realm; sometimes he would go to the Demon Forest to catch beasts to cook for Guan Jingjing, or spend his time tinkering with weapons and pills for her protection.
A year passed like this. During that time, many in the Demon Race grew to know and like this “Demon Consort.” After all, Fu Qingshi was incredibly generous, giving away pills and treasures as if they cost nothing.
Even the Old Demon Emperor slowly lowered his guard.
The turning point came when Fu Qingshi had been in the Demon Realm for a year and a half. Guan Jingjing became pregnant. At that time, they had been together for four years but had no children. It wasn’t until she felt unwell and called for a demon doctor that she discovered her pregnancy.
She decided to give Fu Qingshi a surprise, but she never expected that he would give her a “surprise” first.
On the third day after learning of her pregnancy, she couldn’t hold it in any longer and went to tell him. But when she reached the palace, Fu Qingshi was gone. He was nowhere to be found in the entire Demon Realm.
Immediately following his disappearance came the news: the Demon Pearl had been stolen, and the mental state of the Demon people was descending into chaos.
The Old Demon Emperor was thunderously enraged, but Guan Jingjing believed the theft had nothing to do with Fu Qingshi. She begged her father for time to find him, certain she could prove his innocence.
Later, she didn’t find Fu Qingshi, but she discovered something that caused her to break down.
The demon doctor, coming for a routine check, found that her pregnancy was showing signs of miscarriage. Upon investigation, they discovered that the candied fruit Guan Jingjing ate was laced with contraceptive juices.
And those candied fruits were fed to her personally by Fu Qingshi every time after they were intimate.
Three months passed. Fu Qingshi was still missing, and the mental state of the Demon Race could no longer hold. Many young demons reverted to their chaotic, irrational state; internal fighting happened almost daily.
Worse still, while out searching for Fu Qingshi, some demons lost control of their bloodlust and killed many cultivators. The most famous was the massacre of the Mu family, a prominent cultivation clan. The perpetrators were the very people the Demon Race had sent out as searchers.
Eventually, the Demon Race’s actions ignited public fury. One day, all the famous sects of the cultivation world arrived at the gates of the Demon Realm, seeking to “uphold the way of heaven” by exterminating the “evil” demons.
On that day, among those righteous sects, Guan Jingjing saw a familiar face—Fu Qingshi.
The Demon Race was severely weakened in the ensuing war, but the cultivation world gained no advantage either. The demons were inherently powerful; to fully exterminate them, the sects would have had to pay a devastating price. Furthermore, the demons weren’t the only threat—the watchful Monster Race was more than happy to watch the two sides destroy each other.
In the end, both sides signed a peace treaty lasting nearly a thousand years. The Demon Race paid a massive indemnity and agreed to a three-hundred-year isolation. Only then did the matter pass.
After the war, the Empress had already gone mad, and the high-level cultivators of the Demon Race were nearly wiped out. The Old Demon Emperor was forced to take the throne again. He imprisoned Guan Jingjing in the Demon Jail for reflection while he set about rebuilding the clan.
Later, the birth of Guan Luowei allowed Guan Jingjing to regain some of her sanity. She walked out of the jail and saw her people suffering daily mental torment; she saw countless infants orphaned by the war. Infinite guilt and remorse tortured her.
Ultimately, she chose to offer her final strength to the Demon Race.
Guan Jingjing may have been foolish in love, but she was clear-headed in all other matters. For instance, she knew the Demon Pearl was not naturally born. She had seen in the forbidden arts of the Demon Race that the pearl was formed when someone of pure heart actively sacrificed themselves.
The sacrificial person must use True Fire to burn their body until it collapses into ashes, then use Soul Fire to roast their soul to remove all impurities and evil thoughts. Finally, they must tear apart their remaining scattered soul and merge it into an absorption array. Only then could it become a “Demon Pearl” capable of absorbing chaos and evil.
After that, the Demon Race’s vitality slowly recovered, but Guan Luowei never saw her mother again.
In her past life, when Guan Luowei learned the truth from her grandfather, she took it as a solemn warning. Yet, she ended up walking the same path as her mother, deceived by a man until her clan was destroyed.
A self-deprecating smile appeared in Guan Luowei’s eyes before she slowly looked toward the silver sword.
She saw the sword trembling with rage. “Scumbag! What a total scumbag! All dog-men should just die! Madam even broke off with her father for him, but what did he do? He’s barely human—just like that guy Mu!”
As time had passed, Guan Luowei had slowly let go of the matter, even being able to speak of it calmly. But seeing the silver sword even more furious than herself, a warmth rose in her heart.
“Master, don’t worry!” The silver sword thumped its “chest” loudly. “I will absolutely never betray you!”
Guan Luowei gazed at the sword and whispered, “I know.”
Because in her past life, until the very last moment, Yinye had stayed by her side. Even in death, she had fought to buy her a chance to escape. She knew. She knew it all.
“Mm!” After declaring her loyalty, the silver sword carefully looked at her expression and asked, “Are you still sad?”
Guan Luowei blinked. “Hmm?”
“I mean, if you’re still sad, I’ll perform my ultimate skill for you,” Ling Chenyan said.
“What ultimate skill?”
“Is breaking a large stone on my chest okay?”
“Pfft—” Guan Luowei couldn’t help but chuckle. A mischievous light flashed in her eyes as she replied, “Certainly. But… we have to wait a bit.”
Ling Chenyan was confused. “Wait a bit?”
Guan Luowei gave her a meaningful look and nodded. “Mm.”
Ling Chenyan didn’t understand what “wait a bit” meant. Just as she was about to ask, Guan Luowei continued: “In a few days, we need to leave the clan for a trip.”
Ling Chenyan’s eyes lit up. “A new mission?”
“Mm,” Guan Luowei nodded solemnly. “To forge a physical body for you.”
“Yes! A physical body!” Ling Chenyan was overjoyed at the thought of regaining her human form. But then, seeing the lingering smile in Guan Luowei’s eyes, she suddenly realized something. Her mouth twitched. “Ma-Master, that ‘performance’… you aren’t waiting for me to get my physical body back before making me do it, are you?”
Guan Luowei raised an eyebrow. Her expression said: Exactly.
Ling Chenyan: “…” She hated this world.
Five days later, Guan Luowei and the silver sword set out again.
This time, their destination was the seat of the Buddhist Sect—Xiling City.
The Lingxiao Immortal Sect was to the east, while the Buddhist Sect was in the opposite direction, to the west. Using teleportation arrays, it took nearly a day for the pair to reach Xiling City.
Unlike Lingyun City under the Lingxiao Sect, the buildings here exuded an air of peace and tranquility. Almost everyone in the city wore a smile and spoke softly. From time to time, they would see monks walking toward them; when their eyes met, the monks would offer a kind smile.
There was no temper or slaughter; everyone was friendly.
Ling Chenyan couldn’t help but tsk. “As expected of the Buddhist Sect, it really is different. I bet you can’t find a single argument in this whole city.”
As soon as she finished speaking, a commotion erupted from a tavern ahead of them, followed by a series of angry curses. Passersby gathered, seemingly ready to scold the people in the shop. Under the gate of the Buddhist Sect, weren’t they afraid of creating karmic obstacles with such speech?
Just then, several cursing men carried a person out and threw him hard toward the entrance. “Dead monk! You haven’t paid your bar tab from the year before last, and now you dare come back to steal wine?”
The person thrown out landed with a thud—right at the feet of Guan Luowei and Ling Chenyan.
Ling Chenyan jumped back. She thought the shopkeepers were in trouble, given the crowd…
Wait, why is everyone leaving?
Guan Luowei’s eye twitched as she watched the onlookers take one look at the person on the ground and walk away without a backward glance. Some even muttered, “Serves him right!”
Ling Chenyan: “…”
The monk on the ground wasn’t angry about being thrown out. He simply stayed where he fell. After taking another swig from his wine gourd, he looked at the two of them with hazy eyes. “Oh, it’s you guys?”
Ling Chenyan wanted to see who this person was that even dogs disliked. She looked down and saw the gaunt face of Zen Master Guixu.
Ling Chenyan: “…You’ve really hit rock bottom, haven’t you?”
Zen Master Guixu: “…”

Zen Master Guixu: For a moment, I wasn’t sure if I should keep lying here.
