Transmigrated as the Villain’s Sword - Chapter 41
The cave, having been polished previously, had become a cozy little home. The shark-pearl emitted a soft, bright luster, and the girl’s eyes, reflecting the light, were strikingly bright.
Guan Luowei pursed her lips. The bed was actually quite large and could easily accommodate two people, but looking at the girl’s face, the word “okay” simply wouldn’t come out.
In truth, she had intended to sleep together from the start, but hearing the request voiced by the girl made Guan Luowei feel a strange sense of self-consciousness.
“I’ll be very cold sleeping alone, Highness.”
The girl’s eyes shimmered with a watery light, her soft and gentle words sounding as if they were laced with honey, making one unconsciously intoxicated by her gaze.
Guan Luowei’s breath hitched slightly. She lowered her eyes and gave a barely audible “Mm.”
Seeing her plan succeed, the mischief in Ling Chenyan’s eyes grew even more pronounced. She quickly shed her outer garments and crawled obediently into the bedding, pulling the covers up until only her two round eyes were visible, watching Guan Luowei as she stood by the bed with her back turned to change.
Guan Luowei was a cold and distant person; she would frown if anyone got too close. She preferred clothes that covered her body entirely, even leaving only a small section of her neck exposed.
Having spent so much time with her, Ling Chenyan had only seen her neck fully exposed during baths. At all other times, whether in a dress or a robe, her collar always covered half of her fair neck.
Now, with the woman’s back turned, the outer robes fell away one by one. The hidden, graceful silhouette was finally glimpsed through the hazy light.
Ling Chenyan’s heart began to thud faster. Before Guan Luowei turned around, she fluttered her lashes, wondering what kind of elegance Guan Luowei would possess when clad only in her inner garments.
The woman had dark hair and snow-white skin, and her remaining inner wear clung to her form, outlining a graceful figure. Soon, she turned around and walked toward the jade bed. Ling Chenyan excitedly raised her eyes to look at the woman’s fair neck…
…and then her eye twitched. She stared in shock at the woman’s neck, which was still half-covered.
No way. Are the collars on this woman’s inner robes the high-neck version too?
Guan Luowei did not miss Ling Chenyan’s shocked expression. She bit her lip lightly, slid into the blankets, and lay down perfectly straight, maintaining a respectful “long gap” between herself and Ling Chenyan.
The familiar cold fragrance filled her nose, and the shock in Ling Chenyan’s heart dissipated slightly. She leaned toward Guan Luowei and said, “Highness, don’t stay so far from me. It’s a bit cold.”
The woman beside her didn’t move for a long time. After a while, she shifted toward her by a distance roughly the size of a fingernail—essentially not moving at all.
Ling Chenyan was amused. She crossed the “Chu-Han Border” Guan Luowei had drawn between them, propped her head on her arm to gaze at the close-up profile, and said sweetly, “Highness, still too far.”
Guan Luowei’s breathing grew slightly more rapid. She turned her head slightly to look at the girl who was only inches away. “How much closer could we possibly be?”
Ling Chenyan looked at the woman’s reddened earlobes and thought: It’s not that we can’t be closer; she’s just too shy to be.
With a flicker in her eyes, Ling Chenyan suddenly reached out and hugged the woman’s slender waist, whispering in her ear, “This close is perfect, Highness.”
The sudden warmth wrapping around her waist nearly made Guan Luowei reflexively kick her off. The girl’s soft, warm arms carried a scorching heat that made her want to arch her back. Guan Luowei endured the rising heat at the tips of her ears; the cold rebuke in her heart came out of her mouth as a soft, shy mumble: “Let go of me.”
“Highness,” Ling Chenyan didn’t just refuse to let go; she mischievously tightened her grip and acted pitiful. “But I’m cold.”
“You…” the woman said in flustered annoyance. “Let go. This jade bed can be heated automatically if you just channel some demonic energy into it.”
“But it’s cold now,” Ling Chenyan said shamelessly, refusing to let go. “How about I let go and Your Highness hugs me instead?”
Guan Luowei closed her eyes, deciding to ignore the girl entirely. She had realized by now that the girl was mischievous; the moment she showed a hint of shyness, the girl would tease her with suggestive words.
Guan Luowei stopped acknowledging her, closing her eyes and pretending she couldn’t hear.
Seeing her ignored, Ling Chenyan felt a bit dejected, but drowsiness soon took over. Hugging the woman and smelling her cold fragrance, she quickly fell asleep.
Hearing the girl’s breathing grow heavy, Guan Luowei finally allowed her stiff body to move. She carefully moved the girl’s arm from her waist to the side and turned her back to her. Just as she was about to close her eyes, that soft arm wrapped around her waist once more, causing her body to freeze.
Guan Luowei endured it, closing her eyes and evening her breath to prepare for sleep. But as soon as she closed her eyes, her mind was filled with the girl’s pear-blossom scent and those watery eyes.
After a long while, a faint sigh echoed in the stone chamber.
The next morning, when Ling Chenyan woke up, Guan Luowei was no longer on the jade bed. After performing a simple cleaning spell on herself, Ling Chenyan was about to get up to look for her when Guan Luowei walked in.
Guan Luowei set down her bamboo hat and placed the breakfast she had bought on the table. “Eat something.”
Ling Chenyan’s eyes brightened. She sat down at the table and listened to the woman’s discoveries in Lingyun Town while she ate.
Things had gone exactly as Guan Luowei expected. Many from the Lingxiao Immortal Sect were rushing toward the Demon Realm. Even many rogue cultivators, hearing that the demons were using a Divine Artifact to kill people at random, had joined the ranks. Furthermore, based on what she heard in the city, the Zither Sect had indeed moved as well.
A cold smile flashed in Ling Chenyan’s eyes. Since they dared to frame them, they should have anticipated the consequences.
After eating their fill, the two rested and gathered their strength, waiting for nightfall.
At the same time, the main forces of the Lingxiao and Zither Sects had joined together and were heading for the Demon Realm. The massive procession nearly blocked out the sky, its momentum so great it drew gazes everywhere it passed.
The leader of the Lingxiao Sect was Ancestor Moyun, the old man in black robes. Sect Leader Zhen Xuzi followed as well. The Zither Sect only sent Sect Leader Li Yuan and a few dozen cultivators. Though they lacked the numbers of the Lingxiao Sect, having the Sect Leader personally appear was considered significant support.
The group finally arrived at Jinghe City, the closest city to the Demon Realm, at nightfall. They planned to block the Demon gate tomorrow morning to demand the return of the Divine Artifact.
In a courtyard in Jinghe City, Moyun, Zhen Xuzi, and Li Yuan sat facing each other.
Zhen Xuzi cupped his hands to Li Yuan. “My thanks to Sect Leader Li for your help. If you hadn’t come up with such a brilliant plan, my sect’s Divine Artifact truly might not have been recovered.”
Li Yuan shook his head, a strange look in his eyes. “Sect Leader Zhen is the capable one. The traces of demonic energy left at the scenes nearly fooled even me. I wonder how Sect Leader Zhen managed to make the fake look so real?”
Zhen Xuzi’s eyes flickered, and he gave a hollow laugh. “My sect has its own secret methods. However, if the demons are willing to hand over the artifact tomorrow, so be it. If not, we shall have a fight with them. I hope Sect Leader Li will lend us a hand then.”
Li Yuan smiled. “Certainly, certainly.”
In his heart, however, he was cursing Zhen Xuzi as a cunning old fox. He wouldn’t even share where the residual demonic energy came from, yet he expected the Zither Sect to fight alongside them against the demons. His sect wasn’t the Lingxiao Sect; they didn’t have so many Ancestors to throw into a war.
“This time, we must take back everything that belongs to us!” Zhen Xuzi said with a vicious look.
Li Yuan nodded, wearing a look of high-and-mighty pity. “Indeed. That way, those commoners will not have died in vain.”
Guan Luowei and Ling Chenyan entered the Lingxiao Sect with almost no effort. Once inside, Ling Chenyan transformed into her sword form, her sharp “scent” for treasure returning.
She thought that since they were here for retaliatory theft, they had to find the very best things. She drifted toward the direction where her intuition was strongest.
Ling Chenyan said as she moved, “Highness, I feel the treasure ahead is not only precious but also abundant! Crucially, they’re all gathered in one spot!”
Guan Luowei nodded. Looking at the increasingly desolate area, a bizarre suspicion formed in her mind.
Ling Chenyan followed her gut until the intense “fragrance” reached its peak. She stopped and looked around. The desolation had faded into a deep, secluded area overgrown with grass. The source of the fragrance was just ahead, but the area was shrouded in mist and hard to see clearly. It was enclosed only by a simple fence, with a dilapidated shack standing before it.
Ling Chenyan was about to go inside, but Guan Luowei suddenly stopped her. “Deceptive God Zither, immobilize the person in the shack,” she whispered.
Ling Chenyan’s heart tightened as she nodded. She summoned the zither, and as the melody rang out, Guan Luowei vanished. Seconds later, she returned, now carrying a faint scent of blood.
Ling Chenyan led the way into the misty area. She was excitedly preparing to call Guyue out to dig for treasure, but looking at the mounds of dirt before her, the sword froze.
Why does this place look so much like a graveyard?
Guan Luowei gave her a meaningful look. “You certainly know how to find a spot.”
Ling Chenyan: “…” Holy crap.
But since they were here, there was no reason to leave empty-handed. She immediately summoned Guyue. “Come on!”
Guyue was also excited until he looked up and saw the graves. He stammered, “B-b-boss, we can’t do something this immoral.”
Ling Chenyan gritted her teeth. “Immoral? These are the ancestral graves of those old men! Think about their character—could their ancestors be any good? Or do you not want to avenge your master anymore?”
“Of course I do!” Guyue said instantly. “I’ll start digging!”
Ling Chenyan watched with satisfaction as the broken sword began huffing and puffing as it dug up someone’s grave. She turned to Guan Luowei. “Highness, can you set up a barrier around us?” she asked shyly. “I might make quite a bit of noise in a moment.”
Guan Luowei didn’t know what she was up to, but she did as requested and set up a barrier.
Just then, the figure of an old woman appeared in the air. Seeing the broken sword digging, her eyes sharpened. “Insolent!” she rasped.
A sharp attack erupted from her hand. Guyue jumped back in fright, and a small mound of dirt exploded, revealing a coffin and countless treasures inside.
Ling Chenyan’s eyes lit up. She looked at the malicious old woman and said, “Thanks! I was just thinking about how to dig them up. Thank you for giving me an idea.”
Ancestor Moshan: “Insolent! Simply outrageous!”
In the next second, Ling Chenyan summoned Jinjin. “Go help Highness.”
Then, under the woman’s furious gaze, she transformed into a sword and sliced off the tops of all the surrounding graves.
“How dare you!!” The old woman tried frantically to stop Ling Chenyan, but Guan Luowei wouldn’t let her. As the zither melody rang out, the old woman was frozen. Though her cultivation was deep enough that the zither only held her for two seconds, it was enough for Guan Luowei’s attack to land. After two seconds, the old woman produced a life-saving treasure, spat out blood, and tried to flee, but Guan Luowei gave chase immediately.
Meanwhile, Ling Chenyan and Guyue were using their newly learned techniques amidst the graves.
Explosion after explosion rang out. Dust flew as countless treasures and artifacts were unearthed. Ling Chenyan’s eyes sparkled. [We’re rich, Sys! We’re rich!]
System: […]
The System felt its legs go weak watching them blow up graves. These two really know how to cause trouble. The people of the Lingxiao Sect are going to spit blood when they see this.
Soon, Guan Luowei returned, clutching the remnant soul of the old woman. The soul was still struggling and cursing until it saw the tragic state of the ancestral graves; it immediately rolled its eyes and fainted from rage.
Guan Luowei looked at the mess and the enthusiastic pair and fell into silence.
A moment later, Ling Chenyan returned with a bulging storage bag, followed by Guyue. “Highness! Shall we head to the Zither Sect now?”
Guan Luowei: “…Let’s go.”
While digging up graves isn’t great, one doesn’t need to be too ‘righteous’ when dealing with a sect like the Lingxiao Immortal Sect.
A while later, the two and the sword looked at the equally messy graveyard of the Zither Sect and left with satisfaction.
Ling Chenyan’s voice drifted away in the wind: “Master, I feel like my storage space has gotten a lot heavier. Didn’t you say storage space has no weight? Is it just my imagination?”
Guyue’s voice followed: “It’s your imagination. I don’t feel anything.”
“I see.”
“Mm!”
“So, when are we coming back?”
Guan Luowei: “…”
